‘Cause he stopped loving her today. George Jones the King of Country.

Morning all. We think Spring may be here. 70 and sunny today. Barb got her garden soil delivered yesterday, so she is now $225.00 poorer. Happy day here, she can finally play in the dirt. We will post a picture when the beds are done.

Ya know, we never really listened to the words of that song. hmm. Kind of makes you think.

Yes, very sad. Probably written for his 3rd (we think) wife Tammy Wynette. He was married 4 times, but his last one was for 30 years. She is said to have helped him straighten out and be sober.

A Great video of his Most Famous Song. Sniff.

Gilly: (from last night) That was a Cool Book Spine poem.

Something came in the mail yesterday. This requires my Thinking Cap. Now where did I put that thing?

Here is the quilt we worked on this Thursday. It is a secret so don’t tell any of the other TreadleOn ‘onions’. There will be an additional 3-5 inches of dark border around it. Right now it is 75″x87″. A good day’s work. Nothing like Wookie’s Mom finishes at her major get togethers but a good job none the less. We worked with Hand Crank Machines and there were only 10 of us. We had a whale of a lot of fun though.

Staff – that is a remarkable quilt. We can see why quilting gets to be such an habit. We were going to use another word, but we thought the moderator would get upset.

Mama is feeling extremely virtuous today. She got a project finished AND off in the mail, even though she says she doesn’t have a brain anymore.

She is going to see the Storyteller after lunch. The deal is, he gets his lunch tray, and if it’s inedible, he calls Mama and she brings him a picnic. Wonder if she is planning to bring a Corgi along too?

Staff: The quilt is gawgeous! Mom has an old Singer treadle maching she used to do down filled projects with (till she got a power machine with gears, whatever they are). Now she says she’s too lazy to do anything.
Hope the Storyteller has something interesting for lunch (from home?) Sounds like there’s progress.
It is gooood to know that Rio is in fine pug form this a.m.

Love BSD and T &G spine poetry. Also love Staff’s quilt project.

Did some shopping at Fresh Market. Got some porterhouse steaks to do on the grill that SIL is going to put together for us tomorrow. He is also putting together the new patio set of table and 4 chairs. Bought him some Summer Shandys too. His free labor dosn’t come cheap!

Barb put some newspaper down in the bottom of the beds this morning, then when Josh gets here at 6:00 we will staple plastic around the inside of the walls, then he can start filling.

Playing in the dirt is therapy for Barb (and me).

    Time for a short nap.

Good afternoon! I went down the hill with Jesse, our not go to guy right now because of severe back problems. He needed to get out of his house and I needed to do chores.

We now have two new bags of dog food, 50 pounds of oiled sunflowerseeds (for the birds), I had a cup of decaf coffee!!!!!! (For me that’s like a large exta caffeine coffee for you all, picked up a rain barrel, and another pallet.

The first pallet had something spilled on it and is going back into the garage. The new one was hand sellected by Tim The Dog Food and Gardening Guy. He loves what I am doing and wants pictures.

I unloaded the car, had some lunch, and have now collapsed with the heating pad.

Love the book spine poetry comments. I hope to have fun in the dirt at some point.

Sharon: LOL! The dropped “h” can, as in Liza’s case, indicate a Cockney accent. In some cases, dropped or pronounced “h” is caused by the derivation of the word. French, for example, doesn’t pronounce the “h”.

One of the definitions of “dirt” is “soil” (nouns). One definition of the verb “soil” is “to make dirty.” In any case, the soil in my garden is very rich and dirty.

“Honest” and “honor” are derived from French. “Heir” is derived from Latin but “heritage” is derived from Old French “eritier” which means “heir.” “Height” and “help” (pronounced “h”) are derived from Old English which is Western Germanic.

Rio: Exactly! My mama used the same, let’s call them persuasive, techniques when she convinced the Giant that they should move to Alaska and start running dogs. She’s also used the same technique when she’s welcomed another rescue into the kennel.

Bee, thank you, we have the same opinion of Ms. Martha.

Golinka, We are positively astounded that such an independent woman does not pump her own gas. Barb is shaking her head as she tries to wrap her brain around this. Who does this task for you, Storyteller or dad? Barb wishes she could be spoiled like that.

All the garden soil is in place. We ended up short, so one garden is tall and the other one will be short for this year. Oh well, plants will still grow.

Our Lady tried having a flower garden a handful of years ago. She had a hard time keeping the team from helping with watering. We also did our fair bit of tromping through the garden. In the end, she gave up and never looked back.

That quilt is unbelievable! Beautiful work.
Rio, you are going to give Beau some sort of complex.

    Hmm . .
I can fill a hole with dirt or soil.
I can get dirtied with soil.
I can get soiled with dirt.
But, though I can soil someone or something,
I can not dirt the same.

    Brain freeze . .

If I had baseball toys I would place them just so and curl up in my warm bed.
I have no baseball toys so I will sleep with a Newf.

We plead innocent on the not-knowing-how-to-pump-gas thing. It’s like this:
Prior to marriage, gas stations still pumped for you.
After marriage, lived in New Jersey, where to this day, you cannot pump your own gas.
Moved to PA and almost immediately was hurt in an accident that meant right leg was in a brace for 7 years, hence no driving.
After that, sold two smaller vehicles for one large pickup that the Storyteller always drove.
Many years of one vehicle that was used for shows and traveling- always with the Storyteller.
5 years ago, went back to 2 vehicles, and pleaded ignorant of gas pumping technique. The Storyteller considered it a matter of gentlemanly pride to keep my gas tank full.
He was very worried before surgery about my soiling my dainty, ladylike (clay hardened, hardworking, unmanicured) hands with gas pumping duty, and took Gramp aside to recruit him in the interim. But Gramp isn’t always there.
When told that someone had managed to fill the tank without blowing anything up, the Storyteller was very thoughtful and sad. He said he never wanted me to have to do that.
Of course, it’s ok for someone to clean cat boxes, pick up poo, and clean out yucky mystery containers from the back of the fridge.
Or take on medical people and car mechanics and stuff like that.
But he never wanted someone to have to pump gas.

This is the kind of thing that makes someone’s heart go pitter pat.

Rio, The quilt is for a meeting of Treadle On Sewing machine addicts collectors. In September. Unfortunately it is spoken for. I could buy a whole bunch of tickets for it and if I win it put it in the Snowhook Auction.

The big brown leaf block is mine and there are two others with similar fabrics to the leaf. They are just pieced blocks with a lot of triangles. Not as noticeable as the leaf. We had all the inner blocks sewn and just had to do the sashing and borders and sew them all together on Thursday.

Tupper’s Mom. We are quite touched by the gentlemanly actions of the Storyteller and his pumping of gas. Sniff. Soon he will be back to doing it for you. Just you wait and see.

Thank you all for your comments about our quilt. I will have a wall hanging for the auction. I promise. Now it is time for beddy bye here. Good luck to the Rockies…we will not talk about the twinkies.
