Mollypop’s Mom here –
Molly died last night. It was from the dreaded bloat. I wanted to let you all know right away.

Mollypop’s mom: I’m so sorry. I hope you’re not alone.

Molly’s mom, We are crying with you. We are so sorry. Please know how much we care and are with you. We love you.
11:30 am on October 18th, 2011
I especially liked this line in Spence’s interview:
“The Chet and Bernie series is about love, specifically the love between the two main characters.”
There is a new Sherlock Holmes mystery coming out November 1, written by Anthony Horowitz. You can pre-order it on Amazon.
11:45 am on October 18th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I’ve said before that the only bad characteristic of a dog is that they have the ability to break you heart. With tears, hurting and holding my dear Tenzing a little closer this morning, I know words can do little. Please know that you are in my thoughts as well as AJ’s thoughts.

Across the glowing Rainbow Bridge
The graceful Poodle stepped,
Her eyes fixed on the furthest ridge,
At home, her mother wept
But there beyond that furthest hill
Were Biscuit Trees and fuzzbutts to chase.
Her poufy (fierce) tail could not stay still
For there were welcoming arms to that holy place.

Dear Family of the Lovely MollyPop – we share your sorrow, and hold you close to our human, canine and feline hearts today.

Oh Mollypop’s mom, we are heartbroken. And the last thing that we said to her was snarky. So so sorry. She was so much fun to talk trash with about baseball. I will never see a Fierce tail without thinking of her for the rest of my life. Dainty, heartfelt kisses to mom.
12:49 pm on October 18th, 2011
Mollypop. We will always remember you as the fierce one in our hearts. We are so sorry and will miss you so very much.

I was very sorry to hear of Molly passing. Dogs become more than a pet to us, leaving a void when they leave us.

Oh Rio,
Great card.
1:32 pm on October 18th, 2011
To Mollypop’s Mom, we here in Chevy Chase are all praying for your heart to heal from your loss. She will always be there in your heart, chasing fuzzbutts and being fierce while loving you dearly. We are so sorry for you.
Thank you T&G for a wonderful tribute and Rio for his sincere beautiful sentiments.

Sniff.
I will miss her poufy (fierce) tail.

We wish we could express our feelings as well as all the others in our family of plunderer friends. Please know that our hearts hurt with yours. It is so hard to lose one of our babies, especially one with a puffy, fierce tail. Hugs and love to you from all of us.

Dear Judith: The others have said it much better than I. T&G’s poem was beautiful & Rio and Friend’s card a special tribute to your Beloved Friend and Companion, Mollypop. Sending prayers for your comfort and peace for your spirit. A very sad day for the Plunderers.

I thank you all for your love and caring. Our blog family is something to be cherished.
Molly was 11 years old. Here’s what happened:
Yesterday Molly was groomed – she was just beautiful. The groomer even commented to me how Molly was so lively for her age. A couple of hours later, Molly was in distress, but I didn’t know what it was. Then her abdomen started swelling and I immediately took her to the emergency vet. They did an x-ray to verify that her stomach had twisted and used a syringe to let out the air to make her more comfortable. They gave me 20 minutes with her, to hug and kiss her, to tell her what a good dog she was and how much I loved her, and then it was over.
3:59 pm on October 18th, 2011
I’m so glad you were able to be with her and tell you that you loved her. So important to both of you . . .
4:05 pm on October 18th, 2011
Damn Bloat. Makes me want to pee on somebody’s tire.
4:14 pm on October 18th, 2011
I had never heart of bloat. I had to look it up. So sad and so sudden. Just heartbreaking.
Hugs,
Staff

So okay now, let’s get this blog back on track. I think Pollymop would want me to harass that sassy Min-Pin for the rest of the baseball season.
Play ball!
4:23 pm on October 18th, 2011
Wolfie, I know..I’m angry. Heartbroken, but angry…that this would happen to the most beautiful and smartest of all Standard Poodles. She was my friend and will always be my friend.
Thanks Spence for putting her beautiful photo up there.
For the rest of my life whenever I cheer for the NY Yankees, it will be in honor of Mollypop.
I’m so glad Mollypop and her mom got to spend some peaceful, loving time together. We’ll all see Mollypop again someday.

Melanie: The cake is wonderful!! Thank you.
4:37 pm on October 18th, 2011
Mom reminded me that I always want to pee on somebody’s tires.
Which is true. But sometimes I want to pee because I am mad and sometimes I want to pee just because I want to pee.
There is a difference.
4:50 pm on October 18th, 2011
Thank you for the poem, Amalia, and card, Rio.
Every time we come back to the blog today we feel sad, but yet at the same time, the out pouring of love support to one of our good friends is so uplifting. Molly had a wonderful life and a wonderful Mom, and we are so glad we got to know them.

Tears have not been far away today…I’m not a poet, but the last two lines rang through my head today. The family found here especially at times like this is a thing of beauty.
Request at the Bridge: a Poem for Judith
Below the Bridge, now one above
“Who will care for the one I love,
Left behind, who loves me still?”
Together the Plunderers cried, “We will!”
Princess Sam: Please take care of your Aunt Mollysmom.
Happy birthday to Professor Stover and Linda our Lurker Friend!
5:59 pm on October 18th, 2011
So, Supreme Commander BStover has birthday today. Ve should be gracious and vish her happy day, but ve are sure “birthday” is code for next step of Plunderers’ mission.
Ve think also “Linda Lurker” is code for undercover spy person in ranks of Plunderers. Be avare – Natasha is Vorld’s Best Undercover Spy. Ve do not fear the Lurk Person!
(ok- happy birthday to you both!)
6:07 pm on October 18th, 2011
Kisses, hugs, licks and snuggles to Mollypop’s family. I feel honored to have met such a fierce cousin. And every time I see a squirrel, I call them fuzzbutts instead of squirrel.
6:45 pm on October 18th, 2011
No, no, no! I can’t believe my Yankees loving friend has passed.
Mollypop’s Mom:
It was such a pleasure to have Mollypop as a friend. I’m tearing up here…
Please know that my deepest sympathies are with you and yours at this time. I don’t have the words to express how shocked and saddened I am right now. Instead, I will share with you words of wisdom from Winnie the Pooh:
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
Mollypop, you’ll always be in my heart….
6:47 pm on October 18th, 2011
Well, just let me say, when you hear on the news about a major squirrel infestation in Western New York, you will know why.

Judith, Thank you for telling us what happened. So terrible that something can happen so suddenly. We never heard of bloat, but having read up on it, it is terrifyingly comon and deadly.
Rio, we can’t view your card on the iPaw, but will look at it on our other computer when we are allowed.

Wolfie, I thought that earlier today about Admin. and the Rangers, but I didn’t want to say anything. Oh boy, I hope Bernie doesn’t bet any money on the Rangers.
9:03 pm on October 18th, 2011
Well I am not against the Rangers. My X-Twin radar knows that Ron Washington is a former Twin and Nicky Punto is too. Ron was a Twin back in the early 80’s. Nicky was with the team up until last year. Either one is OK with me. I just hope they are good games.
And yes, Admin administered the kiss of death. Too bad.
9:15 pm on October 18th, 2011
Heh!…heh!heh!…The kiss of Death has been Admin-istered…snort!
9:22 pm on October 18th, 2011
We read the discussion with PA/SQ this morninng and it was extremely well done. Bravo!
We are going to watch a little tv and then off to bed. Good night all.
9:41 pm on October 18th, 2011
Rio: Thanks for the YSAS’ links. I will have to watch them when I get home. Wayward posts seem to be happening more and more the pasy coupld of days. Filmmakers are starting to film more and more in Alaska. I wonder if Alaska is in YSAS film future. If so, I think it only proper that his agent accompany him here. I haven’t been able to see your card for Judith yet but look forward to seeing it.
Melanie: Great cakes! I’ll join Dawson in having a slice of each.
10:10 pm on October 18th, 2011
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Good night all.
10:12 pm on October 18th, 2011
Early!… We are going to bed early because someone here was stupid and walked in the cold wind today…grunt! ….Luckily she walked without me while she was at the Busy Place….grunt!….So now she has a headache and will probably wake up with a head cold tomorrow morning…sniff!…What the hell!? Doesn’t she know the World Series is going to start tomorrow night?…groan!… Anyways, we are off to bed now to await her fate…sniffle!

Someone at work came in last Thursday and said that she thought her elderly dog was dying (of a known condition). She had called the vet who said it could take hours. She works in a difficult area but we urged her to go home and be with her dog and to call the vet to come to her home. Which she did. So the dog got to leave surrounded by loved ones–a blessing to all. The best owners give their homes and their hearts to their dogs and then help them when it is time for them to go.
11:34 pm on October 18th, 2011
Rio: The card you made for Judith is wonderful. And, thank you for sharing the YSAS links; he is a natural in front of the camera.
CHarris: Homes and hearts to dogs—that is a beautiful phrase.
Tonight, I held puppies. Before I went into the house, before I visited Chet’s blog, I just held them both—cooing, snuggling, short legs around my wrist. Tonight, was a night for holding puppies.
12:49 am on October 19th, 2011
Amen
7:18 am on October 19th, 2011
Rio, we finally could view your card to Mollypop’s mom. It was beautiful.
7:22 am on October 19th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I have to admit that sometimes when Mom is on the front desk at work and there aren’t any patrons, she reads the blog. But yesterday she had to stop reading because she started to cry. So we read the rest this morning. Now she says she’s going to go to work with red eyes. Everyone else has said it so well, but just know that you’re in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
