Names (More)
“Just when we were talking about names, this story comes along,” Spence says.
“Not really related,” says Admin. “And I was going to explain all about the differences between dark matter and dark energy today.”
“How about having that as something to look forward to?”

Good morning! What an interesting article to start off our day! But we don’t agree with those monks about not getting human names. They don’t own these names; they just share them with us. Chet can be a 2-legged or a 4-legged, as can Boris, Misha, Sasha, Meashka, and Katrina! (notice all those vowels at the end of most of those? heh heh! )
7:50 am on April 5th, 2013
Rules for naming us? What rules did the 2 leggers’ parents follow? We’re happy, we don’t need no stinking name rules!
Oh, good morning all (now that we got that off our chests).

When Yuji was found in the woods foraging for garbage he was owned by a homeless lady who called him “Max.” When the owner was taken off in an ambulance he was taken in by a nearby vet tech who nursed him back to health. He was then adopted out to us and given the name Yuji, after the actor singer Yuji Oda who is as big a deal in Japan as he is unknown over here. One day we called him by his old name and he didn’t even look up. He’s Yuji and proud of it.

8:41 am on April 5th, 2013
Love the story of how Yuji got his name.
Nothing that interesting about how I got my name. Barb just liked the name Maggie and thought it was a good name for an English Shepherd.
8:41 am on April 5th, 2013
I named Brandy for his coloring: a beautiful brown and tan.
Good morning all.

Yugi!…Needs a haircut…snort!…After reading that article I now know why Beau never listens when spoken to…heh!heh!
9:33 am on April 5th, 2013
Note: I posted an update on the coats at the end of last night’s blog after I got home late.
Sammy: if you are to weigh 4-7 pounds and you are at a whopping 8 pounds, does this mean that there is less treaties in your future? You know, the camera adds 10 pounds so your future Hollywood career might be in jeopardy.
9:41 am on April 5th, 2013
I got my name because it was mom’s grandma’s nick name and a variation of her birth name, Mason, since she never had a son to carry the name. Sheesh.
Annie was my first born. They gave the pups A B C D names until they went to their forever homes, so Annie kept her name as did Biddie. Holly’s full name is Holly Golightly, her mom loves “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
Belle came here from the shelter and Belle she stayed.
Good morning. Mom is off to take a limping kat to the v e t. I hope she doesn’t come home smelling all katty.

Wookie was Wookie’s name when he came to us as his forever home at eight months. We are not sure where in his prior fostering adventures he got that name, but we were told that he had gone through two names before that, originally Caeser, which I don’t really understand, and Twister, which at least is understandable since he could twist himself into all sorts of unusual configurations. But Wookie suited him so well, both in appearance and sound (he did make the incredible Wookie sound, particularly when meeting another dog that he liked), and so Wookie it was and shall always be.

I will tell you Alice and Abbie’s story later. Now I have more coat news.
When I called Grand Forks to make arrangements for my friend to pick up the coats this afternoon I asked if they knew of any other coats in North Dakota. Fargo is the only other Petco in ND and they had no more. However Grand Forks went looking in their stockroom and found two more of the coats in the correct size. So we now have one more red and black and one more grey and black. Yip yip yipeee!
Now I am going to an estate sale with promises of sewing machines and sewing cabinets. Boy howdee there are suddenly lots of great sales. Dawson better get her soon! She will miss out!
10:39 am on April 5th, 2013
Sales!…My friend loves when Dawson and Staff go to estate sales and finds interesting quilling items…heh!heh!…Hope they have a good of luck this season…snort!
11:18 am on April 5th, 2013
A sure sign of spring, Daddy Dawd and Uncle Cris are fixing the screens on the screen deck. Can balmy evenings be far behind when mom reads to us outside and we can play in the dog cabin, the wading pool or go bobbing for goldfish in the pond? We think not!
11:31 am on April 5th, 2013
I got my name from my dad’s favorite singer, Rosemary Clooney (aunt to George). Hospital staff screwed up by writing my name as Rose (1st name) Marie (middle name). So, instead of Rosemary, I am Rose Marie. I answer to Ro, Rose, Rosie, and Rosalee.
Belle Starr, How did you get your name?
11:59 am on April 5th, 2013
Rose, Mom’s sister was named Rosemary! The grandmother’s name was Mary Rose, and the mom liked the Rose part better than the Mary part, so she switched them around.
12:05 pm on April 5th, 2013
Youse guys are spoiling all the fun we were going to have on the 15th of each month.
T&G, ask your mama to check her SDD, quick like a woman who wants out of her cast!
12:13 pm on April 5th, 2013
I got my name from the old TV series. My sister was supposed to have been named BJ, so we would have been BJ & The Bear, but her mom preferred Brandy instead. Kona was Kona just because he was special.

We three: Brandy, Kona, Me

CHobbit, my Dad and my Boy are always feeding me. I just camp out by the refrigerator and put on my hungry face. It works every time. I’m not plump, I’m fluffy.
12:19 pm on April 5th, 2013
Howlers: On the 15th there will be one more tail to come. Heh.
12:34 pm on April 5th, 2013
Will it be the tale of the tail?
12:35 pm on April 5th, 2013
HOH: It will.
12:44 pm on April 5th, 2013
We await with baity breath! 🙂
12:49 pm on April 5th, 2013
Hmmm…my comment didn’t appear so here it is again:
Staff: now Snowhook has a total of 11 deluxe coats (9 due to your shopping skills). {{{{happy sigh}}}} Thank you so much!
Sammie: that hungry face gets me every time! Sadie Bear is looking more and more like a bear due to her weight gain over the winter. In a month we will start hiking and she will slim down.
1:04 pm on April 5th, 2013
C.Hobbit: Sadie Bear and me…maybe there is a reason we are both named Bear…as in Hungry As.
All this talk is reminding me…it is Time to Eat.

Darn it. No sewing machines left at the sale and the cabinet that was left was cheap veneer from the 60’s. Yuck. So I only got a few glass items and FOUR aprons. For some reason I LOVE aprons. heh.
Now I get to go to a massage!
WhoooHeee!
1:38 pm on April 5th, 2013
Bear, that is such a cute picture.
Masquers, are there any pictures of you as a kitten?
Sammie, you may have to accompany Rio on his long, brutal, walks so you can return to your old swimsuit figure.
2:32 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rose: Pictures! Yes, there are some of moi as a wee one.
(you could have held me in the palm of your hand)
But how to transfer to here?
2:35 pm on April 5th, 2013
Solution: Transfer to cd!
2:44 pm on April 5th, 2013
O’Howlers: Your mom’s sister and I have very similar naming stories. I was never fond of the name Rose. What does your mom’s sister think?
2:46 pm on April 5th, 2013
Masquers, Oh, how I wished I could have held you as tiny kitten.
I did hold puppies during our visit to Snowhook. As Grizzly says, “I never knew the true meaning of life until I held a puppy.” That was the first time either of us had ever held a puppy. [sigh]
3:05 pm on April 5th, 2013
Macy, your mom’s grandmother’s nickname was Min-Pin?
Cute picture of Yuji.
BSD and Buds. Wonderful, but I always consider you as a mature older wisedog.
We had company for lunch today. First time in forever. The Royals’ Mum and Da came up the hill. It wasn’t snowing nor was it icing. A change in the wind has occured.
Congrats on the coats! I’ll be checking things out next week.
3:07 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rose and Grizzly, there is nothing like a puppy.
Of course, they get big quickly. Just ask HOH. Snicker
3:16 pm on April 5th, 2013
Yep, Ides of March, mom said she was an ankle biter. Now she fears for the fat on her knees 🙁
3:22 pm on April 5th, 2013
Opening!…Day! Here at Coors Field…sniff!…What the heck am I doing sitting home with smelly Beau?…grunt!
3:23 pm on April 5th, 2013
Bear, Mom keeps going back to the picture of you and Brandy and Kona. She thinks all of you are perfect. (whispering) She likes you the best.
3:42 pm on April 5th, 2013
Tomorrow I’m picking up Sammie. We will have four days of brutal walks, with no boots needed. A morning walk, a nap over lunch time, and another walk in the afternoon. Also, I don’t fall for the hungry pathetic little face.
3:55 pm on April 5th, 2013
Poor Sammie.
3:57 pm on April 5th, 2013
Aunt MollysMom isn’t mean. Sammie, just jump on top of her and she will say “oof” and then she will give you belly rubs and forget all about any brutal walk.
4:04 pm on April 5th, 2013
Woo Hoo ! It is our home opener and Phils are up 4-0!
Chocolate cream please.
4:16 pm on April 5th, 2013
Mom called all the Petcos in the general Albuquerque area and they had no dog coats in any size for sale. More than once, she was told to call back in the autumn.
It was a very good idea of Carol’s to try to find some on clearance this time of year.
4:32 pm on April 5th, 2013
Ahhh – Mama and Daddy had a lovely day up at Aunt Melanie’s. Did we get to go? NO! Something about long-tail black bears who might eat – or step on- little Corgi Royalty. sighWe are impressed with everyones’ efforts to find dog coats. We tried calling the blithering idiot Petco again. Nope, they didn’t have any. We don’t think we are far enough north to still have winter coats in stock.
We have had a heck of a time getting Callie’s pills into her. Can’t grind them up into her food – then she simply won’t eat. Can’t hide them in cheese, or mashed taters, or little hamburg wraps. She says she can see right through that old trick. So, Mama made up some sticky rice, mixed in a handful of breadcrumbs, and made big marbles out of it. Stuff a pill in the middle and viola! Pills go down with nary a sniff. Did we mention that Callie LOVES rice? Weird dog.
5:07 pm on April 5th, 2013
Woo Hoo! Going to watch the latest episode of “Elementary”.
You may not hear from me for a while. Or as OTAS said when he was very young . . “In a few whiles”
5:44 pm on April 5th, 2013
Red Alert….
I gave you all the wrong number for the coats. The number I gave you was for a smaller version. If you ask for 155-2023 you will be asking for the right size, color and style. The 150 number is for the smaller sizes.
6:22 pm on April 5th, 2013
Staff, how was that massage? Did you nap?
MollyPop’s Mom, Zoë took four of the Pack up for the walk/run today. They had a blast running. Only one part of the Camp is snow free. Perhaps im the next twoweeks the snowpackwill completely melt. Ofcourse, they do not look at these as “brutal” runs.
B. Stover, have you watched yesterday’s Elementary?
6:22 pm on April 5th, 2013
Maggie, Tell Barb that Mom just planted all of the lettuce, potatoes, and onions. YAY!
OMD. Just checked on our game and the Phils didn’t lose. They were humiliated. Wah. We are going to hide out to have pizza and wine.
6:43 pm on April 5th, 2013
We still have four weeks until we can plant outside. 🙁
6:47 pm on April 5th, 2013
Haven’t had a chance to be near the computer today, and tonight have dinner company, but will catch up tomorrow.

My Dear Niece Kat, we need to have another get together so you can walk on me and make me say “oof.” However, it would be preferable that you didn’t do this at 5:30 AM.
7:15 pm on April 5th, 2013
Melanie: I’m going to watch the new Elementary this weekend.
Wonder if I’d like The Americans….
7:16 pm on April 5th, 2013
Melanie heh-heh, as a matter of fact, my grandmother WAS a min-pin, but I don’t know her name, as dog genealogy for dogs (regular, shelter) is a little sketchy. Not like your fancy-schmantzy dogs with their lines back to the Mayflower. (my apologies to any fancy-schmantzy dogs here). Is there a local chapter of DAR? (Dogs of the American Republic).
7:22 pm on April 5th, 2013
Stover!…You might. It reminds me of the Charming Mr. Abrahams writing (not as good though) – very tense – great characters – and it probably actually happened in your life-time during the 1980’s…wheeze!… A little graphic at times – shocking all the time, just so you know…wuffle!
7:23 pm on April 5th, 2013
Stover!…It is also very Ironic…heh!
7:28 pm on April 5th, 2013
Americans!…Take for instance the latest episode we are watching right now…snort!…The “spies” are in very serious danger of being found out and yet I find myself rooting for them instead of “our” guys…gasp!…How can this be? Good writing perhaps?…wheeze!
7:34 pm on April 5th, 2013
Belle Starr: How is your two-legged doing? And what about your Giant?
7:45 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rio: Thank you. I’ll watch The Americans. It looks like they are all on On Demand if it started Jan. 30.
8:03 pm on April 5th, 2013
Americans!…Yes! Luckily all the shows are still out ON DEMAND…heh!…My friend and I really enjoy that show. She keeps thinking about what she was doing when all this Cold-War stuff was going on…grunt!…Clue-less.
8:18 pm on April 5th, 2013
Noooo…This can’t be happening! Our ON DEMAND is a Dud. Only the past 4 episodes are available.
We debated about whether or not to watch The Americans when it first aired, but declined because of the Late Hour.
Will check on Amazon. Sometimes the first episode is available for free.
8:22 pm on April 5th, 2013
Bear!…Sorry to hear that…grunt!…I wonder why Stover and I usually see the same thing out there…hmmmmmm.
8:31 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rio,
The Rockies lose.
And they lose next week.
And they lose the game after that.
Signed,
The Marauding Goats

TGM = Totally Misinformed Goats…snort!…In this case.
8:40 pm on April 5th, 2013
Goats!…You know what I meant!…grunt!
8:41 pm on April 5th, 2013
My On Demand recently had a special on some tv shows. For example, all of the past Elementary episodes were available. It only lasted a few days.
8:43 pm on April 5th, 2013
Macy, our dogs are members of DCO. (Dogs of Canadian Origin). snicker
We are still enjoying “New Tricks” (hard to wait for the dvds though), and “Life” (thank Dog for streaming). I like “Elementary”, but passed on ” Touch”.
Let me know the consensus on “The Americans”.

8:43 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rio: It’s on Amazon Prime but we have to pay for it. Is it worth the $10 bucks? Remember…this is coming out of my Treatie Monies.
8:46 pm on April 5th, 2013
CHOBBIT!…I finally got some mail!….WoOOOOooooOOOOOoo!….I love it! I have no idea what it is, but I love it!…heh!…And my friend is speechless for some reason…wuffle!…She told me to tell you “Thank You” and also “You are very generous for thinking about us the way you do.”…grunt! …Or sumthing like that…heh!…CHobbit rules!….Wooooo!
8:49 pm on April 5th, 2013
Bear!…I don’t know what to tell you…snort!…Treaties are very important to me, so I would forego the show and watch baseball till the season comes out on DVD, but that’s just me…heh!burp!…We are watching the replay of the home opener right now…chuffle!…Rockies are ahead 3 ta 1 right now in the bottom of the 3rd.
8:57 pm on April 5th, 2013
B: Past Episodes of many shows are available on Hulu, unfortunately The Americans isn’t one of them.
Rio: Still debating on whether or not to Cough Up the money.
Anyway…No Time Now…have to catch up on the last season of Mad Men as the New Season begins on Sunday night.
Nite’All – Bear

Let’s send those goats on a voyage on a Carnival Cruise ship.
9:02 pm on April 5th, 2013
Bear!…Someone here says she would spend my treatie money on ‘The Americans’ shows…grunt!…Luckily, it will not come to that for me…sniff!
9:03 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rio – we find that treaties usually aren’t worth the paper they are written on, but why are they so important to you?
Anyway, we are happy for you that you get to see your team’s opening game. Even if the Goats’ prediction is true.
We are enjoying the Inspector Frost movies on Netflix streaming. Mama would love to be watching the Miss Marple and Poirot movies, but Daddy says their accents are too thick for him.
9:04 pm on April 5th, 2013
Goats!….On a doomed Carnival Cruise!…heh!snort!heh!….What would be better than that?…chorkel!
9:55 pm on April 5th, 2013
Game!…Update – Rockies are still ahead (in replay) by 5 ta 3…snort!….God Bless America. Land that I love! Stand beside her and guide her…snorkel!
Message!…Would someone with the initials “Golinka” or “CHobbit” check their SDDs….sniff!
10:03 pm on April 5th, 2013
Rio- we told Mama to check her SDD, but she said there wasn’t anything new there.
