In Dog Years? (Revised)
“We taking the day off?” says Spence.
“On what basis?” says Admin.
“You know.”
“Do what you like,” says Admin. He hits the switch, gets the grindstone turning.
“How about,” says Spence, raising his voice over the noise, “we say something about how much all the people at the blog mean to us?”
“Absolutely,” says Admin. “Mind if I take the rest of the coffee?”
“But I haven’t had any y – “
Welcome T-Bone, Allie, Tiny Tina, A/C Lover, Mississippi River Dude.
And Happy Birthday down Wookie’s way (if we got the day right).(Which we didn’t – it’s the 30th. So happy birthday twice!)

Happy Birthday Mr. A. Hey, I looked up your bio and you are older than I thought. Almost as old as Barb! Your look great. Must be all the tennis and good, healthy living! May you have many, many more.
8:36 am on June 28th, 2011
Have a very happy birthday Spence. Raising a cup of lovely Colomela coffee to you. (I’ll share it in virtual reality!)
8:36 am on June 28th, 2011
So Barb&MagPie, how old is our fearless author?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Peter Spencer Abrahams Quinn!!!
The day is sunny and beautiful. I hope it’s the same at the Cape.
8:37 am on June 28th, 2011
Happy Birthday SQPA!
(whispering) I think Wookie’s birthday is on the 30th. Because If I remember correctly, it is the day before Mom’s birthday. Is this a great week for birthdays or what?
My boys are doing fantastic! They have some very nice girlfriends who are ready to change their lives also, so we are spending lots of fun family time together.
8:38 am on June 28th, 2011
Howdy B.Stover! I need to get downstairs so I can have some caffeine . . .
8:39 am on June 28th, 2011
What great news Wölfie!
8:56 am on June 28th, 2011
Good Morning to Everyone!
Happy Bithday SQPA, and many more!
Enjoy your coffee B!
Wolfie: I have been thinking about you and your boys. I’m thrilled to hear this great news!
Siber-H: I heard about Los Alamos this morning. Are you in any danger?
9:02 am on June 28th, 2011
SQPA: In dogs years, 448…Really? You look very young.
Me: In dog years, 364. Yikes!
9:07 am on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie, Great news. Good girlfriends can mean a lot as far as being a positive influence. Thank dog they got rid of that 14 years old bad news one.
Melanie, Hope we don’t get in trouble for spilling the beans, but according to his/their bio, birthdate is June 28, 1947. He looks about 10 years younger.
Yes, the Wookster will be 10 years old on the 30th.
9:26 am on June 28th, 2011
But Rose, if you go the other way . . . I’m only 8!
Well technically Barb&MagPie, you did not spill the beans! You didn’t ACTUALLY say how old our Fearless Author is!
9:30 am on June 28th, 2011
Asteroid 2011 MD flew by us without hitting us! It was about 10 meters long and came 12,000 km near us. What they did discover is that it’s spinning. Pretty cool. The earth’s gravity has slingshotted it in a different direction.
From your science geek
9:31 am on June 28th, 2011
One is as old as one feels folks. Years have nothing to do with it.
SH: I hope your friend Molly is okay.
For the Desserts and Baked Goods section I’ve used a quotation from Keats’ “Ode to a Grecian Urn” for the epigraph (I’m thinking of the words “sweet” or “sweets”: “Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter.” Not sure I’m completely satisfied but can’t think of anything else. The most famous, of course, is Hamlet’s “Sweets to the sweet: farewell!” but he’s saying it at Ophelia’s funeral.
9:41 am on June 28th, 2011
Spencer!….Always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to getting some coffee!…heh!… Say, do you think he was including me too when he almost said how much the people at the blog mean to him and Admin? ….grunt!
Older!…Happy Birthday Peter Abrahams!!!…snort!….I will have to look for that card I wanted to send. I think it has been packed away somewhere……hmmmmphf!
9:41 am on June 28th, 2011
Siber-H – there was some scary stuff on tv last night about Los Alamos. They were talking about safety and how the big water tube got accidentally pierced by work equipment so it’s empty. They still maintain that the containment is intact so NO PROBLEM. Of course.
9:51 am on June 28th, 2011
A Very Happy Birthday to our Beloved Author(s)
(Admin be nice for a change)
Good Morning Everyone
Have a Wonderful Day

Happy birthday SQPA and good morning to all.
The sun is shining despite rainy forecasts.
Not a cloud in the sky.
Wolfie: yip yip yippee!
Siber H: Stay safe, our friend. Any news from your Molly?
10:06 am on June 28th, 2011
Happy B Day Mr A
Looking good there
for so many trips
around the Sun.
10:08 am on June 28th, 2011
Happy birthday to PSQA!
Also a happy belated birthday to Derek Jeter who turned 37 two days ago – on the 26th. Go Yankees!
10:10 am on June 28th, 2011
Molly!….How could you say Happy Birthday to a die-hard Red Sox fan and in the same post say “Those Damned Yankees?”….snort!…Or sumthing like that…heh!
10:18 am on June 28th, 2011
Rio – the sad truth would make any Red Sox fan very happy. Jeter is 37 years old!
10:22 am on June 28th, 2011
Spence:
Just got back with some cups of the brew.
I will be Happy to share a couple with you.
10:35 am on June 28th, 2011
Siber-H: Saying prayers for your Husky friend, Molly. I hope she is much improved today. This same high fever thing happened to me a few years ago and had mom very worried, but everything turned out okay. As always, we pray for the safety of you and everyone in the areas of those terrible fires.
Wolfie: Thank you for the update on your boys. That is, indeed, wonderful news! It is the best of times that we are able to spend with our families. Barb is right – the girlfriends can make a big difference in their lives.
10:48 am on June 28th, 2011
Admin! Spencer!….Here it is!…snort!….Here is your birthday card!…heh!…Be sure to watch the “Bloopers”….chorkel!

Nice card, Rio!
Hey! Has anyone checked out the cool new feature in the comments section? For all the Double Dawsons out there, apparently of which I am one since that is how I “stumbled” upon it. It alerts you to a double posting. Thank dog. Now some of us are protected from our own foolishness!
11:09 am on June 28th, 2011
Bear Spirit Dog: That has been around since the Blog was overhauled. On my computer, almost every time I post it tells me, “Duplicate comment detected”. Thank dog, they are usually wrong.
11:11 am on June 28th, 2011
Barb: In your Dill Potato Salad recipe I’ve added this sentence at the end: Slices of hard boiled egg may be arranged on top.
11:12 am on June 28th, 2011
Happy Birthday to our all-time favorite author, PA/SQ!!!!
I’ll be back later to say more. We are waiting on word about Mollly. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes for Molly.
This is too funny…mom got the driver’s side mirror of my truck stuck in the side of the garage door. We have to deal with that.
I am laughing so hard I can barely type. Mom is not laughing.
No, I am not in any danger from the fire but radioactive waste might be another story. I learned this morning that the Lab has “temporarily” stored thousands of drums of radioative waste above ground. They are assuring us that everything is secure. uh huh
11:16 am on June 28th, 2011
Dawson: Sadly, never have seen it before. So what does that say about my observation skills? However, the one obvious thing I did notice today was a long hesitation before posting. One would have to actually hit the submit button twice to post the comment (which WE never would do, right?)
11:24 am on June 28th, 2011
Bee – for a quote for the dessert section, how about the original of the ever-popular one: “Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.”- Ernestine Ulmer
Maybe not as literary as Keats or Will, but certainly apropo.
11:29 am on June 28th, 2011
Dessert!….My friend says “Desserts” is “Stressed” spelt backwards….snort! …She uses this excuse a lot to eat dessert….sniff!…Birthday Cake is for all occassions though…heh!
11:31 am on June 28th, 2011
Molly!….Almost all of your Yankees are old farts, relatively speaking….snort!snort! ….What will be left of your team when they all retire all at the same time?….heh!
11:33 am on June 28th, 2011
Basil here. There have been a lot of jokes lately about my smartness. Let me just tell you all: I am no dumb bunny! Oh, wait a minute, I’m a Kat so of course I’m not a bunny. Nevermind.
But, if I’m not so smart, how come nobody else on this whole blog noticed that Spence and Peter have the SAME BIRTHDAY, huh?? No wonder they usually go to book signings together. They probably have a lot in common.
Happy Birthday Spence! Happy Birthday Peter!
(breaking news – by amazing coincedence – ADMIN HAS THE SAME BIRTHDAY TOO! Happy Birthday Admin!)
So NOW who’s the dumb one around here, huh??
11:35 am on June 28th, 2011
Sage here.
sigh…..
Hard to believe we’re brothers.
11:36 am on June 28th, 2011
Happy birthday to Spence/PA and thanks for the birthday wishes for me. As a couple of Plunderers have correctly noted, I still have two days to go to make it officially official, but as we are having a group celebration tonight, that is just fine.
Also, without spilling the beans, I have provided a musical link commemorating this very special birthday for Spence/PA — that terrific Beatle’s song – – Will You Still Love Me When I’m 448. Tootles for now. Wookie

Liz: What does the “g” refer to in 250g dark chocolate? (Grams?)
Thank you regarding the picture of the coffeecake. It’s easy to make.
11:45 am on June 28th, 2011
I love the quotations from T&G and Rio’s Friend. I’ve put those instead of the Keats.
Love that Beatles song!
11:49 am on June 28th, 2011
O.Howlers: Thank you for your post from last night re the new law passed in British Columbia. It is very sad it took a situation such as that for things to change.
Magpie: Looking good at the top of the page!
Melanie: We will be putting our thinking caps on soon and will see what happens. Getting kind of a late start this morning. “Waiter, More cafe por favor!”
11:53 am on June 28th, 2011
Molly is out of the hospital. It looks as if it is a nasty bacterial infection probably caused by eating birds. She is on meds and respoding well to them.. She and her mom stopped by to see us for a few minutes on their way home.
She was only left unsupervised for one hour at the hospital while the doctors were changing shifts. She managed in that time to get out of a triple latched kennel, move her food and water bowl and blanket to a corner, and meet the new vet at the backdoor as he was coming to work. She is back to normal!
11:59 am on June 28th, 2011
Liz: I wonder if “paper patty cases” are the same as paper baking cups? I think I’ll leave your measurements the same as you have given them but I’ll put the “American” word for things like Milk Arrowroot biscuits (graham crackers) in parantheses just as I’ve done in this sentence. Okay? (Love it!!)
12:02 pm on June 28th, 2011
Siber-H: That clever Molly is a girl after my own heart. What a dog!
B: We also like the quotations from Rio and T&G.
12:05 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie, Very good news about your boys! We sure want happiness and peace for all of you.
Alice, Thanks for flying in to pick me up. I’ll be at the airport and ready.
12:06 pm on June 28th, 2011
Basil: Could it be because they are Triplets? snicker
Wookie: The Beatles Birthday Card was puuurrfect!
12:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
Anyone: Liz has indicated on her recipe that Milk Arrowroot biscuits are very plain vanilla biscuits. Should I put “vanilla wafers” rather than graham crackers in parentheses in that recipe?
12:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
Melanie – is the pack driving to the party tonight? Mama has to go work for the Crazy Lady, but she says we can ride along with you if someone “responsible” is driving.
We figure that whoever is driving is gonna be responsible for wahtever happens. tee hee
12:23 pm on June 28th, 2011
Who is the author of the “Miniature Pecan Tarts”?
12:40 pm on June 28th, 2011
B.Stover: Arrowroot cookies are available in any supermarket in the states. They are not vanilla wafers or graham crackers. Sometimes sold in the baby food aisle.
A box of 8 squares of Bakers chocolate is 225 grams of chocolate.
227 grams is 8 ounces. Yes, muffin cups for cupcakes are the same as paper patty cases.
SiberH: Hooray for Molly – now quit eating those birds!
Oh hey! I’m the author of the Miniature Pecan Tarts.
12:42 pm on June 28th, 2011
G&BB: There is a word or words missing at the edge of your rhubarb pie recipe: Should it be “Sprinkle bottom of pie plate with flour. Place bottom crust in plate”? Also it sound as though you mix the rhubarb filling on top of the bottom crust…correct?
12:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
Siber-H: are you sure her name isn’t Houdini?
Riö, great card!
Tupper and Gilly, I’m driving the van tonight. After I get back from the doctor’s. Do you need a pick up? We’re bringing gummies!
12:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
Thank you Dawson. I’ll just leave it arrowroot biscuits then with nothing in parentheses. And I’ll put your name on the tart recipe.
12:51 pm on June 28th, 2011
B.Stover is making me hungry. I was thinking about eating dessert first but instead I’m having a T-bone steak in honor of the birthday boys (I use that term very loosely). Here’s to a healthy Wookie and many more birthdays for SQPA.
12:56 pm on June 28th, 2011
Yes, Molly, happy birthday to # 2 Derek Jeter. I am looking at his Hits Leader banner right now. It hangs in a place of honor in my cubicle.
Rio: For old farts, the Yankees still beat the Rockies 2 out of 3 games! HEH!
1:02 pm on June 28th, 2011
Goodness 50 posts already! This is going to be some lovely party. I have to go see a dentist for a checkup but I will be back.
I just learned my new computer has Book Place in it.
“Book Place, powered by Blio, offers a rich, interactive ereading experience that maintains the book’s original layout and features unique innovations such as highlighting, note taking, and hyperlinking. Select books can be read aloud using the text-to-speech feature.” (toshiba)

Happybirthday,Spence!
1:04 pm on June 28th, 2011
Bee, I loved the “paper patty cases”. I was not sure what the arrowroot biscuits were either. We were with you in thinking vanilla wafers, since those are sometimes used in crusts.
Barb is heading off for a few hours at the office. Beautiful day here today. BBL
1:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Yikes!
Siber H: Now I’m really worried about you with the nuclear plant being threatened by fire.
The man in the house made it home late last night, driving around the long way to avoid the washed out roads. He brought me a magnet from Jasper that says, “Do Not Feed The Bears” and there is a bear wearing moose antlers holding a sign that says, “I am not a bear”.
And the words in quotation marks below, “Trust Me”. I say never trust someone who says “trust me”.
I have a nice full belly now. Steak and eggs and dessert. I have got to get off my bum and take a walk! Somebody push me.
1:35 pm on June 28th, 2011
Melanie – yes, please. Swing by and pick us up for the party. Mama is packing her cakes in a padlocked cooler and will leave the key for you. Not sayin’ that the Newfs would eat the cakes before the party, its just, you know, a little precautionary measure.
The only little glitch in the system is that the Kats want to go too. Will the Newfs eat them? (what if we rub them with bacon grease?)
tee hee
1:41 pm on June 28th, 2011
Tupper and Gilly: You stay out of that bacon grease!
Oley Howlers: Thanks for the link to IS Foundation about the new law in British Columbia to protect animals. I hadn’t seen that in the news but it was soooo overdue.
1:42 pm on June 28th, 2011
Awww Dawson – we NEVER get to have any fun…..
1:50 pm on June 28th, 2011
Happy b-day, SQ!! Hope you have a very special day!! Be sure to rest up for the party tonight. You know the plunderers. Always out of control but lots of good eats!
B, we don’t have the recipes handy but that sounds right. We do remember that Mom’s Mom did not mix the rhubarb into anything but just dumped it in a high pile in the pie plate. We’ll be able to double check tonight.
Way to go, Molly! Sounds like a very smart dog. SiberH, stay safe!
1:55 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hmmmm. And the Pack enjoys herbs on their bacon grease . . . must think on this.
Siber-H, and just yesterday you were saying that you trusted the government . . .
1:59 pm on June 28th, 2011
Getting ready to go to the doc. Bummer.
Anyhoo, after the auction and the cookbook . . . I think Rebecca’s going to be run off her feet.
Rebecca, I can sew. Don’t usually like to, but I could sew booties if you sent me a link to a pattern and what kind of materials. Of course, these would be booties for the team, not for you.
Whatchathink?
3:01 pm on June 28th, 2011
Bee, I think I forgot to say thank you for changing the recipe, so THANK YOU!
3:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
You’re welcome Barb.
I’m going to the new Woody Allen movie, Midnight in Paris. I’ll be back for the party.
3:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
I learned later today that it is plutonium waste that is stored in those thousands of drums. Yark!! I honestly believe (famous last words) that everything will be fine with the Lab. They have had 11 years since the Cerro Grande Fire to think about this and prepare for it. Thank all of you for your concern.
Wookie, the fire is in Bandelier National Monument now, and in Frijoles Canyon, but they don’t know about damage yet.
3:29 pm on June 28th, 2011
Greetings my friends. Ve are so sorry to have deprived you of Natasha’s company and visdom for so long. Have been on secret mission in Vashington to help uncover plot by geeky politician to expose his whole truth – such as it vas…
Ve also regret to say ve cannot join party tonight. So, ve offer this thought to Herbal Kats. In order to avoid messy situation vith Newf Pack, Natasha is sending you disguises used by travelers to royal vedding. Is easy vay to blend – even Rio passed for civilized doggie in disguise. Vas hard to fold Siber into small package, but little Kats should have no problem.
Enjoy party – save some balls of salmon for Natasha.
4:11 pm on June 28th, 2011
Dawson. When you said “Trust Me” that reminded Barb of this guy she knew in a past lifetime. He used to always say “I wouldn’t lie to you”, and guess what? You are right, he always did! Funny, the things people say.
Natasha, Sorry you can’t make the party. I will save you some balls of salmon, and balls of anything else, but TRUST ME ON THIS, most of our 4 legged pals don’t have any. Tee hee, I wouldn’t lie to you!
4:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
Awe, Nattie, I’m sorry that you can’t come tonight. I think you are bee-you-ti-ful!
4:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
Teddie went to the vet and is on medication for her arthritis.
She takes glue something (long word) and chron something (another long word) but Mom is wondering if anybody can reccommend something to help her. We are not aware of any doggie accupuncturists in our town. Thanks.
4:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Mr.Husky,
I have heard those barrels of radioactive waste are stored in TENTS! Well, they are calling them ‘fabric buildings.’ Yes, that should be safe! However they said they were on concrete and very little flammable vegetation is near them.
However they also state…
“But we do have concerns. One is the fact that (for)over 6 decades the Lab has blown up a lot of uranium and depleted uranium in dynamic high explosives experiments in the general area in front of the fire. We don’t know to what extent the shrapnel or debris has been cleaned up and could possibly be aerosolized.”

Wolfie, Happy Birthday to your Mom, and great news about the boys.
Wookie, Happy Birthday soon.
PSQA Happy Birthday all of you! Even Admin….

Rose – Here it is! The picture of Rio sound asleep sitting up.

4:41 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie, Mom has had dogs on glucosamine chondroitin before. I can’t think of anything else that is ‘natural’ besides accupuncture. The vets have good pain meds for arthritis. Did the vet send some of this home for Teddie? If so, it should help, but if not, there are other drugs on the market that can be tried.
A gentle walk at the dogs own speed is suppose to help.
5:01 pm on June 28th, 2011
Staff, Oh dog, We just read that nuke blog. We have always figured those canyons up there were contaminated. That blog makes sense about their debris. There has been a lot of tree and brush clearning up there and the ground scraped down to mineral soil to make fire lines. We can only hope they have done enough. The latest I heard at noon was the fire was 2 miles from that area where the waste is stored. The winds are so erratic that they don’t know which direction the fire will burn.
We are not downwind of it, but others sure are. As the crow flies, it is only about 50 miles from us.
5:08 pm on June 28th, 2011
Happy Birthday Mr. PSQA, and many more.
5:12 pm on June 28th, 2011
Rose: Couldn’t you just hug the little pug! (well, you, not me)
Dawson: Steak and Eggs! One of our very favorites. Especially T-Bone.
Hey! That reminds me. Redbone, looking forward to seeing you at the party tonight!
Rio: Must be some way to get you there. After all, this IS our favorite author’s birthday. Party starts early (6 pm MDT). Max can stand-in for you for a couple of hours, yes?
And, Nettie: Sorry to hear you won’t be attending. (whispering) Perhaps you could drop by in disguise just to check things out.
5:19 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie: For arthritis in humans, capsicum (cayenne) is supposed to be beneficial. I don’t know about doggies. Make a soft bed like Rio’s for him. A gentle walk 3 times a day.
5:36 pm on June 28th, 2011
that’s Natiie, not Nettie…
5:39 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie When I (Tupper) had trouble with my front leg the doctor suggested an orthopedic bed and nightly massage. I sit with Mama on the couch every night and she kneads my shoulder and leg gently. It is so nice that sometimes I limp just to get extra rubs
Oh and the doctor said to not let me go down stairs when my leg hurts
Not sure where Teddie’s arthritis is but that stair thing does help me
We will send up prayers for Teddie
5:47 pm on June 28th, 2011
An orthopedic bed is a great idea, and prayers for Teddie.
I have sort of missed the Borozi.
5:48 pm on June 28th, 2011
Molly!… My eyes are wide open in that photo…heh!heh!
6:08 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wolfie. Not sure if this will help or not, but I have been getting that stuff (G & C) for quite a while now, even before I started acupuncture and it does help a lot too. I don’t know if Teddie is getting it on a prescription basis, but I think there are a lot of commercially available non prescription products on the market. The one that I like and get is Zuke’s Hip-Action, beef flavor. I get about three pieces a day which I usually get as treats when we walk in the morning. It certainly has helped me stay limber, and while the acupuncture certainly helps a lot too, if it is not readily available where you live, Zuke’s is really good by itself. Wookie
6:28 pm on June 28th, 2011
Rio – Nice try.
6:56 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hey, y’all! Mom just got home from work, so I’m getting ready to come to the party. Don’t start without me!
7:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’m back. The doctor listened. (whew)
That is such fun when the docs treat you as a person!
Getting ready for the party.
Natasha, thanks, I’ll pick up 4 corgis!
7:55 pm on June 28th, 2011
Mr.Husky, The jet is ready for you. Will you come aboard now? We have to get back so Staff has some help grilling the hotdogs.
7:58 pm on June 28th, 2011
We are about ready to leave and pick up the Corgis.
Now the next part is NOT MY FAULT!
The Pack were packing up all the different gummies in their packs.
Everyone did fine except for Franklin.
I would not eat the gummy worms if I were you guys!

8:00 pm on June 28th, 2011
Whew the coals look just about perfect. I will be starting things in about a half hour. Audrey has all sorts of condiments here so we can have anything we want on our Hebrew Nationals.
I prefer sauerkraut and mustard. Gosh I forgot buns. Do you think the dogs will mind?
8:08 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’m picking up Sam. We’ll be there soon.
8:17 pm on June 28th, 2011
We have the big package of Spencer Steaks ready to put on the grill, and are getting ready to take off, in a manner of speaking…Let’s see..am I forgetting anything?
8:28 pm on June 28th, 2011
ME! You are forgetting me, you big lout! I am bringing the delicious salmon filets and bonbons. Siber-H, Alice and a few others are depending on me. Oh, yes and what about those Slim Jims you said you were bringing for Chet, Audrey and the Pack? Hmm?
8:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Okay in the Van! Let’s go! Time to go get four Corgis!!
Franklin, stop drooling. Oh, yuck, your drool is all different colors. Get off, Get off, you big lug!
8:40 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’m zooming up now in the Wookiemobile. If anyone wants a ride, just let me know and I will zip by and pick you up on the way. Wookie
8:42 pm on June 28th, 2011
K, Mr. Redbone, I am here and ready to par-tay! I have my steaks, which were marinated in Jack Daniels. Will there be swimming? I am ready for anything. It is so boring at home, and HOT!
8:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
Audrey can you get me a water sprayer and just in case can we have that hose over here close? I really appreciate the concrete barrier. I am sure that Spence won’t mind the dead spots in his lawn. It is on the side of the house that he never goes to so he won’t even notice.
I am ready for those Spencer steaks now. I wonder when Bear Spirit Dog will get here with them?
Lets see, Do the Dogs need A-1 and Worchestershire Sauce? Maybe just a little salt and that’s all? Whatever you think.
8:45 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’ll be there shortly. I can make a quick stop and get some buns for the Hebrew Nationals, and a few gluten free for Melanie.
Got the potatoe salad, 10 lbs. of it, and 2 Rhubarb Crunches. I think Barb likes it ccause it has her name in it.
We like a little chopped onion and mustard and catsup on our hot dogs.
8:46 pm on June 28th, 2011
Alice will have to part the jet and then get back so I won’t know she is here till Mr.Husky turns up.
8:47 pm on June 28th, 2011
Staff, Can we do some of the steaks on the rare side?
8:47 pm on June 28th, 2011
(Neither of these is me, BTW)
8:48 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’m finally here, Alice. I got the green chili stew and enchilidas with red chili loaded on the plane. tee hee Try to not fly into any turbulance.
8:51 pm on June 28th, 2011
Franklin looks like he started partying early this afternoon.
8:52 pm on June 28th, 2011
Okay. Ready to Party!
Beam me up, Scotty!
(er…Bear)
8:55 pm on June 28th, 2011
Honking the Horn!! Dogs barking!!
Come on Corgis!
8:58 pm on June 28th, 2011
macy, there have been lots of requests for ‘rare’ and several requests for no cooking at all. I can live with that. Less work for me. Hey! Better put those steaks on this side of the concrete blocks. Some of those dog-gone guys look like they are going to counter surf.
Why doesn’t someone throw some of these frisbee’s around out there and distract them. (I will take some potato salad that Barb and Maggie brought and a ginger ale please.) Love the sliced eggs on top!
9:00 pm on June 28th, 2011
COME ON CORGIS! Mac go get them!
9:03 pm on June 28th, 2011
Frisbees? Yes, please. I will have my steak on one.
9:05 pm on June 28th, 2011
Franklin move over, no move over, MOVE OVER!
Mattie stop sniffing those Corgis! Mac drag that padlocked case over here.
NO DON’T MAKE YOUR MARK!
9:09 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hey! the party is in full swing already. Wonder who those 2 dogs were I saw dancing on the lawn…
Staff: Here you go. Steaks for the grill! Slim Jims for hors devours!
Hebrew Nationals! Yummers! I’ll just have mine plain please.
9:09 pm on June 28th, 2011
HOLD ON!
Oh, sorry Katie, I didn’t mean to press the gas so much. Your gummies should be okay.
9:09 pm on June 28th, 2011
Ok, ok, we’re coming!!!
9:11 pm on June 28th, 2011
(whispering – Basil! Stop squirming…you’re supposed to be a Corgi! If the pack realizes that you and Sage are in those Corgi suits, there’s gonna be a fur fight!)
9:11 pm on June 28th, 2011
Staff, we got here! Hand me one of the hot dogs and a Gluten Free bun!
Thanks I’m starved.
(don’t eat the gummy worms)
9:12 pm on June 28th, 2011
Where do we put the present?
The Pack picked it out themselves.
9:13 pm on June 28th, 2011
Gosh I got so busy that my avatar couldn’t keep up with me..
Heh
Uhoh, Abbie if you eat that whole hotdog you are going to be miserable in the morning.
9:14 pm on June 28th, 2011
Staff, Yes I remembered the sliced eggs on top the potato salad. Is the ginger ale Vernors?
Has anyone seen Audrey?
9:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
Oh come on Staff, it’s a party!
Wow, you can really dance while you’re grilling!
9:15 pm on June 28th, 2011
Melanie, I have the gluten free buns saved over here and you might want to check the labels on the condiments before you use them. I can guarantee the sauerkraut is gluten free.
The great thing about Hebrew Nationals is they don’t put any fillers in them. Just pure beef. Yumm, I think I will have one too.
9:16 pm on June 28th, 2011
Macy, You finally get to meet Redbone tonight in person. For what it is worth, my mom approves of Redbone…says you won’t find a nicer gentlmen.
I might, just a wee little bit, be sorry that the Borzoi couldn’t attend the party tonight.
9:16 pm on June 28th, 2011
I will have a hotkat please.
9:17 pm on June 28th, 2011
Yep Barb, If I am going to be wild and crazy and have some ginger ale you KNOW it is going to be Vernor’s. I think BStover brought some from Michigan. I stashed several cans back here.
9:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
Has anyone seen Mr. Redbone yet? My heart is racing. Oh my, I think I may have a sinking spell.
9:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
“Hotkat” snicker
Wait, I thought I had four corgis here, but I see only two . . .
Here’s the present. You should have seen the Pack climbing on each other’s shoulders to get to the barn roof to get it off!
9:19 pm on June 28th, 2011
Macy, repeat after me. THe kats are to be left alone! Only HotDogs here. Ignore the kat behind the curtain.
9:21 pm on June 28th, 2011
Some Vernor’s please. I brought along some champagne glasses for it!
And I’d love some potato salad, sour kraut and where are Stover’s pies??
Rose lost the key to the padlock, so the cakes from the Royal Mum are still in the strong box.
9:21 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wow! Great present newf’s. I only brought a card…sigh…
9:22 pm on June 28th, 2011
That is beautiful, Melanie!
ummm Where are Audrey and Wookie? tee hee
Where are Stover’s pies?
9:23 pm on June 28th, 2011
Young love . . . Macy and Mr. Redbone.
sigh
9:23 pm on June 28th, 2011
Missing!…I’m not there – I’m here watching the Rockies play the White Sox…heh!…My friend is cranky and tired tonight. Her mother tried to make her eat supper the second she got home, which was late and my friend declined. This made her mother upset and now they are both upset and I’m perfectly happy…snorkel!… I like eating early and not having to wait for someone to get home late and decide to feed me a little sprinkling of kibble….snort!…Her mother is way more generous and always on time…heh!…I just have to go sit in the kitchen and look at my bowl next thing I know I’m eating supper….wuffle!
Alice!… Be sure to fly over my house and drop off some left-overs!…grunt!… Don’t drop the Husky whatever you do…heh!
9:24 pm on June 28th, 2011
Pies? what pies? heh heh heh.
9:25 pm on June 28th, 2011
Good evening y’all. sorry to be late, but had to finish the chores before I left home.
Now, this here jug of shine is a Birthday Present. But this jug here is for Rio, Wookie and Siber…hope Rio shows up with his harmonica.
Now, s’cuse me, I gotta look around here and find Miz Macy. My heart just yearns to meet that little lady and take a turn around the dance floor.
Anyone seen her? (sure hope she likes long, floppy ears)
9:26 pm on June 28th, 2011
Sam and I are here! I’m starved so I’ll have a hotdog and some steak. Oh and a beer. Mom won’t know.
9:26 pm on June 28th, 2011
Staff: Here is my, er the, salmon filets for the grill. Here I’ll just put these salmon bonbons over there out of your way.
What strange looking Corgis you are. Looking quite hot and comfortable too, I might add.
9:29 pm on June 28th, 2011
Poor Rio!
I wish you weren’t missing all this food! I am trying to ignore the Twins after yesterday. (((Sigh)))
Hope your Rockies get a win.
I will be sure to parachute some food down to you while returning Mr.Husky. We have to go around about to avoid all the smoke down there.
9:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
I have ten pies: Southern Pecan, Chocolate Cream, Apple, Strawberry, Blueberry, Butterscotch Cream, Banana Cream, Lemon Meringue, Key Lime, and Cherry. Whew!
9:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Sage – my zipper is stuck. Get me out off this dam corgi disguise! How can I eat salmon balls in this get up
9:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Miz Macy – Why you are just the most beee-uuutiful little creature I ever done laid eyes on
9:36 pm on June 28th, 2011
Melanie – can you help Basil and Sage get out of their Corgi outfits? We think the zippers are fully of gummy worm guk. We would help them….but we dont’ want to. Long as they’re stuck in there, they aren’t harrassing us!
Staff – can we have some steaks and Hebrew Nationals please – – no, no, don’t bother to cook them. We like them tartare!
9:37 pm on June 28th, 2011
Present? Oh, no! All we brought was a card.
9:37 pm on June 28th, 2011
MollyPop and Sam! Good to see you! There sure a lot of Kats around here.
I found some party favors!
The Dutch covers of our Favorite Birthday Boy!
The titles are weird. This one is Mad Dog.
9:39 pm on June 28th, 2011
There you go Sage, now Basil, hold still. Hold still! Jeez, Franklin didn’t mean to drool the gummies on the zipper. Just another second!
Second book! Called Lazy Dog.

9:40 pm on June 28th, 2011
Food me! Food me!
9:42 pm on June 28th, 2011
Macy is right, that Mr Redbone is a handsome gent. I can see why she is so smitten with him. Maybe she can ask him if he has any kinfolk that might take a hankerin to s sweet little rat-killing country gal like me.
9:42 pm on June 28th, 2011
Mr. Redbone, you better hand Staff a jug or Riö won’t get any of that!
B.Stover! I would like a piece of pecan, chocolate cream and Key Lime!
Yummers!
Third book, they call it “Ungrateful Dog”. I have know Idea what book is which!
9:43 pm on June 28th, 2011
I have got to remember to think, press and then eat!
Try again . . .
9:43 pm on June 28th, 2011
I’m watching the game on my magic IPaw that I bought in Ft. Worth during the Super Bowl game, but I am going to go guard all those ten pies.
9:43 pm on June 28th, 2011
Mr. Redbone, my ears are perpetually pert, but all the other 4-leggeds around here have casual ears, and I love them. Sometimes I would like to let my ears down, but… On occasion, Annie wears one ear folded back. Dad is afraid that she is getting involved with a gang, but it is just a fashion statement.
9:43 pm on June 28th, 2011
Redbone. Thanks for the ‘shine It’s even more yummy than martinis. And look at Redbone and Miss Macy do the Texas Reel. Amazing. Even neater than when the Newfs did the Electric Slide. Wookie
9:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
Looks like the New’f Pack has outdone themselves this time. That present is one of a kind.
9:45 pm on June 28th, 2011
Jeez Sam. We are going to feed you. You are even in line in front of the Newfies and all those strange looking corgi friends of Melanie. That one has the strangest bark.
9:45 pm on June 28th, 2011
SiberH!… Someone’s friend Bill, is at the game tonight….heh!… He’s that really rich guy in the front seat with the gray beard….snorkel!… She says she was thinking about him and his wife today because tomorrow is the anniversary of a very sad day….sniff! …Maybe that is what really is wrong with my friend tonight…hmmm…
Shine!… Do my pug eyes deceive me, or did I just read that Redbone brought a special bottle of Shine just for me??!…heh!…
ALICE…Be sure to grab that bottle before you leave and drop it with the other left-overs!…snort!….Don’t let Rose near it!…dammit!
9:48 pm on June 28th, 2011
I brought Vernors and Cahors. Someone had better guard SH who is “guarding” the pies. The steak and potato salad are delish!
9:49 pm on June 28th, 2011
Rose is too young to drink!
I better not see you drinking any of that shine young lady!
Mr. Redbone, Franklin and Mac would love a bit of that jug. Mattie is going to be the designated driver.
9:51 pm on June 28th, 2011
Next up, Cotton-Eyed Joe, without the rude word please.
Spin me again Mr. Redbone, who cares if it doesn’t go with the dance, spin and…dip. ohhhhh
9:55 pm on June 28th, 2011
Miz Melanie – don’t you worry your pretty little head over that lil ole Rose gal. I gave her some Vernors and told her it was shine. She just THINKS she’s been drinkin’. Maybe thats why she’s trying to dance with that critter over there – what the sam hill IS that – looks like a cat head on a corgi body????
9:55 pm on June 28th, 2011
Whoo Hooo! It looks like Macy is taking quite a ‘shine’ to Mr. Redbone.
Rio, I am going to treat that bottle of shine very carefully. Staff has it safe behind the concrete barrier in case the corgi’s and newfies start anything.
9:56 pm on June 28th, 2011
Rio, I saw Bill. I see him at some of the games. It is easy to find him after you told me where to look. I’m sorry about tomorrow, and I know it will be a sad day. I am glad your friend will have all that time off next week. I know she is ready for a vacation.
9:56 pm on June 28th, 2011
Well, it’s way past my bedtime!
May I have another piece of pecan pie? Maybe a bit more of that Key Lime? Thanks B.Stover.
Hope the boys don’t get to rowdy on the shine. The ladies are waiting in line to dance with Mr. Redbone. “Don’t forget Siber-H and Bear!”
Mattie has the keys!
TTFN

http://www.viddler.com/cheezburger/videos/1771/
I hope no one minds that I brought a friend from south of the border.
9:57 pm on June 28th, 2011
Melanie!… Are those Chet and Bernie mysteries?…heh!… Are those the covers from other countries?…sniff!
Second!…hey! All of a sudden we have a guy on second base…(for those of you who like to party, but also like the Rockies.)…heh!
10:04 pm on June 28th, 2011
I forgot to put out the treats that I made myself. Fresh candied June Bugs that Annie caught for me. They love our outdoor water bowl, so catching them is no big deal. For the party, I removed the legs, as they tend to get in between one’s teeth.
10:10 pm on June 28th, 2011
Miz Macy – you sure are a pretty dancer. Your friend is nice, but should she be dancing neked at a party full of Newfs and Siber and company?
What do you say you and me wander over to the frog pond and watch some of those submarine races?
(wiggling one eyebrow)
10:12 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hello! Where is everyone? Is something going on outside I should see?
10:13 pm on June 28th, 2011
Speaking of South of the Border – Siber-H, those are some very tasty Mexican dishes. They would go good with a cold Corona.
10:14 pm on June 28th, 2011
Oh, Mr. Redbone, a good submarine race is always a good way to end a good time. Lead the way.
10:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
Uh, I meant to say, “Whatever are you talkin about Mr. Redbone. I am not familiar with this activity”.
10:21 pm on June 28th, 2011
Macy. You shameless hussy. What’s Siber gonna think?
10:21 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hahahahahha Miz Macy you sure are a hoot! Get on out there gurl. That is one handsome hound dog!
10:22 pm on June 28th, 2011
Siber – can we have some of that green chili to take home to Mama? She couldn’t come – something about a Crazy Lady.
Boy, what a party she’s missing!
10:23 pm on June 28th, 2011
Thank You, Masquers.
Macy,I have been distracted watching the ball game.
10:24 pm on June 28th, 2011
Miss Alice, you sure look purdy in your fine red ribbon.
10:28 pm on June 28th, 2011
T&G, You are welcome to take all the green chili you want for your mom.
10:32 pm on June 28th, 2011
Wait, we didn’t do the boot skoot boogie! And I love Cotton Eyed Joe. What is the bad word, Macy? Does anyone know Rocky Top?
I need to watch my girlish figure, so I am going to limit myself to 2 pieces of pie, chocolate cream and pecan. And maybe a smidge of rhubarb crunch, just so I don’t hurt Barb’s feelings. Oh, didin’t we have some pineapple upside-down cake somewhere? Think I will pass on the June bugs tho, they remind me of that giant tick I found on the floor the other day. Especially with their legs missing. Yuck!
10:38 pm on June 28th, 2011
Looks like Bear is ready to call it a night. He’s not much of a Party Animal. Rather fond of good food though.
I’ll have another salmon bonbon for the road.
10:45 pm on June 28th, 2011
In Cotton-eyed Joe, some folks shout out BS at a certain refrain in the song.
Thanks to all for a wonderful evening. I really must dash. Mr. R, it was certainly a night to remember. Please give my regards to Audrey. I don’t think I ever saw her.
(air kisses all around) I must get home, as I heard that dad was attempting to make lemon bars without my assistance.
10:46 pm on June 28th, 2011
Oooooh…
“On a dark desert highway,
cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas rising
up through the air
Up ahead in the distance,
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy
and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night”
10:46 pm on June 28th, 2011
My mom is ready to call it a night also.
Rio, I think the Rockies can win this one. Go Rockies!!!
As always, it was a lovely party with the most delish food in the world. I think I ate too much pie, but we do have the best parties, don’t we?
Good Night Everyone and Happy Birthday Spence!
I may need a tum for the tummy.
10:46 pm on June 28th, 2011
Masquers – you’ll have to climb up here to get a salmon ball. Basil and I use the wrappers to bomb the dawns down there. Come on Alice Net you can bounce one off ole Siber’s nose!
10:47 pm on June 28th, 2011
The grill is off. No more meat. You will have to make do with pies and cakes and crunch and salmon bon bons.
NO! Max! That is Rio’s jar of hootch. Er, I mean his ummm shine. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Shine.
Well Mr.Husky. Are you ready to leave yet or are you going to keep dancing with Rose? She seems to be enjoying her ‘Vernor’s’. Alice can start back to the jetpad if you are ready?
I missed Dawson tonight. Man can that girl dance. Somewhere on Facebook there is a video of her. heh heh heh. I sure wish I could find it.
You go on Alice,
I will clean up here since Dawson isn’t around to help out.
Thanks Audrey for the great big trash bags. I think we don’t have to worry about any food being left on the ground. snicker.
10:51 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hey you herbs! Stop throwing the food around. Some of us kats want to eat that not toss it!
10:52 pm on June 28th, 2011
(I think the herbs have had to much shine. They have totally forgotten how to spell)
Hehehe
10:52 pm on June 28th, 2011
Aw gee, guess its time to get back home. Franklin is warming up the van. Come on Basil and Sage – back into the Corgi disguises.
Happy Birthday Spence, Peter, Admin and Wookie. It was a great party! And you were right Barb and Maggie – we thought we hated rhubarb until we tried your crunch stuff. ITs pretty good.
Night Macy
Night Redbone (whispering – you might want to wipe that lipstic off your collar)
Night Siber
yawwwwwwnnnn – g’night everyone.
10:58 pm on June 28th, 2011
We have to head out, too. Thanks Staff for doing the grilling. Had a wonderful time. Bee, the pies were wonderful. You out did yourself, my dear. Probably a result of reading all those recipes.
Happy Birthday Spencer, Admin and Mr. A. Good thing Basil pointed out that they all 3 share the same birthday. What a ka-winky-dink!
Safe trips home!
11:00 pm on June 28th, 2011
Alice, I’ll sleep on the jet all the way home with Bear’s song in my heart. A perfect song for a desert night like this.
ps. I’m glad I am not the only one that thinks the Herbs have had enough to drink.
night again
11:00 pm on June 28th, 2011
Goodnight T&G. Thanks for doing the food cleanup! Now it is just a few cans and bottles and the paper plate. (For the few that used plates).
Easy cleanup. We wouldn’t want Audrey to get in trouble? Hey did anyone notice Spence and PA and Admin? I only saw Chet as he was dancing with several Newf’s at once. What a guy!
Grabbing the bottle of shine and heading west. Get ready rio. when you see the parachute with the pink blinking light you will know it is on it’s way down to your yard. (We know you can’t leave it). Better ask for a potty break Now now now!
Yeep!
11:04 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hey you all! I’ve been hiding in the corner, just taking in the festivities. If Siber leaves, I can come out and enjoy some food.
11:07 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hey Buddy, Best friend of Chet. Mr.Husky was on his good behavior tonight. He had to be or Alice wouldn’t pick him up and fly him to the party. How ya doing? Have you gotten any film offers since you became friend of the month?
11:08 pm on June 28th, 2011
Sorry we could not make the party. Mom just got home and we found out our Phils beat the Red Sox 5-0 !!! AWOOOOO !
11:11 pm on June 28th, 2011
Hi Abbie!
I’m sort of sad that my big month is winding down. But before it ends, I just want to thank all the Little People who made my ascent possible. Those being Sasha, Dima, and Meashka. I will try hard to remember my roots and stay grounded, in spite of all my great fame. I wish my successor a long and happy reign. And I’m hoping its a Kat !!
11:18 pm on June 28th, 2011
Yes, Buddy,
A kat would be good! Those dogs think they are the bee’s knees but we know who are the Kat’s pajama’s don’t we. Snicker
11:29 pm on June 28th, 2011
I wonder if Rio is able to stay up? The Rockies are tied in the 10th. That busy place is keeping his friend really busy and he might be tucked in bed with all his baseball toys in just the right place listening to the game while she sleeps.
Good luck Rio,
11:40 pm on June 28th, 2011
ALICE!… I’ve had nothing but computer problems since last post and of course The Game is in extra innings…heh!… But I have been out in my new fenced yard watching for a parachute with the pink blinking lights…grunt!…So far in my two or three annoying trips outside during the Game, I’ve not seen your pink things…grumble!…Did you fly over and forget about me?…sniff!…Is SiberH in the back of the jet drinking my Shine?…groan!
11:44 pm on June 28th, 2011
Siber H. slept the whole way and your shine and a few other goodies went down right on time. Maybe it came down while you were watching the game and is hiding in the bushes. Your friends mom doesn’t have any marauding goats there does she?
11:51 pm on June 28th, 2011
I can’t watch your game anymore. Bedtime for me and the kats. Night all, if anyone is left. Hope Rio finds his shine before his friends mom does. heh heh heh
12:29 am on June 29th, 2011
Hey, guys! Sorry I haven’t been real sociable tonight, but I ended up spending most of the evening in the corner watching my Gamecocks play. I don’t know if any of you heard me hootin’ and hollerin’ over there, but I couldn’t help it. THE GAMECOCKS JUST WON THEIR SECOND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!
Anyway, I wanted to thank Chet and Audrey for their hospitality, but I can’t seem to find them. Last I saw them they were huddled with Mr. Redbone and a jug. If anyone sees those two, please be sure to thank them for me. (I just hope they don’t wake up with real bad headaches!)
Oh, and Happy Birthday Spence et al.!!!
9:49 pm on July 26th, 2011
An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing somewhat analysis on this. And he in fact purchased me breakfast because I located it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I really feel strongly about it and adore reading far more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your weblog with much more details? It is actually highly helpful for me. Large thumb up for this weblog post!
1:09 pm on August 18th, 2011
I do agree with all the ideas you have presented in your post. They’re really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are too short for starters. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post!!

May I simply just say what a comfort to uncover
someone that genuinely knows what they’re discussing on the
net. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it
important. A lot more people need to check this out and understand
