MLK Day

“I act white?” said Bernie when we were back in the car.

What was this? Bernie white, in some way or other? Couldn’t have been his skin, which was always nice and tan, in that reddish Bernie way. The truth is there’s not much color variety when it comes to humans, not compared to how we roll in the nation within. Take me, for example: mostly black but with one white ear, which I know on account of how many people mention it in my presence. Ever seen a human colored like me? The point is humans go on and on about skin colors when it isn’t even one of their strengths. And they have so many strengths: cars, tennis balls, bacon, and that’s just without even thinking, which is how my mind works best.

Good morning, all! Mom is at work. No holiday here. Hope all in the northern, cold states are doing fine. The 1 day freeze we had 2 weekends ago froze Mom’s porch plants. Hope they will come back. It was a risk not moving them, but the pots are just too heavy and the plants too big. They are from Dad’s funeral and Mom has been so proud of keeping them alive!!

Good morning BooBear and everyone. Every day is a holiday when you are retired ????. Foggy but should warm up today. It is like spring in January.
We like Chet’s “without even thinking, which is how my mind works best.”
Enjoy today, whatever you have planned.

Chet has some good insight going there. Way too much attention paid to skin tones with humans. Something to really think about today as we celebrate the life of a remarkable man.

Overcast and a rainy mix going on most of the day. If colder, we would be getting a lot of snow.

Excellent Chet! This puts me in mind of an episode from the original “Star Trek”: two groups of people, one with white on one half of the face and black on the other half and the other group with the white and black halves reversed. The two groups will have nothing to do with one another because of that difference. It showed the absurdity of segregation and prejudice. (“Stupidity” would probably be a better word than absurdity.)

    Good morning all.

Good Morning All–Excellent points made by Chet and elaborated by the blog family.
thank you for the photo of Wee Nigel. Do you think his ears will continue to grow, or will he “grow into” them?

We think the Wee Nigel’s ears are perfect. (Whispering, they remind us of Sally Field’s habit in the old TV ???? show “The Flying Nun”.

Chet: The Human Race can be very Strange…no use trying to figure them out…of course we know you don’t waste time on such things.

B: The original Star Trek was way before its Time. Someone Here has watching every single episode.

Our Thought is Wee Nigel will continue to Grow Into those Ears.

I plan on using at least 2 out of 3 of my best strengths today.

BooBear: I hope your plants recover or you can at least get some slips to restart.

BooBear: Too late now, and I know this was a rare occurrence, but covering plants to protect against frost is always an option. Paws crossed they will bounce back as the weather turns warmer.

Happy MLK Day everyone. Lucky Federal and State employees have the day off…everyone else is at the busy place…except the retirees and Riõ’s friend.

Staff, They’re just hanging out, waiting for the spring planting!

It will rain here for almost 24 hours. Wonder how much snow it would be if temps were colder. I am thinking well over a foot.

Average rain to snow ratio is 10 inches of snow for every inch of rain.

  24. BMALS
    9:59 pm on January 16th, 2017

Thanks, Staff. I bet we have 1-1.5 inches of rain, so that would be 10-15″ of snow.
