‘Cause he stopped loving her today. George Jones the King of Country.
Morning all. We think Spring may be here. 70 and sunny today. Barb got her garden soil delivered yesterday, so she is now $225.00 poorer. Happy day here, she can finally play in the dirt. We will post a picture when the beds are done.
10:42 am on April 27th, 2013
Good morning all.
Ya know, we never really listened to the words of that song. hmm. Kind of makes you think.
10:47 am on April 27th, 2013
Yes, very sad. Probably written for his 3rd (we think) wife Tammy Wynette. He was married 4 times, but his last one was for 30 years. She is said to have helped him straighten out and be sober.

Good morning all.

Gooood moorning everyone! Glad we did bbq for Idaho peeps yesterday. Today and tomorrow: 60’s, rainy, boomy.
Barb: Gooood dirt news.Playing in it is cheaper than therapy!
Hope the Storyteller continues to progress and gooood to hear Rose is getting out from the quilt.
Hope all have a super Saturday.

Thank you, Chet, for the link.
A Great video of his Most Famous Song. Sniff.
Bennie the Newf! Finally saw the BAC commercial thanks to Melanie’s tip to look on YouTube.
Barb&Magpie: Playing in the Dirt! Now that’s something
you BOTH can enjoy.
Gilly: (from last night) That was a Cool Book Spine poem.
Something came in the mail yesterday. This requires my Thinking Cap. Now where did I put that thing?
Herd of Hounds: Super Saturday. Love it!

According to USPS the package for Rebecca has passed through the Washington State USPS facility and is “on its way to the destination point”. Whew! The MG in Iowa coughed it up!

Mom just poked me in the ribs and told me not to laugh at Rio’s post.
Great title for Spence’s obit today. Thanks for the video.
Good Morning All

Here is the quilt we worked on this Thursday. It is a secret so don’t tell any of the other TreadleOn ‘onions’. There will be an additional 3-5 inches of dark border around it. Right now it is 75″x87″. A good day’s work. Nothing like Wookie’s Mom finishes at her major get togethers but a good job none the less. We worked with Hand Crank Machines and there were only 10 of us. We had a whale of a lot of fun though.

11:44 am on April 27th, 2013
Staff – that is a remarkable quilt. We can see why quilting gets to be such an habit. We were going to use another word, but we thought the moderator would get upset.
Mama is feeling extremely virtuous today. She got a project finished AND off in the mail, even though she says she doesn’t have a brain anymore.
She is going to see the Storyteller after lunch. The deal is, he gets his lunch tray, and if it’s inedible, he calls Mama and she brings him a picnic. Wonder if she is planning to bring a Corgi along too?
12:10 pm on April 27th, 2013
Staff: The quilt is gawgeous! Mom has an old Singer treadle maching she used to do down filled projects with (till she got a power machine with gears, whatever they are). Now she says she’s too lazy to do anything.
Hope the Storyteller has something interesting for lunch (from home?) Sounds like there’s progress.
It is gooood to know that Rio is in fine pug form this a.m.
12:11 pm on April 27th, 2013
Staff – beautiful quilt, truly handmade.
Rio – made me snort outloud! You’re funny.
12:11 pm on April 27th, 2013
Silly Gilly is a book spine poet extraordinaire. Whoda thunk it?
I liked Melanie and Zoe’s poem too and would like to “go with”.
I am ready (almost) for the road trip and Barb and Maggie’s weather has cleared up so all systems are go.
From 8 inches of snow to hot in less than a week.
12:18 pm on April 27th, 2013
Staff: Quite the quilt! Even more amazing it was all completed in a day. Of course there were 10 of you, but still.
T&G: Picnics with Mama and youse is always better than yucky hospital food.
B: If not George Jones, had you heard this song before?
A good trip to Dawson and the Turtleman.

Riö & Siber: Good game last night.

Masquers, Yes it was! Now the Rockies need to do it all over again tonight.
Staff, beautiful quilt! It should be worth a fortune.

BSD: Simlpe, yet effective. Kind of like us of the nation within. We give it a paws up. Mom did one but is still trying to learn how to put pix here (she has directions, she’s just deficient!)
1:28 pm on April 27th, 2013
Love BSD and T &G spine poetry. Also love Staff’s quilt project.
Did some shopping at Fresh Market. Got some porterhouse steaks to do on the grill that SIL is going to put together for us tomorrow. He is also putting together the new patio set of table and 4 chairs. Bought him some Summer Shandys too. His free labor dosn’t come cheap!
Barb put some newspaper down in the bottom of the beds this morning, then when Josh gets here at 6:00 we will staple plastic around the inside of the walls, then he can start filling.
Playing in the dirt is therapy for Barb (and me).
Time for a short nap.

Bummer…books were some of the first things I packed up and took to storage. I only have the Chet books and a few others still in the house so I will have to excuse myself from the book spine poetry for now.
In the 20s for a few days and still 2′ of snow on the ground. I am very tired of winter.

Mom is running around like a mad woman. She just looked out the front window to see if any other birds had arrived for “the season” when suddennly she started gobbling! She said it is “pavolexia”, an uncontrollable urge to gobble at turkeys!
There were 5 in the front yard 🙂
2:19 pm on April 27th, 2013
Good afternoon! I went down the hill with Jesse, our not go to guy right now because of severe back problems. He needed to get out of his house and I needed to do chores.
We now have two new bags of dog food, 50 pounds of oiled sunflowerseeds (for the birds), I had a cup of decaf coffee!!!!!! (For me that’s like a large exta caffeine coffee for you all, picked up a rain barrel, and another pallet.
The first pallet had something spilled on it and is going back into the garage. The new one was hand sellected by Tim The Dog Food and Gardening Guy. He loves what I am doing and wants pictures.
I unloaded the car, had some lunch, and have now collapsed with the heating pad.
Love the book spine poetry comments. I hope to have fun in the dirt at some point.
Oh, what the heck is Summer Shandys?
2:20 pm on April 27th, 2013
I’ve been working in the garden. (Whispering: It’s harder work than it used to be.) Next Saturday Farmer’s Market opens and I’ll buy herbs.
Masquers: No, I’ve never heard that song before. There was an article about him in the NYTimes. Country music all sounds the same to me…and makes me want to howl. (Sorry.)
Rio: Bad dog! (But I’m still laughing.)
I really enjoy the book spine poetry.
2:25 pm on April 27th, 2013
Sharon: Are they wild turkeys? I’ve only seen turkeys on a turkey farm.
There’s a new episode of Elementary!

Melanie, Summer Shandy is a traditional weiss beer with lemonade added. It is a wheat and barley beer, so off limits for some of youse guys that are gluten free. It is very refreshing and is only available in the summer months. Made by Leinenkugel.
2:51 pm on April 27th, 2013
Royals, Thank You for the Special Storyteller Video. sniff.
2:54 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hi Leonard! You’re looking and sounding good.
2:59 pm on April 27th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: We recently saw a Leinenkugel commercial on TV. A brew made in the town where our Gramps & Gram lived! We could see the sign from their house. Good memories from the summers Nana spent there.
3:01 pm on April 27th, 2013
Leonard has been wanting to thank everyone and we bought this would be a good way. His vocal cords were pretty scratched up during surgery, so he still sounds a little raspy, but we simply don’t care. Just glad to have him doing so very well.
3:32 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hey pug, if it wasn’t for us OFA probably would have shut this here bog down and gone to FB exclusively. So long as he postsSOMETHING so we have a place to hang out, it is A OK with us. It’s like he unlocks the door and turns on the lights for us.
3:56 pm on April 27th, 2013
Macy: I like that! And Chet is Always There to keep an eye on things.
4:08 pm on April 27th, 2013
Macy, Well said, well said. We often think what a big commitment it is for a busy author to set us up every single day. Many thanks OFA.
We could not access Leonard’s thank you for some reason. Sob.
Bee, do you say HERBS or ERBS? We always thought the h was silent but Martha Steward says HERBS. One would think she would speak correctly, but it drives Barb crazy when she says it that way.
4:11 pm on April 27th, 2013
I can’t keep my mind off of how cute Princess Sam is since the pictures yesterday. My favorite picture of her is all of them.
Macy: Any word on your pop’s interview?
4:11 pm on April 27th, 2013
Do you think Jon Katz or James Patterson would do something like this for his fans? Not a chance, Nada, Zero, Zilch. Spence is something special! And Admin. ain’t too bad either.
4:17 pm on April 27th, 2013
T&G: the video was so nice! I think of your family everyday and send good thoughts.
Barb & Maggie: The video didn’t automatically run for me, I had to click on the tab located in the top right of the screen to give permission for it to play.
Realtor comes Monday to look at the house and talk to me about listing it. Of course, I open an unused bedroom door downstairs this morning and saw that a couple of ceiling tiles were soaked– evidently from the kitchen sink drainage problem. {{{sigh}}}}
4:24 pm on April 27th, 2013
Saw Jones in the mid 1950’s when the Grand Ol Opry would have touring companies that went out – even to places as remote as Phoenix. Also saw Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff and nearly everybody else. Glad that dad planted that seed in me because I wouldn’t go near country music for decades, but now I’m a huge bluegrass fan.
4:26 pm on April 27th, 2013
I will catch up in a few whiles. Going to watch New Tricks with Zoe.
But first two photos from Facebook.

BSD, Is the town in Wisconsin?
C Hobbit, That is the way things always happen with real estate. It is some kind of Murphy’s Law.
4:36 pm on April 27th, 2013
B: If you need help playing in dirt, I offer my services. I’m no Siber-H, but I can dig a fair hole. You could read one of your books aloud while I misplace dirt.
5:02 pm on April 27th, 2013
Macy: We agree re: OFA and this blog.
5:04 pm on April 27th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: It is!
Melanie: The Spider With Hat is very cute.
Where are the O’Howlers?
5:06 pm on April 27th, 2013
Barb: I say “erbs” with a silent “h.” (You don’t want to know what I think about Martha Stewart.)
Now I have to ponder the silent “h” in many words….
5:09 pm on April 27th, 2013
Anyone who has had the Pleasure of Meeting OFA can understand why he does what he does.
A nicer author, who cares more about his fans, we are sure does not exist.
5:11 pm on April 27th, 2013
Yes, yes! It is Definitely (H)erbs with the H silent.
Like youse, we grit our teeth when it is pronounced like a Human’s name.
5:16 pm on April 27th, 2013
Charlie: I need dirt taken from one place to two other places. Then I need that dirt mounded and stamped firm. Is that part of your talents? Of course, you may come over and I’ll read to you regardless. We still haven’t finished the Divine Comedy.
5:22 pm on April 27th, 2013
Why does the silent “h” remind me of “My Fair Lady”?
I can’t wait until Elementary comes out on dvd.
5:29 pm on April 27th, 2013
B: ‘urricanes ‘ardly hever ‘appen????? Have fun moving (is it dirt or is it) soil.
5:42 pm on April 27th, 2013
Awww – T&G. You made me cry, happy tears. So nice to see your da and hear his voice. Thanks.
5:51 pm on April 27th, 2013
Sharon: LOL! The dropped “h” can, as in Liza’s case, indicate a Cockney accent. In some cases, dropped or pronounced “h” is caused by the derivation of the word. French, for example, doesn’t pronounce the “h”.
One of the definitions of “dirt” is “soil” (nouns). One definition of the verb “soil” is “to make dirty.” In any case, the soil in my garden is very rich and dirty.
5:56 pm on April 27th, 2013
B: Lucky you with the rich, dirty soil. One thought…just because someone is well known, popular, famous or even notorius doesn’t really make them an expert. With you on Ms. Stewart.

Gah!…We have unexpected company who will not leave!…gah!gah! and double Gah!
6:07 pm on April 27th, 2013
That last comment made by someone here is
obviously a thinly disguised attempt to get
a pawtographed copy of the new Robbie book.
Coming out when again? We have it on pre-order.

B: Thanks for the reminder about Elementary.

Stealing from the Rich…release date…May 16th!
6:20 pm on April 27th, 2013
B: I’m more about excavation and a bit about stamping, but you lost me at the dirt being divided into two different places. The only thing I know about mounds is my kibble is in sort of a mound as soon as it hits my dish. That said, I’ll blur over for a bit of Divine Comedy.
6:20 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rogue!…Company! They went and bought food for her mother to make them supper…grunt!…It is only 4:20 here – this is odd…sniff!sniff!….I don’t care for organic hot-dawgs…wheeze!
6:25 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hiding!….I’m hiding downstairs – there is a girl-kid up there and I don’t get along with kids…sniff!…Beau, he loves kids. He grew up with a little girl. He is in Kid-Heaven right now…grunt!…Better him than me by golly.
6:30 pm on April 27th, 2013
Golinka!…That is an amazing movie starring Leonard The Liberated…heh!….How wonderful to hear his voice and see him “live”…chuffle!
6:33 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hey!…Stover knows my middle name too…snort!
6:45 pm on April 27th, 2013
Gilly, tell Golinka that Zoë had no trouble hearing pr understanding Leonard.
An honest heir honors thoughts of school.

Charlie: We still have to decide which translation we like the best.
6:54 pm on April 27th, 2013
Gah…..Mama comes home SOOOOO tired, and Gramp just doesn’t get it. He waits all day, just to ask her “What’s for dinner?”, when that is the very last thing in the world that she cares about. Even when she tells him about food that is in the house, and tells him to eat dinner without her, and what is available – she can drag her tired tail in at 8 pm, and he still won’t have had dinner, cuz he “wanted to wait for her”. But then he sits there, hemming and hawing about what he wants. She is about ready to put an ad in the newspaper “For Sale – one incredibly annoying old man. Comes with cuddly white dog. MUST take the set, not just adorable dog.”
aarrrggghhhhh
7:00 pm on April 27th, 2013
Golinka: Ah, go easy on the guy. He does pump your gas for you.
7:07 pm on April 27th, 2013
Luna – alas and alack – Mama is no longer an “amateur” in the gas pumping field. She had no choice one day while coming home from the hospital. So, for the very first time in her (longer than a month of Sundays) life, she had to pump her own gas.
sigh
Virgin no more.
7:09 pm on April 27th, 2013
“Honest” and “honor” are derived from French. “Heir” is derived from Latin but “heritage” is derived from Old French “eritier” which means “heir.” “Height” and “help” (pronounced “h”) are derived from Old English which is Western Germanic.
7:38 pm on April 27th, 2013
Gone!…They are finally gone!gone!gone! and I have a story to tell but I am too tired to even think about it…sniff!
7:40 pm on April 27th, 2013
Staff!….That Quilt is Amazing!!…snort!…Which squares did you work on and will this be available for the Summer Auction?…wheeze!
8:08 pm on April 27th, 2013
Golinka: I say this as a loving mother—I wouldn’t go around advertising your er, status. You don’t want the neighbors to talk.
8:26 pm on April 27th, 2013
Luna – would you consider an even swap? Our Gramp for your Belle Starr? That way Belle could even have a kitten.
8:29 pm on April 27th, 2013
Luna!…I will throw in Beau, just for the hell of it…sniff!
8:50 pm on April 27th, 2013
Golinka: There are days I might consider it, but in the end, I know my girl belongs with me.
Rio: I would love to suprise my mama with a hug, but I don’t think so.
8:53 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hug!?…snort!….I’m not offering you a Hug, I am offering a fat smelly, farty pants pug with a short temper…heh!heh!..No, not a hug. Far from it…chorkel!
8:56 pm on April 27th, 2013
Whoa! Wait! Did you say a kitten was involved? Maybe I can talk my Four-legged into a time-share. I don’t know if my two-legged will agree. Do you know what she called me this morning?—Her Little Luna!
8:58 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rio: I mean to type pug, but know that you’ve described the extras that comes with the pug, I think I’ll find a different surprise for my mama.
9:03 pm on April 27th, 2013
Gah!…That means I am stuck!stuck!stuck! with him…grunt!
SiberH!…Are you watching the game?…sneeze!…I’ve very concerned about our pitcher tonight…grunt!
9:12 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rio, sigh, yes, I am watching the game and am also concerned.
9:14 pm on April 27th, 2013
Our pitcher’s ERA is, gulp, 8.35
9:17 pm on April 27th, 2013
Damages!…Well Francis got out of that inning with no major damages….whew!gasp!…I really feel he needs to be replaced before it is too late though…sniff!
9:22 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rio: Changing your approach as salespug might help. Instead of focusing on the smelly side of Beau’s ‘extras,’ it might help to focus on the positive. Try something like: Step right up! Get a black pug of your very own! And, he’s no ordinary pug! He is the rare Bible-thumping pug. Need a place to sign autographs, but can’t find a flat surface? With this pug, your problem is solved—a flatter head you’ve never seen! Wait there’s more! This pug comes with his own designer scent. Eau de Beau is not sold in stores. Don’t delay! Quantities are limited.
9:25 pm on April 27th, 2013
Snort!….Luna, I now see the error of my ways….chorkel!…It’s all about making others think they are getting a good deal…heh!heh!
9:26 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rio: Exactly! My mama used the same, let’s call them persuasive, techniques when she convinced the Giant that they should move to Alaska and start running dogs. She’s also used the same technique when she’s welcomed another rescue into the kennel.
9:31 pm on April 27th, 2013
9:37 pm on April 27th, 2013
Hi Beau!!
9:37 pm on April 27th, 2013
I must warn my mama not to look at Beau’s picture. She is a sucker for ‘the look.’
9:41 pm on April 27th, 2013
Beau!…My friend says the mad, sad, crazy look has left his eyes – and his temper is not really that short – but he is fat and he smells. No getting around those facts…sniff!
9:53 pm on April 27th, 2013
We love Beau! He is adorable.
9:59 pm on April 27th, 2013
Bee, thank you, we have the same opinion of Ms. Martha.
Golinka, We are positively astounded that such an independent woman does not pump her own gas. Barb is shaking her head as she tries to wrap her brain around this. Who does this task for you, Storyteller or dad? Barb wishes she could be spoiled like that.
All the garden soil is in place. We ended up short, so one garden is tall and the other one will be short for this year. Oh well, plants will still grow.
10:07 pm on April 27th, 2013
Barb!….Barbie! Your garden(s) will be perfect and you know it…heh!burp!…Unlike someone’s here. She will fight to plant what she wants where she wants and probably lose the battle …grunt!
10:12 pm on April 27th, 2013
Barb: Are you planning on composting? If so, it will fill in those low spots in the garden.
10:14 pm on April 27th, 2013
Our Lady tried having a flower garden a handful of years ago. She had a hard time keeping the team from helping with watering. We also did our fair bit of tromping through the garden. In the end, she gave up and never looked back.
10:14 pm on April 27th, 2013
Rio, how can you say mean things about that pugly little brachycephalic face?
10:19 pm on April 27th, 2013
That quilt is unbelievable! Beautiful work.
Rio, you are going to give Beau some sort of complex.
Hmm . .
I can fill a hole with dirt or soil.
I can get dirtied with soil.
I can get soiled with dirt.
But, though I can soil someone or something,
I can not dirt the same.
Brain freeze . .
If I had baseball toys I would place them just so and curl up in my warm bed.
I have no baseball toys so I will sleep with a Newf.
TTFN
10:22 pm on April 27th, 2013
Brachycephalic!….Does that mean fat and smelly??…snort!
10:25 pm on April 27th, 2013
Thieves!…Because of us everything my friend plants will be in high pots so we cannot water the plant, just the pot…heh!heh!…Her chili peppers will be surrounded by a fence which we will try to figure out all spring, summer and fall long…grunt!…There has got to be a way IN!
10:26 pm on April 27th, 2013
Short snouted! Nighty night

Rio: Say the word and we’ll be happy to led our services and long legs.
10:34 pm on April 27th, 2013
Legs!…heh!heh!…Youse guys would be my friends worst garden-nightmare…chorkel!
10:37 pm on April 27th, 2013
It’s not the first time we’ve been a nightmare. Won’t be the last.
10:45 pm on April 27th, 2013
We plead innocent on the not-knowing-how-to-pump-gas thing. It’s like this:
Prior to marriage, gas stations still pumped for you.
After marriage, lived in New Jersey, where to this day, you cannot pump your own gas.
Moved to PA and almost immediately was hurt in an accident that meant right leg was in a brace for 7 years, hence no driving.
After that, sold two smaller vehicles for one large pickup that the Storyteller always drove.
Many years of one vehicle that was used for shows and traveling- always with the Storyteller.
5 years ago, went back to 2 vehicles, and pleaded ignorant of gas pumping technique. The Storyteller considered it a matter of gentlemanly pride to keep my gas tank full.
He was very worried before surgery about my soiling my dainty, ladylike (clay hardened, hardworking, unmanicured) hands with gas pumping duty, and took Gramp aside to recruit him in the interim. But Gramp isn’t always there.
When told that someone had managed to fill the tank without blowing anything up, the Storyteller was very thoughtful and sad. He said he never wanted me to have to do that.
Of course, it’s ok for someone to clean cat boxes, pick up poo, and clean out yucky mystery containers from the back of the fridge.
Or take on medical people and car mechanics and stuff like that.
But he never wanted someone to have to pump gas.
This is the kind of thing that makes someone’s heart go pitter pat.
10:45 pm on April 27th, 2013
HA!…choke!…I almost laughed right out-loud about that nightmare comment…heh!sniff!
10:49 pm on April 27th, 2013
HOH, we are adding some compost to the gardens. We are using mushroom compost in addition to the special compost we brought from the the farm. It was made from chicken droppings and maurding goat droppings.
Night all.

Rio, The quilt is for a meeting of Treadle On Sewing machine
addictscollectors. In September. Unfortunately it is spoken for. I could buy a whole bunch of tickets for it and if I win it put it in the Snowhook Auction. The big brown leaf block is mine and there are two others with similar fabrics to the leaf. They are just pieced blocks with a lot of triangles. Not as noticeable as the leaf. We had all the inner blocks sewn and just had to do the sashing and borders and sew them all together on Thursday.
Tupper’s Mom. We are quite touched by the gentlemanly actions of the Storyteller and his pumping of gas. Sniff. Soon he will be back to doing it for you. Just you wait and see.
Thank you all for your comments about our quilt. I will have a wall hanging for the auction. I promise. Now it is time for beddy bye here. Good luck to the Rockies…we will not talk about the twinkies.

Coach told my mama when she was a pre-teen that he wanted her to be an independent woman and not a feminist. He said an independent woman gets equal pay, etc, but still gets the door opened for her.

Melanie: When the gas tank is almost empty, I invite the man who lives in the house for a ride. He thinks a man should be pumping the gas and I think he who pumps the gas, pays for the gas.
