Zoë and I took The Pack out for a big Mother’s Day Walk/Run. . .
They were very good. (I think they were just being easy on us because of the day)
I just came back from the ONLY store around. I was getting yogurt, and found that a small girl (now almost as tall as my shoulders) was having a bake sale to earn money to go to a certain school.
I got cupcakes (Hi Cupcake!), cookies, lavender muffins and other cookies. Nothing I could eat, but I gave her all the money I had in my wallet. A good cause.
Going off before the porn shows up . . . Monday 9 am cannot arrive to soon.

Mothers!…. This made-up holiday really screwed me up…sniff!… We had to wait and wait for her brother and his wife to arrive, and then we had to wait and wait for Bro to trim the hedge and bushes….grunt!… Then I had to wait till they all got back from a lovely lunch…snort! … Finally I had to wait until Bro and Wife loaded some old farm plows into their pick-up. Antiques from her dad’s growing up days. Apparently, her mother is tired of it in her garden and Bro wants it all for his garden…snuff!… FINALLY, after they left we came over here and finally we are watching the ballgame and cooling off…huffle!…It’s actually hot outside today…grump!

Time!….Because of all that waiting this morning my friend was able to finish the Quilling work on her Auction Project….snort!….She took pictures for me to post, but we forgot to bring the camera over with us…huff!… She still has to mount the whole thing on the final background piece, and find a frame that will fit it. Happy Mother’s Day to all the two and four-legged mothers and those who will be mothers.
Today, I’m reminded of one of my favorite memories of all time. Years ago, Luna was due to give birth to her first litter. I insisted on being present for the birth—not a hard campaign to win because she insisted I stay with her. I assured her I knew nothing of midwifery, and she assured me she knew nothing of motherhood but between the two of us and the book I bought on the subject we should be able to figure it out.
She lay in my lap through several hours of contractions, panting and shaking. I stayed with her through those long hours, singing to her, telling her stories about her (her favorite subject) and stroking her soft fur. Finally, it was time to welcome new life. Luna yelped once, looked me in the eye, placed her head on my lap and gave birth to the first of eight pups. It was a moment she and I shared together, AJ and Tenzing having gone to sleep. Luna is a wonderful mother and the matriarch of the kennel.
Mothers are special creatures…

Rio: Thanks for the compliment. I’ve had the idea for several years to write a children series based on each of the dogs in the kennel as well as writing a book somewhat based off our history with dogs. Did you ever sit down to write a story only to realize you’re not a writer—it’s a bit of a hurdle. My boss tells me at least once a week to, “close your eyes and start typing.”
Unrelated curiosity: do we have new baby goats to welcome, yet?

Stories!…As you might imagine, there could possibly be some funny stories I can tell about my friend and her mother as they learn to live together…snort!…Plus, you need to know that this house is very weird. Things move around on their own. Or disappear all together…grunt! …Take this morning for instance. It went something like this….sniff!
My friend comes out of the bathroom and goes into her new bedroom and finds her mom folding laundry on the bed.
“Where are my sweat pants?” my friend asks.
“I don’t know, where did you put them?” says mom.
“I took them out of the drawer and put them right there on the bed”, pointing to a spot on the bed while searching under folded clothes.
Her mom looks around confused and then says, “OH! Wait, I’m wearing them!” as she pulls off her sweat pants. “The fit, but they are a little long.”
My friend looks at them and says, “Those aren’t my sweat pants. They have paint on them. They both laugh and her mother puts her pants back on. Her mom goes in another bedroom and comes out with a pair of sweat paints, “Here they are. They were in another room.”… snort!

WOW! What a lovely welcome and welcome and hi there and welcome and I-wonder-if-you-are-covered-in-creamy-frosting (gulp) reception. This was my first visit here, and I’m happy I came.
Mom writes children’s picture books, Wolfie, and some children’s poetry, too. She’s talented, but let’s face it -she’s not as cute as I am! Thanks for saying I look regal, B. That’s exactly the look I was going for. Banana peels taste delicious, but I will admit, it’s difficult to look regal being chased around the house with one hanging out of your mouth.

Rio: I love the sweatpant story! My mom and her mom could never wear each other’s clothes! And Mom and my girl could never wear each other’s clothes, either! In fact, all three of them were at my cousin’s wedding, and they posed together for a picture. Grandma is 5’3″, Mom is 5’9″ and my girl is 6 feet tall. They looked like stairsteps. And then someone who was watching them line up said, “Oh, my gosh! How tall is the next one going to be?!”

Rio: I forgot to mention that AJ had a similar pants-not-his-own experience.
He and I have gray fleece pants that are the same color, but different sizes of course. When I fold laundry I usually pay close attention to make sure his dog fur covered fleece clothing articles don’t get mixed up with my fur covered wardrobe. Long story short, he thought I shrunk his fleece pants because he could barely get them on and once he did, they were about a foot too short. He wore them anyway until I pointed out that the pants he had on were mine…

We have been here at the farm for three days now and today the trees leafed out. It was just amazing. It was raining gently all night and this morning at 8 o’clock there were no leaves on the trees. By one in the afternoon the woods was full of pale green as the leaves opened out of the buds. Totally amazing. If only I had done a time lapse of every half hour it would be freaky cool.
But I didn’t. They don’t let you know they are going to do something like that, the little sneaks.

OK, so I rebooted, but not voluntarily! Our electricity went off — no storm or anything. Then Dad came in here because he wanted to use the computer, and he got upset that it took so long to bring it up. He wanted to know who turned off the computer — he was taking a nap when the electricity went off, so he was totally out of the loop! I haven’t seen any blue yet, so maybe that did the trick. okay, Rio..that helps. My mom is also somewhat claustrophobic…she may be totally claustrophobic by now, but she is not willing to test it.
Tell her to eat a lot because that camera loves to show people eating, food being fixed, or people lining up for food…I always get hungry watching a Rockies game.
