Good morning, y’all! Does “Monday Morning Nation-Within Music” mean we’re going to get dog songs every Monday morning.
P.S. Was anyone else freaked out by the bass player’s hand floating about ghost-like during the first part of the video???
9:16 am on August 8th, 2011
Remember them well. Still have their records (the vinyl kind). Thanks for the memory. Brought to mind Peter Paul and Mary’s concert recording of “A Dog Named Blue”. Very funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2TZ_zQjMfQ
9:18 am on August 8th, 2011
We love Ian and Sylvia!
‘Four Strong Winds’ is on our list of all time favorite songs.
9:19 am on August 8th, 2011
We didn’t notice the ghost hand. Will have to watch again.
9:23 am on August 8th, 2011
Kirby: I hope not.
Good morning all.
9:41 am on August 8th, 2011
Gah!….Hillbilly music!… Not what I want to hear first thing in the morning before I’ve even had my coffee and Zinger….grump!… And Kirby, don’t be giving those guys any really bad ideas, you hear…dammit!
9:49 am on August 8th, 2011
Thanks for all the ideas last night folks!
I’ll send those on to F.
About to take Dan down the hill, going to the vampires and then hitting the organic food coop!
Will listen when I get home!
9:51 am on August 8th, 2011
Listen!…You aren’t missing anything Melanie!…snort!…Just get the pack to start howling and that will just about match the video…snuff!
10:03 am on August 8th, 2011
Liked the video, didn’t notice the ghost hand either. Hard to believe that was 50 years ago or close to it.
Looking like we could get some rain here this morning. Barb is looking forward to spending a quiet day at home. Sofa cleaner guy is coming in a minute. BBL

We have a lot to do today with Sam’s girl, then Mom is going to a surprise 60th wedding anniversary party. Mom was a junior bridesmaid in their wedding. The party will be held in the Buffalo Botanical Gardens where her cousin is the horticulturist. This is a beautiful place so if you’re in the Buffalo area, it is a must-see.

Greetings All!!
Kirby T- I did notice that ghost hand, and it is very freaky.
I just can’t believe I’m old enough to remember Hootenanny!
Rio: Please refrain from making any old comments, even though soemthing tells me you will….

Interesting article/interview. I think Robbie Hood is female isn’t she?
The gardens look huge Mollypop. I’ll take the virtual tour later.
10:44 am on August 8th, 2011
Molly!… That Botanical Center is amazing. A fellow could go crazy in a place like that!… snort!
10:58 am on August 8th, 2011
Stover!… I’ve always thought Robbie Foryster was a girl, but the article says Robbie is a guy….grunt!… Is it a mistake on our part or on the author of the article? I don’t know…sniff!
11:07 am on August 8th, 2011
In the August 27, 2010 post, Chet says that Admin finished the novel and that the probable title was Robyn Hoodly and Her Band of Thieves.
11:18 am on August 8th, 2011
Robbie!….Well, the post of July 24th actually shows the cover of the book and the new title is….sniff! … Robbie Forester and the Outlaws of Sherwood Street ….I still think Robbie is a girl no matter what that article says….grunt!
11:20 am on August 8th, 2011
We love Ian and Slyvia! Thanks for the video. Mom had their albums when she was a pup. After they split, Ian went onto record some fine cowboy albums. We are going back later to watch some of their other videos.
They were not hillbilly music, but I bet Redbone could find us some genuine hillbilly music on the web.
That is an interesting article. We know we are being narrow minded here, but the only young adult books we will read are by PA.

A skunk report for Barb:
Mom talked to an animal control officer and they are not doing to the skunks what we thought they were doing. The officer said that they take them down to the Rio Grande and release them. That makes sense because there is a lot of wildlife habitat along the river.
11:54 am on August 8th, 2011
Siber, We are actually very glad to hear that, despite your run-ins with the smelly little rascles.
12:11 pm on August 8th, 2011
Good Morning all and welcome to Sheila B. Got to bed really late last night. (This morning) Because I was posting my fireworks photo’s to flickr and my blog. Great time at the Red River Fairgrounds in West Fargo.
Hope McKey is feeling better soon.
And I hope Rio’s friend cheers up some too. Rio is sounding a little worried so we are too.
12:33 pm on August 8th, 2011
Alice!… When did I sound worried?….sniff!…I don’t recall being worried about anything except right now I am wondering if her mother is going to share that donut with me….yeep! …It worries me that she might eat it all.
Funk!….My friend has been in a blue funk for 3 months now, so who cares anymore….grunt! ….She just has to get over the fact that she has no one but me. …sniff! grump! …And I say, Who could ask for anything more?….wuffle!
1:24 pm on August 8th, 2011
Now you see why I am concerned about you Rio dear. And just a note that you do more in a funk than most of us do happy. If you want I can let you pull my tail….(I love having my tail pulled)
I am sure that would cheer your friend up.
1:33 pm on August 8th, 2011
Email!… My friend just wrote me and told me to tell you guys something…grunt!… If you get any weird emails from her do not click on the link – her old email account has been hacked, just like someone else we know on this blog…grump! …. So please realize the dastardly email is not from her…..and sorry for any inconvenience or embarrassment….grumble!
1:34 pm on August 8th, 2011
Just wanted to share this with you guys:
The Prof teaches for the Hudson Link Program, through Mercy College, and appears in the film. We are very excited because the film will be shown at the Chelsea Cinema 7 in NYC on the 20th!

2:31 pm on August 8th, 2011
Where is Wookie?????
2:38 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rose!… That is very interesting that your guy teaches inmates. Does he actually go inside the jail for the classes?….snort! …Has he ever had any trouble, or been in any danger? …sniff!
2:47 pm on August 8th, 2011
Very interesting links today. I was also under the impression that Robbie was a girl.
I did see the ghost hand! The Gardens remind me of the wonderful time we’d have at the National Garden.
Rose: That sounds like a winner of a program. Thank the Prof for me.
YSAS says his head doesn’t hurt now, it’s just the rest of him. Both he and Hamlet didn’t fall correctly so they are feeling it today!
He says thanks for all your prayers, thoughts and ovations.
3:01 pm on August 8th, 2011
Mom’s at work looking at the posts on her iPhone. EVERBODY is posting links that she can’t check at work!! Rats!!
Ooh, SiberH got to see the back side of the Hot One yesterday!! That’s some fluffy tail!
3:02 pm on August 8th, 2011
Make that “everybody”.
3:10 pm on August 8th, 2011
Degree!….One thing I want to know though is, what good does it do society for those lifer inmates to get college degrees? …snort!….Seems like the educational system should try to get to them before they commit the crimes that destroy lives and land them in jail….sniff!
3:19 pm on August 8th, 2011
I had to go to the eye doctor and my eyes are still dilated. I’m wearing a baseball cap with a visor for pete’s sake…..
3:20 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rio: Yes, the Prof does actually go inside the “Big House”. I will get to see the inside of Sing Sing for the frist time when we see the film. I have only seen the outside, as the Hudson Line of the Metro North travels through the prison’s campus.
There was only one time during a class that there was an incident involving weapons out in yard. But, no, he has never been physically harmed, and in fact he enjoys teaching the men at Sing Sing more than his students at Mercy College.
Thank you, Melanie. I will sned your thanks to the Prof. BTW: How are the injured actors doing?
3:22 pm on August 8th, 2011
That should be “SEND” !!
3:24 pm on August 8th, 2011
Stover!…heh!snort!heh!…I’m glad that never happens to me…snort!…Although, I do like to wear baseball caps….chorkel!
3:24 pm on August 8th, 2011
Wolfie. I’m here and doing fine. Thanks for being concerned. So far everything is still going good, and we may even have some cooler weather here by the end of the week. Got another quilt event on Wednesday that I have to supervise for mom; a bunch of her quilt ladies will be here all day for various specialized training sessions and to begin making items that can be sold at their guild’s next quilt show (which isn’t until Oct. 2012. Those quilt ladies can really tire you out though, but they are very sweet ladies and always very nice to me. Wookie
3:26 pm on August 8th, 2011
B: I’m sure it’s a stylish baseball cap.
Rio: Not that I’m defending those who commit criminal actions, but the recidivism rate for the men who successfully complete the program and are released is very good. Hence, the name of the film “Zero Percent.”
3:32 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rose, that is an interesting article and great news that it is a 100% success for the ones that aren’t doing life.
3:37 pm on August 8th, 2011
My baseball cap is black with black sequins on the visor. My mother used to wear it golfing. (She was an excellent golfer–first in league.)
I was going to make the same point Rose makes. Those inmates don’t relapse because the education they receive has given them insight into the best way to live and think. Those who are not released could use their education to help others possibly through writing…fiction or non-fiction.
3:51 pm on August 8th, 2011
Melanie: Here is a link to an article on gluten-free flour.

3:54 pm on August 8th, 2011
Released!….I guess I must have read every other word because I was under the impression these guys were never going to be released from jail…snort!
4:10 pm on August 8th, 2011
B: Your cap sounds lovely!
Siber-H: Yes, it is, and I’m very proud of the Prof!
4:12 pm on August 8th, 2011
Wookie!… I don’t like saying anything bad about the guy, but he is always taking time off of his “00Wookie” spy job to do Soft Security type gigs like this Quilt extravaganza….grunt!… I know he gets in line for the buffet wearing that Fedora hat of his. Nobody questions his presence because he fits right in with all the other “ladies”….sniff!
4:19 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rose, I suspect that this program costs the tax payers less money in the long run than the way prison time is usually done.
4:23 pm on August 8th, 2011
Siber-H: I’m not sure about that, but I would tend to agree with you.
4:30 pm on August 8th, 2011
Just a quick hello during a slow minute in Crazy Lady land. Almost ready to head for the plane tommorow. Mama only has about 49 more details to take care of between getting home from work tonight and leaving for the airport in the morning……sigh…..
But, she’s going HOME!!!! Gonna see friends and family and fill up on green chili. And she said that they might even get to meet a baseball loving, non cooking, hole digging fan of Chet while they are in Albuquerque! Wonder who that could be??
5:23 pm on August 8th, 2011
SiberH!… You are going to meet SiberH?…. snort!…. Holy hole digging dandy! …. Please take some photos of that guy and his holes because his gal never posts any for us to see….heh!….Maybe while you are there you can give him a lesson or two on how to post photos and links….wuffle!
5:26 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rio – sorry, we are only going to be in New Mexico for a week.
Tee her
5:27 pm on August 8th, 2011
“tee hee”. Dam ipaw
5:36 pm on August 8th, 2011
Week!…What does that mean? Only a week. Does it mean you will not take photos or give lessons?…snort!
5:44 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rio. We think Siber might just be…..ummmmm…. shall we say a little resistant to comouter learning. Pics maybe, but we will only be in ABQ for a couple of hours, so we would rather just visit
5:50 pm on August 8th, 2011
Rio,
I think that means that there is not going to be nearly enough time to teach Mr.Husky all the things you want her to teach him. However I bet she will take some pictures for you.
You poor honey you.
5:54 pm on August 8th, 2011
Oh and Wookie, Have a good time with the quilt ladies. I hope they bring you treats.
6:01 pm on August 8th, 2011
How exciting to get to meet in real life. I hope you will take a few pictures to post.
Also, we know Robbie was referred to as a girl when they first talked about the book.
Lots of thunder going on here, so I have to go sit with Barb, she gets scared!
6:08 pm on August 8th, 2011
I DO NOT GET TO GO ALONG TO MEET T&G’s MOM. I have just been informed that it is too hot. This is a real bummer. They are meeting close to the airport which is about an hour from my house. If it were cool, I could go along and wait in my truck while they have coffee. I am very well behaved in my truck. Jeez
I am soooo depressed.
I could get skunked.
6:19 pm on August 8th, 2011
Very hectic day here. Trigger got stuck under the bed (all 200 + pounds) Mom finally got him out with the promise of a treat. Mailman neglected to drop off special delivery. Market continues downturn. Luckily we followed Rio’s friend’s lead and got out before the latest debacle.
6:46 pm on August 8th, 2011
Masquers, what kind of dog is Trigger? That is a big guy. This is one of those things that you will laugh about in a few days.
6:49 pm on August 8th, 2011
G’day to the Plunderers.
Sheila B: Welcome and thanks for the link. I remember Ian and Sylvia.
Rose: Congratulations to the Prof. Zero percent is amazing. I hope I can see the film someday. He has reason to be very proud of his work and the difference he has made in his students lives.
T&G’s mum meets Siber H’s mom. That is way cool (except it will be very hot)! I think Siber H. wants to get skunked.
Saving the best for last…
Mollypop: I got it! I finally got an auction item! TMG did not get the Nova needlework. That was sent even before the go ahead was given to send it so I have high hopes of receiving more items this week. Nova was sent priority mail on July 22nd.
6:56 pm on August 8th, 2011
Is Tigger a small horse?
B.Stover: I love the thought of you in a black sequined baseball cap!
Siber-H: I know you are disappointed but please do not get skunked! Maybe your friend will bring you a treat.
Can I talk about August 1st Closer? I want to talk about it with someone. Does anyone mind?
7:09 pm on August 8th, 2011
Melanie: I don’t mind reading a discussion of The Closer. I’ve only seen a few episodes.
7:12 pm on August 8th, 2011
Melanie: SDD.
7:18 pm on August 8th, 2011
Got it and back to you!
I bought my sister’s BD gift today. Here’s a picture of it!

7:19 pm on August 8th, 2011
Whoops, forgot to say it’s a rug.
7:35 pm on August 8th, 2011
I’m headed to bed. Bit tired from all the driving. Dan had a great time though.

8:15 pm on August 8th, 2011
Trigger is a Chet look-a-like. Part German Shepard Dog and part Malamute. Interesting combination. Like Chet, he’s not real fond of Kats. But I have my ways. The two of us get along fine. I’ll send a picture of him as soon as I get it together.
8:19 pm on August 8th, 2011
Melanie, Wait, Want to say I love your rug. Also, I will discuss The Closer with you. It is on as a repeat right now, before the 8:00 new one. What do you want to say?
9:06 pm on August 8th, 2011
Good night all.
9:44 pm on August 8th, 2011
Hi everyone. Sorry, nothing to say except hi everyone!
Oh – and the cookbook is looking good…
10:27 pm on August 8th, 2011
Cookbook!…What cookbook?…grunt!
10:36 pm on August 8th, 2011
Heat has dried us out
38 days plus 100
Dog days of summer? My foot!
Mom has decided that we can only write in haiku until the streak breaks. The record is 42 consecutive days over 100. That summer had a total of 69 days over 100.
WOOKIE, how did the HW treatment work out? Are you feeling tip-top yet?
10:46 pm on August 8th, 2011
Wow. What does that mean Rio?
11:05 pm on August 8th, 2011
Wookie,
I think that guarding and protecting quilters is a noble soft security job!
Which reminds me, we haven’t been on a Mission in a long, long time!
Melanie, I love the rooster rug. Can mom be your new sister? I think it might be exactly the right size for me to snooze on…..
11:06 pm on August 8th, 2011
Meaning!… It’s been so long that I’d forgotten about the cookbook…snort!
11:07 pm on August 8th, 2011
Siber – this means you vill be alone ven your mom meets Corgis mom? Hmmm…interesting. Vould you like Natasha to come keep you company?
11:09 pm on August 8th, 2011
Liz that means Rio is in a grump and can’t think of anything to cheer himself up. But he will be singing and twirling once he gets his paws on the cookbook.
I promise you.
Also when he gets his TDWKTM.
Spence, Here’s a hint. From now on easy acronym titles ONLY!
11:25 pm on August 8th, 2011
Hi Liz: I love the anticipation.
Mollypop: I think it is wonderful that you were a junior bridesmaid when you were 10 and now get to attend the 60th anniversary of that wedding with the couple. Very special.
11:29 pm on August 8th, 2011
Hey Melanie, When you read this in the morning here is a great Northern Lights video from Canada.
http://www.vimeo.com/22894171
Fascinating tales of the Northern Lights from a First Nations elder with great visuals.
11:32 pm on August 8th, 2011
Anticipation!…The period of anticipation is long over…sniff!…AbbieTheKat can talk for me all she wants but she has no clue as to what I am thinking…grunt!….We are going upstairs now. I will leave you all to anticipate tomorrow…snorkel!
12:26 am on August 9th, 2011
I anticipate a grumpy pug in the morning.
12:38 am on August 9th, 2011
and afternoon, and evening….
12:51 am on August 9th, 2011
Hmmm. I think you’re right…
1:32 am on August 9th, 2011
Once again, I’m late to the party. I’m on the road for the next few days for work which leaves AJ and dogs to their own devices. I wonder what he will build while I’m away.
Is it true? Siber-H’s mom will meet the Royals’ mum? I am so jealous.
1:33 am on August 9th, 2011
Hey, Liz! Don’t pay no never mind to the pug. His friend’s mother probably didn’t feed him enough Twinkies or whatever today! You can’t hurry quality!!!
1:36 am on August 9th, 2011
Kirby T: you are up late.
You don’t get the word ‘Evil’ in your name for always being warm and fuzzy. I say the same thing about AJ, the ‘A’ standing for ‘Angry.’ Rio is my favorite pug.
1:37 am on August 9th, 2011
Hey, Rebecca! I’m late, too! I’ve been supervising Mom while she’s been making cupcakes. Tonight’s mission: Red Velvet. Suprisingly enough, Mom has never had red velvet cake, so she’s not quite sure how they should turn out. The bride-to-be has requested red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. The kitchen’s so warm that Mom’s frosting was turning out a little soft, so she popped it in the ‘fridge for a few minutes. I’ve tried to be helpful tonight, but I have a feeling it’s not going to earn me even a little taste of cupcake!!!
2:56 am on August 9th, 2011
Kirby T: Sometimes the role of a supervisor is a thankless one.
