Live Twitter 1-2 Today (Eastern Time Zone)
Today Spence is doing a live tweetchat on Twitter, the hashtag, whatever that is, being #chatss. Not #chetss, which is kind of confusing. Here’s something (among others) that Spence isn’t very good at though you might not guess: typing! And tweeting is typing! So – big challenge for the poor guy.
Bernie says there’s been some discussion about my very first post, so here it is. Also, to Gus and BooBear – yes, we’re big Marty Robbins fans over here, love the Gunfighter Ballads. Sometimes, Bernie says, we’re pretty close to living that life! Except – he always says – the dry washes weren’t dry back then. Bernie worries a lot about the aquifer, in case that hasn’t come up already.

Inauguration Day. Don’t know what that means, exactly, but Bernie’s been glued to the TV all day. Bernie and I run the Little Detective Agency. I’ll get into that some other time. The only interesting thing I picked up from the TV is that those two little girls want one of my guys to join their family, my guys meaning a member of what Bernie calls the nation within the nation, namely dogs. Anyway, a great idea! I can’t join their family myself, of course – much too busy and besides, we’re a team, me and Bernie – but I’ve spent some time in the pound and know there are plenty of good candidates there. By the way, just in case you got the idea I can talk, I can’t (and wouldn’t even want to). But I can think, better believe it!

Thanks for posting that first post Chet! We read "Dog On It" when it first came out, but didn't join this blog family until last fall – so it's neat to see the first post. Mom and me are going to try the chat today. We just signed up last night for twitter as "Susanbethstudio" (Mom's blog). We hope us newbs can figure it out, can't wait!

melanie, on chet's twitter page there's a link for the #chatss and it brings you to the page – hopefully it's the right one! We looked for Newfsrule to follow you last night but it didn't come up, will try again. I reiterate your chant!

Gruff! … I can't get on Twitter, nor do I want to. But I have a very big favor to ask. If someone happens to ask an interesting question and Spence is somehow able to type out an answer, can you copy and paste the question/answer on this page so those of us who will be missing it will be able to see some of it? Any volunteers?

Okay!… Here's what we learned in 2 hours:
* The third book is finished!!
* The third book might be called, "To Bark, Perchance to Bite".
* Chet is based on a bit of Spence. Luckily, not the part that doesn't know his way around a keyboard.
* Spence likes to tell animal jokes.
* 17 books have been translated into other languages. Don't know if "Kat" is on that list.
* Chet will Definitely NOT have a girlfriend.
* A not so small animal friend named Peanut will make an entrance.

Hi Megan & All, Mom can type one post before making dinner, no one can believe how much she was on that computer today! Anyway, she has the chat history from her new twitter page, but it only shows answers, so a lot of it won't make sense. But she did remember that Spencer said the new book will be out sometime this year. The meaning of the book title didn't come up, but we all know that Chet sometimes gets that itchy feeling in his teeth! Also, We told Spencer we were worried about Chet and he said he might post the biospy results from book 3, to ease our minds (or shut us up!). Paws crossed & tailwags, Cosmo

Some one wants to know about the books being translated into other languages. Then Spencer says 17 so far. But not sure if that is really what post was about.
Less see that would be dog, squirrel, cat . . . since Chet and Princess never really understood each other completely, do you think that show dogs have an accent?

I caught up with the Tweets after it was all over by clicking first on the "Follow Twitter" next to the blog. Then on the next page that comes up, click on #chatss. This will get all tweets with apostrophes looking like '

Phew! Wow that was fun! Melanie, glad you figured it out, if only it had said you had to sign into “tweet chat” we would’ve been fine – but it turned out great. I saved the whole chat in my bookmarks. Not sure if Chet is going to post it here, but I’ll try to post a link, everyone else here would love to see it. Hope that’s OK chet!

Ahem!….Big thanks to the volunteer recruits on the team of spies that gathered crucial information today. The whole thing was a quickly but elegantly planned mission. I was here at Headquarters, directing and questioning the two well-trained spies who risked everything today.
Paws up for Cosmo and Melanie. (probably not their real names). They were able to infiltrate the Twitter Minefield and crack the complicated code during the final minutes of crucial and intense interrogations of the well-known author. Through teamwork and determination we were able to bring back much needed information to all our guys in the field. All of you should all be proud of the efforts displayed today.

Thank you commando Rio, agents Melanie and Cosmo. You were wonderful in the crunch. I am impressed. When I got home tonight I joined twitter but haven't a clue what to do now. I hope that I will be able to join in a chat later on in the year when I don't have to work all day.
I do know that I am following ChetTheDog but I didn't follow anyone else. What a crazy thing twitter is.

A-Kat!… It's obvious we need more Intel on Twitter. Anything you can learn would be quite an advantage to our team. But remember, we can't protect you – you will be a Lone Wolf out there, until we can get funding for "Underdogs Who Want to Tweet".
Be careful, report back to Cosmo. He's usually the sober one.
