Good morning, everyone! Mrs. Read for Fun? No verbs used as nouns, the exuberence of Mr.Wizzard and the looks of Captain Kangaroo! Perhaps a good take from a kid’s point of view.

Mrs. Read for Fun does a Great WOOF!

Captain Kangaroo? We Remember Captain Kangeroo.

Has anyone seen the video of a police officer rescuing a gosling tangled in a balloon string? This happened after the mother goose pecked on the patrol car window. Kind of like Lassie dragging people to help!

    Nice video!

(Whispering) I must admit that I remember, and watched Captain Kangaroo. Also, “Wonderama”, “The Soupy Sales Show”, and Chuck McCann…

Good morning, everyone. Sorry to be M.I.A. but it is nearly impossible for me to keep up with the blog these days. All is well here, just super busy and stressed out managing all of the work here in PA as well as in SC, while still working fulltime. I can’t wait until I am retired and settled in.
Hope all is well with all of you, since I haven’t been able to read your posts for so long.

    Good morning all.
How come Mrs. Read For Fun never mentions Birdie?

Today is for seeing friends and wrapping up the last of the buying. One last day for indulging in as much green chili as I can get.

Green chili counts as a vegetable, right?

Nice review, although Bowser doesn’t really talk.

Thanks for checking in, Howlers. Life will get much easier very soon. Just hang in there.

Howdy Doody, Clarabell, Mr. Bluster and Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring. First show I remember watching at the neighbor’s house. Sherry Chech controlled all the kids in the neighborhood, as they had the only tv. This was about 1950. Only reason I remember her name after 65 years is that tv they had! And if you didn’t play her way, you weren’t invited it. Often wonder if she grew up to be a first class B**ch!

I am trying to be healthier again. Even stopped this morning to pick up a package of sprouts for my turkey wrap.

Nice day here, but the weekend will be awful. Rain, wind and possible frost Sat. and Sun. nights. Will this crap every end!

Someone joked the other day – “Summer in northern Illinois is lovely. Last year it happened on a Tuesday.” Not funny!

Barb, Maggie&Lucy: I keep telling myself two things. One, I am going to start eating healthy with smaller portions. Two, I am going to start going to fitness classes again. There is always one word tacked on to the end of those two sentences: tomorrow!

I was never big on cartoons, even as a little kid. I was more into the 30 minute serial shows, mostly involving animals. Imagine that! Lassie was my fav, but I liked My Friend Flicka, Fury, Rin Tin Tin, to name a few.

Does anyone remember “Romper Room” or was it just local Chicago TV? I remember once my dad came home from a funeral and told me that the man who played Captain Kangaroo had also been at the funeral. They spoke for awhile. I was very impressed. I was also young.

They would be sitting on their ponies walking along the ditch-bank and my friend would look back and say, “The Sheriff! Run!”…snort!….So they would get their ponies running at full pony-speed!…guffle!…After a while the ponies knew when to run when my friend yelled…”Its the Sheriff! Run!”…snort!snort!
