Last Night at the Poisoned Pen
“Hope the livestreaming last night was glitch free,” Spence says on the phone.
“Glitch free?” says Admin on the other end. “Life is a series of glitches.”
“Oh.”
Welcome Teddy the Shorkie, biker dudes, Cruizer from AZ.

First here too, woo hoo!!
Mom is off to celebrate g’ma’s bd. Happy 78 to her!
Later, pups
9:36 am on September 25th, 2013
Well, it was not glitch free for us, but totally our fault. We found the live feed, but then discovered that our speakers were not hooked up. So we could see Spence, but could not hear him. Did someone say that there is a way to still go back and see it?
Morning all!
9:53 am on September 25th, 2013
Macy was up top in her Christmas bandana.
Melanie, will keep you in our thoughts today.
Going out back to fill in the hole that LuLu dug, before someone breaks an ankle in it.
Beautiful fall day here. Cool, crisp and sunny.
9:56 am on September 25th, 2013
I haven’t watched it yet.
Good morning all.
10:03 am on September 25th, 2013
Good morning! We loved watching Spencer on that livestream. It is still available so you can still watch it, Barb and Maggie. We watched the first 15 minutes this morning, because we tuned in late last night.
10:17 am on September 25th, 2013
Mom missed the live stream too. She had dinner with a friend and by the time she got home, she was too tired to do much but get comfy and then out like a light! She will try to watch it tonight.
Good morning, everyone!
10:18 am on September 25th, 2013
Morning to you all. Sitting in a waiting room – waiting.
This is not one of our best skills.
((((((sigh))))))
Happy Birthday to Macy’s Mom’s Maw. (Glad we were typing that, not verbalizing it.
10:35 am on September 25th, 2013
Wonder how Princess Sammie and LouLou are doing. Hopefully, the princess has gotten the upstart well under paw!
10:51 am on September 25th, 2013
I didn’t have any technical problems with the livestream.
When Spence spoke here in Albuquerque, he mentioned the quilt, the blog, and the Plunderers. He introduced mom as one of the Plunderers.
Barb, Mom won’t let anyone except her go in our backyard because of my holes. I really do need to get some of those orange cones. She tripped in one of my holes a few nights ago.
10:55 am on September 25th, 2013
Great live stream event last night!!! It was just like being in the audience. Since the signing at our bookshop was just that, a signing, we we able, at least virtually, to be a part of the question and answer session too (unfortunately no stress ball).
Thanks, Spence, for a very interesting talk with lots of new stuff.
I am certain you were just about to say how much the Plunderers mean to you when you were abruptly cut off.
10:58 am on September 25th, 2013
Siber, We can’t tell you the number of times Mom has fallen on her face because she tripped into one of our holes, while walking thru our yard in the dark to get horses. We sort of feel bad, but hey! That is the chance you take when you walk thru construction zones.
11:09 am on September 25th, 2013
Good Morning Everyone.
Hey! Look to the right…the Live-Stream Broadcast is available today…WoooHooo!!!
11:10 am on September 25th, 2013
Howlers: Could you please post the address you used to get the Poison Pen event. For some reason I can’t find it.

Sock humor.

11:19 am on September 25th, 2013
Fellow Sibers, Maybe we could get some orange cones at a discount somewhere online.
11:30 am on September 25th, 2013
Siber, When our mom sees orange cones, she thinks they are for her and Annie’s obstacle course. Perhaps we need flashing lights for her?
11:31 am on September 25th, 2013
Masquers, We love that cartoon! If only….
11:32 am on September 25th, 2013
I totally agree with Admin’s statement!
I will be watching the not-live feed today. Also I will be watching some of The America’s Cup. My day is planned.
This morning was communications central here. Between texts, emails and phone calls, I finally stopped answering anything to get dressed. It was cold!
Monday morning is the biopsy. 8 am on the East coast. I have to be there at 6:30. Yuck.
I will soon be going out to sit with the Pack in the sunlight.
Good morning to all of you.
11:54 am on September 25th, 2013
See what I miss justby going away for a couple days. When will I find the time to listen to this? Well, I reckon I’ll have to find it somewhere. Jasper suggests I look under the bed. Or else maybe that’s me suggesting that, because that’s where most lost things end up. Including Jasper. Also, as for doggie construction sites, Ifeel blessed that walking around at night doesn’t pose any additional risks or challenges. And that’s all I got to ay about that.
12:17 pm on September 25th, 2013
Buddy and Leno, I have always believed that Siber-H was responsible for the Grand Canyon. And Howdy!
12:17 pm on September 25th, 2013
My friend Faye had an adventure at her farm yesterday. Went home and the place was surrounded by police and state patrol and helicopters. They didn’t want to let her in until she told them her husband was home and in a wheelchair. They let her in and she called us at the quilt store where we were quilting late.
Two guys stole a camper in Thief River Falls and it stopped, I bet it ran out of gas, on the paved road above Faye’s farm. They were spotted walking down the gravel road that leads to Faye’s farm. The police chased them into the cornfield and then spent the rest of the day trying to get them out. Caught one and the other was still at large when they quit looking at 10 p.m.
I would have been spastic.
Then this morning the news is he stole a riding mower and drove it to a farm and traded it for a car that had the keys in it and drove that to the Clifford area. That is MY area.
I went out and took the key out of Mr.Staff’s van. I do not keep the keys in mine. There is a 30 acre woods behind my house. It is behind my garden. I would hide there if I had too. There are very few places like that woods around here. Yowser!
12:22 pm on September 25th, 2013
Staff: Yeep!
12:23 pm on September 25th, 2013
Staff! YEEP!!!!! Hide under the bed!
12:27 pm on September 25th, 2013
STAFF: GAH and YEEP!! Please be careful out there!
12:35 pm on September 25th, 2013
He is not considered armed or dangerous… But I made Mr.Staff lock all the doors.
12:46 pm on September 25th, 2013
Gooood something, everyone! Running late because it is old fart discount day at pet store and grocery. STAFF:” Good to lock, better safe than soggy.
MACY: Great b-day to G’ma. RIO: Remember the encrypted message from Hotlanta. SIBER and OH: Mom usually falls on her donkey when she finds our excavations. BUDDY: Welcome back. MELANIE: Stop planning. Spend several days :in the moment”. The world will continue š Now we will trip, er, help mom with all the purchases.
12:47 pm on September 25th, 2013
GAH!! SoRRy, not Soggy. We really seem to like the “g” key.
12:47 pm on September 25th, 2013
Thank you Howlers. That was fun. (And Charlie loved it!) I liked the part about the “Free Iggy Movement.”
1:06 pm on September 25th, 2013
First, Staff, wow…edge of your seat drama action at your house.
1:10 pm on September 25th, 2013
We are back, but going to shut down for a bit so Jessica can put in some new electrical stuff and the speakers.
Staff, let us know when the coast is clear. Otherwise stay inside!
Melanie, when do you find out the results? Waiting is the worst part.
HOH, this is a dumb question but what is Hotlanta? Is that your nick-name for Atlanta, and if so, why?
1:10 pm on September 25th, 2013
First, Staff, wow…edge of your seat drama action at your house. Also, I really hate trackpads, I accidentally touched mine and sent a comment early. Anyway, hope they find him, and not in your basement or something. Second, hey, I got this postcard from. … Tupper? … on the blog. How cool is that, thanks! I guess it showed up on Monday, but Melanie only just spotted it today. Well, she just told me about it today. She was wondering what Alena was reading about Chet. We were amused. So much for the net being anonymous, but it’s not like i go out of my way to be very anonymous, as you see, I’m very easy to find. š Just thought it was cool that someone from the blog sent us a postcard.
But speaking of Internet anonymity, anyone remember the comic strip from a zillion years ago that says “On the Internet, no one knows you’re a dog”? Clearly, that was way before this, because everyone knows here. Right? LOL
1:16 pm on September 25th, 2013
Barb: Because it’s hot in Atlanta.
1:20 pm on September 25th, 2013
Staff, YARK You guys be careful. Wish we could send Chet to do guard duty for you.
Melanie, Do you mean all the way to the East coast of MA?
1:27 pm on September 25th, 2013
Buddy and Leno, We said a couple of years ago that Spence knows real dogs and kats post here, but he could not admit that in public because they would put him away.
1:43 pm on September 25th, 2013
Siber-H: LOL
3:17 pm on September 25th, 2013
B: Thanks for letting B&M in on the “Hotlanta” thing. Buddy: Tupper and Gilly spent over a week at the beach with their people, Golinks and the Storyteller. They are two of the nicest people in the whole wide world. Just dont cross her in a medical facility š
3:29 pm on September 25th, 2013
Staff, throw Abbie with one hand and Alice with the other. That would keep anyone one away from you. Of course, Alice might not talk to you for months.
Loved the non-live feed. Especially Spence’s view that Chet has a reset button.
Snicker
Outside with the Pack was great. Barking at cars. Barking at cyclists. Barking at trucks. Barking at the dogs down the street that had started barking at their barking. A great time was had by all. I dozed.
Made some corn chowder.
For me? A lazy day.
3:31 pm on September 25th, 2013
Siber-H, hmm. I meant timezone. Brain had not kicked in at that point.
3:39 pm on September 25th, 2013
A guy came here to clean our pellet stove. He told us he was in heaven when he saw our Howling Arabians sign, and then when he saw us us us!! He loves us. Turns out he used to work at a wolf sanctuary in New Hampshire. Pretty cool, huh?
Mom has never ordered a personalized autographed C&B book from one of those bookstores, although Buddy did win an autographed copy of TFAT. The main reason she has never ordered an autographed/pawtographed book for us is that she does not know what to request Spencer write in it. There is one book signing still to come, in Connecticut, and she was all set to call and order, but what to have him write to us?
3:40 pm on September 25th, 2013
ok, good Melanie. It isn’t as far as I imagined.
3:43 pm on September 25th, 2013
Melanie: Lazy-day and Chowder…both good.
3:46 pm on September 25th, 2013
O’Howlers: How about…to the O’Howlers.
4:11 pm on September 25th, 2013
heh heh! We thought of that, but we were hoping for something unique. Like maybe how Dima is Chet’s twin, because they are both so brave and ferocious and scary. heh heh
4:18 pm on September 25th, 2013
OH: OFA will write whatever you request. We just got: To Sharon and the HOH, Spencer Quinn. That book goes on a special shelf and the unadorned one is readable and loanable.
4:27 pm on September 25th, 2013
Howlers!…He wrote “See you next time” in my book…sob!sob!sob!
4:33 pm on September 25th, 2013
Riƶ: What did we tell you? OFA would never forget he who is the heart of this here blog.
On another note…beginning tonight there will be a 61 episode marathon of Breaking Bad for anyone who is interested…thankfully it can be recorded.
4:39 pm on September 25th, 2013
Masquers, It can’t be recorded if you don’t have a recorder. We should buy the complete series when it comes out on DVD,
Fellow Sibers, You could have Spence write “To my favorite Siberians in the Eastern time zone.” I am his favorite Siberian in the Southwest.
4:46 pm on September 25th, 2013
How about if we have Spence write “I promise to viset S.E. PA very very soon.”
4:47 pm on September 25th, 2013
oops visit.
4:51 pm on September 25th, 2013
Mom is back from the Birthday Extravaganza. First she went to Michaels and got some flowers, then G-ma. Their first stop was the cemetery to take g-pa the flowers. There were so many flowers out there and g-ma really was happy that we had some to leave too. Then they went to a deli, and I hear mom had a boring old baked potato (note from mom, not boring bacony) and the b-day girl had a fancy lettuce salad with fruit and candied pecans. Next, off to see the Wizard, which she was very happy about. Afterwards, they stopped in at a fancy-smancy treat place where they got some things for ME ME ME (and the others I guess). Topped off with a fancy cupcake place where g-ma had a spice cupcake with apple pie filling and salted caramel frosting and glitter. Oh and a balloon pick. A nice drive through about a mile of country and…home. The end. Except when she got home Grandson was baking brownies. She groaned and told him it would be a while before she was ready for round two.
4:59 pm on September 25th, 2013
Sounds like a fantastic b-day for anyone! (Who wants a $400 clown? They’re creepy š )
5:01 pm on September 25th, 2013
Still peaceful at the farm.
Meanwhile I am trying to pack for a 4 day quilting marathon with a friend. Between us we have 6 classes and of course the show. Oh it is going to be fun. I hope Mr.Staff is safe here while I am gone. He is of the belief that nothing can happen to him….silly man.
5:04 pm on September 25th, 2013
Siber: Ah, yes the recording dilemma.
5:06 pm on September 25th, 2013
Macy – that sounds like Birthday Heaven. Your Mom did good.
Buddy – we would like to pretend that we are super smart and mysterious, but the simple facts are that the first couple times you posted, you used your last name. And you also mentioned where you lived. It was pretty easy to go back on the blog, get that info and do a people search. But we had to do it – we sent a card to everyone on the blog, and you are now a part of this rather nefarious (sorry, Nattie) group, so you had to get one too.
Today has been a day of frustration and waiting around and learning about new cell phone apps and driving….a lot of driving….
Home now, and home we’re gonna stay. So there!
5:10 pm on September 25th, 2013
OH’s, Mom had SQ sign our book like this.
To BooBear
In memory of Gus
Spencer Quinn and Chet
After she ordered it, she was wishing she had left me off and just had him write “This one’s for you, Gus.”
Either way was okay with me, but I’m glad my name is in the book.
BooBear
5:10 pm on September 25th, 2013
Macy: Her birthday sounds quite festive and satisfying for the tummy too. Happy B-day to Grandma!
5:16 pm on September 25th, 2013
We think that sounds like a wonderful birthday too.
We just listened to the interview and thought it was almost like being there in person. We also think he was going to mention the Plunderers at the end because he said “I forgot to mention that I have a follow…..” What else could it be!
Oleys, We had a hard time deciding on the autograph too. Ended up with “To Barb and Maggie, On to the Iditarod 2014” on Barb’s copy and “To Gus, Joe and Sam, 3 Amigos of Chet” on the one to Kelly. Were going to say something about her dog rescue skills and have it addressed to Kelly, but decided to have it addressed to the 3 black dogs instead.
5:17 pm on September 25th, 2013
BooBear & Mom: Received the good news that my auction package arrived safe and sound today. Great packaging! Thank you so much for making it so easy to gift shop.
5:19 pm on September 25th, 2013
Has anyone heard fro MPM lately?
5:20 pm on September 25th, 2013
For those of you who watched the live stream last night, you saw OFA show the “special edition” of “A Cat Was Involved” which is a taseful way to thank OFA supporters. At least Darah Thea thought it was tasteful…mom caught her with the booklet in her mouth settling in for a good chew! (Lefty, Pancho have you been teaching her tricks?) Mom traded for a nice sausage bite and has booklet back with a few added teeth marks. Can we tell people Chet helped?
5:24 pm on September 25th, 2013
Since my mom and dad missed the Spence’s signing because of work, they were very appreciative of the live-streaming link.
Barb & Maggie: You are right – it was almost as good as being there.
5:39 pm on September 25th, 2013
Having been there, it was ALMOST as good as being there. Spence is a character.
5:42 pm on September 25th, 2013
We here were thinking about MPM too. Hope all is well.
Thanks everyone for the ideas on autographs. Pondering…
5:42 pm on September 25th, 2013
B&M: No, we haven’t heard from MollysMom in a while, but I’m sure little Loulou is keeping her busy. Sammie posted recently and is still not happy with the (interloper) competition.
Since Mom hasn’t had any of the C&B Mysteries signed by Spence to her she said it was about time she did. A Cat Was Involved is for BSD & moi.
6:06 pm on September 25th, 2013
Trigger, glad the package made it okay. Mom always gets a little nervous when shipping anything breakable.

Macy, breathe in, breathe out. Be one with the upload. It will happen. If not, a baseball bat helps š
6:40 pm on September 25th, 2013
You can do it Macy. Remember to remove all those extraneous symbols…Rio always says something like that. I am not sure what it means but just in case I will say it.
6:58 pm on September 25th, 2013
Macy: I feel your frustration. This has happened to moi (many) a few times trying to upload a stand-a-lone photo. Maybe size matters?
7:10 pm on September 25th, 2013
Masquers, now that cracked us up!
7:11 pm on September 25th, 2013
Mom says it’s not the size of the alpha. (But ya’ll saw the foto…she’s a hobbit sized woman, bless her heart!)
7:11 pm on September 25th, 2013
BooBear, yesterday I accidentally played with Loulou for a very brief chase.
7:29 pm on September 25th, 2013
Sam: No one will tell if you don’t, besides, she will never learn if you don’t
7:29 pm on September 25th, 2013
Sammie!…It’s all over now. Lil’ LuLu thinks you are her pal…heh!heh!…One chase is all it takes. I chased Beau out of the bedroom when he firs arrived and he thought I was being his best pal…grump!
7:34 pm on September 25th, 2013
The corn chowder was a success!
Now some down time.
Staff, this man you speak of does he have burnt slippers? snicker
Macy, hope the picture uploads.
Princess Sam, be careful. It starts accidentally and then bang. You’re best friends.
7:36 pm on September 25th, 2013
Melanie!…Burnt slippers!…Funny!…snort!
7:37 pm on September 25th, 2013
Right! Now Molly’s Mom is bringing Loulou over again tomorrow.
Molly’s Mom is following the blog and was going to post today but today was another doctor’s visit. She’s having balance problems and has to make an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow.
7:47 pm on September 25th, 2013
Woo Hooo! Cheap travel score! We have to share this with all our friends who may or may not be traveling to places near and far.
If you are going to stay at a Sheraton Hotel, ask for the “Pay Your Birthday Rate”. This rate is only available to people who call in and ask for it – they will not offer it to you if you ask what their best rate is. The way it works is that you pay $199.00 for your first night, and then you pay an amount that is the same as the last two digits of your birth year for the next (up to 4) nights. Their example was that if you were born in 1984, you would only pay $84 a night for your subsequent nights. We grabbed the reservation, and then the very young sounding, bright and perky customer service person asked what the birth year was, noting that it would have to be verified upon check in. We used the Storyteller’s birth year since he is older. There was a stunned silence on the other end of the phone. Then a gulp. Then this bright and perky young person said she had never made a sale of a $35. a night room before.
heh heh heh.
Can we shop, or can we?
7:48 pm on September 25th, 2013
Sammie, Please tell Molly’s Mom I am sending good thoughts her way.
7:50 pm on September 25th, 2013
Royal Mum: You are a shopper extraordinaire!!!
8:12 pm on September 25th, 2013
Golinka knows how to sniff out a bargain. That’s for sure.
MPM, Kat is worried about you, and wants to visit. She does not feel that young upstart will re-balance you.

Fibbing!…Someone on this blog is fibbing because I have not received a postcard from anywhere…sniff!
8:34 pm on September 25th, 2013
Rio – it may or may not have been addressed to your friend – do you think maybe she is hiding it under your baseball toys?
8:43 pm on September 25th, 2013
TuppersMaw!…No!
SiberH!…Did you just watch the amazing Todd Helton tribute?…snort!…I sure hope you did. My home town was mentioned…heh!heh!…Now we have to walk before it gets dark – but it will be a short’un…sniff!
8:43 pm on September 25th, 2013
Rio – take Todd Helton’s age, subtract the Storyteller’s last two digits of his birth year, and add the number of months that you snort in, and you will have part of the address where the postcard was sent. Gee – Reeley. Are you sure you haven’t moved?
8:52 pm on September 25th, 2013
Good thoughts for MPM.
Golinka, Is that only for the Sheraton Hotel chain?
8:55 pm on September 25th, 2013

Golinka, we got our lovely postcard when we came back from our Treadle On Gathering. I don’t remember if I said thank you. Thank You.
Sam, good luck with Lulu tomorrow.
I tried doing the math. I think I came up with seventeen.
9:30 pm on September 25th, 2013

It’s hard, but I’m watching. It is wise for Helton to retire while he is still playing well, but sob, sob, sob

Here is our rural excitement for the day. The rumors were wild this morning but nothing has happened all day. Hopefully the guy left the area in his red car. 200 miles, he could be in Canada by now.

9:43 pm on September 25th, 2013
Rio, I saw the horsie!! I bet the fans in Boston got to see it on tv.
9:46 pm on September 25th, 2013
I would like to see the Rockies win this one tonight for Helton but the stats are not in their favor.
9:47 pm on September 25th, 2013
