Welcome to the Friends gallery – frustrated beachgoers:

Dad read to me ALL the Chet books, so when I looked at this sign, those words made me mad.

Our canine friend in the photo above doesn’t look very happy and we don’t blame him.
None of us in the Nation Within like to see this kind of sign…Especially at the Beach.
The exception being Siber-H…he probably wouldn’t be at the Beach in the first place. Heh.

    Morning all.
We don’t like those signs either – they have them at the beach we go to in September. But we ignore them since there are so few people on the beach at that time if year.
And if we get caught, we just tell them the Corgis are furry surfboards.

Heading out the door for set up day at the show. Unloading the truck, hauling crates and unpacking. Yippee. Oh well, gotta be done.

Good morning, BSD (the early) and everyone! We don’t, Don’t DON’T, DO NOT like that sign. Why not set an area aside for the nation within?
Lots of BOOMERS last night but no rain. The idiot peeps sat in the screen room playing a game whilst we smart ones kept the underside of the bed warm.
Going to the adopted son’s later for a late Father’s Day lunch 🙂
Have a non-threatening, thunder-free, thought-provoking Thursday. (Choose any or all.)

Good morning all, and have a great day.

HOH, we will vote for thunder free Thursday, but not likely.

T & G’s folks, good luck at your shew.

Now off to work for Barb. On the way home she will pick up her sparkly clean, air conditioned car.

All beaches should have a dog friendly area, in our opinion.

Good morning! Mom is planning to take all 3 of us to work tomorrow. Oh joy.
That is a great photo, with one of our guys looking right at that awful sign. Mom used to take Boris to the Outer Banks, where Members of the Nation are welcome on the beaches. We three have not (yet) been so lucky.

T&G, good luck toyour mom for a really big shew.

Mom says that when she lives on SoCal with the “Mile of Mutts” they would go to Del Mar, CA and Dog Beach. Sounds like fun. Better yet, we here in the Hixson Herd of Hounds go to Dog Park in Greenway Park. Acres and acres (whatever those are) to romp and play in safely. An obstacle and agility course and a creek for the wet life are there too. Life is good.

We just avoided what would have been a $400 dentist bill. Loulou still had her baby fang which was right behind her big girl fang. It was going to have to come out which meant surgery. Yesterday I found the tooth on the floor. Who’s a good girl!

B: Interesting Article? My attention was on that upsetting Beach sign and I didn’t see it.
Look, it says here there is even a VP of Canine Communications and lots of treats, with our drink of choice, cool cool water.
Say, this is a company we all would like to work for.

Hounds: Southern CA is definitely more Dawg Friendly. I used to romp at Dog Beach in Coronado. My best friend and I were even on the news one time when a local TV station did a piece on our favorite spot.

O’Howlers: The 3 of youse..at work..at one time..together? This we will have to see.

Barb&Magpie: In Dog We Trust…now that you mention it…the print is different, but we like it.

HOH, BSD–California is still the land of nearly 100 dog beaches (but it’s reasonable, given the long coastline. Here’s a link to rating them in case anyone wants to visit. Miss Pretty, Edgar and Conan don’t seem interested in water unless it’s warm and involves having their faces washed and getting massaged.
    http://www.bringfido.com/attraction/beaches/state/california/
Louou–Aren’t you clever? What a good girl!
Tupper’s Mama–I sympathize about the lfiting and loading, but it IS a day away (should I ask about the brother situation?)
I have a meeting tomorrow, but I think I’ll call and ask about bringing the dogs first lest Miss Pretty discover a taste for book bindings…
    Happy Day to all…

Wose: You asked the question of the Thieves, but being a connoisseur of fish heads, I will answer. We eat gills to tail fin. The Thieves love fish, but they devour instead of savor. Me? I like to let my fish head get a little rip. The eyeballs are a tiny explosion of gushy flavor. Delish!

He’ll deny he ate it, but the marshmallow and chocolate in his beard doesn’t lie. Uh…have I said to much about the Giant?

I got to go to my Lady’s office last week. The Giant was in town getting dog food and wouldn’t you know it, I was co-pilot on the trip. I insisted I go into the office building with him. There were potted plants and trees everywhere at her work. All were begging to be marked ‘Elim.’ Each time I thought about thinking about lifting my leg, they would call my name. Maybe next time…

After a lifetime of hearing about it, I decided it was time for me to tackle the “Satyricon” of Petronius. I’m sorry to report that it really is fairly salacious (unless I got a poor translation). I liked the old Fellini movie version, but this is just…just…(words failing me)

Mark Twain mus think dogs don’t have any filters. They just say whatever pops into their minds without thinking first? I don’t think so.

HOH, that spread sounds good to us. Nothing that fancy for us tonight. Have half of a Chilpolte Grill chicken bowl left from lunch – going to throw some more lettuce and onion at it, and call it a day.

    Macy, You are welcome.

Diane, No, rhubarb is good without another fruit added. We do a fabulous rhubarb crunch, which looks similar to Staff’s crisp, except I think her’s has oatmeal in the topping. Rhubarb pie is to die for!

Finally settled in at the hotel, with time to catch up.
We got to the show site early, and got to set up in a wonderful space. It was hard work, but at least it was in air conditioning.
As we left the show site to get to the hotel and relax, a certain Storyteller who shall remain nameless gasped and said “oh, no!”. Terrified that he had hurt his back, I asked what was wrong. He had just realized that he had forgotten his garment bag with ALL HIS SHOW CLOTHES IN IT.
OK, I was glad it wasn’t his back, but really. All his clothes for a 3 day show at a fancy schmancy museum.
So instead of relaxing at the hotel, we had to go find a department store and find him affordable, dressy clothes. Grrrrrrr.
When we finally did get back to the hotel, I found that he had taken my cell charger out of the suitcase. Meant to put it back, but forgot. Double grrrrr.
    Oh well
Bluekat – thank dawg you dad is OK, but do keep an eye on him.
    LuLu – good baby puppy!
Staff – your guest has some talent there. What lovely colors she used.
HOH – wow! That luncheon sounded fabulous. I would love to know more about broasted potatoes. How are they different from oven browned?
Jackson – we think we will stick with visiting Barb, BSD or HOH for dinner. We will just come see you for tummies. No snacks, thanks anyway.

And now, off to bed. The crack of dark comes early.

Barb this crisp really used much less sugar than any I looked at. None in the rhubarb at all! Really I wondered at it. My rhubarb is red and supposedly sweeter than the green but still. There is 3/4 cup of brown sugar in the crisp part. Here is a link to the recipe. I thought is was easy fast and delish.
