Mayor Frida of San Francisco

How did we miss this yesterday? What a great idea! Let’s take it national and make it permanent.

Good morning, everyone! Yeah for Frida. Safe and enjoyable Wednesday to all.

The storm finally moved north, giving us an inch of snow. Right now it’s snowing in Niagara Falls. South of us, there are still 100 people stranded on the thruway. There has been a fifth death. A 46 year old man’s car went into a ditch and then got covered with 12 feet of snow.

We have the same question as Howlers.

We did not wake up to snow on the ground, as was predicted.

Tried to look at the Frida article but it would not scroll. Will try again later.

After reading last night’s comments, I, of course, had to find out the derivation of “pugnacious.” It is from Latin “pugnare” meaning to fight, which in turn is derived from Latin “pugnus” meaning fist. (And I like the name Fink for a rat.)

I plan to watch Gilmore Girls tonight.

I don’t know about all of the other deaths. I think a few were heart attacks.

This is funny. The buffalo library just said they will not charge late fees on any books that were due today. I’m sure people will be so relieved because this is what they were most concerned about.

Morning all. Sunny and ice cold here.

We are claiming bragging rights. There is a wonderful craft and artisan center called Snow Farm. They have an annual sale every November that lady’s 3 weekends. Artisans from many disciplines bring their work, the Snow Farm staff displays and sells it, and part of the sales go to support Snow Farm. Last weekend was the opening. Snow Farm called yesterday to say they were about sold out of our jewelry, and could we bring more. That made us happy, but then we saw the SnowFarm fb page – they are featuring our jewelry on the front page!
We are really honored, especially since there is so much wonderful jewelry up there.

Usually there are a few heart attacks from snow shoveling. Must pace yourself!

We had a rat for years known as HollyBerry Rat. She was Kelly’s project in behavioral mod. class in college. After working with her for several months, she was supposed to turn her over to the medical lab class to have her brain dissected. Kelly went to her lab and kidnapped the rat, smuggling her out in her coat. Her prof. saw her, and since Kelly was extremely attractive, he said “I didn’t see a thing”. She then gave Holly to Josh and me as a Christmas gift. Smart girl! How can you say no to a Christmas gift? She lived out her life with us, along with a Dobbie named Chloe and Mr Kitty.

Well, maybe it could be lady’s day out weekends. That is probably what you meant.

They just said 3 of the 5 deaths are from shoveling.

The storm is just finishing out up north over Niagara Falls. Just another inch or so and it’s done. But everybody had better clean up quickly because Lake Erie is not done with us. Tonight another Lake effect storm will start up and be over us but go to the south, so they think, and the people who were already badly hit might get another foot or so.

DianeC is right…S.F. isn’t the only city that to have the honor of a furry-faced offical…a town in Alaska has had a Kat mayor for many years.

Siber-H, yes, a warm-up is coming. Saturday will be in the 40’s and by Tuesday it may be 60’s. There will be flooding and maybe after that the locusts will come. Hee hee.

I shouldn’t joke about that because having lived all my life in this area, we have never had anything like this. This is truly a historic storm and it isn’t over yet. When we had the blizzard of ’77, there was no snowfall. It was the blizzard winds that blew all the snow in from the frozen lake. Then in 2000 we had 7 feet of snow. But that snow fell over six days and each day it packed down so it never looked like more than 3 feet of snow.

This is beyond belief. We have never had so much snow all at once. People in Buffalo do a happy dance when Lake Erie freezes.

Howler’s, No, not a kat. That would be bad for this country.

Momma is doing the Happy Dance today. She has been trying to get Pop to look into a hearing aid for eons. He finally did! He had to go to an ENT doc this week, because his one ear got completely clogged from water. So while he was there, he was tested, and it was proven how bad his hearing is. Today, he went for his hearing aid evaluation. He needs 2 of them! And he will have them on Monday. HOORAY!
Now, when he does not hear Momma, she will know that it is just “selective hearing”. 🙂

Beau, Do you want to run away from home with me? I have packed all of my worldly possessions, which consist of some chewed-up tennis balls and a chewed-up squeaky fox. I am no longer wanted in this here house.
Mom left me all alone today. I thought it might be forever, and I was so scarit that nobody would ever feed me again. So I foraged and found some beans with little black dots on them, lying in a bowl of water. They were not real tasty, but a guy has to do what a guy has to do. They just said on TV that there is some kind of chute that sends the snow out of the stadium into a waiting dump truck. When the dump truck is full the next one pulls up. Hey…wait a minute…..

speaking of kittens, Mama went to the v e t’s office today to check on Cubbins. So far, all tests have come up negative. And the entire staff has fallen in love with him.

The v e t said that a lady who just lost her long time kitty is coming to meet Cubbins, if that was ok with Mama. She said that if it was a good, indoor only home, he could go there. The v e t said it would be a wonderful home, and it would be indoor. So, the little orphan kitty may be going to a good forever home. We think Mama is kinda sad, but Basil and Sage say it would be for the best.

They may be truckers who didn’t want to leave their trucks and are still being dug out but I don’t know that for sure either. There have been a couple more deaths bringing the death toll to seven. One death was a man who was helping push a car and was hit. This last one was just reported with the cause unknown.

I think the stranded people have been taken to shelters. One required an ambulance. At this point maybe they just need food and people on snowmobiles are going around to the stranded cars to see who’s in them and bring food.

MPM, That does not sound like a very exciting diet. Do you have some meat and veggies on hand?

Howlers, 1 1/2 doesn’t sound very old for a breeder to be giving up a dog. Some of the unethical ones start with the first heat and breed every six months till the poor dog is worn out. I think the puppy mill dogs last several years. In the English Shepherd Registry you can not register a litter if the mom is under 18 months, and you cannot register a litter if there have been more than two back to back breedings. That makes it harder for the puppy mill pieces of s**t.

HOH, Those folks never feed our kind what we deserve. I mean, I work hard on this farm.
Isn’t it rather surreal how, with all of our modern technology, we still are at the mercy of the weather and natural disasters. It seems like pioneer days.

Thanks, Barb. That makes more sense. Leslie thinks this Sibe girl might be one of those recently rescued from a puppy mill down south.

Kat: I have your photo in my dog house. I give it a lick before I leave for each training run. You are my special girl. I’d like for you to wear my dog jacket. Even though I’m focused on training,Luna said I need to take courting guidance from Ruff Rider who treats Zeta very well. Luna said I am not to take dating advice from Pancho or Lefty.

Zeus, mom read the Little House books to us and even though we have lots of nifty stuff here, we think the pioneers were better prepared for the weather since they had to be ready for anything!

MPM – we are glad you are warm and dry and high up. We will keep you and LouLou, and all of the folks in Buffalo in our prayers.

Decisions will have to be made tomorrow. Gramp is now thinking that he may want to hold onto Cubbins. Basil is Gramp’s Kat and he is none too pleased about the idea.
If the v e t recommended home really loves him, we should let him go there. But then again, Gramp has his feelings too….

oh dear….it’s not going to be easy.

Tough decision ahead. Do you think Gramps want to hold on to something of your brother? That may have something to do with it. Either way, Cubbins seems like he will be landing in a great home.

Now we are going to say good night. Work day tomorrow.

Have a safe and warm night everyone, and we will pray that the snow stops out east.

    Gus up top.

Alice has been living in the closet in the quilt room. She only comes out if we go in and reach into the box of yarn she sleeps on and pet her and talk to her. Then she graces us with her presence for a little while. As far as I can tell she is not eating too much. Grump and spit.

Abbie is adjusting. She still doesn’t like the little buggers but she has discovered they are afraid of her so she is no longer afraid of them.

They are incarcerated for one more night. We all (the kittens and I) had a nap today. They like to sleep right by your face.
Abbie left the bed when they came up.

    Night all!
