Kitchens and Us
I’d seen worse. The kitchen, which was where we ended up, was kind of nice. It had one of those old stoves you sometimes see that stand on little feet, with space underneath, and in that space, would you believe it? Practically a whole strip of bacon, presently – but not for long, amigo – getting gnawed on by a nervous-eyed mouse. The little guy split in a hurry – and tried to abscond with the goods, abscond with the goods being cop talk for making off with the bacon. In the end, he barely absconded with himself. As for the bacon? Delish, and not really that old at all. Still plenty of crunch left, which is how we like our bacon, me and Bernie. This case, whatever it was about exactly, couldn’t have been going more smoothly.

Good morning! We are all on vacation here! Mom says that for some reason, we always have hurdles to jump over to get to vacation. We must have cleared those hurdles easily, because I didn’t even see them.

Good morning y’all.
MPM, I used to have a friend who had a certified service dog, because of balance issues. LLL ( little looloo since I can’t keep straight on which loo is who) may be a tad small for the purpose.
I am off for a renal study ie. sonogram in just a bit. Yesterday was just a wonderland of medicalness. First, PCP, who gave me nice new drug that knocked the migraine on its donkey, plus referral to Rheumatologist for connective tissue issue,(heh-heh, it sounds funny when you say it out loud), one to the Cardiologist for blood pressure dropsies, an x-ray series on my back, and the above mentioned sonogram. Sheesh. I may be having a fundraiser of my own soon.
So, I went for the x-ray, but it took to long to get in, had to leave to get to the NEXT new doc, who gives the meds that hopefully keep me from flinging myself off a bridge.
Back to the radiologist, got the back photoed. Now I have to go drink a big glass of water and stay out of the WC until the sonogram is finished. After that I hope to avoid any medical personnel until Monday with Mom.
I know…more info than anybody wanted, but you guys are my outlet for getting this outta my head, so feel free to read every third word.

Mom just gave me a brand new pill, and get this: She wore those smelly gloves when she gave it to me. But, it was cleverly wrapped in my wonderful Greenies pocket, so what the heck. All’s good.

Rio: your friend and I are twinsies today! Two people celebrating special days. My friends are hosting a potluck this evening for my b-day. Usually I just go out to dinner with my two best friends but I guess in honor of my leaving, we are actually having a party. My first since I don’t know how long. So…feeling happy today.
[My sister a few years ago announced that she was done with b-day and Christmas presents or any presents except for the grandchildren. Another way we are so different: I love buying gifts for people.]

Wose, Mom and Dad are going North to Alaska and leaving us home alone. But no worries, we have a fantastic cat sitter who will often spend the night with us so we won’t be lonely. Taking care of all of us is quite a chore so Mom is really happy to have such great friends. HOWEVER, they are going to retire soon and move to Bisbee, Arizona! Maybe we can work out a frequent flyer plan with Wolfie to blur you down to take care of us then! We really are very good kitties!

I also remember The Age Before Computers but mostly I remember the intervening years of slow, crashing computers, the lack of adequate training on them and being expected to also be a computer repairperson. One could always blame mistakes on computers and people would nod their heads and understand. Now when I leave my iPhone at home, it is like leaving my brain behind.

Whew – we finally are getting to sit down after working in the cellar all afternoon. Please understand that this cellar is our combination laundry room/daily clothes closet/seasonal clothes storage/cedar closet/pantry/rarely used but necessary on occasion kitchen apparatus and pans/ mud room/ cat litter and feeding room etc. it is a very large area that is well used, and now we have to find a place to put everything.
The Kats are not amused.

Interesting that you and your sister are very different. Same here. Barb’s only sister came to visit her one time in the 6 years she lived in her place in the country. She was soooo excited to see Barb’s place that she sat in the driveway for 30 minutes and yaked on her cell phone when she first arrived. In the 3 days she was there she never ventured past the patio. Would not walk out to look at the gardens, chicken coop or barn. Barb asked her to, and she said “Maybe later”! She also will NOT read a C & B book.

Happy b-day Franklin! I am stopping for the day and cleaning up for my party. I have discovered that on the last trip to Anchorage I took my hair dryer, almost all of my makeup, my tweezers and my fingernail scissors. So I am going to look scraggly but my friends won’t mind.
Latest dilemma: how to keep Sadie out of the back yard (which is the dog yard) until the re-inspection happens. One of the repairs was to fill in dog holes especially against the foundation. Siber-H: are you paying attention? I had to buy dirt and have it compacted. Gah!

Hmmmphf!…Everyone is in bed…sniff!…My friend was telling us all about her big day. It was great apparently….snort!…First off a big dept meeting (this never happens) and they, those that are in charge, manager-types that is, all acknowledged her and all the work she has done at the busy-damned-place and gave her many heart-felt Thank-Youse and then they gave her a Really Gigantic Giant-Sized Card that everyone had signed….wheeze!…Most of the comments where “Congratulations on getting the hell outta here! Woooo!” …heh!heh!…Even her mother laughed over those comments on that big ole card…chorkel!
FAC!…The get-together after leaving the busy-place was small with just her closest friends and because of the RAIN they cut it short….sniff!…But it was very nice and my friend seems super-duper happy tonight…heh!…This will be the first weekend in a very long time where she will not dread with all her heart going back to the busy-place on Monday morning…chuffle!

Barb!…My friend saw that you mentioned Tuna Salad and she makes the BEST-EVER Tuna salad. Even Beau and I like it and we hate everything…cough!….So here is her recipe:
Chicken of the Sea Solid Albacore
Celery chopped small
Red Onion chopped small
Dill Pickle relish or Dill Pickles chopped small
Best Foods Mayo
Drain the Tuna really well, so it is dry and then flake it up with a fork. Add celery, onion and lots of dill pickle and mayo to taste. It’s all good!…snort!

While waiting to snooze (I am now trying a cup of warm milk) I thought of those turkeys I saw on the side of the road . . Turkey is supposed to make you sleep. Seems to me they would be way too noisy, but you never know.
Heard from YSAS earlier. The moving company is booked and checked on twice. Almost everything is packed. The movers arrive on Sunday.
OTAS and GLAD have made it to the B&B. I hope they have a wonderful time.
Grace and I have planned our mission for tonight to get a turkey or two if the milk doesn’t help. Where did we see those birds?

Hi Macy, wish I could eat tuna. For some reason I have lost the taste to eat a lot of protein. Of course, if I go to my favorite diner and they fix me a Feta cheese Omelet, I enjoy it. If I try doing it . . Half way through I look at it and lose my appetite. The dogs are happy though.

THAT IS IT!
I have had it. I have left my warm, comfy bed and dressed in dark clothes. Grace and I have put dirt on our faces and are going out to catch us a TURKEY. Wish us luck.
