Good morning!
We loved that commercial. What’s not to love? Horses, an adorable puppy, and (Mom says) a gorgeous guy. But really, did it make you want to drink a Bud? Not us.
AJ: Thanks for the update. Should we be worried for Philip and his team? We are most anxious to know who is on whose team. Also, we would like to hear more about the Knik 200, like who led, who was swing, etc.
BM&L, Mom asked the chickie vet the same question you ask: how does a chickie get a bacterial infection? The vet said that chickies are very susceptible and very bad at fighting off infections. She said it was likely that Cleida stepped on something out in the yard that made a tiny little scratch in her foot or something, and that led to an infection. Or, it could have been that some critter (we are thinking a mouse!) nipped her a teensy bit. Who knows.
Rio, regarding the Hot Shot. Your friend loves him. Tell her to just give him lotsa room right now and try to live with it until it all settles down. Mom has a motto: Never take a job or leave a job because of who the boss is. Reason: It is very likely to change.
And, for the really big news: Kat woke us up at 2am, insisting she must go out out out! Then she would not come in. Mom tried to get her, in her coveralls and boots, but there was no way she could catch a Kat who didn’t want to be caught, on 16 acres of snow. So, Kat spent the rest of the Full Snow Moon OUT !!! Gasp!!!!

Good morning, O’H and everyone! Gotta love puppy and horsey..beer with it? Not so much. Sick chick so sad. Heal Cl. chick. Kat, you scamp, you are too young to be out all night!
Have a worry-free Wednesday 🙂

WE found the bookstore with somethong for every dog (Kat and Rio in particular).

P.S. RJ “talked” for 6 hours straight? What an aptly named little guy!
9:09 am on February 4th, 2015
Kat, who is a good girl!
HOH, Must be missing something. Who is RJ?
We like the cartoon. Best one for us is “Squirrel Watching Without Trembling”.
9:13 am on February 4th, 2015
OK, read AJ’s post, so now know you mean Rio, JR. We often cannot figure out what you are talking abooot!
9:29 am on February 4th, 2015
Maggie, Where have you been? RJ is my steady. I much prefer to call him RJ rather than Junior, which sounds so immature to be my man.
9:41 am on February 4th, 2015
Kat, I must have been reading every other word.
9:43 am on February 4th, 2015
Here below the Mason-Dixon line, lots of folks use initials instead of their given names. The other thing (which we hate) is using the diminutive of first and/or middle names like: Jimmy John, Rickey Jimmy, Bobby Joey ad nauseum.
9:49 am on February 4th, 2015
Morning all. Great report from AJ. And we figure that was what RJ was doing too – reporting.
Love the bookstore. Of corse, being Royals, we already know about the silent emanations book. Might even say, we wrote the book. Heh heh.
There are big, fat snowflakes wafting down from a platinum colored sky. This does not bode well.
9:57 am on February 4th, 2015
I love that commercial. Looks like the same crew from last year.
The sky here is platinum also.
Good morning all.
10:20 am on February 4th, 2015
Good Morning All–Adding chickie to the prayer list, and hoping that Kat comes in.
Falling apart with preparations for next week’s term start, so lurking for now.
Prayers and blessings to all two- and four-leggeds, and across the universe.

How to spend a snowy day

10:44 am on February 4th, 2015
Diane C. Not to worry. I was in first thing in the morning. I would NEVER miss my breakfast!
10:50 am on February 4th, 2015
I got very little sleep last night. How could I sleep when my prodigal daughter was out under that Big Full Snow Moon? I wanted to be out there to protect her. Mom thought about letting me out so she would feel that Kat was safe, but Pop’s theory is that, while Kat is a run-from-danger type girl, I am …. well let’s just say there will be no critters trespassing on my turf while I can do anything about it.
10:54 am on February 4th, 2015
Whew – Kat, you are a naughty doggie. You must have scared both your moms half to death. Not funny, young lady. Not funny at all.
(Glad you are home safe now)
11:02 am on February 4th, 2015
Awww, Tupper’s mama. You are just like my momma and my mama: a worrier. I never left home. I was just hanging out in my yard and it was a bright as the middle of the day, with that big moon and the snow cover. It was fun fun fun!
11:03 am on February 4th, 2015
Gasp!
11:13 am on February 4th, 2015
See what happens when you stay out late young lady? Your avatar overslept!
11:32 am on February 4th, 2015
Kat we are glad you are home. No more middle of the night adventures! You worry all the mommies on this your blog.
11:48 am on February 4th, 2015
I would have voted for the lost dog video had I known the country was voting. We will remember that commercial, and I don’t remember any of the other commercials…too many, too fast, and too loud.
AJ Thanks for the update. I was wondering how Junior behaved during the race.
It was funny to read, but I am sure it wasn’t funny to experience.
Kat is turning into a true Siber Husky. My mom doesn’t think that staying out stunt was smart. She knows how difficult it is to catch a Siber that doesn’t want to be caught.
12:06 pm on February 4th, 2015
We loved the Bud commercial, except for the bad wolf part. I guess they needed a villain to make the story work, but wolves already have an undeserved bad reputation.
12:25 pm on February 4th, 2015
B&M&L, Miss Sonja, mom’s first dog was 80 o/o wolf and very maternal. A sweetie.
12:37 pm on February 4th, 2015
How do you end up 80% wolf? If 3 of the grandparents were wolf, and 1 was a dog then it would be 75%, if half dog and half wolf= 50%. Always wondered how you came up with 80%, and why would you want a wolf rather than a dog as a domestic pet? They are still basically a wild animal with highly developed prey drive. I had an acquaintance that had a coydog years ago, and she was fine with family members, but the women wouldn’t let anyone else stay in the room with her alone.
12:47 pm on February 4th, 2015
AJ: Loved your updates on the teams and race and Riõ, Jr has been reading “The Joys of Nocturnal Barking” we see.
But, after seeing the video, curiosity has the best of me…at the end of the Knik 200 what in Kat were they looking for in your sled??
Sage, You definitely have the right idea and I’m about to follow suit.
1:01 pm on February 4th, 2015
Masquers, I am guessing they were checking AJ’s sled to see if he had the equipment and gear he was required to carry in it.
I would not think it would take that many people to check it out.
1:17 pm on February 4th, 2015
Maybe they were checking to see if there were any cookies or Twix candy left?
1:19 pm on February 4th, 2015
It was a rather frantic search.
The Snowhook dogs looked great arriving at the finish line.
1:48 pm on February 4th, 2015
Barb 80% is an estimation of 3 generations with 75 or 100 in the mix on both sides. The mother rejected 13 pups and at 5 weeks they were learning to be independent. B I L had her older sis. We sat in the middle of pups and she sniffed the DDD, sniffed the mom dog and fell asleep between us. Did not choose her intentionally but she seemed to want us. She rode from Sacramento to San Diego under the seat of the truck. We stopped every 2 hours for “business”. No “oopses”. She was always a great traveller. a
She wasn’t “wild”, just stubborn, but so is Darah Thea at times.
1:48 pm on February 4th, 2015
Love the picture of Sage.
1:49 pm on February 4th, 2015
Did we just read there are NO TWIXT left????? Do we need to hunt down more?
Let us know ASAP so the hunt can begin.
1:50 pm on February 4th, 2015
I missed something. Where did you see the video with the search of AJ’s sled?
1:55 pm on February 4th, 2015
Stover, On Snowhook’s facebookie page.
1:58 pm on February 4th, 2015
Thank you Siber-H. I’ll check it out.
2:05 pm on February 4th, 2015
Siber: As fast as the team came across the finish line, they may have been checking for rocket fuel. Heh.
2:14 pm on February 4th, 2015
Don’t do Facebook, is the any other way to watch the video? Enjoyed following the race on the tracker site. Great result! Go Snowhook!
2:15 pm on February 4th, 2015
Masquers, you crack us up…rocket fuel indeedy!
2:25 pm on February 4th, 2015
Trisha, I don’t do facebookie either. I have never signed up with it, but I can go there on pages that are open to the public, like Snowhooks, and play the videos, look at the pictures, and read what people are saying.
2:27 pm on February 4th, 2015
Trisha, we don’t do facebookie either. YOu are in good company. You can see the first FB post before you have to sign in. Watching races live??? From near the Arctic circle? Watch the tracker like you did, it is the best way in an imperfect world.
2:30 pm on February 4th, 2015
Thanks Sober and HOH, I didn’t realise that the were bits you could access without joining. That has opened up a whole new world of exciting opportunities!
2:32 pm on February 4th, 2015
HOH, I have a great respect and admiration for wolves and I feel terrible about the great injustices that have been done to them out west. Times are better for them and organizations like Defenders of Wildlife have done much to help bring back and protect the wild packs.
I also have read that it is illegal in CA, and most states, to keep a wolf in captivity. Permits are required to keep hybrids, as well as approved housings. Also, they are never recommended for a first time dog owner, as they need a very strong Alpha. They are still a wild animal, and as such, can be a danger to neighborhood pets and small kids. Didn’t you say you caught yours dragging off a visiting baby once? Nurturing or a potential meal? If you like the look of the wolf, why not have a husky or malamute or GSD? They are all beautiful, but totally domesticated. I guess I don’t understand taking such an animal out of their element. It takes a huge commitment, and many end up in sanctuaries or being put down. I know your situation turned out ok, but many don’t. That’s why I think its a bad idea in most cases. Stepping off soapbox now.
2:32 pm on February 4th, 2015
Oops, sorry Siber. The corking Otter was at play again!
2:34 pm on February 4th, 2015
So how do I find the Snowhook Facebook thingie? Help please!
2:45 pm on February 4th, 2015
Trish, Google “Snowhook facebook” and the return should come right up.
2:46 pm on February 4th, 2015
B&M&L, that is what is so funny about Sonja stealing the baby…it was DDD’s first g son and my first s g son. We TOLD son sna dil NOT to put the brat down, that the god would want to take it and raise it. Problems with wolves come when humans think they are “cute dogs”. Our Sonja needed strength!nDDD was the alpha male! (end of diacussion) Mom was the alpha female! Sonja was a butt biter. Mom warned her several times then treated her like a cub. The next time she nipped a butt (mom’s), mom grabbed her tail and crunched it. (Barb, the awfulest thing I ever did, but it showed the gal that I was the alpha and she stepped back into place). NO the hybrid is not for everyone but hybrids are what eventually became domestic dogs. I prefer my Newfs and siber mixes but thank dog that a wolf showed me the way.
2:48 pm on February 4th, 2015
They just seem in a hurry to me. Aren’t they in the way of others crossing the finish line?
2:49 pm on February 4th, 2015
Finish line in a legal fashion, yes.
2:52 pm on February 4th, 2015
Stover, That could very well be the reason for the speedy search with so many people involved in it.
3:04 pm on February 4th, 2015
Thanks Siber!
3:26 pm on February 4th, 2015
You’re welcome!
3:28 pm on February 4th, 2015
Trisha – good to hear from you, girlfriend.
We are spending the day trying to keep bored Gramp amused. Even the critters are in on it, all being silly.

Pictures from a snowy day.
3:29 pm on February 4th, 2015
4:04 pm on February 4th, 2015
I like the name RJ. It sounds kool.
Trisha: Heh, heh…he is a sober Siber.
Great fotos, but almost everyone is napping!
4:14 pm on February 4th, 2015
Beautiful Callie. Such a gal! Mmm? Are you and the Pookster related?
4:26 pm on February 4th, 2015
When RJ asked me to wear his jacket, he said I could call him “RJ”, but I don’t know if he wants others to call him that. He and I are an Item, you know.
4:31 pm on February 4th, 2015
4:33 pm on February 4th, 2015
And Kat, youse are quite the item!
4:38 pm on February 4th, 2015
Just don’t let Darah and others wake mom at 5 am…okay?
4:56 pm on February 4th, 2015
Kat, I seem to remember you talking mighty flirtish with another fellow (can’t quite remember who right now.) Does Rio Jr still consider you two exclusive???
Inquiring minds want to know!!
5:08 pm on February 4th, 2015
In Canada, we do not get the same commercials as y’all do. They are the normal, run of the mill commercials suitable for refreshing drinks and snacks or running to the bathroom.
Kat: Is RJ aware that you were out gallivanting half the night?
AJ: Thanks for your post. Doesn’t Rio Jr. keep the rest of youse awake? Did he run the whole Knik 200 without sleeping?!
HOH: Interesting titles in that bookstore!
Tupper, Sage, Blondie, Callie: Love your pictures, as always.
I went to the v e t for the results of MRI. There is a tear in my supraspinatus tendon but it is small so recommendation is to let it heal on its own – no surgery. That is a relief.
DianeC: I dedicate today’s nap to you!
5:29 pm on February 4th, 2015
O.K. I’ll bite (heh heh! Not really). What is a super spinatus?
R.J. Would approve of spending a beautiful moonlit night out in the great wide open. I am sure of it.
I love all of youse FODs!
5:36 pm on February 4th, 2015
Kat: the Supra spinatus is a tendon that runs under your armpit and wraps around your shoulder. Or something like that. That tendon has been giving me grief for almost a year now although it is slowly getting better. Don’t ask me how I tore it, I do not know.
I hope Rio’s friend is not being yelled at or treated rudely by Canadians or anyone else today. I hope the hot-shot keeps his head on his shoulders today. It is hard enough to go on the icy roads to work each day without having any extra stress.
6:11 pm on February 4th, 2015
Mom accidentally left a door open today that she shouldn’t have when she went to work. I just can’t understand why she is upset, I know this is the second C&B book I have gotten my paws and mouth onto, but I am just trying to learn all about Chet and Bernie!!

6:22 pm on February 4th, 2015
Yeep, Tundra! And I’ll bet it was Pawtographed too!
6:27 pm on February 4th, 2015
Yeeep!…Who’s a bad dawg?….chorkel!
6:29 pm on February 4th, 2015
Oh Tundra…
6:53 pm on February 4th, 2015
Kat, RJ might approve of spending the night out under the Full Snow Moon, but he would bark the entire time.
Tundra, Cute picture. What a handsome guy!
I am trying to deflect here.
7:05 pm on February 4th, 2015
Tundra – we know you just did an extra-naughty so everyone would forget about Kat’s transgressions.
Dawson – bigg woo hoo for no surgery!
Just got back from wonderfluffing. Been shorn like a sheep.
7:09 pm on February 4th, 2015
I guess the Chet and Bernie books are good in many different ways.
7:09 pm on February 4th, 2015
Tundra, you are sooooooooooo good looking (with the TFAT in front of you).
We love hearing from you!
7:17 pm on February 4th, 2015
Tupper’ Mama, Perhap the sheepsheering is better than rat chewing BUT rat chewing does not blow in the wind, no it does not!
7:44 pm on February 4th, 2015
Rio, Hope your friend had a better day today. Barb is reading Sara
h Canary again, as of this afternoon. She just finished the chapter where they were at the insane asylum. They sure had strange ideas about mental illness, and some terrible abuses. However, the conversation between BJ and the doctor was hilarious.
8:01 pm on February 4th, 2015
Reading every other word, I must have missed the rat chewing stuff.
8:05 pm on February 4th, 2015
Rio, American Idol is on in they’re in Hollywood!
8:17 pm on February 4th, 2015
Mpm, rat chewing on the hair. That’s all.
8:34 pm on February 4th, 2015
Canary!….Oh!OH!…snort!….I am so glad you are reading KFJ’s book again Barb. The Asylum part of the story is some of her best writing in so many ways. Have you read the part about the Doc’s watch yet?….HA!HA!..cough!cough!
8:36 pm on February 4th, 2015
Idol!….Yeeep!….Idol starts here in about 25 minutes or so…yippppeeee!!….I am always glad when my friend makes it to Wednesday – sometimes I wonder if she will become a vagabond and we will be penniless and starving…sniff!
8:51 pm on February 4th, 2015
Yes, I read about the watch, and the other part that was really funny was when BJ tried to tell the doc his theory of p**is envy, and the doc just totally didn’t get it. He kept trying to tell BJ that a horse was bigger, like BJ didn’t realize that. LOL
MPM, I think HOH was trying to say that her hair looks like it was chewed by a rat. That is not my description, but hers.
9:10 pm on February 4th, 2015
MollysMaw!….Hollywood Week even makes us nervous here in our lazy-down-boy chair…yeeeeep!… Those are special people who can get up there and sign like a Canary…chuffle!
9:11 pm on February 4th, 2015
Barb!….BJ fast became my favorite character…snort!….Is is so crazy…heh!heh!
9:20 pm on February 4th, 2015
Barb!….I am sharing this because you are brave like Staff and reading one of KJF’s books…snort!…She wrote this to me about a week ago…wuffle!…She is tip-top in talent just like The Charming Mr. Abrahams and they are both my favorite authors..snuffle!
From Karen to ME!: Making me feel good about my work is a tough, tiring job, but you appear to be up to the task. Thank you so much, Rio! I wrote the Sweetheart Season because I thought the world needed more feminist baseball novels. But, as my first novel, Sarah Canary will always have my heart in it.
Sniff!
9:34 pm on February 4th, 2015
MollysMaw!….Are you kidding me?….gurgle!….There is soooo much amazing talent this year I am going to find it very hard to pick a winner early….snort!…I have been able to pick the winners weeks before the end of the show for years now, but this year will definitely pose to be a difficult task…chuffle!…I am still watching Hollywood Week – not all the best of the best have been brought up to sing yet- more to come!….wheeze!
9:50 pm on February 4th, 2015
sniff!…I am all alone tonight….wuffle!…No I am not, I have my friend…heh!heh!
9:56 pm on February 4th, 2015
Howlers!….To answer your excellent advice from this morning…snort!…My friend gave the Hot Shot good advice and talked him down off the “I’m gonna Quit!!!” ledge of death…chuffle!…I do believe he came to his senses and realized he does have to work and get a pay-check so that his very talented wife can take some tests (many and grueling) to become an certified dental surgeon. Once that happens he can quit and buy a yacht and become a bum….grunt!…But he cannot bail on her now. Oh no. This seemed to get through to him and he settled down and started working instead of yelping complaints…grunt!
9:57 pm on February 4th, 2015
Rio, That is very interesting and special that she shared that with you. I am reading her first novel, and then is the Sweetheart Season her most recent one?
Heading off to bed shortly. Night all.
9:59 pm on February 4th, 2015
Riõ: I’m here…kind of…also trying to watch last night’s Justified.
10:01 pm on February 4th, 2015
Barb!…No her most recent and famous book is “We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves” and you do not want to go there. Not if you have a tender heart…sob!sniffle!….It is EXCELLANT, but it is pure torture to the soul…snuffle!…If you love (as I know you will) Sarah Canary, you will want to read “The Sweetheart Season”…heh!heh!
10:21 pm on February 4th, 2015
I am up for reading Sweetheart, but am going to take a pass on the other, even though I know how much you loved it.
And now, good night for real. Tomorrow I start my busier-than-hell week.
10:31 pm on February 4th, 2015
Barb!…Good Plan!…snort!
Maskers!…We are watching the 3rd episode of Justified and I have to admit I do feel a little sorry for Ava right now…grunt!…But a very unreliable part of me does not want to see Boyd go down…sniff!…I have a love/hate relationship with that bad guy…heh!heh!
11:04 pm on February 4th, 2015
RJ!…I have had discussions with that guy about barking in his sleep!…grunt!…Seems he still has issues. I know he is very wired and wants to GO!GO!GO! when he is out on the trail…chuffle!…But he has to learn to keep his sleep-barking under control so the rest of the team can get some shut-eye!…grunt!…I will write him another letter to this effect…sniff!
11:06 pm on February 4th, 2015
Rio, there is a 15 year old Daniel Seavy on Idol tonight from what I read in the newspaper. He is from right here where I live in Vancouver, Washington and I read that he plays multiple instruments! If you see him I would appreciate your opinion as you sound like the expert to me!
11:09 pm on February 4th, 2015
Rio – we are here too. Been sitting at my work table for the first time in months. Well, we have sat here, but our heart wasn’t in it. And then today, the “creative block” was opened a little bit, and jewelry started to happen.
The Storyteller said it was ok – that a sad heart can’t give in to creativity. so we are hoping that there is some healing going on.
It’s time.
11:11 pm on February 4th, 2015
Seavy!…Multiple instruments!…snort!…I do remember him auditioning…chuffle!…I will keep a pug-eye out for him. His name is an Iditorad name, so not hard to forget…grunt!…Seavys – bah!
11:13 pm on February 4th, 2015
Golinka!…I think my friends creative heart is still grieving…sniffle!…She cannot quill – she sometimes wants to, but she feels sad when she does…wuffle!
11:13 pm on February 4th, 2015
Hello to anyone still up. I put in 8 hours of training today and I am dog tired. Love y’all
ML
11:26 pm on February 4th, 2015
Hey ML – just so youse know, we are really proud of you, getting out there. We know it is hard for you, but you are doing it. Good for you.
Rio – tell your Friend that time will help. We spent a lot of time at the table just playing with beads, moving things around, sorting through old stuff that we had forgotten about. Tell her we understand. But her day will come – those little paper curls will call her name again.
11:29 pm on February 4th, 2015
Golinka!…I sure hope so because I know she misses it…sniff!…It’s like a real road-block she cannot get past totally…guffle!…I do not understand it.
11:32 pm on February 4th, 2015
Maybe…maybe it is the memory of the last creative thing she made was for her friend who passed away last March, and maybe this is a memory she is holding onto….sniff!…Maybe she does not want to make something new because then the memory of the last thing she made won’t be true anymore….sob!
11:39 pm on February 4th, 2015
Justified!..only 8 more episodes left!..savoring each and every one.
Yep, you have to root for Boyd, he’s one of the “good” bad guys.
11:42 pm on February 4th, 2015
Riõ, I feel so bad for your friend and Golinka too. It is not easy to get over such things…maybe not even possible. They are always in our hearts.
11:45 pm on February 4th, 2015
If it is any comfort…we share your heartache.
11:47 pm on February 4th, 2015
Goodnight.
10:01 am on February 5th, 2015
Dawson–thank you.
6:50 am on February 18th, 2015
Excellent challenges entirely, you simply won a brand new reader. What exactly could an individual advocate about your distribute which you made some days in past times? Almost any convinced?
