Memorial Day

We remember.

This is from THEREBY HANGS A TAIL:

“Where does it say I have to see your sorry face again?” Bernie said.

“Right back at ya,” said Colonel Bob. He strode up to Bernie. Was a fight about to break out? Colonel Bob was a big guy, bigger than Bernie. I got ready. But instead of a fight the two of them shook hands, and then Colonel Bob pulled Bernie close and they started slapping each other’s backs real hard. Colonel Bob turned to the other pilots and said, “Gonna need that bottle of JD from my office. Weren’t for this asshole you wouldn’t have to be putting up with my bullshit.”

“Why is that, Colonel?” said one of the pilots.

“Son of a bitch saved my goddamn life, is why,” said Colonel Bob. “Say hi to Bernard Little.”

Bernie’s name was Bernard? I was just finding that out now? What the hell was going on?

Good morning everyone. We remember, too. So many. Have a memorable Memorial Day and safe travels to those away from home.
P.S. Darah slept on the people bed last night after her rough day. She’ll be right as rain soon. Staples for the nick and antibiotics.

Today we can laugh. Neck nick. A pile of Darah hair at the groomer as big as Darah. (And that’s not small.) We have taken the cone of shame off, she is calmer without it. BTW a one dog Newfie night in late May is way too warm!

    Greetings!

Grizz and I got home at about 2 o’clock this afternoon. Going to Boston is always fun for us. We enjoy it there so much, we hate to leave. I am trying to convince Grizz that we need to live there…

HOH: Glad Darah Thea is on the mend!

C.Hobbitz: I am laughing out loud at the picture of Sadie’s food bowl. She is one smart dog! :^)

RIO! Isn’t the day getting closer to when you move into the little red and white house?

We remember the many who have served to keep us free! Thank you.

Mom had a long weekend with plans to get a lot done around the house and she got about 1/3 of it done. She doesn’t feel too bad about it though. It was her holiday and sleeping late is a luxury she doesn’t get very often. However, these four days off has her concerned about how fat she will get when she retires! Goodness, she has been in snack heaven! Hopefully, she will learn to control herself.

Oops, forgot to tell you. I think I told you about the dog someone dumped off on our street. Mom had him for about 10 days and had him checked out at the vet. He has now moved to his forever home and is settling in great with his dog sister and new parents! Good thing he went when he did because both he and mom were getting too attached.

Good news for the dog. Getting attached, that is something dogs do well to two leggers.

BooBear: If Nameless needs us to teach him how to be a well behaved dog, just say the word. It’s on the house.

Hi everyone, I’m just back from a weekend at the lake, sunburned and tired, but happy. There were 8 dogs there and none of them were mine. There was a 4 month old lemon beagle and a 6 week old tri color beagle in the mix. Mo, the senior beagle got to go out on the jet ski. So did I. I also went out on the kayak. Overall, a great holiday weekend! Hope yours was, too.

    Nice car, Hobbit.

Earthquake. Thought it was Sadie scratching and bumping against the couch. lol. I sneezed this morning (as part of my cold) and threw my back out. Can hardly move but all animals ate fed.

ML: what a wonderful weekend you had. I am happy to experience it vicariously without the sunburn.

Glad CHobbitz is okay and Sadie wasn’t throwing the couch. May all your aftershocks be minor.

I hate to sneeze. For me it is my neck that hurts. But I have never thrown it out.

We had another cat dropped off yesterday. A sweet orange one. It sat outside our doors and cried this evening so I texted the neighbor who has LOTS of cats. It wasn’t hers but she said to bring it over. It let me catch it, after some food was offered and consumed. It is a very friendly sad kitty. My neighbor has had lots of cats over the years. She has a deal with a vet for getting them spayed or fixed. She is low on cats right now. Only 3 in the house and about 6 out in the horse barn. She has had as many as 20 outside before she had the deal with the vet.
Right now the orange kitty is in her lower story in the carrier getting used to the new place. She/he is not afraid of dogs which is a good thing as there are two of them at the house. I pray the little kitty adjusts to their house. All her animals are well cared for and friendly. She has horses, dogs and cats.

They take care of our kitties when we go away and we return the favor.

The neighbor told me that the thing with animals right now is people are stealing dogs out of farmyards. This horrifies me.
