A dusting of SNOW! Our first of the season.
On Thanksgiving day the famous Ballard Turkey Trot an annual charity event, which NPR tells us originated in Buffalo, NY in 1896 and is now a holiday tradition all over the United States.
Thanks to OFA for his contribution to Small Business Saturday.
And, that reminds me…it’s time to get back to our shopping at the Snowhook Holiday Auction ^..^

Bear, I think you are confused.
9:30 am on November 29th, 2014
Up and feeling better but not tip top. Rio, I got sick the night before the family gathering. I would take Airborne if I were traveling.
We like the idea of supporting small business too. Bought two Christmas gifts from a small business yesterday, and then ordered two more today online.
Just saw on the news that President Bush is going to be at Anderson Bookstore in Naperville to sign copies of a book he just wrote about his father, Bush 41. That is the same bookstore where I went to meet Spence in Sept. 2012.
9:35 am on November 29th, 2014
Thinking of Tupper and Gilly’s folks today. We are sending out a virtual hug.
10:11 am on November 29th, 2014
YAwN!…Auction Bids from late last night and early this morning are now updated…snort!…I must have cawfee. At least I do not have to deal with the pub-lick…yeeep!
10:42 am on November 29th, 2014
Bear Hugs to the Royals. We are with you in Spirit today.
Kat: Confused? How so? If you are referring to the Howling Huskies, I think not.
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: Quite a Coincidence!
Rio: Yippee for the Bid Updates!
10:48 am on November 29th, 2014
Bear!…Check your SDD…snort!
Rogue!…We have a rogue bidder on #24. Please do not bid on this item till we can remove her bid from the Auction Page…grump!..People who do not read rules really annoy me…sniff!
11:02 am on November 29th, 2014
Rio: thank you for your tireless work for the auction.
A and L: big hugs to you today.
11:28 am on November 29th, 2014
Our thoughts are with A & L, Gramps, and their entire family today.
Rio, what is rogue bidder? What did they do wrong? Want to make sure we don’t do that.
11:33 am on November 29th, 2014
Rogue! Bid Resubmitted and Thank Dog.
11:35 am on November 29th, 2014
Bidder on #24…that name sounds strangely familiar.
11:50 am on November 29th, 2014
Barb!…Someone submitted their own bid on #24. This Item is off limits to bidding until Rebecca wakes up and deletes the last two bids….snort!
12:05 pm on November 29th, 2014
Bear, that was Staff.
12:06 pm on November 29th, 2014
Bear, that was Staff…the Howling Huskies, not the rogue bidder. Heh!
Rio, can you add to your comment on that rogue bidded item, that the bidder needs to send an email. It is just not apparent to newbies, and we do need newbies.
12:21 pm on November 29th, 2014
Our Lady came by Auction Central to re-calibrate the bid tracking machine. She said it was a quick flip of the switch. She put a fresh pot of kawfee on for Rio. Luna told our Lady that she wasn’t going to let Belle Starr or Harris, the second hand sled dog, not the hobbit back to AC until Rio gets the draw string in his swim trunks fixed.
12:29 pm on November 29th, 2014
Item 24!…Is open for bids once again…snort!…The newbie has been informed of the rules and regulations…grunt!
12:31 pm on November 29th, 2014
O’Howlers: Why yes, Kat was Correct…it was Staff and Not the Awesome One who posted the Howling Husky Duo last night. How could I ever have doubted her. sniff.
12:43 pm on November 29th, 2014
Well, Bear. Those are not must haves here. Momma said she needs another husky around here, like she needs a hole in her head. I think that meant “no”.
12:51 pm on November 29th, 2014
Greetings Everyone,
We won’t be able to take part in the auction and probably won’t be on the blog for awhile. Mom is even thinking about taking a short vacation away from the computer. My dad was admitted to the hospital yesterday and it is serious.
We are very thankful we have help from our friends that live here. Mom and I are fine, so please don’t worry about us.
I want you guys to bid, bid, bid! Even though I won’t be here, get those bids up, up, up!
Love to all of you,
Siber-H

The DDD and mom are in their jeans and thinking of Golinks and the Storyteller.
Darah, and I (Lucy Lou) can blurr to you, since I still have my crash cart disguise (with a few extra sparkles…thanks Belle) and Darah does a great bear skin rug (with a tail) imitation. We’ll leave Pookey and Blondie home. The peeps will never notice.
Strong pawrayers going out.

Lots of love is going to Siber-H and his mom and dad.

Your Sibe pals, Meashka, Zeus, and Kat, and our mom and pop and T.C.
3:01 pm on November 29th, 2014
Siber – we will send up special prayers for your dad. We have a couple of very close connections over the Bridge, and we will ask them to put in a good word for your dad to be tip top very soon.
As for all of you who sent such love and support, we thank you. The service today was everything that brother wanted, and then some. His boss spoke of his wonderful rapport he had with customers, and everyone smiled and nodded. Then one of his good friends spoke, and everyone cracked up and laughed out loud. The friend told a story that even we had never heard – how one time friend and brother went to a Joan Jett concert, and managed to get on the list to see her afterwards. Only one person was allowed in at a time, and friend went first. In a minute, he had his autograph and came out. Then brother went in. A few minutes later, friend heard uproarious laughter coming from behind the closed door. Then murmurings again, and then laughter again. It was 15 minutes before brother came out. When he did and friend asked him what had happened, brother grinned and said, “Well, Joan and I had a lot to talk about”. end of discussion, and no further explanation.
What a character.
And brother wanted a motorcade – well he got one. One of his boyhood friends is now the chief of police in our town. So there was a police escort of a 1/2 mile long motorcade.
It was perfect. And we know brother had a hell of a good time.
3:06 pm on November 29th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Sniff.
3:13 pm on November 29th, 2014
Love that we all wore Blue Jeans to Honor Brother.
3:15 pm on November 29th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Quite a send off!
3:22 pm on November 29th, 2014
Golinka!…I am so glad to hear the ceremony was such a success. Your brother was quite a character…sniffle!
3:23 pm on November 29th, 2014
Rio – yes, he was.
And it was good to hear people talking about him with a smile.
3:35 pm on November 29th, 2014
SiberH and Nikki. MIghty powerful thoughts and prayers from Chevy Chase are with you as well. Ditto everything that Rio and O’Howlers said.
Golinka — A great way to remember your brother. And I’m sure he did have a roaring good time too!
3:43 pm on November 29th, 2014
Wookie and Teddy’s Dad – ya gotta understand – there were plenty of times that brother saw those flashing blue lights in his rearview mirror. So to have the blue lights leading and following his motorcade – we think he must have gotten a huge kick out of that.
3:52 pm on November 29th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Great send-off from everyone who loved him.
3:54 pm on November 29th, 2014
Siber, take as long as you need away. We will be thinking of you and your mom and dad every day.
Amalia, what a nice ceremony for your brother.I know he had a big smile on his face as he watched the procession.
3:56 pm on November 29th, 2014
Tupper’s Mom, we are so happy that Brother’s celebration went well. And happy that you were smiling and laughing too. Now tuck yourself under the quilt and recover your energy. Good job!

It’s finally snowing in Anchorage! I hope AJ can break out the sled soon on his home turf. I’ve shoveled once and it will need it again when I get home.
I am off to an adoption clinic for the kittens. I am taking 5 and I picked up 3 from another foster to take to the clinic. I feel so sorry of the other foster kittens. They were dumped off in a box at a “big box” store and abandoned. No mother and kittens too young. So even though they have been fostered for almost 3 months they are still very shy and nervous. When young kittens don’t have their mother around to train them, they are insecure. Poor kittens. They were at a clinic last week and didn’t get adopted. Clinics are hard for shy kittens.
4:02 pm on November 29th, 2014
CHobbiti: Paws crossed for the adoption of the kittens.
4:52 pm on November 29th, 2014
Snowing!….Woooo Hoooo!…It’s snowing in Anchorage!….snort!
4:57 pm on November 29th, 2014
Snow! WoooHooo!

White shiitake in Anchorage and a “Farewell Freeway”! Let’s go snow, heck, GO SNOWHOOK!
5:34 pm on November 29th, 2014
Spence: I love that you are supporting an indie bookstore on small business Saturday.
I went shopping at a indie tool store. Fun stuff!
Staff was teaching quilting and sewing at the local indie craft store.
And of course we are all bidding on some one of a kind items at Snowhook’s Auction.
SiberH: More prayers coming to you from the Midwest. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers while you are gone from the blog.
Golinka: The whole service for your bro sounds great, especially the motorcade.
5:54 pm on November 29th, 2014
A and L and Gramps
Sleep well tonight. You did him proud, and he got to surprise you.
6:25 pm on November 29th, 2014
Siber-H we heard the sad news and are sending prayers for your Mom and Pop. Please take all the time you need and come back as soon as you can.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Amalia, I am glad there were people at the funeral who could help make it the event that brother wanted.
Dad is on the move so I will BBL.

Why does so much always go on around the holidays?
7:14 pm on November 29th, 2014
Whew! All Christmas decorations are up, including the 9-foot tree in the living room and the small tree in the foyer that is decorated with Rio’s friend’s beautiful gift cards. We even strung lights on our ~15-foot spruce outside. That spruce is known as “The Shiek and Shar Tree”, because it was the prize awarded for winning a late November paper chase on Shiek and Shar, 17 years ago. When they won it, it was presented in a small flower pot, decorated for Christmas with miniature gold balls and red bows. It is amazing that, not only did it survive, but is huge, and getting huger every year. Such a great memory of those wonderful horses. sniff
Hey! What is that red-nosed reindeer doing in Bear Corner?

One final note to warm your heart.
Brother was a very good hearted man who loved to do generous things. He anonymously donated to the food bank, he took care of a little old lady’s house without ever telling her what he was doing, he loved to give things to people.
So, we came home from the memorial gathering today with lots and lots of leftover food. What ever would we do with it?
Gramp’s church does a thing whenever there are 5 weekends in a month – they call it Blue Moon Dinner. On the 5th weekend, they go downtown and hand out soup and sandwiches to the homeless and needy.
We forgot that tonight is Blue Moon Dinner. So, tonight, my brother is feeding lots of people downtown. His generosity lives on.
Thanks Bro. Your heart was even bigger than your personality.

Blondie is very sound oriented. We have put 3 CD/tape/electronic song players around th great room. Turn on sound from an unusual place and Blondie goes ballistic. If nothing else, we HOH are a fun group!

Golinka!….That is a great story about your brother! It is truly amazing the way things work out sometimes…snuffle!
7:31 pm on November 29th, 2014
Earlier today, we heard ‘Born to be Wild’ playing ever so faintly. At first, we thought Wyatt was trying a new theme song what with Pancho and Lefty being taken. Then, we realized that it was coming from the Other Side of the Bridge. We sent four words through the Veil: Brother, turn it up.
7:35 pm on November 29th, 2014
Quite a day, all around. Pawrayers going to NM and SiberH’s family. Hoping AK snow is for-real! A&L and Gramps (and critters) love to y’all.

Even though I physically have 8 of my 9 kittens, technically 6 have been adopted. Will go to another clinic next Saturday.
Sadie and I have discussed her going on a diet so I am calculating how much of her treatie budget I can use for my auction bids.
Had to shovel again when I got home. I am thinking 4″-6″ fell today.
