Greetings!
I have been lurking for a few days, and I did not want to trouble you with my baggage.
RIO! Your friend took some wonderful photos at the game. It must have been a special day for her! And she got to see Spence too!
AJ, Thanks for the great package! Love the tote! Love the bootie! I am not sure whose paw was in there, but I love it all the same. We here got a chuckle at the package address. You are the first to use ‘Grizz WItte’ on any mail we have received. Thanks for the two of us.
GO SNOWHOOK!

“…literature’s first and only dog-versus-drone scene.” SPOILER ALERT: I love the way Chet describes the drone in Paw.
Good morning all.

11:33 am on August 19th, 2014
Riö: Paws up here too. We know your friend enjoyed the tribute to Tod Helton. She sure took some great fotoz to commemorate the occasion. Sorry she missed the spectacular ending, but hope youse were able to catch it on the nightly news replay.

Week!…My friend says out of a week of exciting events, meeting Spencer and The Charming Mr. Abrahams topped them all….snort!…After all that excitement she is kind of feeling blue. I think she needs a vacation far far away from the Hot-Shot…heh!heh!
11:50 am on August 19th, 2014
Rio,right now we could all use a vacation from something.
11:50 am on August 19th, 2014
Rio, tell your friend to start planning on the start of the Iditarod 2015! That would be a vacation!
We also loved your presentation and pics last night. So glad the rain held off for the presentation.
11:52 am on August 19th, 2014
BooBear “junk,or us a coke” for posting at tha same time 🙂

BooBear!…I think my friend is planning something, she keeps fiddling with that blue suitcase….grunt!…But she won’t tell me and Beau anything..sniff!
12:15 pm on August 19th, 2014
The jungle red writers have good taste in authors.
New FOC Danny is trying his paws at paper crafts! Reggie is upright and ready (not really)!
Wose: Crying is healing, so says my chiropractor, who dealt with a sudden outburst of sobbing while she was taking my “history” prior to treatment. Heh, heh. I’ll have to buy her a replacement box of nose tissues.
Rio: Excellent photos of Todd Helton’s celebration. I’m glad your friend got such good seats at the game. The Rockies definitely needed her cheering them on at this game.
Snail Mail Race:
I’m wondering if the Snowhook Kennel package from Alaska or Paw and Order from California will arrive first.
12:38 pm on August 19th, 2014

12:50 pm on August 19th, 2014
Nice interview with Spence and they used one of my favorite photos for it.
Rio, I could come stay with you and Beau while your friend is away. We could think up fun things to do.
1:01 pm on August 19th, 2014
Snowhook! Thank You!
Mom just got around to fetching yesterday’s mail. The tote bag will be a great opening for conversations about Snowhook. The bootie came in mom’s favorite color…green.
GO SNOWHOOK!!!
1:03 pm on August 19th, 2014
Fun, y’all want FUN? Maybe we could come up with things with hot wings, beer, shine, mac and cheese and vine ripened ‘maters plus a couple of fried green ‘maters. So, whadday’all tbink? Let us know.
1:12 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rio – your friend is truly living the high life these days.
The crowds are eating lunch, so we are checking in. We are having fun, and have had a visitor in our booth since this morning.

1:27 pm on August 19th, 2014
Golinka, You are as sick as our mother 🙂
1:33 pm on August 19th, 2014
Beau: Big News! WoooHooo!!!
We hardly got a chance yesterday to gaze in wonder at the Beautiful Bounty & Bootie from the North before it was whisked off for Safe Keeping. Treasures like these should be used, not admired from afar, IMHO.
Siber-H knows what I mean. Sniff.
Tupper’s Mama: The Wolf Necklace! Woozer.
1:39 pm on August 19th, 2014
HOH You have a deal!
The Wolf Necklace!
Fantastic!
1:44 pm on August 19th, 2014
Beau: This is really big news! When? When is your friend going?!
1:57 pm on August 19th, 2014
Beau, When???? Maybe your friend and I can meet up!
(As long as she isn’t going to Iowa!)
In the garden this morning.

1:59 pm on August 19th, 2014
More from the garden. Note Mr.Staff’s corn…snicker.

Now I have to run errands and get massaged and go quilting. Yip yip yippee.
PS I got a treat from Snowhook today. Wowee! Those booties are soft! I didn’t expect that. I wonder if it would be good filled with catnip? Hmmmmmmm pondering.

The green one just fell off so it will go on the windowsill.
2:06 pm on August 19th, 2014
We prize our green tomatoes because they end up as fried green tomatoes. Guilty pleasure for sure, but delicious.
2:16 pm on August 19th, 2014
Recon!…I will have to do some spying and recon work to figure out when my friend is thinking of leaving me alone with ole Beau and her mother……sniffle!grump!
2:34 pm on August 19th, 2014
Terry: We have never had Fried Green Tomatoes and believe Someone Here first heard about them when the movie of the same name came out many years back.
The Recipe would have come in mighty handy last year when we were buried in little ‘maters that never seemed to ripen.
Staff: Must say…that little Cob of Corn looks pretty pathetic.
2:35 pm on August 19th, 2014
…but the rest look Yummy!
2:56 pm on August 19th, 2014
Corn!…That cobb looks exactly like what I would expect Mr FireSlippers corn cobbs to look like…snorkel!
3:11 pm on August 19th, 2014
Staff: Are those morning glories among the monarchs?
3:24 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rio. First of all, thank you for the terrific photos from the game. Every Rockies game that your friend attends is truly memorable.
And what a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday here in Chevy Chase. The tote bag, bootie and note from AJ were all so special and very, very welcome. Teddy seemed particularly interested in the bootie for some reason.
And some interesting news from here in Chevy Chase. Our friends down the street lost one of their two goldens to cancer at the beginning of the year (Charlie of Lucy and Charlie). But Lucy will soon have a new companion, and that companion will be Teddy’s younger brother, one litter down. Yep, mom Biscuit and dad Little Dickens have gotten together again and produced another stellar litter, and one of the offspring (we will obviously think of him as Junior) should be arriving sometime in the next couple of weeks. How about that?
3:38 pm on August 19th, 2014
Very sorry to hear about Charlie. He will have many friends waiting at the Bridge to restore him to everlasting health.
But what’s this? Teddy’s younger brother?! How cool is that? Do you think they will know or realize they are related?
3:39 pm on August 19th, 2014
RIO! Tell your friend I need a vacation too! We could do the Thelma and Louise thing.
3:41 pm on August 19th, 2014
Great news, Wookie and Teddy’s Dad.
Rio and Friend: Thank you for the pictures from the Rockies game. Almost like being there.
Beautiful veggies, Staff!
I, too, found a package of wonderful items from Snowhook in the mail today. Isn’t it fortuitous that sometimes, when one might need it, something to lift the spirits occurs? Thank you, Snowhook, for lifting my spirits. Thursday I will see my grandkids in the afternoon and will take all of my Snowhook pictures and other items along to show the little ones. The elementary school the children go to does a school-wide unit on the Iditarod during the race, and each student gets to pick a musher to follow. I bet I know who James and Kasia will be following this year!
3:54 pm on August 19th, 2014
I was going to be polite and not say anything about the corn, but, well, the corn is funny. It looks like some my dad once grew. I believe I have mentioned this before, but my dad and Mr. Staff have some things in common.
Teddy, That is exciting and heartwarming news.
Billy’s Buddy, James and Kasis will be able to get a lot of insider news and pictues if they pick AJ as their musher
3:59 pm on August 19th, 2014
Staff: You know Alice, Abbie and I always take time to smell the flowers. That is a lovely foto and the purple one is my personal favorite.
Wookie&Teddy’s Dad: Great news from Chevy Chase. Teddy’s little bro will be just down the street.
Hi to BB.
Rose: Snort.
Beau!

3 years ago our Rock (g-son) wrote to gov of TN for a project. Now we expect him to promote the Snowhook team and if we can get him out of school for a week or so…who knows what kind of monster we can create 🙂 Can”t help the “abuelita:” from trying !
4:10 pm on August 19th, 2014
STaff, love the several fluterbies we see in the morning glotries, very nice 🙂
4:28 pm on August 19th, 2014
Yes, they do love Staff’s flowers!

Hello Everyone–Getting a late start as I wait to hear about Ms. Pretty’s surgery. All the pictures are gorgeous–I especially like the butterflys (butterflies?) and the albino squash.
Wose–You’re OK! No sobbing! Great!!!
Beau–Nice to hear from you–I’m sure you’ll enjoy the stay with your friend’s mom (and so will Rio).
Ms. Amalia–I hope your moth appreciates the safe sanctuary you’re providing (I know I would). I am also hoping for brisk sales and a happy time for you today.
OK, I have to call the v e t and see what’s going on. Likely BBL.
4:29 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rose!…The drive off a cliff thing?…gah!
4:41 pm on August 19th, 2014
RIO! No driving off the cliff, unless we are in a Porsche. heh!
4:43 pm on August 19th, 2014
Dawson: Yeep! The PAO Package…it was So Close and yet so far…suddenly going from near the Border to traveling down L.A. way, and is now spinning around their sort facility.
What’s up with that?
Diane: Paws crossed there is Good News for Ms Pretty.
4:44 pm on August 19th, 2014
Beau: It is nice to hear from you! I miss you when you are not on this blog. I am sorry that your legs are hurting you and that you had to go to that big guy v-e-t.
4:45 pm on August 19th, 2014
Royal Mum: Perhaps the moth is a good luck charm….
4:46 pm on August 19th, 2014
The Porsche is NOT going off a cliff!
4:56 pm on August 19th, 2014
Siber: Bernie’s does it all the time.
5:00 pm on August 19th, 2014
But Masquers, we believe that Siber H might have a tad more common sense than Bernie…sometimes…?
5:00 pm on August 19th, 2014
Wose — We are very curious indeed as to whether Teddy will know whether or not he and Junior are related. We will definitely keep you posted on developments and with luck, maybe a photo or two.
BTW, did anyone take note of the authors the were collectively putting out the blog Jungle Red Writers. There are some real heavyweights there (I’m speaking of being major significant mystery writers, not their physical appearance). It is a very impressive group and I have read a number of their books.
5:27 pm on August 19th, 2014
HOH: If he loans it out it may not be our sensible Siber at the wheel.
WTD: The authors are indeed impressive, but Spence fits right in.
5:38 pm on August 19th, 2014
I am NOT loaning the Porsche out.
5:43 pm on August 19th, 2014
Good afternoon. We are hoping for good news on Miss Pretty’s op.
When Misha Moonman was only a year old, the neighbors went to that same breeder to get a pup from the litter born a year later. They asked our ‘rents to keep him until Christmas, as the puppy was to be a surprise from Santa. At that time, Misha liked to ruff-house with everyone. Well, that little brother of his showed up, and Misha immediately laid down and let him climb all over him. They were instant best friends, and Mom says she never had a doubt that Moon smelled his mama on that little boy. He and Yukon stayed best friends until Mish found hiis lovely Sasha. You know how women like to tag along and ruin a perfectly good bromance.
5:49 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rio – we are north of your friend. Could she be coming to see Corgis and Wrotten Kats?
6:02 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rio – is she going…to…AK???
Wookie’s and Teddy’s Dad – Mom reads Jungle Red Writers and has found many interesting discussions and new authors there. I actually posted a comment to Mr. Quinn early this morning when I saw his interview. She also reads Louise Penny’s blog and really likes her books.
Teddy – exciting for you soon to have a relative nearby!
6:07 pm on August 19th, 2014
Golinka!…I wouldn’t put it past her…grunt!…Now that she’s met Spencer she feels like she could do anything….grump!grumble! …Especially without me!…spit!kick!
6:25 pm on August 19th, 2014
Blu-Kat!…Did you see where Spencer answered your question out on Jungle Red Writers?…snort!…Better go check it out…heh!heh!

Booties and totes! We here are happy that youse there like the booties and tote bags. The booties are a thank you and are from the race this year— what a race it was!—but we also wanted you to have a keepsake of Melanie’s race. The Giant insisted on writing the thank you notes. We are grateful beyond measure for your continued support. Thank you from the bottom of our sled dog hearts.
North! When you are pug height isn’t north anything that makes you look up, up, up?
6:38 pm on August 19th, 2014
Wose: I told that damn pixie to address the package using Grizz’s proper name, but she refused. She said Professor sounded to formal for family. Head bumps and sparkles!
6:45 pm on August 19th, 2014
So good to hear that some are family. We believe that too or else some of our connections would never have happened.
7:02 pm on August 19th, 2014
DianeC: Waiting to hear good news about Miss Pretty.
It’s a gloomish day here and puts me in a mood for Henri le chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q34z5dCmC4M
7:03 pm on August 19th, 2014
Careful Staff, men are sensitive about the size of their corn.
Golinka, your sign should say “unless you want to purchase the wolf necklace. Then the damn moth is on her own.”
Rose, did you watch “Thelma and Louise” all the way to the end? Might not want to go all the way to Utah.
7:07 pm on August 19th, 2014
Henri! my hero.
7:12 pm on August 19th, 2014
When I returned from Alaska and opened my suitcase, Loulou sniffed and sniffed for maybe about an hour. Then this wonderful package arrives from Alaska and Loulou went wild. Before I even opened the package she was jumping up-and-down. Then she sniffed the tote bag but went totally crazy over the bootie. She knows that smell from my suitcase.
7:15 pm on August 19th, 2014
When my girls were younger we went on a vaca to Grand Canyon and points north. I had trouble getting a hotel room because a movie crew had them all booked up in Moab. When we were in Zion National Park areas were blocked off due to filming. We never saw any actual filming but we did see the ill-fated car sitting all alone. Of course at the time, we had no idea the big part the car played in the movie. We found out the name of the movie and waited with baity breath for it to come out. The girls remember that more than the beautiful scenery I think.
7:23 pm on August 19th, 2014
The landscape in Thelma and Louise is so beautifully filmed…almost like a John Ford western.
The car they sailed off the cliff in the movie is still at the bottom of the Colorado River canyon.
7:48 pm on August 19th, 2014
ML: Truth be told, I have never seen “Thelma and Louise.” I just like the idea of of girl’s road trip.
Belle Starr: I have missed you on this here blog! Professor is too formal…even I don’t call Grizz that. Grizz fits just fine. That is his Alaska name.
Headbumps, tummies, and a spray of sparkles back at you!
7:56 pm on August 19th, 2014
My dear friend, Rose, I know you and BSD and everyone calls him Grizz, but he will always be the Prof to moi.
8:22 pm on August 19th, 2014
BearSpiritDog: Really? My Paw and Order is going down to LA? Perhaps they don’t know which way is up!
Loulou’s & Mollypop’s Mom: Loulou knows greatness when she sniffs it!
8:39 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rose!…Maybe you should rent Thelma and Louise…snort!…It will give you a chance to see a very young Brad Pitt…((shudder!))
8:41 pm on August 19th, 2014
ML!…That is an amazing story!….snort!…I love hearing stories like that. You actually saw “the car”…wow!
8:44 pm on August 19th, 2014
Youse guys are making Mom want to see Thelma & Louise again.
Cool story, ML.
Teddy, we can’t wait to find out if you have as great a connection with your bro as Misha did with Yukon. This is super egg-citing.
T&G, hope your maw and paw’s merchandise is flying off the shelf.
8:47 pm on August 19th, 2014
My dearest Masquers, You and The Prof have a special relationship.
RIO! Snort! Brad Pitt. Wuffle! GAH!
8:48 pm on August 19th, 2014
Rio! If your friend is honest-to-dog going Way Up North to Alaska, you should hide out in her suitcase. I did not do that, because I was so sure my momma would never go off without me. But dog-burn it! She did! And I missed my chance to meet up with RJ right there in his own backyard.
9:04 pm on August 19th, 2014
KAT!…Excellant Idea!…Zow!Zow!…I bet i can fit in that big ole blue suitcase…heh!heh!(rubbing paws together)…snort!
9:29 pm on August 19th, 2014
Walk!…grump!…It is that time again…guffle!…Tonight Beau is going with us…sniff!…So it should be an easy walk…heh!heh!…Hey! Maybe Jazz and Floyd will be outside in their yard…chorkel!…Pucker up Jazzie! Here I come!…burp!
Oh!…Here is a better look at Mr.FireSlippers corn…heh!heh!
9:31 pm on August 19th, 2014
Riö: Better rethink your nefarious plan…you know where that big blue suitcase goes, right?…in the luggage compartment!
Now if it were moi stowing away…I would pick a roomy carry-on bag instead. Heh.
9:32 pm on August 19th, 2014

Rio – we would be very surprised if your friend made it to Alaska without you managing to rag along somehow.
And Thieves – the Corgis want to know if your comment to Rio was a “short joke”.
Sorry about the weird postings. Wifi here keeps going on and off. Makes it a challenge to take credit cards…

The car trunk is also dark and noisy…and worst of all…NO SNACKS!
9:38 pm on August 19th, 2014

9:56 pm on August 19th, 2014
Golinka, at least it sounds like you are needing to take credit cards, good deal.
I looked down and Annie was in Macy’s doggy bed. This is a first. No reason, she just hasn’t done it before. When she saw me looking, she hopped right out of there.
Oh, sigh, going to watch the 20/20 on Robin Williams.
10:09 pm on August 19th, 2014
Robin!…The Master…sniff!…We are not going to depress ourselves watching 20/20…grunt!…My friend says she had the priviledge of seeing him perform live in Boulder and that is the memory she will keep of him. Young, alive and AMAZING…chuffle!
10:19 pm on August 19th, 2014
Game!…Hey! Me and my friend are all psyched-up again over the Rockies…snort!…They won two games in one day, who couldn’t be psyched?…heh!…So now that we are back in the cool, cool basement watching the game, life is as it should be…snuffle!…Playing Kansas City – eeek! Those guys are on a roll this season…guffle!…Right now all is OK – my team is one run ahead…sneeze!gasp!
10:21 pm on August 19th, 2014
Golinka!…And the StoryTeller are on my mind. I wonder how their day went and how it is going right now…sniff!sniff!
10:22 pm on August 19th, 2014
Stopping by for a quick hello before heading to bed.
Love the morning glories and Monarchs. What a great picture.
There might be a little problem with pollination of Mr. Staff’s corn. But you know what they say – Size doesn’t matter!
HOH, I think you have that expression a little screwed up – it’s jinx you owe me a coke.
Teddy’s Pop, I don’t think Teddy will realize that the new pup is directly related but I do believe that he would recognize his mama or his litter mates. Also dogs have a thing called “breed recognition”, so he will probably easily relate to another Golden.
Early to bed tonight. Boss is picking me up at home early tomorrow to go to a seminar. Guessing he wants to keep me around since he wants me to learn more stuff!
ML, You are especially funny today.
BB late tomorrow. Have a great day everyone.
10:42 pm on August 19th, 2014
GAH!…The Royals have a 2 run lead right now….sniff!snuffle!weep!sob!….buggar.
10:51 pm on August 19th, 2014
What? We have a two run lead??? We didn’t even know we were racing, but let’s face it – Royals are always in the lead.
(tee hee)
Mama is home for the night. Day one of the really long she’s is history. See youse guys tomorrow.
10:53 pm on August 19th, 2014
Jungle!…My friend says Jungle Red is going to become one of her favorite book sites..snort!…Someone on this blog said Spencer fit right in, but I noticed all the writers are female…heh!…Whoa!
10:53 pm on August 19th, 2014
That was meant to be “really long shew” of course. sigh
10:56 pm on August 19th, 2014
Golinka!…Glad youse guys are safe and sound…sniff!…For some reason you’ve been on my flat-pug-head tonight…snort!…Hope it is all good there with the show and such…heh!heh!
11:10 pm on August 19th, 2014
Royals!..Now 2 runs ahead, both named Tupper and Gilly…grunt!…We are still up watching because baseball season is fast closing in on us again…grump!…How can this be? It’s because our team, as much as I love them, is in the basement…grunt…Means our “season” will be over really quick, like very soon now…puffle!grump!
11:28 pm on August 19th, 2014
Hanging!…By my tail..snort!..In 007Wookie style I over-heard her mother and my friend talking about “the upcoming trip”…snort!…She is indeed planning a trip up North To Alaska to visit Chobbit and the Snowhook Kennel, The Giants and Junior and Thieves, and Junior again!! All of whom she loves and adores so much…grunt!…Nothing but Love capital “L” could get my friend on an Areoplane – 4 times…gasp!…2 going and 2 coming back. I know she has counted the ways…sneeze!…I know she is terrified. But I also know…she will get on those planes this time…chuffle!…It is a very big deal. To her anyways and me…gurgle!
11:34 pm on August 19th, 2014
Date!…Data Gathered!…August 30th to Sept. 6th…gah!…I will NOT be left alone that long. I can tell youse that right now…grump!
11:51 pm on August 19th, 2014
Oh boy! Rio’s friend and I will meet up in AK. WHoooOOoooOOHHHOOoooOOOoooooo!
So now we know there are 3 of us going. Mr.Staff, me and Rio’s friend. Step right up folks and get your trip to AK. They are going fast and the slow pokes will not get into the Hobbit Hotel. So put some giddy-up in your tank.
About the pictures this morning. The two butterflies were hatched out from my house this a.m. That makes 8 total this year!
And Mr.Staff says that the cob was perfect when he checked it two days ago but he thinks the birds got into it when he left the husks open a little bit. Poor guy…sniff. I am sorry for him. Because he believes size matters. In corn anyway.
