Books in audible.com go to the smartphone via iTunes. The audible library has a download option that puts the book in iTunes. Then you connect the smartphone to the PC with a USB cable and drag and drop from iTunes.

Hello Everyone!
First you need to know that my mourning morning is over. I am back to feeling almost tip-top.
Heard from the doc. It is cancer. It appears to be a slow growing liver tumor. This is good, because it can be cured. The tumor has to remain small as I wait on Waiting list. For it to remain small I might have to have radiation.
Next steps: Another hospital needs to send some slides to my doc’s hospital. Seems to be some miscommunication there. I asked if I could help and he said don’t worry, he’ll get them. Then my two docs, a surgeon, a pathologist and others meet to figure out the best way for me to go into treatment. That’s next Friday.
I might have to have MRI to see the exact length of the tumor. Oh, Joy . . NOT.
I will be taking some meds to bring my anxiety down on that one. I still haven’t forgotten being caught in one for over FORTY-FIVE minutes, and it turned out someone had unplugged the machine. Jeeze. (not at this hospital though)
The Friday after that, if things look good for the waiting list, I will be put in touch with one of the best liver transplant clinics in the Northeast.

I realize the “C” word is very scary, but when I had cervical cancer, my beloved sister-in-law who was a nurse, told me 90% of getting through it and recovery is your attitude. Woman, you are the pack leader of Newfs, the biggest darn dogs I have ever seen!!! You go in there and kick that cancer to the curb, girl!!!!!

Dawson: Best to apply for passport early. If you do, believe it can be done through the mail. Probably takes 4-6 weeks. We had to go in person and jump through hoops to get it renewed after 15+ years.

The Howlers are not very good at handling news. I just want Melanie to know that they are moping and wishing they could be in the hills of Western Mass with Melanie, Zoe, The Pack, Amalia, Leonard, Tupper, Gilly, and yes even the Herbs. They think a big old Howlfest is the surest way to stand up to that rotten news, that is not so rotten after all. They have learned to really hate the “C” word, but then again, when it comes with the paired “C” word (CURABLE), it is so much more tolerable. It will be a tough road, Melanie, but you are a strong woman who is surrounded by lots and lots of love, both at home and on this blog.

Masquers: I really like the Kindle Fire for reading (it is back-lit so you can read in the dark) and for listening to audible books. (However, I really prefer audio CDs which have become hard to find.) I have an iPad that I use as a portable laptop. (I don’t really like typing on-screen.) For typing, email, blogging I prefer my laptop mainly because I prefer the screen size and the keyboard. (I have the laptop set up on a typing desk on wheels.)

Melanie, you know Truman went through this in the past year. We know how scary the “C” word can be. But you have some advantages! Yours is slow growing…his was extremely aggressive. You can have a transplant…they didn’t think they could transplant a brain (LOL). And you are being pro-active. Its always best to find out what you are dealing with so the doctors can plan the best possible treatment.
We do have your back. Believe me, I know how much the power of positive thoughts and prayers and the support of friends helps. If your treatment or transplant finds you shuttled to the Houston Medical Center, you and your family have room and board free with us (less than an hour from one of the best cancer treatment centers in the world.)
And most important, you have Zoe, OTAS & GLAD, YSAS & LLL and the pack as well as the Plunderers! Exceptional support group!

When mom got her ipaw, she got a keyboard/case to go around it se she doesn’t have to type on the screen or she can take it apart for the convenience of the tablet. It also kind of protect it from us 🙂

Our Mama is ridiculous. She has b en cleaning, rearranging and organizing the “new” cellar, and just took a break a little while ago. That was when she saw an email from her best friend saying that it was cancer.
And she just got MAD. Pissed off. Angry, outraged, furious, irate, incensed, enraged, and infuriated. At the cancer,and at the shear audacity of a tumor daring to bother her friend.
Then she called her friend. And her wise and gentle friend talked her down off the ledge.
Yup, her friend is one truly remarkable woman, and if ever there was a spirit that could kick that $@$%$%&^&!#$#$% cancer to the curb, it is her. So there!
And when all this is said and done, and Mama and her cured best friend are back out there on the road together, doing things and going places together, the world better stand back and watch out!
We can’t wait.

Hey Melanie, Curable cancer and a transplant. Heh. No problemo lady. The hardest part of my transplant (Kidney for those of you who forgot) was waiting. The hardest part afterwards is pills every 12 hours means I have to have a timer with me so I don’t forget.
Easy peasy. You will drop kick that cancer to the curb or your sons will do it for you. Hugs and lotsa love from North Dakota.
Also Alice and Abbie are ready to use you as a pillow anytime you need 102 degree heating pads.

Masquers: I thought you meant your mom is a libra(rian) but were abbreviating the word. Duh. A libra pure and simple. Took me awhile.
It is a nice day here. I am preparing for winter by giving the lawn its last mowing of the season, putting some mulch on the newly planted flowers (hoping they make it through the winter), putting away rain barrels and generally picking up the yard. Usually I prune the rose bushes right down close to the ground but this year I am leaving the zillion rose hips for the birds.

CHobbit: Sadie is toooo cute!
OH: Mom is a native of Southern Calif so to her a stink bug looked like a scarab (dung beetle) and lifted it behind to spray. Imagine her surprise when she learned that some Asian bugs hitch hiked here on a container ship and are trying to usurp the name! Never had a clue…until 2 summers ago.
Now when the neighbors spray, every bug in east TN comes running to her. She has hired the same guy to visit 2 days after he does the neighbors.
Tomorrow, mom and the shop vac are visiting all the windows…yetch!

Howlers – thanks for that link about the bugs. We don’t mean to be dense, but the article didn’t really address what the bugs actually are – we saw that they suggested vacuuming them up, and maybe even having a vacuum dedicated to that, but really, we don’t understand. Do they stink just on their own, or do they defend themselves by emitting a stink or what.
We don’t have them here, nor did we ever have them in New Mexico.

Broadchurch!…Well, we finally finished the last episode of Broadchurch…sniff!…Not the ending I was hoping for, but all in all a very good show. I did see a message at the end that Broadchurch will return, as Stover said…grunt!… I hope it does not return without the leading female detective. Although, I will not miss the sickly Scottish guy, not at all. Good riddance to him. ..wheeze!

BooBear!…You are correct in oh so many ways…heh!…Because of office space restrictions, my friend is in the same room with her boss. Not cramped, but not private either. ..sniff!…So she is being careful not to logon to the internet for “personal” reasons just yet…grunt!…I think as time goes by, this will not become such a strict rule, but for now she is being the tip-top new employee…heh!heh!
