Mom had fun at the fireworks last night. My Aunt Sue lives on a residential street and the whole neighbor buys fireworks and lights them in the middle of the street.
I’m glad I was there because it was really loud and scary. But in the middle of the fireworks, a Weimaraner ran by in an absolute panic. Mom caught him and put him in the car with the air-conditioning running. It took the owner an hour to arrive, but mom said that she really enjoyed visiting and cuddling with this beautiful doggie.

I’ve sent the cookbook to Liz. Without the pictures it’s 110 pages. I included “List of Contributors and Plunderers” so all will be named. (I used the alphabetized Who’s Who.) I also added Snowhook’s friend,Jodi Oxenrider, who contributed a jam recipe. SH’s Dog Biscuit “recipe” is the last one. The dedication page is: “We dedicate this cookbook to Chet and Bernie, Spence and Admin without whom the Plunderers would not exist.”
Think I’ll have a large glass of Cahors…..

Melanie – Now THAT’S a Cake!! Mmmmmmmm – tuna flavor cake with salmon mousse frosting and little anchovie fishy decorations! The grey icing on the shark – smoked bluefish! What an inspiration!
Mama said that it was just too beautiful to eat…then she said maybe she would have some later…….much later….
Not sure Basil and I can wait! We invited Alice and Abby and Gus and BooBear and BlueCat and Masquers and Buddy and TC and all the other Kats to come, so if they show up, we’ll just have to cut the cake before Mama is ready to sample it.

Rio: I don’t think it’s advisable for you to tell the whole blog who is bidding or not. There may be many reasons for bidding or not bidding and we don’t expect our bids or lack thereof to be broadcast by the bid recorder.
For instance…if you kept the information that a Plunderer has the high bid on the Arc to yourself…then another Plunderer may have upped the bid thinking a facebookie had the Arc.
Now if the bidder wants to disclose…that’s up to them.

I just had a carpola moment when I saw the typo in my last post. What in the world is ‘exerice?’—I have no idea.
Dawson: Yes! Two yearling males, I believe. He said one is like our rescue (and leader), Rory and the other is like Willie who passed away a couple of years ago. Willie was love…a very hyper, very large, love. Back-flipping pug—Rio is more agile than I’ve imagined.
I’m so glad that Dan had a good vacation. It sounds like he’s worn out from his vacation. I’m jealous of his nap…Coach and Bev are running my ragged.

I thought we were going to go out celebrating earlier, but I wound up at the v-e-t. I have been a little sluggish lately, but who wouldn’t be in this heat. I was a perfect lady until the doc started messing with my “do not touch” area. I won’t put up with that from anyone. She gave me some thyroid medicine to perk me up. The only thing that is going to perk ME up is a high in the 70’s. I don’t know how you long haired guys stand it. I am practically down to my skin now!

We haven’t had a good night’s sleep here, either, since Mom got sick last week. She’s fine now, but they didn’t get home last night — or should I say this morning! — until well after 1 o’clock, and by the time we all got to bed it was much, much later! Plus, Mom had the usual day-after-a-holiday rush at the library today. And tomorrow promises to be even busier, because a steel drum band is playing at the library! Well, outside the library, anyway. Everyone keep your paws crossed for pleasant weather in the morning!
