Late Late Late Friend of the Month Reminder
“Too late, actually,” Admin says, “what with today being December 2.”
“How did this happen?” says Spence.
“Meaning it’s my fault?”
“Let’s not cast blame.”
“Why not? It’s the world’s most popular sport.”
“Instead let’s pretend today is the last day of November, meaning it’s the last day of eligibility for December’s Friend of the Month contest. All you have to do is upload a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery. The random # generator does the rest! If you’re already in the gallery you’re eligible till the crack of doom. Prize is a signed – and paw-printed – copy of A Fistful of Collars and the winning Friend of the Month is displayed for the entire month in the special place over on the right where Logan is now. Easy, fun, and we’ll throw in a free vacation to pre-Roman Carthage.”*
Welcome Scooter.
*All 100% true except for pre-Roman Carthage, which would involve time travel.

First!?….snort!…Is everyone sleeping in or shopping?…grunt!…I hope Wookie is up and at-it over there at Auction Central…heh!heh!
9:51 am on December 2nd, 2012
Good morning, Rio! Hw’d you get up so early? Is it all the cawfee you’ve been gulping down over at AC?
10:05 am on December 2nd, 2012
I’m ready to be picked the FOM tomorrow!
10:09 am on December 2nd, 2012
No, no, no, Sammy. It’s my turn for FOM! Sorry, maybe you can have January.
Good morning everyone. Wow, Rio, you are up early!
10:24 am on December 2nd, 2012
Time travel would be interesting.
Good morning all.
10:29 am on December 2nd, 2012
Which brings up an interesting question . .
When and where would you go if time travel existed?
Good Morning all.
10:30 am on December 2nd, 2012
Yaaaaawwwnn – excuse us – last day of the show, so we’re pretty tired.
Melanie – we have sent you an email, but our server says it can’t send, even tho it shows sent. So we don’t know if it went or not.
Hope the auction is going well. We will be in the middle of pack out when it all ends so we wish you all good luck and happy spending.
10:32 am on December 2nd, 2012
I would love time travel, but I don’t want to go to pre-Roman Carthage.
Good Morning All
10:38 am on December 2nd, 2012
T&G, nope. Hasn’t come in at this point.
10:45 am on December 2nd, 2012
I’d like to meet the Romantic Poets in the Lake District, England and then go to Victorian England.
10:46 am on December 2nd, 2012
Well, so far I’ve thought about going into the future, but decided against that.
I was just talking to Zoe. She said it wasn’t something she thinks about often (or at all). She said the word “travel” just depresses her right now. She’s too tired.
I said I wasn’t sure about going into the past. It seems so raw. She said, “It’s raw now, it’s just that you’re used to it.”
She is a wise woman.
10:47 am on December 2nd, 2012
Siber-H: Time Travel…I quite agree…pre-Roman Carthage is out as a desirable destination.
10:54 am on December 2nd, 2012
Bids!…I’m a free pug today, so I can bid on things…heh!heh!…Some of you better watch out – and you know who you are!…chuffle!…I’ve got my paws on Beau’s December Treatie money…snort!
11:00 am on December 2nd, 2012
I would not want to go into the future. I would like to travel back to the American West before the white man arrived.
This is a strange one, but I would like to time trip back to France, April 1917, because I want to see and hear the British and German World War I aircraft.
Another journey would be to England during the time of Lord Admiral Nelson. I would like to see the ships.
Mom just informed me that where she is really going right now is to the grocery store.
11:07 am on December 2nd, 2012
If Barb had to pick one spot in time, she would travel back to 1800 to Monticello, home Thomas Jefferson. She is obsessed with the story of Sally Hemmings. She was 1/4 black, and half sister to Thomas Jefferson’s wife, who died young. When he was in Paris with two of his daughters, he started an affair with Sally (who was about 16 and maid to his daughters). Supposedly she lived in the home at Monticello and remained with Jefferson till his death about 40 years later. They had many children, but she was still not a free woman. Barb wishes she could see what she looked like and what the true relationship was between them. Was it love or ownership? Might be hard to love someone who “owns” you. And what about her being underage? Can you imagine if a political did that today?
11:24 am on December 2nd, 2012
Pictures from the feeder. Different birds . .
Black Capped Chickadee with, I believe (I wasn’t able to see it’s head) a Downy Woodpecker.
11:26 am on December 2nd, 2012
Another Black Capped Chickadee with a female Cardinal
11:28 am on December 2nd, 2012
Another Black Capped Chickadee (they are the most numerous) with a Tufted Titmouse.

11:29 am on December 2nd, 2012
And finally a Dark Eyed Junko? Maybe?
11:36 am on December 2nd, 2012
We would like to travel not so much as to a “when” but to a “who”. We would love to meet Eleanor Roosevelt and Agatha Christie and Julia Child and Chief Joseph and our own Great Great Grandparents
11:42 am on December 2nd, 2012
Cool, a tufted titmouse. I don’t think I have those in North Dakota. We are on the edge of the eastern flyway there and some birds, like Cardinals, are very rare for us.
I can’t tell if that is a Junco, but nothing that I can see says it isn’t one. The beak is right. Diagnostic mark would be the sides of the tail marked with white.

Alice knows her birds!
11:47 am on December 2nd, 2012
I don’t know if I would want to go to an earlier time. I think of the Victorian era and I wouldn’t want to be a member of the haut ton. Not if I had to be a female. And I certainly wouldn’t want to be a servant. Not a lot of scope for a woman in those days. You were property or you were a drudge it seems to me.
It might be interesting to see the women who fought for women’s suffrage in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, but not to be one who was jailed and tortured because of it.
I guess I am content to be right here.
11:52 am on December 2nd, 2012
Mom says she would love to time travel. Us…not so much. Dogs are treated better nowadays it seems. Mom does not want to travel to the future. She has many times in the past she would like to witness. She would like to be sitting in this here kitchen when the politics of the day were being discussed ~1850s. Also, she would like to be in Philadelphia during the summer of 1776.
11:59 am on December 2nd, 2012
Good morning.
I was out gamboling until the wee hours last night. Now I feel fuzzy. I’ll get cawfee then see if there are any bids that need to be made.
T&G: Best of luck with this last day of your show.
If I had a dog team, this would be perfect weather. Maybe just a tad warm at -2 F.
Birds! I like’em!
Logan: One more day!
12:05 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Moi? I want to time travel only a few hours into the future:
1) to see the auction results.
2) FOTM photo.
12:07 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Bird Note. You are becoming quite the expert on our little feathered friends.
Great photos all.
12:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I would like to spend a year up here with the Natives before the whiteman cometh. But it would have to be a younger version of myself – not this old wreck I am today.
I’d like to spend some time with grandma at the hotel they ran and see the workings of the kitchen, recipes and all.
But mostly I like it where I am, with my soft pillows in the right places in my warm bed, ready to snuggle in at the end of the day.
12:13 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Riö: For-bid-den. I have been informed further bidding on a certain item is now out of my budget range. May the best pug win!
12:17 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I like the pictures of the birds. That looks like a Junco. Does it have a cream colored breast?
Who/what is Logan?
12:17 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Masquers, that cracked us up.
Melanie, your bird photos are really good. We love watching birds. So do the rents, but for different reasons, and they are marveling at your photos.
12:18 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Pop does not want to time travel.
12:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Changes to the Past and the Future can only be made from
The Eternal Now. The Best place to be in my opinion.
Dawson: You are having a heat wave!
B: FOTM for another day is Logan.
12:21 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie, The Downy is small – only about 6″. The Hairy Woodpecker is a little larger, maybe robin size. Thee two have similar markings. You have got some beautiful birds, and those are great pictures too. We are still waiting for some variety. Sob.
12:21 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Change of mind: Dima wants to travel to next weekend so he can do a roadtrip in the new huskymobile.
12:21 pm on December 2nd, 2012
If I lived in Victorian England I would start woman’s suffrage sooner than it was started. (I’ve always thought Lysistrata had the best strategy.)
12:24 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Thank you Bear. (I had to figure out FOTM.)
12:25 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I hate acronyms.
12:30 pm on December 2nd, 2012
ditto
12:35 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Fellow Sibers, When you have time, we want to see pictures of the new Huskymobile.
12:41 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Eleanor Roosevelt was mentioned as a person of interest. There is a movie coming out that Barb wants to see titled Hyde Park. It is a period piece about the Rosevelts entertaining the King of England just before WWII started. Joseph Kennedy was in Europe and he was opposed to the US getting into the war. His stand was not very popular.
Barb also would like to travel back to early United States before the white man encroached. Perhaps to live with one of the plains tribes.
12:43 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I like a lot of the time travel ideas, but I think I will go with BearSpiritDog.
Not sure about the cream underside. Will have to catch another look when it comes back.
We’re about to go for the walk/run!
BBL (just for B.Stover and Siber-H)
12:46 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Hey everyone. It is rocking and rolling time here at Auction Central. We are smoking, and I don’t mean just the hot wings! Bids are starting to roll in and do we have some hot competition for a number of items, including Mystery Item # 1. Since I’ve sworn myself to secrecy about the contents of that mysterious package, all I can say is that it is as good if not better than the previous five. Not to imply that I may have taken a peek at anything I may have managed to procure. But time for the auction to end is starting to draw near, so all of your bidders out there, sharpen your pencils and keep those bids coming.
Wookie
1:31 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Barb&MagPie, It’s a female Downy. Saw it when I went out to fill the feeder again. No red on the head and about 6 inches.
Walk/run was canceled. Patsy and I went for a walk down the block. Saw 3 neighbors.
A favorite Christmas CD of mine is “A Wild Christmas” Bernie Krause & Phil Aaberg. I got this over 15 years ago. All of the music and sounds are made from animals. In some cases you can not tell.
I tried to find a video of one of the songs. No luck.
But if you go to this link, https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/silent-night/id368705213?i=368705356 , you can hover your mouse over the title and then hit play for an idea of what it sounds like.
Enjoy while bidding!
2:13 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I wonder if Rio is helping his friend put up Christmas decorations? I hope he hasn’t wrapped a string of lights around Beau to make his own personal lightening pug.
Wookie: A special delivery of home-stretch-slim-jims is being delivered for the last hour of the auction.
2:46 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Sorry, B & Siber-H. We believed FOTM (Friend-Of-The-Month) to be the one acronym we all recognized.
This has been a Fabulous Auction! Cannot wait to see the results.
2:55 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Just seventy minutes left to Auction 2012!! Don’t wait to the last minute to get your bids in. If they are restocking the hot wings at 4:00 pm, I could get distracted and miss a bid. Wouldn’t want that to happen, so just get your bids in ASAP.
(munch and crunch) Wookie
3:04 pm on December 2nd, 2012
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY
GREASE YOUR KEYBOARD
AND REV YOUR COMPUTER
IT’S TIME TO END THIS AUCTION WITH A BANG!
3:12 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Bear, I do recognize FOTM and I also realize that when Melanie is talking about her family, it is much easier for her to use YSAS or one of the other ones. Acronyms are sometimes useful. Typing everything out can wear a person or a dog down.
3:15 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Hmm, does anyone know of a site that I can get a tee shirt made that says “My dog ate YOUR homework”?
I’ve tried to find that specific tee shirt, but I think I’m going to have to go with one that is ordered especially.
This is for my sister. A teacher.
3:25 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Yeep!…Some of youse out there are trying to keep me from getting what I want!…grunt!
3:30 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Yeep! Just thirty minutes left of the auction. I hope Wookie has enough provisions between now and the end of the auction.
3:37 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Food!…I think I may have to go check and see if there is any more beer left…snort!
3:42 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie, your pictures are terrific!
Logan, your cute little face will be missed!
Heading over to Auction Central…
3:44 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Rose!…Go Rose Go!….woooooo!…Get that special item no matter what!…snort!
3:48 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Hmm, I have seen a certain picture on Desktop saver that I want. Of course, I can’t find it in the 8,500 photos that I have. sigh
3:48 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Tick tock tick tock
3:55 pm on December 2nd, 2012
If there were a wire, we’d be down to it!
3:56 pm on December 2nd, 2012
This is fun.
3:57 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Breathe, Mom, breathe.
4:02 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Whew. Done. Hope we raised lots of money for Snowhook.
Everyone that won are going to receive some great things!
4:02 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Closed!…The Auction has officially closed…wheeze!…Now we will let the dust settle and tally up the winners….heh!heh!…Hope I got the one or two things I really …chuffle!
4:04 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Most importantly, how much was collected for Snowhook?
4:07 pm on December 2nd, 2012
That’s right, we are officially closed. What a last few minutes. Final results on each item will be posted in a bit, but the grand total is . . . (drum roll please) . . . $1484.00. Woo! Woo! Way to go, youse guys and gals.
Wookie (munching on the very last of the hot wings)
4:07 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Woo hooo!
Can’t wait to hear who the auction winners are.
Show is slowly winding down. We wish we had sold it ALL and didn’t have anything left to pack.
(That actually happened at one show a long long time ago)
4:09 pm on December 2nd, 2012
$1484 is awesome! Awoooo!
4:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Heh, heh, heh
4:13 pm on December 2nd, 2012
My Two-Legged in on the floor. She took one look at the total and down she went. I’m feeling up a bucket with water to toss on her if she doesn’t come to soon. Until the, I’m twirling, I’m twirling.
My Four-Legged says it would be bad manners not to tell you again how much we appreciate your support of the Kennel. Thank you to thos who donated items, bid, were out bid, bid again, wanted to bid, and Auction Central.
4:14 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Auction!…I’m sure Rebecca and AJ will be very happy with the Auction results…snort!…Thats a lot of moolaah to raise in such a short time!…chuffle!….Thank you to everyone who participated. And thank you so much to all the guys and gals who donated the awesome Items….snorkel!
Spencer!…Wow!…Check out the final amount that was bid for the Autographed first chapter of the next book (that is still being writen)!!…WoooooooOOOOOOOooooOOOOO!…What an amazing thing for some lucky (and broke) winner!….yipppeee!
4:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012
We did good!! $1484.00!!!!
Thank you Rio and Wookie for doing such a fine job of running Auction Central.
4:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Sputter! You’ve really outdone yourself with the items for the auction, so much so, no one could resist. Wow!
I wonder if Rio and Beau were bidding against each other.
4:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Congratulations to all the Top Bidders!!!
Go Snowhook!!!
4:22 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Thank all of you that donated the auction items. I wanted to bid on many more than what I did, but she who is no fun said I couldn’t get carried away.
4:27 pm on December 2nd, 2012
And may I also add my appreciation to the talents at Auction Central: The esteemed 00Wookie and Riö the Evil(Good)Pug for lending their time to this great cause.
4:32 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Masquers: Here, here!
4:32 pm on December 2nd, 2012
The items up for auction were so very fabulous, it was difficult to focus in near the end, so we could bid enough on what we really wanted. Thank you to all who donated, for both your creativity, and your selflessness. And special thanks to Rio and Wookie!
4:41 pm on December 2nd, 2012
From the looks of it, Wookie worked up quite an appetite during the last hour of the auction. I think he’s managed to secure promises of food and treaties with each notification to the winners. Well deserved, in my opinion.
5:08 pm on December 2nd, 2012
We here hope all your auction dreams came true. Can’t wait to hear who won what.
5:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I didn’t win anything. Grump! My Two-Legged said I had to bid to win. Sometimes I don’t understand her logic.
5:11 pm on December 2nd, 2012
And, the Winner is…Snowhook!!!
5:11 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Whooohoooo!
I love these auctions. Thank you to all who donated such beautiful and fun items, congratulations to the winner of the TOP SECRET item (kind of secret), thank you to Agents 00Wookie, and Agent Rio for their very fine work at Auction Central, and congratulations to Snowhook!
5:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Belle, It’s sort of the same logic as buying a lottery ticket.
Going over to check out the final prices. That was an awesome amount of money. Thanks to everyone who contributed their time and efforts.
5:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012
We won 3 great items!!!!! YAY! We won the Iditarod autographed documentary movie. We won the dually-autographed Born to Run book. And we won the Who Rules My House T-shirt, which stupid Buddy and T.C. mistakenly think is all about them. heh heh
5:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012

5:27 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I was high bidder on Stories from Grimm and Sprites Dance. Yes!
5:30 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Whooo Hoooo! I had company and couldn’t get back until the auction was over. I am so so glad that I won one of my items. I was sure someone would have made another bid on it.
I missed the K-9 Ration book though. I have been (very gently)reading it and I think whoever outbid me will really like it.
I am jealous of whoever got the Born to Run book and the Iditarod DVD. I started out bidding on those but couldn’t keep up with all that I wanted to win. sniff.
5:31 pm on December 2nd, 2012
oh! Oley Howlers won both of those two items. Youse guys will really like them I am SURE! I started out bidding on that tee shirt too! heh.
5:34 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Thanks Rio and Wookie. Job well done!
I’m ready to send my check to Snowhook tomorrow for the two items I won (out of four I bid on) and, of course, will send the item I donated to the auction to the lucky person that won.
Another -35 day up here (-36 actually, I swear I live in a sink hole). My skin is so dry. I’m thinking that I at least need to get a humidifier for the bedroom. I went to the grocery store to buy more Kleenix. Spent $234, came home and discovered that I had forgotten to buy Kleenix. These senior moments are inconvenient.
5:39 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Who won YSAS’ photo?
5:39 pm on December 2nd, 2012
CHH: My skin has been so dry, too. Last week, my hands cracked each time I made a fist, leaving me with several scabs. Ouch! I have been using body butter since I returned home. My hands feel so much better.
B&M: The is the step I keep forgetting in my quest to win the lottery. Like the Race, you must pay to play.
5:40 pm on December 2nd, 2012
B.Stover! We thought we were going to get the Stories from Grimm item, but you outbid us at the end. We thought it would be a great addition to the Christmas gift we are giving at the family white elephant exchange. We had bought the 2 antique needlepoint pillows at the last auction. But how cool that a college professor also liked what we thought was really neat.
OleyHowlers, we are very jealous that you won the autographed book. We were bidding on that too!
Who won the Snowhook blanket?
5:42 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I won Jasper’s color quilt and the sled dog sign. The quilt will be mom’s Christmas present from me, but the sled dog sign is MINE.
5:47 pm on December 2nd, 2012
SiberH’s New Sign: Don’t let this happen to you.
5:47 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Siber, we are very glad you won the sign. We were bidding on that too, in the beginning. In the end, we had to narrow down our items because everything was going so high.
Rose, you did get the SK, didn’t you? heh heh! We wanted you to have it, but we also wanted Snowhook to get the most $$ for it. If you won it, it will be great at the Iditarod, with Snowhook’s logo.
5:48 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Sorry Gus and BooBear. The book is 104 years old! I don’t own a book that is that old.
Good going Siber H.
5:51 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Lefty, That is funny!
Thank you Fellow Sibers. I also had to narrow down the items I was bidding on.
5:55 pm on December 2nd, 2012
SiberH: The sign didn’t taste as well as I hoped, but there are somethings you do just to say you did it—like climbing Everest.
6:03 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Or running the Iditarod?
6:05 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Ooooo Siber, I am so happy that you won the sign!
6:06 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Howlers: Yup. I like to eat things I shouldn’t almost as much as I like to run. When do you pick up your new Howlabaru?
6:09 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Howlabaru! heh heh We love that! We pick it up tomorrow night, which the rents say is 5 years from now
6:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Okay. Who are the rest of the Plunderers celebrating victory?
6:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Howlsabout a …. Sibaru?
6:11 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Clarkson!…I spent every penny I had but I got the poster of Clarkson!….WoooooHoooo! Wheeeee!…Oh and I got the Salt and Pepper shakers for my friend for Christmas…snort!….Imagine her delight when she opens up her gift and finds two more pugs …heh!heh!
6:16 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Kat: Very clever!
Rio: I bet all of Beau’s treat money you spent was worth it. YSAS is a rising star! I am so glad you ended with the pug shakers for your friend. Now, she has two pairs of pug movers and shakers.
6:17 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Who won the Top Not So Secret project? Is it really the whole first chapter? Do we know the name of the book yet?
6:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Wookie!…He even tried to beg treats off of me!…snort!…((right!))
6:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Commander Riö! Well done.
6:20 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I am busy making sure My Lady doesn’t float away. It is serious business, but I think if I rest my head on her lap just right, I can keep her in place.
6:24 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Who won Golinka’s pot? We were bidding on that, and we wanted to use it as our sugar bowl at our little coffee station. That pot is very nice.
6:25 pm on December 2nd, 2012
B, it is very cool that it is that old and that it is a first edition. Mom has a couple of really old books like that. She and 1 of her sisters are kind of antique nuts.
Still curious to know who got the Snowhook blanket.
6:27 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Thank you all for the wonderful work that everyone put in to the auction. Be you artist, supplier, AC worker (before and during), bidder or winner, a great job.
Now to explain to the Newf Pack that Zoë and I have used their ENTIRE treat budget for next year.
(whispering . . does anyone know how to make road kill jerky?)
6:28 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Rio: I’m glad you got the photo.
6:29 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Siber-H, congratulations on your win!
Rio, your friend will love those pug salt and pepper shakers. Where will you be putting YSAS picture? Autographed too!
Oleys, yes, I did win the SK! It will be way cool wearing it to the Iditarod. Oh, and like AJ, I love black too! I also won the Plunderers sign, and the Jasper tested Christmas quilt. It was a tough fight for Item # 1, but congratulations to the new owner! Youse guys picked up some cool swag too.
6:30 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Oh, Melanie! We forgot to say a big special thanks to you for your photo magic! You did such a great job on every item in the auction!
(Whispering) What did you spend the Newfs’ treats budget on?
6:34 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Hmm, OleyHowlers, that’s a top secret.
6:34 pm on December 2nd, 2012
My Lady says the auction wouldn’t go as well without the auction catalog supplied by Melanie. How else would folks know what they’re bidding on without primped and wonderfluffed pictures?
6:35 pm on December 2nd, 2012
B.Stover, congratulations on the BOOK!
Riö, congratulations on the POSTER! Please check SDD.
6:36 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I’m not sure of the winner of the Snowhook blanket. It isn’t a Plunderer or a name I recognize.
6:37 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Woooo!!!!! Melanie, lucky lucky lucky (broke) you!
6:38 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie: I wouldn’t want to go toe to paw with nine newfs who are being denied their treat budget, but I suppose you bid knowing the risk. You deserve to treat yourself once in a while!
6:42 pm on December 2nd, 2012
AWOOOOO!!!!! OMD!!!! Cherokee won the Snowhook blankie! Unbelievable, especially because when he was here for Sasha’s birthday party, his mom (Kat’s Godmom) baked into Mom’s mounting block and ended up having her car towed. There was no major damage, but still cost $$ at the mechanic’s.
Cherokee really needs that blankie too. He has very bad health issues, including cancer, a tumor, bad kidneys, and hurt back. All this, after finally being single-handedly rescued from a life of being chained to a dog house 24×7 even in frigid cold, with nobody caring that his water was frozen. We are very happy he can be wrapped up in that beeautiful blanket.
6:43 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie, you are one tough bidder. Good for you!
6:45 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Oleys, that is great that your friend Cherokee won the Snowhook Blanket!
Whooooohoooooo,
6:45 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Cherokee is a friend of the Kennel! I had no idea of the human behind Cherokee. Orion, my guy making sure I don’t float away, is also a resuce. I hope this blanket only brings good things for Cherokee.
6:48 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie!…Wooo Hooo!…What a great thing to own! Wow!…I have checked my SDD and I have seen fit to reply..heh!
6:53 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Did you consult the Pack about spending their annual treat budget on one item, or are you planning to ask forgiveness rather than permission?
6:54 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Melanie & Wose: WoooHooos to youse. Big wins!
O.Howlers: The Book and the DVD. Woozer!
We didn’t win anything, but are happy knowing our friends came away with some Big prizes.
6:54 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I hope, hope, hope the shew was as successful for the Royals’ parents as the auction was for Snowhook!
6:57 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Poor Cherokee. I am glad he is in his Forever Home. The blanket will act as part of our quilt!
6:59 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Great news about Cherokee and the snuggly blankie! May it bring him Comfort and Healing.
6:59 pm on December 2nd, 2012
SnowBella, we are going for forgiveness. Don’t know if we’ll get it, but we KNEW we wouldn’t get their permission!
6:59 pm on December 2nd, 2012
We can’t think of anyone or dog more deserving of the Snowhook blanket than Cherokee! Yeah for him!
And congrats to Melanie! Sometimes in life, one must just say “What the hey! I’m going for it!” And you deserve a little splurge. We’re sure the newfs will understand.
It sounds like everyone that won got things that they really want and are happy, happy to get. We have to say that, although it is a fundraiser for Snowhook with the hopes of raising lots of money for the big race, it was fun having some things that weren’t so expensive that we couldn’t have fun bidding on them.
7:01 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Wose, I was cheering for you to win the hat because you are going to need it. I say this not to worry you. You will be all toasty warm with the hat.
Rio, I am glad you won the poster of YSAS. You are his number one fan on the blog.
Super happy to hear Cherokee won the blanket. I am glad I stopped bidding on that item.
7:02 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Thanks everyone for all of your kind comments, but it is really just for a great cause — Snowhook. I’m kind of blushing now which is actually pretty hard for a golden to do. And the secret can be let out that it is actually kind of fun working at AC (particularly as long as the Slim Jims and wings hold out).
I even won two items myself — the autographed copy of White Wings and the Plunderer T-shirt (it’s not pink but I still think I will look rather dashing in it).

For all youse that missed out on your bids, you can probably mosey on over to the mercantile store and pick up some items. Perhaps some new things since you last looked.

My Mechanical Engineer Nephew is really into bikes. His best friend did the following youtube video of his Christmas decoration. The song is funny. I’ve never heard of them. But as Golinka would say, “You don’t know (fill in the blank)?” in a sarcastic tone.

Falling asleep here. Waiting for some pics from YSAS to download. He took pictures of the NYC Christmas windows for Zoë and me.
I’ll put some up tomorrow!

We’re back, because our friend Cherokee just sent us this picture of him and his little friend Sandy with Santa. How cute are they!

8:23 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Howlers!…Great Santa photo!…snort!…That is the only photo I would sit still for I think. One with Santa…wheeze!

Melanie: Great voices on that video, also very funny.
Every time I think of Straight No Chaser, the great Thelonious Monk comes to mind.

O.Howlers: That is one cool photo of Cherokee and Friend with Santa! Nice to see the Lucky Dog who won the Snowhook Blanket.

9:09 pm on December 2nd, 2012
No Rio, don’t bother yourself to upload any more photos. You’ve worked so hard on the auction, just take a rest. You can do it tomorrow.

When the smoke cleared I still had high bid on the Hmong handbag! Hooray! Rio edged me out on Clarkson…
Congratulations to all! especially Melanie and Zoe. Lucky duckies!
9:21 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I, Staff, won the Plunder Pot! She is going to fill it with Kat treats and Maggie will use it to give treats to Alice and Abbie. It will make a multi-layered memory for me for later on.
9:22 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Dawson!…Usually you get what you want no matter what!…snort!…You sort of dropped the Clarkson ball today, didn’t you?….wheeze!
9:25 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Staff!…That is especially nice that you got the beautiful pot…snort!…One day I, Rio, hope to own a Golinka pot…heh!…I have to start saving my pennies again..grunt!
9:30 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Staff! That is indeed a prize you will soon have in your pawsession. I know Alice & Abbie will be making certain it is filled with the a-fore-mentioned kat treats at all times.
9:33 pm on December 2nd, 2012
3 items remaining to be accounted for: the K-9 Nation cookbook, the Mugs & Spoons and the I Vote Pug water bottle.
9:38 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I must have missed this on the blog, but who won the top secret psackage?
9:42 pm on December 2nd, 2012
SiberH!…Forget words, he must read every other post…heh!heh!…SiberH, Melanie and Zoe are the proud owners of the Top Secret item. You do know what it is by now, right??..grunt!
9:42 pm on December 2nd, 2012
I tried uploading my photo for Friends of Chet, but I don’t know if it worked. I am wearing my dog jacket with my Chet the Dog patch.
SiberH: Melanie beat out everyone for the Top Secret package!
9:46 pm on December 2nd, 2012
WOW! Thanks, Rio and Orion, Melanie and Zoe won!! Good for both of them! This makes me a happy Husky.
9:46 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Wolfie: Are you there? I’m thinking of you on this here blog.
9:47 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Orion!…Pal, have you heard any reports on how the training runs are going for AJ and the A-Team?…snort!…Any inside information on the team you can give us would be appreciated…grunt!
9:55 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Rio: I am proud to say Junior unexpectedly in lead along side Gomez last night. While doing a training run, the old gangline broke. The two lead dogs and the two swing dogs behind took off with a flash. AJ was left with a team without a front end. Think of it as an unguided missle. Without missing a beat, Gomez and Junior assumed the lead postion and brough the team home along with a very worrit AJ. I’m not sure why he was worried. My Lady took me outside. While she was waiting for me do my you-know-whats, she heard the breath of some dogs and the sound of paws on snow coming up the driveway. Running in perfect formation, the front end was running in perfect formation straight towards her.
9:58 pm on December 2nd, 2012
OH!…Oh!…snort!…Oh!
10:04 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Watch out!
Junior and Gomez, taking the lead.
10:06 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Wolfie must be getting all that rain in Northern CA.
Wolfie, Are you okay?
10:14 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Sometimes the best way to do something you have done before is to no know you’re doing it. My Lady was very proud of me and gave me extra loves. I knew I had it, what ever that is, in me all the time—I think I get it from my pug side of the family.
10:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Junior!…heh!snort!heh!…Just you remember your Pug side is very stubborn and insistant…sniff!…Stubborn as hell actually!….heh!…but we always keep our sense of humor about us even in tough times….chorkel!
10:19 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Gah! The first sentence should read: sometimes the best way to do something you have NOT done before is to NOT know you’re doing it.
10:26 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Junior!…heh!snort!…Me and my friend live by your motto every day practically…snort!…She has a job she does not understand and she has a hobby she is still learning and I just fly by the wind from my farts hither and nither…heh!
10:27 pm on December 2nd, 2012
My Lady thinks my sense of humor and eyebrows are my strong points. I tend to agree with the first point, and will likely agree with the second point once I figure out what eyebrows are.
10:35 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Rio: Maybe you get that motto from your sled dog side.
10:35 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Junior!…I can’t wait till my friend Rose gets to take some awesome photos of you and sends them directly to my mailbox…heh!heh!…Once I get a look at your eyebrows, I will tell you what to do…sniff!
10:36 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Orion, don’t bother yourself about the uploads. Just rest. Tomorrow will be better.
10:46 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Rio: I will wait for further instruction about my eyebrows.
Sam: I relayed your message to Orion. He thinks you might be up to something.
10:49 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Sammy, Sammy, Sammy …. shamey, shamey, shamey
11:10 pm on December 2nd, 2012
My oh my oh my what a weekend!
We started with twirling when we knew that the Howlers got their coffee mugs and liked them.
Then we were snorting and grumbling about only having two hours to set up at the Lovesick Producer Show
Then we were twirling because as soon as the show opened, we sold a pot.
Then we were yeeping, because that was the first, last and only sale of the day.
Then we were thinking Pawsitive thoughts for Saturday.
Then we were splorting because for the second day in a row, no one came to the show.
Then we were twirling because the auction was going so well.
Then we REALLY started twirling, because suddenly, the crowd showed up at the show, and were doing their impersonation of a hoard of locusts – buying up everything in their paths. After selling three, count’em THREE pots in a row, we were too stunned to even twirl anymore. Just did our impression of happy pugs, and sat around with silly grins on our faces.
And now – we are getting ready to crawl into our nice, warm, snuggly bed, even without the baseball toys – there’s no place like home.
Congratulations to all the winners.
Melanie – we WILL be remembering our lessons about sharing, right?
Good night Dear Plunderers, and thanks for making lots of dreams come true!
11:20 pm on December 2nd, 2012
Wow!…Thats a lot of “Thens” all in a row…heh!heh!
11:25 pm on December 2nd, 2012
All is well that thens well.
6:57 am on December 3rd, 2012
We are happy that we stopped bidding on the pot. We love the many layers of memories it will hold for Staff.
