Iditarod (Still More)
“So,” says Spence, “the leader’s at the halfway point. Name of Trent Herbst, a fourth-grade teacher from Idaho who doesn’t own his team.”
“Doesn’t own his team?” says Admin. “Meaning we could go up there and rent one next year?”
“I was thinking borrow,” Spence says. “But the interesting thing is that the halfway point is a ghost town named guess what.”
“I hate guess what with a passion.”
“Take a stab at it. Just this once.”
“Ichabod.”
Spence stares at Admin in silence. “Wow,” he says after a while. “That is so close, in a strange way. And totally wrong. The ghost town is in fact Iditarod, from which the race gets its name. But what would that be like, some kind of ghost story that takes place during the Iditarod?”
“The Arctic trails,” says Admin, “have their secret tales/That would make your blood run cold.”
“Yeah,” Spence says. “That kind of thing.”
Welcome Daphne the Diva, Murffy, Muffy by the fire, Sunny Joy.

Are we first this morning? That doesn’t happen often! Good morning everyone. Hope those out on the northern trails have a good day.
9:11 am on March 11th, 2011
Nice Spence! Like that idea! Chet on the Iditarod!
Hi Barb and MagPie!
So how are we all getting to LizF’s show?
9:14 am on March 11th, 2011
Hey, just looked on SpaceWeather.com and they said the auroras came down into Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. Hope people got to see them. Jealous here.
9:31 am on March 11th, 2011
There’s no sky to be seen here. Just sleety snow being whipped sideways.
9:35 am on March 11th, 2011
Good morning all – been watching the news all morning about the tsunami. Why oh why do some people refuse to listen to evacuation orders?? There are people standing ON THE BEACH in Hawaii despite the fact the police are telling them that if they see the tsunami from the beach…its too late…they can kiss life goodbye. The wave moves at 50 miles per hour when it hits land. Even Corgis can’t run THAT fast.
9:44 am on March 11th, 2011
T & G, You are right, they say the water receeds a little before the tsunami hits, so if you are satnding on the water line, you are in big trouble. They are worried about power plants in Japan, due to the earthquake.
9:48 am on March 11th, 2011
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow! I’m pondering in what strange way Ichabod’s story is close to….whatever ghost story is being woven in the minds of Spence and Admin. Fun!! Do it!
Good morning all.
9:53 am on March 11th, 2011
They are worried about NUCLEAR plants in Japan. Yikes!
SH: Something occurred to me. Do the dogs race at night? That seems dangerous to me.
9:53 am on March 11th, 2011
Whitey!… Rebecca of Snowhook Kennels has welcomed us in her latest post!….snort!…Go check it out! I put in a good word for SiberH seeing as he still hasn’t posted anything over there in support of Whitey…heh!

Melanie: We wouldn’t have been able to see any auroras here either–we have two inches of snow and a white sky of cloud.
10:00 am on March 11th, 2011
The first two videos on the site below show the raw footage of the tsunami. The last shows a little of Tokyo. There is unbelievable damage.

Rio: How cool!! A welcome for Chet and Bernie and us by Snowhook Kennels. My problem is that I haven’t been able to figure out how to comment there. Can you explain how to me please?
10:01 am on March 11th, 2011
Admin. knows a Robert Service poem!!! What a great way to start the day! I would love a ghost story that takes place during the Iditarod…hint, hint
Our heroes, Whitey and his team, are moving along at 8.1 mph and are around 13 miles from the ghost town of Iditarod. I’m guessing they will rest there or someplace close by.
The first musher to make it to the Yukon River is Hugh Neff and other leaders are close behind him.
10:08 am on March 11th, 2011
Thanks Rio! No, I haven’t commented there, but I have on the Iditarod message boards. Stover is also having problems on snowhook kennels website so I am not the only one.
Stover, the dogs actually prefer to run at night because it is cooler. The musher wears a very strong, bright, headlamp and the trail markers are reflective so the trail can be seen. Good lead dogs know where the trail is anyway without ever having to see it.
10:10 am on March 11th, 2011
SiberH – Mom went on the Snowhook web site and sent Whitey a Hello from you.
10:13 am on March 11th, 2011
Stover!… You have your own blog, surely you know how to logon to a blog. (((sigh)))….
1. Click on the Comments link underneath Rebecca’s post.
2. Type in your comment in the space given on the right hand corner.
3. Hit “Review”
4. This will take you to the Blogger screen where you will see the Google logon fields. Underneath it asks “Don’t have a Google Account?” Click on “Get Started”.
5. Follow the directions. There will be a field where you can enter your Display Name.
6. After you have logged in your comment will show up. At this point you can Edit, Publish or cancel it.
7.Be sure to write down your Google account so you don’t forget the damned thing.
10:17 am on March 11th, 2011
Stover and SiberH — Rio’s directions are good; he had sent them to me previously via the secret decoder device and I was able to log on and and post without any difficulty. Well, almost without any difficulty — doing my best Dawson imitation, I did manage to double post a couple of days ago (still not sure how that happened). Wookie
10:18 am on March 11th, 2011
SH: How do the dogs know where the trail is without having to see it?
Mollypop: How do I post a comment?
10:27 am on March 11th, 2011
Thanks Mollypop for putting a good word in for me, You too, Rio.
Stover, they know for a fact that once a dog has been over a trail, they remember it. Lets say a dog team traveled 1000 miles and saw a moose at mile #605…the dogs will remember where they saw that moose the next time they go over the trail. They also know where the trail is by scent and they think maybe by the way it feels underneath their feet.

“Please close that door.
It’s fine in here, but I greatly fear, you’ll let in the cold and storm —
Since I left Plumtree, down in Tennessee, it’s the first time I’ve been warm.”
It might be warmer here today, but it feels colder than usual because it’s so wet.
10:31 am on March 11th, 2011
Did you notice that WL teeshirts are coming soon?
10:34 am on March 11th, 2011
SH: Thank you. That is very interesting. And thanks Rio. I simply had to log into From My Easy Chair. Here’s what I posted:
Another “hello and good luck” from Chet’s corner! Whitey and all of the team are beautiful. I’m hoping you have a safe and successful race. (I’m B.Stover on Chet’s blog.)
I read Rio and Mollypop’s comments also. Rebecca read DOI. You are “welcome” to their kennel Chet!
10:34 am on March 11th, 2011
Yeah!! I want one!!
Suppose to get up to 70 degress here today.
10:36 am on March 11th, 2011
Has anyone read “The Weird Sisters” by Eleanor Brown? Wondering if I should purchase it. Thanks.
10:36 am on March 11th, 2011
Siber-H: Those dogs sure are smart. I still think running at night would be scary. Do they ever see wild animals at night when running? You know everything there is to know about this.
Tsunami–they are closing the beaches here in case it hits here. If it does it will be at 8AM. It is 7:35 here now.
Mollypop: Can you say something for me on Whitey’s blog?
10:40 am on March 11th, 2011
Glad to hear about the second interview for Kirby’s son!
10:44 am on March 11th, 2011
Mollie (ABP): On the NOAA Pacific Tsunami Warning Center there is no warning for the western beaches in North America.
Let us hope that is a better forecast than the weather people.
10:46 am on March 11th, 2011
Mollie(ABP) I am not sure about the answer to your question about the nighttime animals. I assume they would see some animals at night. Bears are still in hibernation up there.
Many times an entire dog team has taken off after a moose…sometimes there is not much the musher can do but hang on and try to stop the dogs, but it is usually a tree or a bush that the dogs get tangled up in that stops them.
Mollie(ABP) How close are you to the beach? Yikes!!!
11:06 am on March 11th, 2011
Both Mollie and Wolfie are on the west coast. Stay safe!
Melanie: I’m not familiar with that book.
I have a doctor’s appointment because I have to get a written release from her so that I can go back to work. Toodles.
11:42 am on March 11th, 2011
Nothing happening so far. There are thousands of people on high ground watching the ocean and taking pictures. The ocean in Crescent City & Santa Cruz has receeded but so far no big waves have come back in. Beaches are closed but some people are still on them & some people are even surfing in the ocean. I sure think that is not a good idea just in case.
We are not right by the ocean, but if the water came in under the GGBridge and the bay we could maybe see something.
12:05 pm on March 11th, 2011
Here’s the official Southern Route Map of the Iditarod from their site.

12:05 pm on March 11th, 2011
Nothing happened except some boats in Santa Cruz Harbor got damaged or washed out to sea. At least it is a beautiful sunny day for all those people to be out looking at the ocean.
12:10 pm on March 11th, 2011
The official info on Whitey and all:
They have taken their 24 hour Layover.
They still have to take their 8 hour layover.
Their speed right now is 10.07 mph.
The last check point was Ophir, in at 12:04:00, 15 dogs in, only 14 went on. They were there for only 6 minutes.
Siber-H should know more about where they are right now. On Facebook, they don’t know why one dog was left.
12:11 pm on March 11th, 2011
Daylight!….Looks like we will be losing an hour this weekend….grump!….I freakin’ hate Daylight Savings time….grumble! ….What the hell good does it do anyone, I ask you?….snort!
12:13 pm on March 11th, 2011
Mollie ABP and Wolfie – stay high and dry!
We think it would be a good idea to field a team for the next Iditerod fron Chet’s Blog. Obviously Siber is going to be the leader. Wookie and Wolfie are big strong dogs who could help. And we hear that Standard Poodles are pretty strong and athletic – what about it MollyPop? The Newfs are great at carting – if we hang a pork chop on a stick in front of them, we bet they could run like the wind!
Of course as Royal Corgis, we would prefer not to have to work in harness, but we are willing to sit in the sled and direct. Macy, Sammie and Kirby should ride along too. And as for Rio – hmmm – maybe he could ride a saddle on one of the Newfs? No matter where he is, we are sure he will grumble about it.
12:18 pm on March 11th, 2011
Whitey-Lance and team are safely into the ghost town of Iditarod.
For Justin to be down to 14 dogs right now is actually pretty good. The most common reasons for “dropping” a dog are things like sore shoulders or sore wrists. The dropped dog is flown in style back to Anchorage where they are taken care of until the musher gets back there.
On No …Daylight Savings Time. I freakin also hate it Rio.
12:18 pm on March 11th, 2011
We’ll join the team!
12:22 pm on March 11th, 2011
Things are looking up now!!! I think that will make 4 Siberians on the team.
T&G, Poodles have really successfully done the Iditarod.
12:25 pm on March 11th, 2011
Whitey!….Oh no! Did they lose another guy off the team?…snuffle!… I hope it isn’t Whitey!…grunt! …Maybe the Snowhook blog will report on it later….Go Whitey! Keep yer booties on!….woooo!
12:27 pm on March 11th, 2011
Really Siber – Poodles? Wow – we ARE impressed! But MollyPop might not be wanting to get her feet cold and wet.
Glad to have the Howlers along!
Who’s gonna pack the beaver tail and duck jerky?
1:22 pm on March 11th, 2011
Wookie!….heh!snort!heh!….Your post on Snowhook Kennels blog is quite amusing!…chorkel!…Good job pal! You didn’t even double post this time….snorkel!
1:30 pm on March 11th, 2011
I think Dawson should be the musher . . . she can get the beaver tail and duck jerky and no one will eat it until she’s there. Just saying Pack!
Patsy is giving me a hard look.
1:35 pm on March 11th, 2011
Sounds like Whitey’s team is doing good. Isn’t that the 3rd dog he let go from the team? As Rio said, hope it isn’t Whitey.
I don’t like Daylight time. Why don’t we leave nature time alone.
1:44 pm on March 11th, 2011
Rio — I think I figured out the problem. I did not realize that once I entered my Google password data the post would automatically appear, and I thought I had to re-do it again, which is why I wound up with the double post. Super high tech is sometimes a bit beyond my meagre capabilities (i.e., kamera problems in the quilt too). Wookie
1:56 pm on March 11th, 2011
o.k. let me try this again…
We don’t do beaver tail and duck jerky. We eat pizza and beggin strips.
2:13 pm on March 11th, 2011
Wookie!… I find its always a good idea to Preview your post out on the Snowhook blog. Instead of hitting Publish right off the bat, click on Preview after you type your message. …snort!….This way you can re-read what you wrote and Edit it if you have to. Then hit Publish and it will post to the blog….grunt! …This way you won’t look like Dawson out there double posting all over the place the way she does here…heh! …I’m wondering why my Avatar doesn’t show up over there. …grump!
2:31 pm on March 11th, 2011
Mollie (ABP) – I put a shout-out from you to Whitey on the Snowhook blog.
2:56 pm on March 11th, 2011
Snow Cat!
3:04 pm on March 11th, 2011
Idtarod – ghosttown – I smell a book!
3:10 pm on March 11th, 2011
Howler: As I said before, pizza is not good for you. However, it’s great to hear from you.
Bear: That cat is beautiful but it looks so cold.
I get email messages of all your posts on Snowhook. They’ve been great. Rio told Rebecca about the two other C&B books.
I hate daylight savings time. Is it really starting this early? Blast!! It takes me at least two weeks to adjust…I’m late for everything and I hate being late.
3:11 pm on March 11th, 2011
T&G: You’re right…Rio would grumble no matter where he was on the sled.
3:48 pm on March 11th, 2011
Someone sent this to me. It’s a bouquet of all of the state flowers. (You can check out each flower by state also.)

3:53 pm on March 11th, 2011
B! are you related to our mom? She says the same thing to us about pizza!!! But we don’t care…we p-i-n-e for pizza! and beggin strips.
3:54 pm on March 11th, 2011
Howlers: Your mom is right. I wonder if they make pizza-flavored chew strips without the bad things…
4:29 pm on March 11th, 2011
Spencer!…I didn’t think he was technologically advanced enough, but he actually posted on Snowhooks Blog!….woooo!….I hope that cheers Rebecca up…..snort!….Not that she’s sad or anything, but she is probably worrying about all her guys….wheeze!
4:55 pm on March 11th, 2011
Rio: I don’t see Spence’s post. Is it under comments?
5:38 pm on March 11th, 2011
We haven’t had any time to post this afternoon, but saw a news report that 5 people on the west coast were missing, 4 have been found and one still missing, swept out to sea. THEY WERE ON THE BEACH AND TAKING PICTURES! Do these people have no sense?
5:43 pm on March 11th, 2011
Stover!….Of course it’s under comments….grump!…Where else would it be? He can’t very well write on her blog any other way…. sniff!… You do have your own blog, don’t you? Or do you hire someone to run it for you?…..wheeze!….These questions today are blowing my pug mind.
5:49 pm on March 11th, 2011
It’s Friday, Rio, chill, or I will keep writing 1 sentence posts!
What happened to the old Rio that used to go out for wings and beer on Fridays? You need to relax, my friend.
6:03 pm on March 11th, 2011
Wings? Beer? Wow now that sounds like fun too.
6:10 pm on March 11th, 2011
I sort of tried and failed to comment on Snowhook’s blog… shudder…Google wants too much information. I can’t stand it.
Rio, I appreciate your comments about me and everyone else that gave them a shout out from me.
Ah ha, but I can send Snowhook Kennels an email.
Whitey-Lance and the gang are still resting in Iditarod. I imagine they are waiting for it to get cooler to make their run to the Yukon River.
6:12 pm on March 11th, 2011
“It’s the cursed cold, it’s got right hold ’til I’m chilled clear through to the bone.” The Cremation of Sam McGee.
I’m home where it’s still winter with a vengeance and I have a cold. I’m gonna curl up under a zillion blankets. See you in the spring.
Thanks for the bouquet, B.Stover.
6:24 pm on March 11th, 2011
Just saw Spencer’s post. Rio (I think it was) really started something. Now the Plunders & Chet are part of the Snowhook blog.
Mollypop: Thank you so much for putting me on the Snowhook blog!!
6:28 pm on March 11th, 2011
Your pug mind is easily blown Rio. I still don’t see Spence’s comment on that blog. It’s not with our comments.
6:32 pm on March 11th, 2011
Bee: Spence commented under the title Iditarod-Miles to go before I Sleep.
6:34 pm on March 11th, 2011
Okay, Mollie quoted Frost. Who did Dawson and Melanie quote? I’ve forgotten the poet’s name whom Spence quoted.
I probably have to be signed into my blog in order to read any new posts…..which I’ll do right now.
6:34 pm on March 11th, 2011
Stover, Spence’s comment is with today’s blog from Snowhook Kennels…March 11. There is only one comment so far today and it is Spences. Our comments are with yesterday’s blog…March 10.
6:37 pm on March 11th, 2011
Blueat’s mom here: thanks to Macy for the post last night about sunshine on my shoulders. The tune was a mantra in my head today while dad Bluecat was in surgery, so I didn’t worry about him. Cartilage and floaters cleaned up, nothing as exotic as Melanie’s aliens.
See Macy? You were in the right place at the right time and said just the right thing and your mom will find her place as well.
Enjoying all the Snowhook news. Catch y’all later, ‘gators.
6:40 pm on March 11th, 2011
I’m so glad everything went well Bluecat.
Thank you SH. I knew there was a reasonable explanation.
6:40 pm on March 11th, 2011
Stover, Spence and Dawson quoted Robert Service and I think Melanie did too, but I am not sure about that one. My favorite poet, Robert Service! He makes the mountains and the Yukon come alive for me.
6:47 pm on March 11th, 2011
We seem to be giving Howlers bad ideas.
I hope you feel better Dawson.
Found Spence’s comment. Now I realize what you meant Mollie. Thanks.
6:49 pm on March 11th, 2011
SH: I’m going to look up Robert Service. Sorry, but I’ve never heard of him….before you mentioned him on this blog a while back.
6:50 pm on March 11th, 2011
Yes, Melanie also quoted from the same poem by Robert Service. Now don’t you feel smart, Siber H? You are telling B.Stover who the poet is.
7:00 pm on March 11th, 2011
BlueCat Thank DogKat all is well. Floaters are weird enough.
BBL
7:01 pm on March 11th, 2011
I hope you feel better soon, Dawson
The thing is, a lot of English teachers do not think Robert Service is much of a poet. I relate to what he has to say, but I don’t think they do. Mom says she first encountered him in high school English textbooks, so back in the age of the dinosaurs he was taught in school.
Glad everything went well, Bluecat!
7:24 pm on March 11th, 2011
SH: I remembered another question: You said sometimes a dog is dropped because of sore shoulders and wrists. Those are the musher’s shouldres and wrists right? I still haven’t looked up Robert Service. I don’t like to teach Robert Frost because I never have a great deal to say about his poetry and the students, though they understand it, don’t carry on a discussion about it. (A frustrating thing for a teacher.) So, perhaps Service’s poetry is similar.
7:26 pm on March 11th, 2011
I just read last night’s posts. I’m laughing over Maggie’s reaction to Jerico on tv: “Not sure why, he just needed to be barked at.” What great logic!
Liz: Does “pommy-sounding” refer to pompous?
Kirby: How was the cake? Good to hear about the second interview.
7:31 pm on March 11th, 2011
Bee, Thank you for acknowledging my Chet-type logic. Also, I think pommy has something to be with being English, doesn’t it?
7:38 pm on March 11th, 2011
Hey, hey Plunderers! All is well here. Just checking in to say howdy.
Oh yeah…and to post this gem I saw on Facebook.

7:44 pm on March 11th, 2011
Jasper!….heh!snort!heh!…. My friend has an alternative saying that goes, “Drugs – Not Pugs”….gruffle!….I don’t think she really means it though…sniff!
BluKat!… Glad everything came out okay. …snorkel!
7:48 pm on March 11th, 2011
Here is the Wikipedia article on Robert Service. It’s thorough and interesting. The “Bard of the Yukon” and the “Canadian Kipling.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_W._Service
7:51 pm on March 11th, 2011
Howdy Jasper!
Barb and MagPie, I also heard that one person was swept out to sea.
Two things on that: The first memory i have is being in a crib and everything shaking and someone picking me up. That is when we lived in Japan.
Second. My cousin, who lives in OR, told me how to be very careful when on the beach. I had to repeat everything she said before she let me go down. I now see why when the sea retreats, head for high ground.
Molly (APB): I went back and looked at the site for forecasting a tsunami and they still had it wrong. They must be as bad as the weather people.
7:53 pm on March 11th, 2011
Here is a list of Robert Service’s poetry online through the Gutenberg Project.

7:54 pm on March 11th, 2011
B. Stover: I had guys and when they were small they loved for me to do a reading of “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. It’s fun today if you make an idiot out of yourself.
In fact the best advice Zoë ever gave me was, “You’re going to make an ass out of yourself at least once a day, at least do a good job of it.”
8:03 pm on March 11th, 2011
Stover, It is the dogs that get sore wrists and shoulders. The mushers are very experienced at reading what is going on with their dogs. Other reasons for dropped dogs are maybe they have a little virus and aren’t eating as well as they should or the dog’s spirits are down. It is especially a younger dog who will get a bit depressed sometimes so the musher will take them out of the race because if the dog isn’t having fun, what is the point.
The mushers mush on with beat up faces, broken collar bones, cut up hands, and all sorts of injuries. The dogs are flown back to Anchorage at the first sign of problems, but their injured mushers carry on.
8:06 pm on March 11th, 2011
Melanie!… Everyone here can relate to that advice from Zoe…heh!…Some more than others on different days and different someones….grunt!
8:11 pm on March 11th, 2011
Thanks for the links Stover.
Jasper, young man, glad you checked in with us.
8:16 pm on March 11th, 2011
Oh Thank Goodness it is Friday. Staff hasn’t even had a nap yet. She did have supper and is reading the blogs. As requested she has posted on the Snowbank Kennels blog. Cool that Spence did too. Staff posted on the post welcoming the chetthedog bloggers
Yippee!!!
8:21 pm on March 11th, 2011
AbbieTheKat!…. It’s not like her duty or something to post on Whitey’s blog….grunt!…If she doesn’t care to support his team, she has no obligation to post out there for goodness sake…snort!…You make it sound like a chore Staff had to do and complete for good marks…sneeze!….Staff is probably being over-worked at her busy place and I do worry about her…sniff!
8:22 pm on March 11th, 2011
Melanie – we like Zoe’s expression too. Mama says she is planning to use it at work tomorrow – as often as possible. And she plans to call some of the people there squiffy.
Siber – I (Tupper)know about sore wrists and elbows. Corgis are subject to that, just by physiology. Right now, I have to take 2 baby aspirin a day for my sore wrists.
The dogs on the Iditarod and other well run races do indeed seem to be having a good time. Especially if the occasional moose crosses their path. Gilly and I chased a big deer out of our yard the other day. Gilly just wanted to herd him, but the deer decided he would rather jump the fence. Poor Gilly was devastated.
8:30 pm on March 11th, 2011
Rio,
You begged and begged and begged us to post there. I did it to please YOU. But NOOOooooOOOOoooooooooO.
**Sniff**.
Now what do I do?
Waaaaaaaaaaa
Don’t you like me anymore?
Sniffle sob sob sob…
8:38 pm on March 11th, 2011
I found pictures of Snowhook team (not Whitey though) at the following site.
http://iditarodblogs.com/images
March 11th, #5 #22
March (hmm, can’t read my writing, but I think it’s) 9th, #23
Could be the 7th though.
Realizing that I can not function . . . I’m off to bed. One more trip tomorrow and then I don’t have to drive anywhere on SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! That’s supposed to sound like those commercial for races.
Night now.
8:42 pm on March 11th, 2011
Good afternoon all. Go W-L!
Bee, I don’t know if pommie is a contraction of ‘pompous’, but it’s slang for someone/something English.
Who would be stupid enough to stand on a beach with a tsunami on the way?? That person should be nominated for the Darwin Awards…

When my Mom was a little girl her Dad used to read her Robert Service poetry. She especially loved The Shooting of Dan McGrew. She particularly remembers
“the lady known as Lou.”. Not a nice lady at all it turns out since she kissed his cheek and pinched his poke. The best thing about his poetry is that is made to be read out loud. We just love it here in Chevy Chase. Wookie

Liz: I wish that I could go to your exhibition. I’m assuming people can buy things there….Hope you sell lots. I’m going to look up pommie tomorrow.
A friend wants me to watch Fringe but I think I’m going to fall aleep.

Wookie!… My friend, you have been entertaining me all day today. Without you it would have been a dire day, except of course for the Snowhook Kennels acknowledging Chet and us guys too!…heh! …I’m still rolling…chorkel!

Liz!… We’ve had a lot of missing guys from here lately. I hope it wasn’t one of us out there taking photos of an oncoming Tsunami….wuffle!

We know you wouldn’t do that Mr.Husky. I am glad Dawson is home and not down in Vancouver near the water.
Rio!
Abbie is licking her fur obsessively. I think she needs a stroke from you. If she licks all her hair off she will look terrible. Rather tubby and wrinkly. Sort of like one of those wrinkly Chinese dogs whose name I forget. Hard to believe I could forget anything I know. Sad but true. (Maybe Staff needs her nap)

OOPS.

Wookie: You are right, that poetry sounds good out loud. At one of the places I worked every time we had a party the boss would recite The Shooting of Dan McGrew. We all loved it.
9:34 pm on March 11th, 2011
Abbie: Rio was only concerned that Staff has been over-doing it and didn’t want her to feel she had to go to the W.L. blog. You shouldn’t feel bad. He’s been anxious that you haven’t been on this blog much lately.

Sorry to miss you B. Yes, the works will be for sale.
9:51 pm on March 11th, 2011
Thanks B. I will let Abbie know so she can relax. She is such a delicate Kat.
I am sure she will sleep better knowing that Rio was just worried. Staff is feeling better, she says. She had trouble for a while there cause she wasn’t eating enough food to keep the pills from making her tummy hurt. But she claims to have it all figured out now and is eating her food and taking her pills at the correct time and is doing really good.
Although she is now turning off the computer as we are on the dark side and she wants to go to bed.
Night all.
PS Stay up high.

Stover!…Maybe AbbieTheHardOf HearingKat will listen to you!…snort!…She still thinks I am ruffled over something that I’ve already forgotten…heh!
Dammit!…Dark side. Already, and everyone really did well today with their posts, I must say. No flippant one worders or one liners that weren’t worthy…grump! ….Here we are again dammit!…snort

Whitey-Lance and team update—They will spend the night making their way West toward the Yukon River…stopping, of course, for meals, snacks, and rest.
The mushers and teams that are in the lead are now traveling North on the Yukon River. It is 150 miles of travel on the river before they leave it and head for the coast.
Let us hope for cooler weather for all the dogs doing the Iditarod.

I forgot to say this in my above post, but I guess it doesn’t matter since we are on the Dark Side already…I am getting sleepy.
Good Night Friends
Be well Staff, Abbie, and Dawson.

Books!… I have a happy book report to make…snuff!… My friend loaned her mom all of the Ingrid books. Well, it took her weeks and weeks to get through the first book. The reason being she had not read a book in about 100 years…..grunt!…So it was a whole new experience taking time to read each day. Her mom finally did finish and started on the second Ingrid book…gruffle!…She read that within days , and she absolutely loved it!…snort!…Then she read the last Ingrid book in even less time!…woooo!
Bookless!… So was lamenting to my friend last night on the phone that she did not have anything to read yesterday….snort! …This was such good news to both of us! So my friend said she would leave a Laura Levine novel where my mom could find it if she came over. She did come over and get the book and tonight she was so happy telling my friend how she had never laughed out loud so much over a book…heh!…Her mother particularly like the emails back and forth with Jaine and her mom and dad…chorkel!…Plus, she has almost finished the book in one day! We have another Levine book that we have not read yet, but will give to her mom tomorrow….sniff!… For some reason, we are hesitant to lend her mother the Charming Mr. Abrahams adult suspense novels….sigh!…The language, the sex, the gore, and yet we love them, but we don’t want her mother to read them…grapple!…How strange is this?…snort! …When does Robbie come out!??? ….Soon please!…heh!

Iditarod! … From the updates SiberH has given I think going on the Iditarod would be fun fun fun!…snort!…All that resting and those snacks and ever abundant meals…wooo!…That’s for me man!….wuffle!…I’m ready to go and eat and rest and eat some more. I’ll even wear the booties if I absolutely have to….sniff!…No harness or running though, that I will not do…huffle!

Rio, What Levine book did your friend loan her mom? Barb just read Last Writes and in that one Jaine and her parents email back and forth a lot. It was quite funny. Jaine is in LA and her parents are in Florida, and they email all the time, complaining about each other.
We are signing off, too. Good night and sweet dreams.

Friday!….Night and everyone’s going to bed early….grump!… MagPie, the next Levine book we give her mother will be Shoes To Die For. I think we gave her Killer Blonde to begin with, the one she laughed over so much. We actually didn’t find it that hilarious, but if it makes her mom happy, that’s all that counts…heh!
10:48 pm on March 11th, 2011
Moderation!…My last comment about which book we loaned to her mother is in moderation…snort!…I dare not mention the name again or this will be in there too!…heh!…time moderated was 10:40…sniff!

Dead!….What a bunch of dead-heads…heh!…Good night all, even though we are still up watching a very good show about a one time boxing champion making a come-back at 40 years old…heh!…It is actually very excellent!…snort….Called, Lights Out, the name somehow seems familiar…heh!
