Last Night

“How did it go at Wellesley Books last night?” says Admin.

“No one threw anything,” says Spence.

“That’s our metric! And you have to have one these days, when everything has to be measured and quantified.”

“Is there a problem with that?”

“Not if you’re working for McKinsey. Yes if you’re just trying to live a normal life.”

Good morning all. Glad there were no tomatoes involved. Hope there were some good answers on the pop quiz.

Went back and read some good reporting on our Nana. Does anyone know how long she will be gone?

Would be nice to hear from Rose today. And Wolfie too.

Now time for a quick walkie and then Barb is off for her 2nd work day of the week.

The carpenter did a great job on rebuilding our front window outside. There will be no more leaking of rain or cold air, plus it looks great. He will be back tomorrow to do the inside work.

    Have a terrific Thursday.

Good morning! Mom has been complaining about those metrics lately, too! She is not only being measured, but is now expected to measure her co-workers for some reason. She does not like it.
Me? I have my own metrics. Give a minimum of 100 kisses to each 2-legged I meet in a day? Check.
Zeus: Dug a minimum 2 holes to China per day . Check.
Mama Meash: Tackled her puppy 10 times per day? Check.

Loulou is better today. She managed to lie down and it seemed that she stayed in the same place on the bed for the whole night. So far today she just wants to be on my lap. I’ll wait before I drag her back to the vets. The might be too strenuous on her. She’s sleeping sitting up on my lap with her head on the table.

Happy Thursday everyone. It is only 68 here at the beach, but the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the waves are swooshing and the sand is smooth. So, all in all, it’s perfect. We are talking our beach chairs, our books and our sunblock and going to hang out with the seagulls.

I am glad LouLou is better today. Tomorrow she should feel even better. A long time ago, mom noticed one of her dogs was feeling “off” after her vaccinations. Mom called the vet clinic and they admitted a dog can feel poorly after their shots.

I hope everything is going okay for Wose.

The arrival of the rains from the hurricane have been delayed. Now they are saying tonight and tomorrow. Free sandbags are being passed out in Albuquerque.

    Rio!! WOO WOO!!

The Dodgers have dumped the Isotopes…good riddance to the Dodgers. The Isotopes now belong to the Rockies. There is talk of painting the town purple. The Isotopes ballpark is suppose to the the nicest in the minor leagues.
Now, if only the Isotopes could play baseball better than what they have been doing.

    11:21 am on September 18th, 2014

SiberH. Thanks for the update on the Isotopes. There had been a long tradition with the Dodgers going back to the 1960s, but I think the Rockies will be a great sucessor franchise affiliation. When I first started following minor league baseball, the Albuquerque Dukes were in the Texas League (Double AA) and were a Kansas City farm team, although they shifted to the Dodgers at some point in the mid-1960s. They also played in a ricketly old stadium near the zoo I think, moving to the stadium near UNM towards the end of the 1960s. There was also a lot of back and forth in that era on the name of the team, whether it would be the Albuquerque Dukes or the Albuquerque Dodgers, both of which were infinitely better than the Isotopes.

Stover, The name, Isotopes, comes from New Mexico’s history. The first atomic bomb was built here in Los Alamos and the first atomic bomb was tested at White Sands, NM.

I do not think it was logical to name a baseball team because of this history.

    Wait!

I meant to say: Think Iditarod Checkpoints!

Checkpoint Central will soon be open for the season and since we did not hire McKinsey to help us, we will continue to rely on our own chaotic but effective index card method!

However, we are mulling around the idea of a checkpoint dedicated sdd account to better serve Plunderers, semi Plunderers, Lurkers and non-Plunderers alike. This would greatly improve efficiency. Who needs McKinsey?

So start checking your piggy banks, your pockets and the couch cushions for any spare change and start saving for Snowhook.

An Official Announcement will be made as soon (probably not today…but within a week).

Siber-H, W and T’s D,Rio et al–Isn’t the Isotopes also the local team on The Simpsons? Doesn’t that make the name cool? (Plus you can refer to them as the ‘Topes). Do their uniforms have features to make them seem radioactive (like fluorescent dye)?

lol I don’t know if the Isotopes have anything radioactive on their uniforms or not. I have never paid much attention to the Isotopes. They do refer to them as the Topes.
I have never liked the Isotopes or their former parent club.

Actually, the Isotopes may have some sort of atomic symbol on their uniforms. I am not sure.

Now that all is well with Loulou, I have some questions. She needed 3 shots and we postponed the leptospirosis shot for a month. Yesterday was rabies in one hip and kennel cough in the other. Since Loulou couldn’t lie down last night, I was thinking something about one or both of her hips bring painful. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

  72. Herd of Hounds
    9:17 pm on September 18th, 2014

It is possible since she is a small girl that she was in a bit of pain. We are glad that she is back to her usual self. The HOH hasn’t had issues with injections but all are good sized gals šŸ™‚

  73. Siber-H
    9:24 pm on September 18th, 2014

Mollypop’s Mom. I don’t have any thoughts on it. Mom has always had bigger dogs.
What I do want to say is I get my shots in the shoulder. I didn’t know they gave small dogs shots in their hips.

Well, okay, I had a thought.. Mom has had a sore arm after some shots like a flu vaccine. (some years)
It makes sense to think that LouLou could have the same soreness in the hips.

  74. Siber-H
    9:30 pm on September 18th, 2014

Since LouLou had problems, mom would never let her have more than one vaccine at a time. A vet might poo poo that idea, but mom would stand firm.

I get my kennel cough vaccine up the nose. The vet is so quick, I really don’t know it is happening.

Rose – you just lurk away, dear. You must have lots and lots on your mind. You come back when you are good and ready.

MPM – as mentioned, Miss Gilly can’t get two shots in one day. Tupper is fine with it, but Gilly really suffers. Same goes for us two leggeds – Gramp can’t use his arm for a day after his flu shot. Me? I forget all about it – no pain at all.

Diane – we know the “san” is Japanese, but it just worked. And it wasn’t our thought, we were just following the lead. We are still very curious about the suddenness of such an exotic trip.

  76. Barb & Maggie
