Barb’s companions before me were Alexias and Alexander, her two Airedales. Thew were known as Lexie and Xander. I never got to meet them, but they moved with her to the farm and spent some good times there before they crossed over.

Morning y’all. Mom is of to take her mom to the doc so bbl. yesterday moms went to her happy pill doc and found out that they don’t take her insurance any more, so instead of $20 it was $80. Mom needs extra heavy duty happy pills now. And a new doc :/

There is a pool set up for insurance for people with no jobs. It should be much cheaper than it used to be; however, I think the states have until 2014 to get it set up.

I am guessing it is taking Comcast longer than Stover expected to get her internet working. It was a holiday weekend and yesterday was the first day of work. It would be hoping for too much for them to get the internet fixed in one day. It took them two days to get my internet working.

Rio, If your friend is on group ins. she should have COBRA available to her. It is a continuation of her current insurance, usually available for 18 months, but sometimes quite expensive. If she keeps her COBRA until she gets another job, then she is basically considered to be going from group to group w/o a lapse in coverage.

Staff, What are you getting at the greenhouse?
Barb walks out to her garden every few house. Beans, spinach and beets are coming up. This is the 2nd time for spinach and beets. Hope these don’t get eaten! You can practically watch beans grow. They are Barb’s favorite seeds to plant. This warm weather is really great for little growing things.

Rio, nothing that I am aware of. Your friend wouldn’t qualify for state aid, since she has assets. I think (but don’t know for sure) that most state health programs are for low income. Maybe there is something that is for people temporarily unemployed. You can also buy what is called a “short term” policy thru most ins. companies. These are very reasonable in price, but don’t cover pre-existing conditions. You pick a term of coverage (30 to 180 days), pay for it all at once, but no premium is refunded if you don’t need it for the entire time.

Rio and Barb, there will be Insurance Exchanges for anyone not covered under employers’ group health insurance plans. There will be a website where you go to select the one you want. Mom says she will research the website for you, but she thinks each state has their own.

Speaking of organic . .
My plants have been waiting patiently to get planted. It is finally warm enough. We had one 32 degree night over the weekend, and the forecast looks good.
The tomatoes are in . . Four sun gold cherry tomatoes and one celebrity. I doubt the large tomato will get many ripe ones, but I was going for fried green tomatoes.
The squash . . Two each of summer and zucchini.
A large something that is a perineal, that has the word feather in the name.
A planter with petunias that will cascade down and something else that goes up. Wish theguy hadn’t taken off the names.
The strawberries look happy.
There are less beetles and more wasps on the aspargus.
I still have to plant the peppers, cucumbers, and fix the salad wall,
Hoping it stays dry for awhile.

Howlers: We tend to get closer to the extreme temperatures of interior Alaska where CHobbit lives and the percipitation of Anchorage. We will have 100 degrees in the kennel from time to time. Maybe sometime my Lady will tell you about a 100 degree stretch, a tarp and Pancho.

Yes, it is super hot in interior Alaska. With almost 24-hour sunlight it means that it doesn’t cool down much and no one has air conditioning in their houses. Plus the angle of the sun makes it very direct. It is 100 degrees on my south-facing deck which gets full sun. My poor black dog (Sadie) is suffering. These temps are unusual and can cause problems for animals and people not used to them. It is supposed to cool down next week.
The next 4 days I am painting my colorful interior walls “neutral” colors. {{{sniff}}} There have been no showings since it was listed two weeks ago and my realtor says that the other realtors who looked at it online commented negatively on the paint. Sad but I need to sell the house so whatever it takes. Please send good thoughts my way so I can move forward into my next life. Thanks. And welcome back, Bee.

Mom just got an update on Jaxon, who has been on breathing tube and stuff all this time, and things were looking bad. He had surgery a week ago. They rebuilt his left side of the heart, arteries, and all.
“He’s breathing at 100% and his heart is working at 100% all by himself!!! And his pulmonary veins are wide open!!!!!”

C Hobbit, We loved your decor. Unfortunately many buyers are inexperienced and can’t picture rooms in a different color. It seems crazy to me, but I just toured my niece’s beautiful home while in St. Louis last week. She said they almost didn’t buy it because she “couldn’t get past the tile behind the counter tops in the kitchen”. It wasn’t even real tile, but press on sheets that could be removed in a couple of hours. People have no imagination. It is too bad you have to take away all the personality to get buyers.

B&M: The Giant might say my Lady only went on imagination when they bought our house. She really a lot of land more than anything. Just as they were on their way to meet the realtor to see the house/property, AJ was struck with food poisoning. He was sick with a capital -ICK. She toured the small homestead while AJ tried to keep the stomach and the earth from spinning. My Lady put an offer on the house and then told AJ. Later, when he was feeling better, they went back. As they peered through the windows AJ said, “Oh, what have you done.” My Lady’s response?—“We can fix ugly.”

MPM…somehow we missed your shout-out yesterday. Thanks, and it is strange to realize that we have really been hanging out for years.
Our Girl Niki is coming tomorrow!! That means that the spare room/junk pile has to be dealt with. Bad part is that she is coming for the memorial service for a friend we have know all his life. 32 years old, 2 little (3 and 5)girls, dropped dead at the airport over the weekend. So sad for his mom Ann as she lost her husband the same way last year and Grant looked just like his dad.

Macy, It is so hard when a young one goes over. We are sorry about Grant and we are really happy for young Jaxon who is a plucky young lad.
Barb and Maggie I went looking for some red trailing plants to put in two hanging baskets. I want them to go by two of my hummingbird feeders. I put 2 Red wave petunias and one Coral Red Verbena in each pot. The Red Wave petunias have not bloomed yet so they just look pink right now but I have high hopes. I think gardening is all about hope.
We are having a light shower now. It is making everything look greener.

Oh well, Rio, what I meant was ever in the playoffs and that is because the NHL is moving the Redwings out of the Eastern Division and into the Western Division (I think that’s right) and you play teams from your own division in the playoffs, since they will be in different divisions, they will not play against each other in the playoffs. They will still play against each other in the regular season. Stupid move on the NHL’s part because both teams are members of the original 6 teams and are great rivals.
