In The Pipeline

Allergy drops for the nation within (instead of those annoying needles).

“And how about the blog makeover?” Spence says. “We’re now in A Fistful of Collars mode. The cover art is based on a scene in the book that ends with kind of a – “

“Shh,” says Admin.

Good morning! It is a beautiful, cool blue-sky morning here. It was 58 degrees when we got the horses in this morning! But Mom says it is going up to 90 today and 100 again tomorrow. Drat.

As for those drops, the only thing we know is that Sasha gets drops every night that she claims helps her to sleep.

Good Morning All! Beautiful morning, 58 degrees and a high of 77. Relief

I have not read the last of last night’s comments, will be doing that at some point. I am hoping today will be the day I wash the Element out with a hose! Too much going on the last two days to get it done.

Wish me luck (and I’m knocking on wood).

Oh, and today is the day YSAS will be using the trailer to get made up and then wait in AC while they get ready for his scenes. One of his friends said they should turn the AC up as far as it goes so he looks cold enough for his death!

    Good Morning All!

Hey, no italics! And don’t I get any credit for seeing the new background yesterday!?! And I’ll find out soon enough!!!!!

It is a beautiful morning here in Westchester….72 and sunny, blues skies. Back to the dog days tomorrow.

Sob! Alex Rodriguez got his hand broken by an 88 mile an hour pitch.

We like the new blog background too, and we want to acknowledge that it was Rose who saw it coming ever so slowly. Good eye, Rose.

Hi B.Stover, I read Coffee With a Canine every once in a while. Writers talk about their dogs. I like it, but not a steady dose.

Poor A-Rod. Not good for my team either. My granddaughter had the same thing happen to her at bat but not with an 88 mph pitch. She’s a pitcher in softball and is very good. We hope maybe a college scholarship. Her broken hand was serious in that regard.

    10:48 am on July 25th, 2012

Rio: You may only lick me if I may pull your tail.

Howlers: “Double crust” simply means that you have a bottom crust, the filling, and then a top crust. (Apple pie and blueberry pie have double crusts also.)

  31. Tupper and Gilly
    10:52 am on July 25th, 2012

Bee – we didn’t know Michigan was known for cherries. Are they a particular type?

  32. B.Stover
    10:59 am on July 25th, 2012

T&G: Michigan has extremely good cherries–both sweet and sour. We have a cherry festival every year in, I think, Traverse City. We also have very good strawberries (in June) and blueberries, and then apples in the fall.

    Good Morning Everyone!

I am having internet problems so if I disappear for a few days…don’t worry. I may have to get the blasted phone company out to fix it and we all know how much fun that is.

    Welcome back Masquers and Bear.

  35. Barb & Maggie
    11:17 am on July 25th, 2012

Good morning all. Yes, Michigan has wonderful cherries. Barb went to Traverse City once to Grand Traverse Bay Resort. Wonderful place! Cherry orchards are big around there. The dried ones are out of this world. And cherry wine is good, but a little sweet for Barb’s taste.

Things are moving along. Do you know how many places you have to contact for address changes!

    11:19 am on July 25th, 2012

Thank Dog, I don’t have allergies, but mom does.

If Rose hadn’t of noticed the new background yesterday, it might have taken me days. I am slow about stuff like that, but it makes life easier because I just don’t see advertisements on the internet.

Wolfie, Audrey is Wookie’s girlfrind, not mine. Don’t I have enough trouble with the ladies.

Yankee fans, I am sorry about A-Rod’s hand. I hate to see any ballplayer injured. It is a tougher game than it sometimes looks like.

  37. Masquers

Siber: Oh, no…not you too! Paws crossed for a quick resolution of the issues causing the internet problems.

Rose: A Mariner was traded to the Yankees.

  38. OleyHowlers
    11:40 am on July 25th, 2012

O.K. So sometimes, cherry pies don’t have the top crust, right? We don’t eat pies much around here so we are not very knowledgeable. (did we misspell that? does that get us extra slices?)

  39. B.Stover
    11:45 am on July 25th, 2012

We are getting ready to take off for the afternoon. Have to meet Kelly in Rockford with a car full of junk, otherwise known as fine antiques. Barb is giving Kelly some stuff she doesn’t have room for (sorry Bee). Plus she has to pick up the 4 baby chicks that they have played with since last week. They are going to their final destination in Wisconsin on Sat. A little surprised that all 4 made it thru the week!

Wookie, how is that newest David Rosenfelt book? We have read the first 9 and loved them. Haven’t been reading anything for the past two weeks. No time.

Did anyone read the Andy Carpenter book where he is defending the football player accused of murder? There was a big error in that book and Barb emailed the author. He responded and is super nice. She is on his auto email now so she got a notice that the new book was coming out earlier this month. He has a great sense of humor – said the crowds were already on the way to the bookstores so to be careful, it was going to get ugly out there.

Oley, Barb here – We are closing on this hme 8/16 and on the new purchase 8/17, but not moving till 8/25.

The new house is in Woodstock, Il, (Groundhog Day movie location). It is a cute 3 bed.,2 bath ranch home, only 12 yrs old. 2 car attached garage and full basement, so there is a lot of storage. Needs some updating and decorating, but nothing major. Small fenced yard. Home is in a subdivision at the edge of town, and about 3 miles from Josh and Jess’s new home outside of Woodstock. Their new place is on 2 1/2 acres and they will fence the back yard, so there will be room for Maggie to go over there and run around. They will be keeping 6 chickens in a coop over there. We will also be 30 min. from both Kelly’s home and their lake house. About 45 minutes from daughter Shannon’s apartment. We are currently 2+ hours from everyone.

It will be an adjustment for Maggie, as she has always lived here on the farm. She will miss doing chores, and we will need to work on the barking, as she considers it her duty to “alert” to any perceived dangers.

It is a little bittersweet, but we have lived the country dream, and now it is time to move on. The safety, work load, and close proximity to family definitely gives it more on the plus side.

Barb, that sounds like a great house for you, and wonderful that you will be so close to family.

Maggie, this will be totally new and different for you, but being the person-oriented doggie you are, you will enjoy all the down time with Barb now that she won’t be so busy with chores. You and she can do lots of walks and rides now!

B.Stover, YSAS has a bullet hole in his head. I told him he had finally figured out why he gets headaches. He is hoping for a 19 hour day! Or 16! Or 10!
He gets bumps in pay then.

Natasha, it is safe to say that nobody has ever accused Meashka of being a Lady. 🙂

Well, they hadn’t added all the blood at that point. Have to do that when he’s in position. Lucy Lu is going to be Watson. I’ve seen Holmes but can’t remember his name right now. I know the actor said he was going to add a “darkness” to Holmes. Hmm, I would imagine he’s never read the original books.

Melanie, you have to do something with YSAS. He can’t go around looking like such a bum. That won’t help his career.

Siber girls, especially the redheaded ones, are not ladylike. That is a compliment. They are hunters that can bring down a racoon or a grounhog faster than a speeding bullet. Once a redheaded Siber girl gets him, the critter never gets up again.

I know Princess Sam. I keep telling him that he needs to get wonderfluffed, but he just keeps saying stuff like, “That wouldn’t be right for the part. Mom, that wouldn’t be the right thing to do. Momager, I know what I’m doing.” sigh.

I am off to bed. I’ve done way too much for the last two weeks and my body is letting me know. At least the Element is clean.

Siber-H, I’ll miss you! MollyPop’s Mom, glad your back.

Dawson, glad you like “Gibs!” He’s a favorite of mine.

Natasha: Of course you may have some cherry pie.

Hey, y’all! Mom just got home from the busy-busy library. She had a storytime today, based on the Origami Yoda books by Tom Angleberger. Mom says they’re really cool books by a really cool guy — she met him at the same book festival where she met SQ and PA.

Mom did an OY storytime last year, and her boss asked her to do another one because the first OY book is on the South Carolina book awards list, so a lot of the kids here are reading it this summer. So today she had 18 kids — and some parents — learning how to make Origami Yoda and Darth Paper and the Fortune Wookie puppets. When Mom found out that Tom Angleberger has a new book coming out in a couple weeks, she wrote to him to see if he could give her an excerpt to read to the kids — he said he couldn’t do that, but he sent her a bunch of stuff, including some original drawings and “tatoos” to give to all the kids!

B&M: Mom was thinking you have some grandkids who would be the right age for the Origami Yoda books!

I just caught up on the last few days — boy, it’s a good thing Mom didn’t turn the computer on for me last night. I’m not sure I could have talked in italics that long!

Bee: Fast ball! Now can I have some cherry pie? (Just make sure it’s totally Pitt-less!)

Rest!…No rest for the wicked as they say. My friend got home and immediately had to make a huge pasta salad….snort!…Beau and I stook at the ready to clean up anything that dropped and plenty always drops…heh!…Then she made my favorite tuna salad….wheeze!…I got my share already! Now everything is in the fridge chillin’ but I bet her mother pulls it all out and eats right now…sniff!sniff!…She said she was hungry but wanted all these salads that are work intensive…grunt!…My friend is going to wait because she needs a glass or 4 of Fetzers after the day she’s had so far…snorkel!

We are back from our road trip. That is a scary picture of YSAS! Yikes!

MPM, If I remember correctly,I believe that throughout the book they talk about the deceased being stabbed in the chest. Then on about page 140-145 (?) the attorney is questioning the accused and talks about the deceased being shot with a single shot to the back of the head. When I emailed Rosenfelt he said it was entirely his fault. He had intended one form of murder, then changed it but missed one part. He was very gracious and didn’t act like I was a crazy person.

Barb!…Thats the way to pay attention to detail or murder weapon, as the case may be…snort!…I wonder how many other “Barbs” emailed him…heh!heh!…Spencer would never make a mistake like that in his most excellant books…wheeze!

    8:55 pm on July 25th, 2012

Wasn’t there a crazy lady like Barb in one of PA’s books? He was a writer in NYC, and some fanatic reader contacted him…he ended up in the southwest (of course).

  118. Riö –The Evil Pug
    8:59 pm on July 25th, 2012

OMDawg!….Howlers, that is one of me and SiberH’s most favorite books by the Charming Mr. Abrahams…snort!…..A Kat was involved in that one too!…heh!heh!heh!…Me and my friend laughed out loud during the sequence of events that lead up to that “fan” finding the author which of course starts a whole chain of krazy events…heh!heh!…What a great book!..I believe the title is In Their Wildest Dreams…wheeze!

  119. Riö –The Evil Pug

    9:10 pm on July 25th, 2012

Profile!….heh!…I have a definite image of the kind of person that critic was in the book and Barb does not fit the profile at all…snort!…That lady was over the top. Remember how the author takes his name and address out of some public book of authors…chorkel!…I can’t remember what he called it now….heh!

Their Wildest Dreams is one of the best thrillers ever written and one of the funniest. I start laughing just thinking about it.

We are being called to bed now, but before we go we want tell youse about the effects of that horrible storm on Monday night. We had so much food left last night that we had not noticed. This evening when we went up to our garden to get some tomatoes, we discovered to our horror that the tops and many branches of our plants were gone. Others were laid over and broken. We did our best to trim off broken branches, and re-secure falling down parts. We are heartbroken, but hoping that they will be o.k.and keep producing our longed-for tomatoes.

The cat incident was not the fun krazy part of the story. It was terrible.

Good night. And Barb, we were just teasing you. We think it is very cool that you emailed the writer and he emailed you back.

  126. Riö –The Evil Pug

Incident!….The thing with that Kat Incident was it had already happened…sniff!…It wasn’t like we had to experience it, it was a by-gone deal…grunt!…No, it was not one of the funny parts of the story, but it had a purpose in defining a personality…wheeze!

Barb is not crazy I tell you, nosiree, she is not!

We are not offended, Oley, we are laughing with you. And, BTW, Barb did not tell her kids she wrote to Rosenfelt. They would just laugh and roll their eyes. Like, who does that, or mom has too much spare time on her hands.

    Night all.

Barb&Magpie: You did the right thing contacting Rosenfelt about the error in the storyline.

The Fan is in our queue at the library. In Their Wildest Dreams sounds good. But lots of reading to do… The Night Circus and the John Grisham book Dawson just sent…Playing for Pizza.
Also trying to familiarize ourselves with the Kindle. It has been charged…now if we can only remember that pesky password for the connection to the wifi network.

Signing off for tonight – Bear

    10:19 pm on July 25th, 2012

Before we go for good tonight, Barb did tell Mr. Rosenfelt that she is part of an internet literary group connected to Chet and Bernie, and that many of the members love his Andy Carpenter books. Plus he has a dog rescue organization, and he probably assumed that we are animal lovers. That is probably why he wrote back to her, rather than for her superior sleuthing abilities.
    Now good night for real.

Game!…Rightly so, dear SiberH! Rightly so….heh!…Very important news and information…wheeze!cough!…We just got back from the longest walk she has EVER taken both of us at one time…gasp!…Beau did fine and did not collapse. I needed to sniff every new corner and twig of this new walk by golly so it took even longer than expected but we are back and it is only the 4th inning so we are all feeling LUCKY! And Hot! And tired! AND WINNING!…WOOOOOO!…snorkel!

Exercise!…Even I have to admit that Beau has come a long way muscle wise…sniff!…The first time she took him for a walk he could hardly make it a block away from my house…snort!…Now he can go as far as a mile I bet…wheeze!cough!

It is the top of the seventh. The Rockies still lead by 3 runs.
The Rockies can win this game!
