Legal Niceties
Our lawyer’s Zimmy Berg, brother of Simon Berg who runs the world’s greatest business, namely Rover and Co., specialty food suppliers to the nation within. Right now Zimmy’s talking to Bernie about estate planning. Not sure why. Our place on Mesquite Road is nice and I wouldn’t think of living anywhere else, but you couldn’t call it an estate, like say Albie Rose’s set-up in Vegas.
“Have you considered writing Chet into your will?” Zimmy says.
“What will?” says Bernie.
“You’re joking, right?” says Zimmy. “No? Good God. But after we get that rectified, we can set up an enforceable pet trust fund. Not all states have them, but we do.”
Bernie is quiet.
“I sense resistance,” says Zimmy.
“Not to the trust fund part,” says Bernie.
“You’re having some kind of juvenile reaction to the idea of wills in general?” says Zimmy.
What are they talking about? Estates, still? I’m not sure. It has nothing to do with me. I’m no pet, but a full partner in the Little Detective Agency.
Announcement from Admin: The Astrid case will resume after the completion of The Dog Who Knew Too Much. Otherwise: schizophrenia, in the common but solecistic sense of the term.

Dear Chet, Spence, and Bernie,
I have no problem with you finishing The Dog Who Knew Too Much. That’s fine with me. In fact, that’s great with me. In truth, you just go ahead and finish!
Just angle your computer screen a little more towards the quilt!

This morning Mom read an email that came last night after she had gone to bed. It’s about Tyb.
“I was walking my friend this afternoon when he was attacked by a German Shepherd that had broken his chain and came at us in attack mode. Poor Tyb didn’t even try to fight back. He has a few puncture wounds on his legs, but I don’t think there was any major damage done. He was traumatized and just doesn’t seem to care about anything right now. He walked fine after the incident, but after resting for an hour or so, he is hesitant to even get up. I’ll be taking in to see the vet in the morning if the weather doesn’t prevent us from making the trip. I’ll keep you posted.”
Mom is waiting to hear more.

Mollypop — That is very distressing news; please keep us posted about Tyb and anything that you hear. Wookie

Healing thoughts to Tyb and his people.
9:48 am on January 5th, 2011
Tyb:
My heart goes out to you – know that we love you and will care for you during your recovery.
9:54 am on January 5th, 2011
Tyb, please get better. We love you.
9:58 am on January 5th, 2011
Oh goodness. TYB, please be well.
10:02 am on January 5th, 2011
Poor TYB, we will be thinking about you here. Get better soon.
10:05 am on January 5th, 2011
Why are they discussing estate planning?
I hope Tyb is okay. I’ll be thinking about him.
My doctor called this morning and the x-ray shows that I have a partial collapsed left lung. I have to go have a cat-scan (or however it’s spelled) this afternoon I think. My friend is going to drive me. I’ll get back here when I can.
10:11 am on January 5th, 2011
This day is not off to a good start – Tyb, B, and Bernie’s estate planning.
10:17 am on January 5th, 2011
B. Stover: Good luck. How do they pump it back up?
10:19 am on January 5th, 2011
Bee, That may be why you are short of breath. How do the fix it?
10:25 am on January 5th, 2011
LOL…That’s a good question. I wonder if they have a special pump.
10:34 am on January 5th, 2011
B – It’s good that you got medical attention. We’ll be waiting for you to come back after the CAT scan.
10:56 am on January 5th, 2011
Mollypop is right. The day is not off to a good start. Good Luck Bee. Poor TYB. What an awful thing to happen. Hope he recovers soon.
10:59 am on January 5th, 2011
My heart just sunk when I read about Tyb. Come on big guy, get some spirit back. There are more good guys in the world than bad, and we are so sorry that you had to meet one of the bad ones.
Chet, you might want to nudge Bernie into the direction of getting that will made. Some states do not recognize domestic partners, which you kind of are, I guess…you guys do live together..
11:03 am on January 5th, 2011
If Chet goes into the will, I hope that Susie and Charlie get to be in charge of his portion. I’m not sure about the Ex-wife and her relationship with Chet.
MollyPop: Keep us informed when you hear of anything. Thanks
11:48 am on January 5th, 2011
I still haven’t heard any news about Tyb. I have to go out now and will be back in about an hour.
11:49 am on January 5th, 2011
Yes, Mollypop, Please keep us informed about Tyb.. Mom and I are very concerned. We love you Tyb. Please get well soon. Mom and I think his spirit will return once he recovers physically and emotionally. We hope they make it to the vet through the weather. My mom, being my mom, is worried about injuries that only a vet could find.
11:54 am on January 5th, 2011
Stover!…. I think that procedure is spelled K-A-T S-K-A-N… snort!…Be very careful when you are inside of it…yeep!….I hope they can fix your lung, no wonder you are wheezing around like me…grunt!
Mr.Tibbs!… We need to set up some special training with Agent Wookie!…snuff!…He will show you how to take care of Bullies….growl! …. Get better big guy!…sniffle!
11:55 am on January 5th, 2011
Woo-Hoo – September 11th – just announced by the publishers – that the date for the release of The Dog Who Knew!!!
TYB – so sorry for your bad encounter – there are bullies even within the Nation. Paws crossed that you are well soon and not too traumatized either physically or mentally.
12:01 pm on January 5th, 2011
If anything happened to Bernie, Chet can come live with us. I just asked mom and dad if that would be okay with them, and they said that sounds like a good plan. We wouldn’t want any money from Bernie’s estate…that should go to Charlie. Charlie can come visit Chet as often and as much as he likes.
Spence, just keep writing the Dog Who and don’t worry about the Astrid case.
12:47 pm on January 5th, 2011
Tyb — My mom (Debbie LM) is right, there are bullies in the nation within a nation, and you must not let them traumatize you. (There is at least one bully dog in our neighborhood, but I showed him who’s boss, a story for another day.) You have such an important mission to fulfill, just keep you spirits up and everything will be okay.
I found the message from Admin quite intriguing if not entirely enlightening; at least we know what is happening (sort of). And we have a new word for the day — solecistic. Here is what the folks at Merriam Webster have to say about solecism (although I bet Stover already knew what it meant anyway) —
so·le·cism noun \ˈsä-lə-ˌsi-zəm, ˈsō-\
1
: an ungrammatical combination of words in a sentence; also : a minor blunder in speech
2
: something deviating from the proper, normal, or accepted order
3
: a breach of etiquette or decorum
Wookie the linguist
12:54 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wookie!… Do you think Admin was afraid Spencer would start writing about Astrid in book 4?…snort!
1:01 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wookie, are you making reference to wet whips, by chance?
Was that Freudian, Bee?
On the subject of bully dogs, Barb had a really sweet male Airedale, Xander, who passed just after I was born, so I didn’t get a chance to know him. Before Barb moved to the country, she lived in a little town and she used to walk Xander every day. Two times he was attacked while on his leash, first by a German Shepherd, which was scary but mild. The 2nd attack was by a very large aggressive St. Bernard who was out to kill him. If the teenage boys who lived with the dog had not run out, who knows what would have happened. Bottom line, Xander had some minor injuries, but after that he never liked strange dogs, as long as he lived.
1:41 pm on January 5th, 2011
Attack!…The only things that try to go after me when we walk are those damned Geese!…grunt!…Most of them have left finally….grump!…I hate those birds and their green slimy poo!…sniff!

For Siber-H and those who love dogs who mush . . . (snicker)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWn0F_CoVK0
This is the video of Joseph Robertia’s dog team in the Gin Gine 200 2010.
Ummm. Someone let the dogs go early without a musher and the photographer was in the way.
Anyhoo, I’ll put up the Robertia’s Kennel link as soon as I can find it again.
2:06 pm on January 5th, 2011
Joseph Robertia’s wife Cole won the race and won the Vets’ Humanitarian Award. That’s for the musher who treated his/her team the best.
Joseph had the young dogs and as you can see the video, they were raring to go!
He had a very exciting race which can be read here.

Hi Everybody,
I’m back and thank you for your concern. That was quite an incident yesterday. My friend and I were walking our regular route when Susie, a neighborhood dog, came at us in attack mode. She was on me from every direction. My friend couldn’t let go of my leash fearing that I’d run and Susie would run after me. Then there would have been no control. She had me for a good couple of minutes. All the neighbors came out and it took 5 people to pull her off me. I managed to walk home, but couldn’t move very easily after I rested for a couple of hours. This morning we left before 5 to fight the weather to get to the clinic in Buffalo. It’s a good thing we did because it was a rough drive. It took us about an hour and a half longer that it does normally. My vet did a good exam and found puncture wounds on three of my legs.
She flushed them and put me on pain pills and antibiotics. I’m coming around and feel better. I’m sure that in a couple of days, I’ll be as good as new. Susie’s dad has agreed to pay the vet bill, but he wants to do it on the installment plan. A hundred dollars a month. Susie is a good dog, but she doesn’t have a very good life. Her folks don’t take care of her. She spends her days on the end of a 6 foot chain and her nights in a plywood box that has no door or windows. When it gets dark, someone comes out, lifts one side of the house, puts her inside and locks the side back down. We’re hoping now that she’ll be taken away from her owner and given to someone who cares.
Again, thanks for your concern. I love you all.
3:19 pm on January 5th, 2011
Dear Tyb,
Thank you for posting. We were all concerned. I hope that someone does remove that dog from that owner. So sad for her to have to live that way.
Melanie I loved watching the video of the sled dogs who wanted to run run run. Mr Staff came by to see what all the noise was about. There is sure a lot of barking and howling going on.
I thought it was quite funny when the photographer got run over. What did he say when it was over? “I know how to do that?” ROTFLMAO.
I wonder if that is a new one for B?
Speaking of B… Goodness! A partially collapsed lung? Does it hurt? I remember you not liking the scans and someone said they close their eyes before going in and think of a lovely blue sky above them. That is what I do to. It works for me, but I am not too afraid of enclosed spaces.
Mr. Husky, Do you want to run run run when you see those video’s?
Oh, and one more comment. Baseball is in the news today and Bert Blyleven is now in the Baseball Hall of Fame. I met him in 2009 and had my picture taken (with Bert) by Mr.Staff. This is what happened…

Mr.Tibbs!… It’s amazing you survived that attack. What a horrible experience …growl!…Thank goodness there were neighbors willing to help you out…wheeze! …It’s a dangerous world outside our doors so “Let’s be careful out there.”…gruff!
3:45 pm on January 5th, 2011
Dog fights are NOT good. I’m so glad you are okay TYB. How scary not only for you but for your friend. Keep those punctures clean and take all your pills!
I’m sorry for Susie. What a difficult life she has. I hope you’re right that she might be taken away and find a good forever home.
3:48 pm on January 5th, 2011
Oh, man. Now we feel really bad for the dog Susie as well as TYB. What a tragic life that poor dog lives. No wonder she is non-social. TYB, hope u feel better soon and keep us posted on your and Susie’s situation.
We understand why SQ needs to focus. It would be hard to keep 2 mysteries going at once. Hopefully, Chet will be able to keep doing daily misc posting.
4:01 pm on January 5th, 2011
Get well soon, Mr. Tyb. We have a very aggressive female in our pack. Then after attacking someone she seems very remorseful. Hopefully Susie felt bad about attacking you. I feel sorry for her too. 6 feet hardly gives her enough room to move.
4:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
I put this post up with a photo and a link at 3:19 but it is being moderated. Here are the words. I hope the problem was with the link or the photo. Otherwise this will be a double post. S.

Staff: hopefully more of your comment will show up.
I haven’t heard the video!!
The Pack heard the dogs and then started to join in. Can you have 3-D sound instead of stereo? It’s funny just to watch too.
4:49 pm on January 5th, 2011
Tyb, I’m so happy to hear that you’re doing well. So now about Susie, the poor thing. Why does her owner have a dog? Does he have a stash of drugs in that box? They do that here in Buffalo – the drugs and the dog are kept in the attic. It’s horrible. What will it take for Susie to be rescued?
4:50 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wishing Bee a speedy recovery.
Wishing Susie finds a wonderful home. Maybe her people need to spend a night in a box. Rio? Send the goats to go after them!
4:51 pm on January 5th, 2011
Tease!…Is Staff trying to tease us with her dangling sentence?…grump!…Somedays I think her and Alice are the same Kat!…snort!
5:07 pm on January 5th, 2011
Tyb, i’m so sorry to read about all of this, your attack and injuries sound awful. Get well very soon. I’m glad your person wasn’t hurt in the attack. But poor Susie! No wonder she’s a bit messed up in the head. I really hope someone rescues her from that awful life – german shepherds are such nice dogs.
Sam – someone’s keeping a dog in an attic????
5:07 pm on January 5th, 2011
BluKat!… I have no authority over marauding goats!….snort!…They would no sooner listen to me as they would Rockie and his Hill Billy friends…grunt!

Rio, Poor Baby. I didn’t mean to tease you it is just that the post with the link and the photo is being moderated so I just put up the words. Sometime the 3:19 post will become unmoderated and you can see the remainder of the post.
I am not holding my breath.
tease tease tease….heh
Alice and I share many things. For instance we both like *bling*. Even the word *bling* sounds lovely.

I know what ROTFLMAO means. It seems to me that by “solecistic” Admin means inconsistent. I’m not sure what the normal sense of schizophrenia is.
We also have to keep in mind that the will in today’s post isn’t Bernie’s idea.
During the CAT scan, my head did not go inside. It wasn’t actually a tube either but a round machine with a hole in it. There was the other part of the room on the other side of it. I have to see a lung specialist next Wednesday.

Why am I being moderated?
5:30 pm on January 5th, 2011
Liz, it’s many dogs in many attics. That’s how the dealers protect the drugs. These are the same guys involved in dog fighting. I live in the suburbs and this is an inner city thing not really that far away.
5:32 pm on January 5th, 2011
Rio, Just so you don’t think I left you hanging last night. I did some research for you, and there are a few insect totems – bees, butterflies dragonflies, however, no bed bugs. Believe it or no NO ONE has ever wanted a bed bug as a totem.. End of discussion!
5:37 pm on January 5th, 2011
B – We have been worried about you. Is there something you can say differently?
Lately, we have had these odd moderations, but then the moderated post is gone. It goes into moderation and is never seen again.
I would guess we have a new moderator, a trainee, and that Spence has not paid his bill to Mike Baker.
5:38 pm on January 5th, 2011
They just arrested 2 couples for dog fighting. We saw it on last night’s news. They were not betting money, they just wanted to see which dog could kill the other. Someone alerted the police and they saved the 11 month old Pit, who was being chewed up by the older dog. They are hoping they can rehab the young one, but the older one had been previously used for fighting, and will probably be destroyed. These people are truly sick!!! How can people do this?
5:49 pm on January 5th, 2011
MagPie! It’s worse than ever. The dog fighting bad guys steal family pets from their yards and use them for bait to teach the fighting dogs before they are ready to go into the ring.
5:57 pm on January 5th, 2011
Thanks Mollypop. I’ll try again in the next posts. Perhaps if I break up the sentences….

B – Here’s a template:
Diagnosis – 1-good 2-soso 3-bad
Prognosis – 1-good 2-soso 3-bad
Treatment – 1-drugs 2-surgery 3-shoot me
So now you just have to respond by number.
6:02 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wha!?…Have we been reduced to one sentence posts?…grump!
6:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
I don’t know what the common sense of schizophrenia is.
6:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
Sam, all of this is awful!! it’s horrible to read. And horrible to know there are dogs suffering like that. AND that there are humans who do any of these things, it diminishes the whole lot of us.
Dog fights, attics, chains…bait? Jeez louise.
6:05 pm on January 5th, 2011
I have to have a biopsy. But first the doctor is giving me more tests. I’ll know better after that.
6:10 pm on January 5th, 2011
A few years ago my Mom had jury duty. A kid was up for robbery with a gun. The police had found the gun in the attic of the kid’s house. His mother was a drug dealer. When the jury heard about the dog in the attic, they must have all turned ashen. Mom said they gasped. The defense attorney said that they had to ignore that because it had nothing to do with the case.
The kid was found guilty.
6:18 pm on January 5th, 2011
Melanie: The mushing video was great fun. How noisy they are before take off. Not so much noise when the race is over. Those huskies sure like to run.
6:22 pm on January 5th, 2011
Stover — You really should not have gone after Mike Baker with Melanie’s cane like you did. I think he is exacting his revenge now by moderation. Wookie
6:26 pm on January 5th, 2011
I think the “common sense of schizophrenia” would be a split personality.
Not correct, but used in that sense.
6:27 pm on January 5th, 2011
Dawson: From that video I can imagine what Siber-H’s friend has to go through to get him in the house when he is “frolicking” in the snow.
6:31 pm on January 5th, 2011
B.Stover: A partially collapsed lung does not sound good at all. I can tell you what they did to the man in this house when he was in a greyhound bus accident and had 5 broken ribs and the doctor thought his lungs might collapse. But his lungs never did collapse so…moot point.
People commonly refer to schizophrenia meaning “of two minds” which is not the proper usage. This could be what Spence is meaning. One half of his brain being used to write Astrid the other half to write Dog Who thereby causing schizophrenia, the common usage, which is wrong.
6:33 pm on January 5th, 2011
Good, glad he was found guilty, maybe the dog in the attic had some influence.
Bee, what are they going to biopsy, if I might ask?
6:33 pm on January 5th, 2011
B, I hope the doc gave a good reason to do a snip. He did say more tests first, so maybe you won’t need anything invasive.
6:42 pm on January 5th, 2011
Dawson and C.Harris – Tonight is the finals of the World Junior Hockey Championship. Last year, the US beat Canada in the finals. So Canada get revved up and this year beat the US in the semis. Earlier today the US beat Switzerland for the bronze and Canada and Russia go at it later tonight for the gold and silver.
Buffalo is the host this year and the news reported 330,000 people have come. Hockey arenas don’t hold as many people as a football stadium does. That’s quite a crowd!
7:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
Mystery! Mom got home from work and says the house smells like pine. Me? I don’t smell a thing.
Herds! Mom saw two different herds of deer browsing in the barren corn fields on her way home from work today. Mom was wondering what they might be eating…left over cobs, kernels of corn?
7:09 pm on January 5th, 2011
Crap, as Rio would say…We were gone longer today than we wanted to be.
Tyb. We are so very glad that you made it to the vet and are going to be just fine. Thanks for the good news!! We are so sorry that this happened to you and that Susie has such an awful life. We hope that she gets another home…a good home.
Maybe someone should “steal” Susie from that guy or offer to buy her. My mom and her friend, the vet tech, have been known to do such things. The major problem with this is that these jerks simply end up getting another dog.
7:22 pm on January 5th, 2011
Stover, We are wishing you a speedy recovery and that the docs will get you fixed up and you won’t be short of breath anymore. The shortness of breath must be from the partially collasped lung.
I’m eating my dinner and then we will watch Melanie’s video and go to her link.
7:22 pm on January 5th, 2011
B&M: I’m having a biopsy of my lung. They’ll put a tube down my throat to do it so, Sam, no snip. They’ll put me under anaesthetic and I’ll be an outpatient. I think they will have to perform it even if I’m having another test–which was called a breathing test. I’m not sure what that’s about.
7:26 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wookie: I’m thinking several things about being moderated but I won’t express them. I don’t understand the logic behind these moderations.
7:32 pm on January 5th, 2011
B – Mom has breathing tests that are called Pulmonary Function Tests. That’s probably what you will have. You just keep breathing into things. It will measure lung capacity.
7:34 pm on January 5th, 2011
Siber-H – Wait until you see Melanie’s video. You’ll be ready to mush all night long in your dreams.
7:45 pm on January 5th, 2011
I wonder if Siber H. will react to the audio on the video of the mushers.
7:46 pm on January 5th, 2011
Canada scores first!
8:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
Stover!… I’m not happy about this at all…sniff!…I’ve heard the word “biopsy” tossed around here a lot in the last two years, and I don’t like it one bit…grump!…When are they doing this biopsy anyways?…sniff!
Mushy!…I’m finally going to get to watch the mushing videos once she gets done doing whatever she is doing in the kitchen…gruffle!
Hocky!…Can we see this World Junior Hockey Championship on cable?…snort!… We like to watch sports – especially if its against those wee Canadians…heh!
8:04 pm on January 5th, 2011
Just watched the video! What great fun those dogs were having!
Thanks, Melanie. I did react to the audio…I know when sled dogs are ready to rock and roll. Those are Alaskan Huskies. My tribe would yark more than bark.
If anyone says to mom that those dogs are being made to do that and aren’t having fun, mom just tells them to watch the videos.
There are many beautiful photographs on Robertia’s website.
8:15 pm on January 5th, 2011
Siber-H: Glad you enjoyed it! I get emails from Anoumonous Bloggers. They are a group up in Alaska made up of mostly subsistance bloggers. I’ve learned a lot about fishing, mushing, and growing crops up in that cold place!
C-Harris: I’m using your “breath deeply a few times” in the cold weather.
B. Stover: Don’t do that yet.
Now about the moderating. I believe when I used a certain word that I was hit. I wonder if MB is using a filter. I certainly wasn’t using the word as a euphemism.
Anyhow, today is the first day I have not used the cane! The “stick” walking is really helping me, just in time to have the surgery!
8:17 pm on January 5th, 2011
Not moderated, but forgot the spell check . . .
That means it’s time for me to push Patsy over and hit the sheets.
I’ll have to try and find out where that saying came from.
Anyhoo . . . TTFN

Hey y’all! I’m back! Actually, I got back on Monday morning, but then Mom had her late night at the library, and on Tuesday night she went to Dad’s basketball game, then tonight she had handbell practice — so now she FINALLY turned on the computer for me!
Mom and Dad had a great time at the beach — they walked for miles and miles without me 🙁 They walked to the cabin they stayed at the past six years, and there were two dumpsters parked in front, with a machine ready to tear it down, so that part was kind of sad. The cabin next door is already gone. But they did enjoy staying at the cabin by the lighthouse. Mom even conquered her fear of heights and climbed the 175 steps to the observation deck — which was totally fogged in so she couldn’t observe anything! A couple hours later the fog was gone, but Mom decided one climb was enough. Maybe next year she’ll try again!
Oh, and they saw a goat on the way back from the beach. The good news is that it wasn’t marauding. It was just standing on a tree stump in its front yard, which thankfully was fenced in!

Siber H: Those Huskies are so excited because they know they are going to get to run, run, run. They must have good brakes on those sleds to hold back all that pent-up power.
Mollypop: Can you hear the Canadians cheering in Buffalo all the way from your place? They scored another goal. These young men are playing some fantastic hockey.
B.Stover: Make friends with your easy chair until your appointment with the specialist next Wednesday.
8:25 pm on January 5th, 2011
Really?…Those Husky guys are that excited about pulling a guy around on a sled in the snow and deep cold?….grunt!… I have the deepest sympathy for Siberh’s friends, the ones who put up with him and take care of him in the desert!…heh!…. Poor Siberh! … I have to say I would really like a double pair of those little footies they all had on…snort!…My paws hurt when I have to be in the snow and ice. I keep lifting them up and hobbling around till my friend takes pity on me and puts me inside ASAP. As soon as pawsible …grunt!…The part where they ran over the camera man was hilarious! I wonder how they got all those guys with booties on to come back?…wheeze!
8:27 pm on January 5th, 2011
Be careful Bernie, I think that you are being scammed. Chet, don’t let him take out his checkbook!
Tyb – What a an awful ordeal. I’m glad that you’re okay, but now I worry about Susie. Maybe we can rescue her on our next mission?
Bee – You’re scaring me. I’m glad you’re getting all these tests done but I am worried. Paws crossed here.
I thought 2011 is supposed to be all fluffy? Not in our neck of the woods. On Saturday, a friend of my boys, a 14 yo girl, borrowed her grandfather’s car to take her friend home. It was raining a she ran into a power pole and knocked a power line down. She got out of the car and got zapped. It was very sad.
8:29 pm on January 5th, 2011
Kirby!….Hey, Kirby is back. How was lock down pal?…snort!…Did you have a decent roommate? Or did you have to kick his ass to make sure he knew who was in charge while you were visiting….gruff!
8:35 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wolfie – What do you mean the girl got zapped? Is she still alive?
8:38 pm on January 5th, 2011
The kennel was good. My roommate was usually Buford, so I was alone this time — although I did have my bed and my new squeaky toy, so I wasn’t totally lonely. I had my annual exam while I was there, and I got a good report, although they want to knock me out and clean my teeth. Not sure how I feel about that. They were saying something about February being Dental Month so they give discounts then — I hope February is a long long time away.
The best thing was the last line my veterinarian wrote in my report card: “Thank you for bringing Kirby…he is such a sweet boy!” They like me, they really like me!!!
8:45 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wolfie: That is so very sad. As LizF. told us, the fluffyness doesn’t begin until The Chinese New Year on February third. Everybody be very careful until then, just in case.
Kirby T. Welcome back. Glad your folks enjoyed the beach. I love lighthouses, although I have never seen one up close and personal.
Canada scored again. The Russians have changed goalies.
8:45 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wolfie: Thank you for the crossed paws.
Rio: I won’t know when the biopsy is until I see the doctor next Wendesday.
SH: What is the difference between yarking and barking?
Welcome back Kirby.
8:58 pm on January 5th, 2011
Bee, Good luck with everything. We will be sending good positive thoughts from here.
We were going to ask that question about yarking, too.
9:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
Kirby!…I guess if you like the title of “a sweet boy”, then that’s okay…grunt!…I’ve never had to stay in lock down before, so I don’t know how much yeeping I would do…sniff!… My friend says they would probably tie me out back to a tree until she got home, so I usually have one of her friends come visit me here at my house….snorkel! …I always get a lot more food than usual…sigh!
Stover!….Those doctor guys are sure stringing you along, aren’t they?…grump! …I want your lung fixed now….dammit!sniff!
Wolfie!…Zapped?…Are you sure she didn’t just blurrr?….snort!…Poor kid…sniff!
9:26 pm on January 5th, 2011
Yikes!
The Russians just scored 2 goals 11 seconds apart and they are back in the game, losing by just 1 with 16 minutes to go in the 3rd period.
9:26 pm on January 5th, 2011
Welcome back Kirby!!
You guys, I don’t know how to describe the difference between a yark and a bark, but there is a difference. A bark sounds like it comes from deeper in the throat than a yark…a yark is yark, yark, yark, yark, yark, whereas a bark can have a range of up and downs. I can’t actually bark, like wolves don’t bark. Coyotes yip, yip, yip, which is higher pitched than a yark.
Rio, I think booties would be a good idea for you in the snow. The sled dogs don’t wear the booties for warmth but to protect their feet from the snow and ice conditions. Volunteeers sew those booties for the sled dogs. Can your friend sew? My mom can’t sew. Booties can be purchased at large pet stores, I think, and can for sure be purchased in pet catalogs and online.

Oh No!
Tie Game.
9:35 pm on January 5th, 2011
Oh no!
Not the phantom double post again. What the…
Rio: I think you should get a fashionable sweater with matching booties.
9:36 pm on January 5th, 2011
Booties!… I’ll be damned if I wear ‘booties’, but I will wear snow pads…heh!…I will make sure she buys me some pronto!…yeep! ….The advance in technology is mind boggling at times…wooooo!
9:39 pm on January 5th, 2011
Tie!…Game!…I do have to admit I’d rather see Canada win over the Russian….snort!…But then there’s Dawson to contend with…sigh!
9:48 pm on January 5th, 2011
Crap!
Russia pulls ahead and only 3 minutes to go.
9:51 pm on January 5th, 2011
Crapola!
5 unanswered goals by the Russians. That’s it. It’s over. Canada blows a 3 goal lead. Waaaah!
9:52 pm on January 5th, 2011
Rio and B&M: Thank you.
SH: That is a good explanation regarding the difference.
9:53 pm on January 5th, 2011
Mom knows a woman who had the same biopsy that Stover is going to have. What was learned from the biopsy is that the problem was pneumonia. The woman has been put on super-duper, expensive antibiotics.
Rio, it is okay to call them booties. In Alaska where dogs are dogs and men are men, and women once won the Iditarod, they call them booties. If mom walked me on streets and sidewalks where salt is put down in the winter, I would wear booties because there is no-way in heck that I would let her wash my feet off. That involves that dreaded substance, WATER.
9:54 pm on January 5th, 2011
Yes that Dawson is such a maniac.
However I have her under my paw. I only wish she were here to control. She has gone far away and I can only remember the good times on the wool rug with her petting me and petting me and petting me some more.
Staff says she is going to watch more sled dogs. She said it was really fun and she got all misty eyed watching them.
Not my reaction.
10:00 pm on January 5th, 2011
Ain’t no cheering happening in Buffalo now. Except for a few Russians the Buffalo stadium is silent. Two years in a row. First the U.S. last year and now the dreaded Russians. Canada hangs it’s head while the Russian yell crapola into the cameras. Jeez – these young lads are already missing their teeth. Can’t understand a word, but it doesn’t sound like they are saying hello to their mothers. There is Scotty Bowman – what a classy guy he is.
10:00 pm on January 5th, 2011
AbbieTheKat!…I do think you are the only one who can control the one we call, The Dawson….heh!…She is a spunky little Canadian whose team just lost big time. So beware!…snort! …Maybe we could market The Dawson along side of The Rio…grunt!..heh!
10:02 pm on January 5th, 2011
CRAP!….I am on the dreaded dark side again….grump!…What the hell..sniff!
10:11 pm on January 5th, 2011
Dawson – I thought you guys had it nailed. What happened? I couldn’t get the game.
These are hockey contests that should be between the US and Canada. That makes it fun! Where did these Russians come from?
10:12 pm on January 5th, 2011
You mean we have Russians in Buffalo?
10:17 pm on January 5th, 2011
Mollypop: I almost went to bed the game got so boring at the start of the third. Then suddenly, shit happened! Five times! I’m played out. It is awful hard work being a maniac. Good night.
10:31 pm on January 5th, 2011
Wha!?….I’m confused and Dawson cussed…heh!….I’ll be back in about 5 – 10 minutes …grump!…I hate the Dark Side…growl!
10:31 pm on January 5th, 2011
Poor Dawson. I remember how tense the world series was. It was fun but exhausting.
Regarding Sarah….No,she didn’t survive. I can’t imagine how her parents feel. Apparently she was quite the party girl and was drunk at the time. As you can imagine, it really hits home with me.
10:35 pm on January 5th, 2011
I am so glad to hear that the Chinese New Year doesn’t start until February. I was afraid that we were in for another year like last year. Apparently all we have to do is make it through January and the first few days of February.
Admin – thanks for the Astrid report. Now we can quit bugging you!
We do tend to get a little greedy sometimes, but it’s because we love Chet and we love mysteries.
10:41 pm on January 5th, 2011
Rio: What do mean by the dark side–page two?
10:55 pm on January 5th, 2011
Stover!…Are you still up?….snort!…You better get your little self to bed and get all the rest you can my dear!…grunt!…I refer to Page 2 as the dark side because it Takes Me FOREVER TO GET BACK HERE!…. grumble!…Sort of like the dark side of the moon or what not…sniff! … Or then there is the Star Wars metaphor I could use. Page 2 being Darth Vader…wheeze!… It’s not a very fun place to get to…snort! ….Does this make sense? …snuffle!
Blame!…I’m not blaming Mike Baker because I am forced to use an old computer with an older version of IE….snarl!
11:03 pm on January 5th, 2011
B.
Want you to know that my friend and I are sending lots of positive thoughts and energy your way and lots of prayers are being said also. You’ll do all right.
As for Susie: they are checking to find out where she came from originally. If she is a shelter dog, she will be removed from the people who have her because the policy of our shelter says that all adopted dogs have to be house dogs. None of them can be kept outside. I don’t know what is in the box with Susie, but the people are being watched closely. They always seem to have a lot of money, but nobody is working. Where do you suppose the cash comes from? They also seem to be doing a lot of entertaining, but none of the house guests stay long enough to have a cup of coffee. They must be getting something else.
11:04 pm on January 5th, 2011
I don’t really think the problem is our computers Rio. I have a new computer and I end up on page one after refreshing then to the top of page two after clicking on “next.” I does take awhile.
Good night all.
11:12 pm on January 5th, 2011
Thank you Tyb. And I hope that you’re feeling better after that ordeal.
11:17 pm on January 5th, 2011
Maybe Susie should stay and the people should go. Sounds like they need their own little plywood boxes. Oh, if only there was justice for all in this world.
Dawson, we have never heard you swear before, I don’t think! Wowser!
We are off to bed. Goodnight all.
11:33 pm on January 5th, 2011
No!….Denver is one of the worst cities for Bed Bugs!…grump!….Why the hell is Rockie and his Hill Billy gang clear across the country working Rhode Island?…snort!…I guess I need to add some money to their Go Phone accounts so I can communicate with them directly…grumble!…I hate spending my hard earned money….sniff!…Maybe I can write it off somehow to business expense, hmmm?… snort!…If only I could train them to answer their phones…sneeze!…They have their ring tones set to hillbilly music and dance up a hillbilly storm when I do call …grump! …Thank goodness I do not live anywhere near Denver. Still, it is too close for comfort…shudder!
News!…Best news today is, John Elway is once again involved with the Broncos!…heh!…Next year will be far more interesting than this year, thats for sure!…sigh!
11:52 pm on January 5th, 2011
Hey Tyb, how are you feeling now? I hope a good night’s rest helps. And I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Susie gets away from those awful people and finds a lovely forever home.
A drunk 14 year old taking the car and ending up dead is a sad, sad story. Hang in there Wolfie and Mary.
12:00 am on January 6th, 2011
I finally caught up on everything I missed while I was gone.
Rio: I was so sorry to read about Grandma. You’ve had a lot of loss in your life lately. I sure hope 2011 is a better year for you and your friend.
Bee: I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad. Mom had to have a biopsy, too, although it wasn’t for her lung. It’s a scary word. Just know that we’ll be thinking about you and hoping for the best. The good news is that maybe they’ll finally figure out what is — and isn’t — wrong with you.
TYB: I’m sorry that dog attacked you. Sometimes that happens. Missy — Buford’s sister, who went over the rainbow bridge a while back — attacked me a couple times, and I still have the scars to prove it! And Missy didn’t even have an excuse like Susie does. Mom and Dad finally just had to keep us in different areas of the house. In any case, I sure hope you recover soon!
Wolfie: I’m so sorry about your sons’ friend. It’s so sad when someone so young dies before they really get a chance to live.
Dan: Welcome to the Plunderers! I’m still not too sure what a raven fetish is. Mom used to know a guy who had a sock fetish, and she said that wasn’t such a good thing. We’re hoping the two fetishes have nothing in common!
12:17 am on January 6th, 2011
Oh, and Rio, there’s nothing wrong with being a sweet boy — you ought to try it sometime!!!
12:26 am on January 6th, 2011
Night, y’all!!!
1:11 am on January 6th, 2011
SiberH, mom finally went to the doctor today and they told her that she has walking pneumonia and the pills they gave her were 5 dollars apiece! Yikes, she could have spent $25 on me instead. Dad also got the expensive pills, since mom has been sharing her germs around. I hope that dogs can get people germs. She keeps kissing me. Has she never heard of keeping your bugs to yourself? *ick*

Bee – warm healing thoughts to you. Prayer, too.
Have a good day, Everybody.
