Are MRIs really a good idea? I thought too much was not good?

    Well, interesting study anyway.

And now I am off for St. Louis and my mini vacay. See you Monday! Have a good rest of your week, everyone!

Hello Kady. You’re doing good work.

Cicadas are calling out all around here.

    Good morning all.

Here’s a link to an article on katydids for Rio. It’s interesting especially the section on etymology. I had a really big grasshopper on my window the other day. Now I have to look up cicada.

Rio’s cicada story reminded us of a silly children’s story about “The Ugly Bug Ball”. The last line goes something like this: What a happy time we’ll habe there, one and all at the ugly bug ball.

Here’s a link to an article on cicada including picture and sound. The ones around here have a high pitched buzz. I love the sound. (The Mourning Doves are part of the background.) From the picture and Rio’s description of the wings, I think his friend had a cicada nearby. (Tupper and Gilly’s comment last night made me laugh.)

Forgot: I hear grasshoppers every night during the summer but the cicadas only seem to call during the day.

Mom didn’t get a chance to share how she got hook on C&B. She was at and independent book store (Murder by the Book) for a talk and signing by Lee Child (author of the Reacher series) and they had the book on display. She went home with that book as well as Lee Child’s autograph. By the way, that bookstore is where she has had the privilege to see OFA several times over the years (at least 3, maybe 4 times!)

    Good morning all
BooBear – hahaha. Been there, done that too. (typos, not at the bookstore)
Mama is taking an hour off from building, creating, packing and organizing. She says she needs to recharge her batteries. We are pretty sure this involves Corgi petting.

A heat advisory has been issued for our area. We will be laying low for the next few days.

Weatherkat, thanks for that info. Stay cool 🙂 We are laughing at mom trying to “multi-task”…soot removal from dishes, laundry, bill paying and checking this here blog and fone messages. We mentioned dropping that and spending time with US!

Howdy from the Southland! Around my home, “Good Boy” means “Zeus is getting treats!”
BooBear, I did not notice any typos.

B: Curious…is cicada another name for katydid?

  19. Herd of Hounds
    3:07 pm on August 18th, 2016

We will let B. explain in her wonderful way but it appears they are different with different sounds and time schedules. Hey, they have more than 4 legs so mom doesn’t so them.

Masquers: You can see the difference between katydids and cicadas in my links this morning: 9:59 and 10:09

  21. B.Stover
    4:14 pm on August 18th, 2016

Masquers: To be more specific: I think katydids are grasshoppers. They are green and rather large (three inches long) and are in the grass. Around here you can hear them at night in the summer. Cicadas are smaller and brown with clear wings. Here they call out during the day in the summer and are in trees.

We have had an abundance of dragonflies lately – in the house, dancing over the car when we are at stop lights, playing in the back yard.
In our ways, dragonflies are messengers who bring blessings.
We are taking this in the very best way possible.

We have cicadas her in the early evenings. They are very loud. After they finish their songs, we hear the crickets. There are no other sounds here at night (except for those cayote).
