Good interview. Have a great “appearance” Spence. Wish I could be there.
Good morning all.

Good morning Bee, Chet, Spencer, and Admin. Great interview. We didn’t know that you wrote pages EVERY DAY! That is impressive. But write more pages. We can’t wait for Book 5.

Good morning. I enjoyed the interview very much.

Good morning, Oley, Bee and all up above. Barb is off for her CL II place where she works Thursday and Fridy.
Sorry to see that the Cards lost last night. Macy was in rare form. Barb can’t get that expression out of her mind that Macy said. “Hambone sac fly, baby”. Makes no sense to us. Can someone explain what that means, or did she just make that up, on the fly, so to speak? Maybe Mr. Redbone knows – maybe it is some sort of southern thang.
SQ/PA good luck on Sunday!

Good Friday Morning to All!
I saw this on the news this morning and thought I’d share:
http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/article/20111020/WDH0101/110200497/Family-rescued-dog-grateful-firefighters
Have a great appearance PA/SQ!
Rebecca: Have Belle and Luna texted you about their ETA? And Belle looks quite fierce in her perp catching mode.
SiberH and Masquers: Your reminders are very helpful!
9:48 am on October 21st, 2011
Thanks for that article Rose. Bravo Firemen! We have a sticker to put on our door or window asking them to save us. We got it when we got the pipsqueak. After reading the article, we are going to ask Mom & Pop to put that up for us.
We just read thru some of what we missed last night. And Meashka is astonished that Siber-H questioned the ability of girls to protect you, Rose. After all Meashka protects all of us. She was trained by the best: Sasha, shortly after she arrived here at Howling Arabians. She protects all 2-leggeds and 4-leggeds all by herself, because Dima is just a no-count lazy couch potato (and spoiled rotten).

Live!….No more live appearances for Muammar Qaddafi!….heh!snort!heh!…..Burning in hell for eternity is too good for him…grunt!
10:08 am on October 21st, 2011
Rio, They certainly had some graphic coverage of Kadafi’s final moments on this earth! Not for the faint of heart. The rebels had no mercy for him. So sad, too bad, he didn’t get his day in court.
10:13 am on October 21st, 2011
B&M where did you see that coverage? No faint hearts here.
10:19 am on October 21st, 2011
Dog, I didn’t get any sleep last night. The Pack started barking and some animals outside that were meowing like mad!
Jeez Louise! Finally called them all in and two extras came in with The Pack. Wow, It was like Chapter 22!
Upstairs, downstairs, counter surfing, hunting up toys, tossing toys in the air, 5 dogs (some black some not) grabbing one toy and became a whirling dervish. YIKES. Two chairs broke up into little pieces and The Entire Pack plus Two picked up the pieces and broke through the front door.
Zoë and I were calling and whistling. Have you ever tried to find black dogs on a dark night? Luckily, the two extra were easy to spot and Franklin and Mac were following them around, with the Ladies of the Pack following them around.
We got everyone in the house and bedded down but by that time it was 5 am . . .
Whew, I might wake up later . . .
10:25 am on October 21st, 2011
Melanie, Where did the two extra come from?
Oley, They had coverage on the Today show – rebels pulled him out of a cement culvert where he was hiding, injured but alive. They set him on a car hood, took pictures, hit him with shoes (an insult) shot him in the stomach, then evidently executed him off camera with a shot to the head. Wow!
10:27 am on October 21st, 2011
o darn! If the 2 “cats” made it up to MA, they must have skipped our pack in PA. And Kat so much wanted to meet them.
10:27 am on October 21st, 2011
We answered you Oley, but forgot and put in the word s*h*o*e*s, and not it is moderated! Will it ever show up?
10:31 am on October 21st, 2011
Here is what we said, again:
It was on the Today Show. Rebels pulled him from a culvert, injured but alive. They hit him with you-know-whats (an insult). Then they set him on the hood of a car, shot him in the stomach, took pictures, then executed him off camera, with a fatal shot to the head. Hope you don’t have to read this twice!
10:41 am on October 21st, 2011
Court!… Even his smallest crimes would have called for the death penalty….grunt!… Whatever they did to him he deserved 1000 times more!….snort!….Day in Court my Ass!…sniff! ….Rot in hell Qaddafi! !!!!
10:44 am on October 21st, 2011
Rio, An attempt at humor – we did not really think he deserved a day in court either. More time and money wasted! A suitable end to his reign of terror!
10:48 am on October 21st, 2011
Feel!…Anyone want to ask me how I feel about Qaddafi???….hmmmmmm?….Let’s just pray someone worse does not take his place….sniff!
Barb!… I get all hot under my collar when it has to do with this monster…grunt!…Nothing personal towards you…wuffle!
10:50 am on October 21st, 2011
B&M, we just watched the Today Show clip online. We couldn’t see the s*h*o*e*s tho.
We would have liked to see him in court. We think it would have helped the country of Libya move past it if they could throw all of his attrocities up in his face in court.
10:54 am on October 21st, 2011
Interview!….On a much, much, much lighter note…heh!… Isn’t that a great interview with the author up above? One of the best so far I think….snort! …Stover I wish both of us could be at the Walking-Talking-Breathing appearance….sniff!…. I would probably have to nip him on the arm to make sure he’s real ….chuffle!
10:55 am on October 21st, 2011
In mah humble opinion – at first, they said his death was “unconfirmed”. Why, all they had to do was check with the registration desk in h e l l and ask if he had checked in yet.
Course there is alway the distinct possibility that even that place won’t have accomodation for such as that monster.
Oh, and by the way Brother Rio, on another subject – nyah nyah-nyah nyah NYAH nyah!
(chuckle)
11:00 am on October 21st, 2011
Redbone!….snort!… Our guys will see your guys Saturday Night and may the best team win!…wheeze!… Meaning The Cardinals and the Rally Squirrel will not be defeated (again!)….heh!
11:09 am on October 21st, 2011
Brother Rio – ain’t you heard, son? Texas Rangers always get their man. And their squirrel.
I’m a layin’ down my best bottle on shine on this. What are you willin’ to wager?
11:13 am on October 21st, 2011
Wedding!….So get this….grump!….My friend is going to help someone she knows cater a wedding tomorrow afternoon…grunt!….She just found out that this gals husband has the FLU and the gal herself is not feeling all that shiny today….wheeze!….My friend, who is a germaphobe has to go over to their house and help prepare food for this wedding…snort!….She is not liking this one bit now. At first she was all excited to help out, but now she is dreading it because of the FLU….sniff! …I think she should stay home and work on her project and let me watch TV….sneeze! …Besides, isn’t it unethical to cater a wedding if you are sick?…wheeze!
11:18 am on October 21st, 2011
No one has told us what Hambone sac fly, baby means. Does it mean sacrifice fly ball? OK, but what is the Hambone reference? Please, it is driving Barb bonkers! Barb thinks ham bones go in bean soup!!
11:22 am on October 21st, 2011
Good Morning Everyone.
Can’t believe the Rangers won…Cards held them back until the last inning though…it’s going to be a tough one…down to the wire. GO Cardinals!!
Thanks for the links to PA/SQ interview, and the dog rescue articles. We love learning more about our newly favorite author, and wish we could go to RI meet him–Texas is really nice this time of the year, maybe he can visit here sometime? Don’t famous authors make the rounds sometimes?
The pictures of the resucitation efforts on Koda were amazing. We love firemen. Maybe the firechief will get some animal oxygen masks now?
Also, thanks for sharing all the pretty pictures from yesterday, Flowers, Skinny big cats, and beautiful Huskies…maybe Mom can figure out how to add some of our shots as well.
Howlers, we were watching ALL the morning news casts, my mom flips through stations like crazy and stopped at that report, it was gruesome and graphic and astonishing. Maybe she can find a link on line someplace and send it out later.
Rio, we really like you…you’re the man, man, and so correct in your assessment of the big world event. Hopefully the world will start to be a better place, and we won’t hear about so much death and destruction anymore…you know that “wars and rumors of war” thing? It’s scary. We don’t like that.
Ya’ll have a beautiful day, hope Melanie, et al, get some rest.
11:28 am on October 21st, 2011
Wager!…. Redbone, I do not have anything of value to wager on the game….snort!….My toys are off limits and there is no way I am betting my warm soft bed….grunt! ….Although, I might be able to confiscate a Zinger or two….heh!
11:30 am on October 21st, 2011
Barb!….Maybe she meant it was a “Tasty Sacrifice Fly”…heh!
11:33 am on October 21st, 2011
Melanie — What a night. it is so strange that both you and Rio had unusual noctural visitors. What’s up with that?
Great interview above. It is also interesting to learn more about our favorite author’s background and then see how that may influence his writing. i’m sure his college experiences as a spear fisherman in the Bahamas (first I think we ever heard of that) played a role in at least a couple of his books like Pressure Drop and Lights Out.
B&M — You are definitely right that sac fly is a sacrifice fly. i think Hambone is the local nickname for one of the two Rangers players who hit sacrifice flies in the 9th inning, probably Josh Hamilton.

As Belle Starr and Luna blurr their way across the the country…..Because of the meowing and disguises, Rio misses the “dropped zinger” clue and mistakes them for kats, chasing them off into the night > Kat waits in vain for the dynamic duo to arrive > Pandemonium reigns as the Newf Pack led by Franklin and Mac re-enact chapter 22 from The Dog Who Knew Too Much > ETA in NY at Rose’s door sometime today.
11:48 am on October 21st, 2011
An interesting time this morning! After the Chapter 22 night, Zoë took 4 of the Pack out in the Newfmobile and we discovered . . . That in the hurry to get out of the car one of the Pack locked all the doors with the key inside. The only key we have . . . in a locked car . . . in the middle of a deserted camp . . . during hunting season.
Zoë always takes the cell phone and tried to call. But Dan was on the phone and kept thinking it was McKey trying to call through. She finally got a hold of us. I got in the Subaru with a coat hanger and rode up to meet her. Couldn’t open the door. Got the four Newfs (in their orange vests) into the Subaru and we went to our towing guy and he came out and opened the Newfmobile. Thanks Towing Guy!
Now on the list for the day is . . . call people we bought the car from and see if they can make us two new keys or tell us how to do it.
I believe the towing guy said it correctly. “S*H*I*T happens.”
11:57 am on October 21st, 2011
Well, I think it’s safe to say that there is little wrong with Luna and Belle Starr’s blurring ability. I received a text from Belle Starr that said: can we use ur debit card to buy an umbrella? We didn’t know bears drooled so much.
Followed by a text from Luna: things got a little out of hand when we met the Newf Pack. They are wonderful even though Belle Starr thinks they r bears. Melanie, Dan and Zoe were very understanding—said something about chapter 22.
Rose: When would you like the girls to arrive?

We’ve come out of retirement again and been kept busy all week. I haven’t even been able to read the blog. This morning Judith stopped in to tell us the news about Mollypop. We are so sorry to hear of her passing, but we know that as much as we hurt she doesn’t and never will. I’m sure that she’s met Blou and hundreds of other great
dogs at the bridge and be waiting for us when we get there.
I’m also to have missed the chance to wish B. a Happy Birthday.
We have to ask, too, about the Christmas sale. There are things that I’d like to donate, but I don’t know how or when to do it. Help! Please.
12:23 pm on October 21st, 2011
That is a very good interview with PA/SQ!
Melanie, I’m glad Zoe and the Newfs were rescued.
Rio, My mom wouldn’t want to go in a flu house either and we are worried about your friend doing it.
TYB, Rio will come along and answer your question about the Christmas sale.
12:29 pm on October 21st, 2011
Mr. Tibbs!… We definitely want and need any donations you can offer up!…snort!…Here are the initial rules I posted a while back …sniff! …If you have any questions please ask Wookie…heh!

2. Send your photogragh(s) to Melanie. She will improve and size each one.
3. Melanie will send back the Finished Photograph(s) to you.

12:32 pm on October 21st, 2011
Just let me get another cup of cafe and I’ll be right with you….
Bo&Mani: Thank you for joining our RedBirds cheering section. I am thinking the Ranger fans are beginning to out-number us, so we can use all the help we can get. That game last night had everyone on the edge of their seats. What a great Series so far! Side note: Mom says if I do anymore cursing I won’t be allowed to watch the game on Saturday. awwwah
12:37 pm on October 21st, 2011
Girl Sibers of the Howlers…Don’t go talking trash about Dima.
It could just be that he is smarter than the 3 of you. I may like girls, but when push comes to shove, us guys stick together.
Support for either the Rangers or the Cardinals on this blog is
similar to the North/South line drawn in the Civil War.
12:52 pm on October 21st, 2011
No, Rio, that’s not moi. My pal from next door joined me for a Cafe au lait this morning and fell asleep next to the warm mug.
My item photo has been re-sized by Melanie. As soon as I add the price and description it will be off to the MMCS. (Most likely sometime today)
Hi Tyb! It is good you are there for Mollypop’s mom. Your words are beautiful and well said. Looking forward to your donation for the Musher Mercantile Christmas Store.
Since I have not had a chance to see our favorite author’s interview, will do that now…..
1:09 pm on October 21st, 2011
Siber, (whispering) Dima is a mama’s boy.

Need help. I heard an interview with an author today. I can’t remember his name or the name of the book. 🙂 I do remember that he had collected photographs of children and decided to write a fiction story for the photographs.
Maybe something with “wayward” children in the title?
Anyhoo, a teenager who grew up with these stories his grandfather told always thought of them as fairytales. He then discovers that in a certain way they are real.
Anyone have any idea what the title might be or the author? This is driving me nuts (at least more nuts) because I have checked most everything I could think of on line and NOTHING!
1:56 pm on October 21st, 2011
FOUND IT! “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs.
2:06 pm on October 21st, 2011
Ah, Melanie. Your Pack has such interesting adventures and now they’ve officially made the Newfmobile theirs.
My friend read that book and liked it. The pictures are of very strange-looking people.
Nice interview above. His characters are alive in a parallel universe.
2:11 pm on October 21st, 2011
Book!… Speaking of books, I am at a very sad part of Doris Kearns Goodwins book…sob!sob!sob!…SiberH knows where I am….sob!sob!sob!….I’m so close to being finished. But it will have to wait until later tonight, or tomorrow morning….sob!sob!sob! …sniff!
2:15 pm on October 21st, 2011
Rio, which book is that? We love Doris Kearns Goodwin as historian.
2:19 pm on October 21st, 2011
Memoir!….It is called Wait Till Next Year…snort!…It is a memoir of her childhood. She was and still is a big baseball fan….sniff!
2:23 pm on October 21st, 2011
Yep, Rio…We sobbed and we hardly ever sob over anything but dogs.
Fellow Sibers, It is an excellent book.
2:43 pm on October 21st, 2011
O.K. putting it on our Kindle. Thanks! She is great.
2:49 pm on October 21st, 2011
Melanie reminded us of a song we have been trying to track down for many moons. Then this morning we asked and it miraculously showed up on the first try! The only problem being – it’s not the version we were looking for. The first time we heard the song it was sung by 2(?) guys and was very upbeat. Does anyone know which version we are talking about? In the meantime, here is Josh Woodward singing Goodbye to Spring:

I saw our dear Mollypop, with her fierce tail, at the top a while ago.
Siber: Your recommended baseball book, Wait Till Next Year, is going on my must read list.
So much to do today. Working on a description for our Snowhook Mercantile Store item so we can get it off to Rebecca today. A rainy Friday afternoon here on the coast, but the warmth from the fireplace is chasing away the gloom. Curling up there on the soft rug, my eyes are getting drowsy……….
3:41 pm on October 21st, 2011
BearSpiritDog: I’ve never heard that song before.
Mac and Franklin are at the top playing in the snow! Now snow yet for us, but it is supposed to be getting colder.
Starting “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. It starts with a bang not a whimper.
3:57 pm on October 21st, 2011
Bear, I have never heard that song either , but it says below the video that his more rockin studio version can be found on iTunes. That still might not be the one you are looking for.
3:57 pm on October 21st, 2011
MY STORMY KROMER HAT CAME! It’s wonderful. Pictures tomorrow when there’s sun!
4:21 pm on October 21st, 2011
Guys: Not sure where we first heard that song either, but immediately fell in love with the upbeat version…then somehow lost the link to it. We will keep looking. I wonder if it was on Pandora…..
Now Siber-H is at the top!
Melanie, looking forward to seeing you in your new Stormy Kromer Hat!
4:28 pm on October 21st, 2011
Revenge may be sweet but it does not equate to justice. I wish Qaddafi had been put on trial so that his crimes could have been fully described for the world. Not only does the accused get his day in court, but his victims and the survivors of victims could also have their day in court.
4:29 pm on October 21st, 2011
TYB: Thank you for the birthday wish.
4:33 pm on October 21st, 2011
We just saw a friend of Chet’s that actually would make a good looking Chet – his name is Cooper. Did anyone else see him?
5:45 pm on October 21st, 2011
Barb&Magpie: We didn’t see the picture at the top, but think we know who you mean…Cooper is a black dog with stand-up ears, right? I don’t know if I picture Chet as all black though. Remember, he does have the one white ear and a white paw.
B: Yes, Gaddafi should have had his day in court, but only for the sake of the people he victimized. However, as is often the case with such individuals, he “lived by the sword and died by the sword”.
5:47 pm on October 21st, 2011
Yes I agree Magpie. Cooper is high on my list of Chet look-a-likes. He only needs one white ear. Heh.
6:03 pm on October 21st, 2011
Yea, we have some aggrement! Yes, Cooper is the black shepherd on FOC. Chet and Bernie are both so hard to find suitable stand-ins for a movie. When we watched Jason Isaacs the other night on Case Histories, he looked exactly like Atkinson described him (in my mind anyway). Chet and Bernie are much harder. I still think Brian Dennahey would have been good for Bernie’s part if he was younger. BBL

Melanie: Can’t wait to see you in your Stormy Kromer hat!
6:21 pm on October 21st, 2011
You know furry & non-furry folk, around 8 years ago I cracked a rib. Painful and nothing they could do about it. This time I twisted it. Painful and nothing they can do about it. Jeez Louise!
Dan and Zoe love the hat. All ready trying to figure out if people would like one for a gift.
Starting the 8th season of Midsomer Murder tonight.
Oh, and Monday YSAS will be a cop on the 2-2. I don’t know anything about that show at all.
6:37 pm on October 21st, 2011
Hmmm. I used to like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Never really paid attention to the lyrics, but after watching and hearing it sung by William Shatner? That is just plain weird.

Evening All:
OH: I agree. Female dogs can be fierce protectors just like male dogs. Besides, did you see Belle’s perp catching face? I am very glad your mom and pop got that sign for the pipsqueak, and especially glad you are asking for one for yourselves.
Rebecca: I am ready to welcome the girls tomorrow morning. Even though the Prof is allergic, he is crushing on Luna and Belle. The Prof leaves Monday, but I know he will welcome the girls with hugs, and tummies, as will I.
Masquers: The Prof thought it was very nice of you to proide the 10-day weatherkast. He thanks you.
Melanie: Can’t wait to see you in your new hat. BTW- When does McKey’s SVU episode air?

Hi Macy!
Word from The Royals’ Mum. She’s been very busy with clay. No CCL for her today. She’s not mixing clay and her laptop anymore.
There is a traveling piece of clay under the keyboard and somedays she can’t type a 9 and somedays it’s another letter.
She says “Hi!”

Rose: My last communication with Luna and Belle Starr said your time table is perfect. They promise not to make the Professor sneeze and wheeze. They said they made another stop today to visit with Tupper and Gilly. They said there was a very happy mama with dirty hands. She told them to stay away from any boxes and shipping tape. They dropped by the Howlers and Kat asked if they could sleep over; she promised no one would mind.
Howlers: I apologize for any sleepless, Chapter 22 night you may experience.

Funny pic Macy! It goes perfectly with the Firefighter Dog Rescue story of this morning.
Hey! We thought of that GPS idea a long time ago. Only problem being there was no GPS tracking available at the time. We could have made millions – millions I tell you – millions.
Time to watch more Slings and Arrows so we can report back to Melanie. BTW that Shatner Bohemian Rhapsody video was a trip. Put a smile on our face to end the day – Bear

I finally had a chance to read the interview. I like the bluntness that writing is hard work, and the notion that a story has to impose itself.
Rio: They were there, I promise. You don’t just make up a story about losing a Zinger at a certain pug’s house. By the way, have you figured out how to get the Zinger that’s left on the other side of your fence?
