Iditarod: Nome, Here We Come!
Reporting from somewhere in southern AZ (and congrats to Mitch Seavey):
Excellent news from Rebecca, CEO of Snowhook Kennel, our team in the greatest sled dog race on earth:
I picked up C. Hobbit Harris at the airport today in Nome. She decided AJ’s finish line cheering section should consist of more than just me, so she made the trip. I am honored and thankful for her friendship.
Shortly after her arrival, we walked to Front Street and watched the first two teams cross the finish line, Mitch Seavey and Aliy Zikle respectively. As for AJ, our team, he and the dogs made it safely off the sea ice between Shaktoolik and Koyuk. This is much different than last year when Plunderers watched the GPS tracker stray off course, the trail markers were non-existent having blown away in a high wind storm, and the jumble ice created a maze for the team to navigate. This year the team had a much easier go of it and made the trek in less than seven hours.
Next stop, Elim!
And here are three members of the team, Orion on top, Quigley and Garrett below.
Welcome Molly; Penny (Jay and Marcia’s new sled dog).

Whoo hoo, off the ice. Good news. Good morning all. Good day for getting closer to Nome and those who wait! Hope sick doggies are better.
10:24 am on March 13th, 2013
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to Nome he goes . .
8 miles to Elim.
Morning HOH!
Mac has gone for a beauty day.

10:26 am on March 13th, 2013
Morning Sharon – did you get a chance to check your SDD?
Hey everyone.
CHObbit – you are so lucky – and so wonderful to be there with Rebecca. We had a dream last night that you were riding a snow machine across the snow looking for Golovin. But you kept coming back to fix the straps of your backpack.
Ok, so we have weird dreams. What can we say.
10:38 am on March 13th, 2013
More cute Snowhook doggie pictures!!
C.Harris, I am so glad you can be there with Rebecca.
10:43 am on March 13th, 2013
The GPS tracker seems to show AJ and another racer on the road around the harbor, while the Iditarod site shows the track as going across the ice. Personally we are happier that he’s on solid ground, but we just wondered.
10:48 am on March 13th, 2013
T&G: tell mom she should have SDD. If not, let me know & will try again. Yesterday was caca with laptop.
Mel:Mom is out of control, cleaning & packing to get newf sissy this weekend. Don’t think she’ll leave us the laptop 🙁
C.Hobbit/Honbit: we are jealous of your trip. Enjoy.
RE: “Montana” in Illinois…we’ve been to ILL, but never saw MT there.
10:55 am on March 13th, 2013
T&G AJ is where his green flag shows him to be. He isn’t on the ice on the red line.
10:56 am on March 13th, 2013
Sob….no one loves us. No one sent us an SDD…..sob, sob….
10:58 am on March 13th, 2013
Well, we sure don’t love those dam Corgis enough to send them an SDD. However, we will send them to Alaska, or Lithuania or maybe Botswana, if we can get a hold of that packing tape….
11:05 am on March 13th, 2013
It looks like our #1 team only has 3 more miles to Elim, and checkpoint volunteer Phillip!
Meantime, our #2 team, Mike Ellis and his Sibes, has checked into and immediately out of, Elim!
11:11 am on March 13th, 2013
The dogs look great.
Good afternoon.
11:22 am on March 13th, 2013
Kwitcher sob, sob, sobing and check ya’lls SDD.
11:26 am on March 13th, 2013
Yes, the dogs do look great. Thanks for more pics of our team.
Barb had to do some annoying but necessary errands this morning. Dept of Motor Vehicles to get license changed, then post office to mail out package to our accountant. We may actually get some tax money back this year!
So glad the C.Hobbit was able to join Rebecca. Plunderers at the beginning and the finish line. What could be better!
11:36 am on March 13th, 2013
sniff, ok. Guess someone does love us after all.
11:42 am on March 13th, 2013
Wahoo – AJ is in Elim!!!
11:43 am on March 13th, 2013
And again! Oops gotta go, weekend’s siter is here to learn routine.
11:46 am on March 13th, 2013
Yes, AJ checked into Elim at 08:40. Go Snowhook.
11:50 am on March 13th, 2013
Wookie!…This is Wookie’s checkpoint…snort!… I know our team will be greeted and treated by our Agent Wookie!…snorkel!
12:09 pm on March 13th, 2013
Greetings!
GO AJ!
I am so glad that our Hobbit is in Nome with Rebecca! Next year, I will take more time off from work and go to Nome too.
Aren’t the Snowhook dogs the best looking doggies ever?!
Siber-H, I have been meaning to thank you for all reporting on Iditarod protocol and your opinions. It has been very helpful for me.
12:15 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wookie up top and the team is in Elim, his checkpoint!
12:17 pm on March 13th, 2013
While AJ and pups are resting I have been sanding the growing glacier in the stockade.
With all the rain the Glacier is now at 5 inches deep. We have had breakup in the river (very loud in the back yard).
Spring just might arrive at some point.
Hi B.Stover! Howya doin’?
Heating pad here I come! (I was smarter today. I transferred the sand into a pail that was on the dolly, tramped through the house and out the backdoor.)
12:26 pm on March 13th, 2013
Woo Hoo! Hello Wookie!
C.Hobbit, Thanks so much for making the trek to Nome to represent the Plunderers. Mom is talking Pop into a change of plans for their big anniversary trip next year. The plan was to go on a river cruise in Europe with another couple. But perhaps, an Alaska trip would be possible? If they go, they want to be in Anchorage for the Ceremonial Start, in Willow for the Restart, in Nome for the Finish, and also one checkpoint if possible. Wouldn’t that be great? Not sure if they can pull it off though…Money is always the issue on this here farm.
12:27 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wookie once again reports that all is well with the team at Elim and he will ensure that they get a proper rest before departing. There may even be some spare hot wings in the Wookiemobile if anyone is hungry.
12:31 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wöökie, a dog with a big heart.
Let us not forget that it is Pie Day tomorrow.
B.Stover, I would like to put my order in early.
1. Key Lime Gluten Free Pie
2. Gluten Free Pecan Pie
Thank you very much.
12:41 pm on March 13th, 2013
I know Wookie will look after AJ and the dogs.
Rose, you are welcome.
It isn’t very long until the start of the baseball season….butterscotch.
12:48 pm on March 13th, 2013
I friend of mine is a fellow Safety Patroller who has listened to me talk about the Iditarod for the third year now. She wants to make the trip with me next year.
12:55 pm on March 13th, 2013
MollyPop’s Mom. That would be fantastic.
Siber-H, you don’t even need to mention The Dreaded Word. It’s Pie Day tomorrow. That old number . . 3.14
The best pie chart I have ever seen . .

12:59 pm on March 13th, 2013
Melanie, That looks like lemon pie. If I remember correctly, you don’t like lemon pie any better than I do.
1:02 pm on March 13th, 2013
OHs: Tell the ‘rents it is the best anniversary gift ever!
1:09 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wow, how exciting that more of us may make it to the race next year! We hope Mom and Dad can work something out. They both really want to go.
GO SNOWHOOK!!!
1:12 pm on March 13th, 2013
WOW!!!! Especially if Kat’s Aunt MollysMom is there too! Any more Plunderers want to give it a try? We could have such a great PARTEE !
1:12 pm on March 13th, 2013
O Double-Wow! Gus and BooBear’s mom and dad too!!!! The more of youse that are thinking about it, the better chance Mom will have of coaxing Pop into it!
1:13 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wose, We are thinking that they will need a 2-week vacation for this one. We are worried how that will affect our summer 2-week vaca and our Christmas vaca.
1:33 pm on March 13th, 2013
Rebecca and I are having the best time. I love Nome! Thinking of you. Will post more later.
More than two Plunderers at the start line? What could be better, you tell me. Remember that if I am living in Anchorage next year, “mi casa es su casa.”
1:45 pm on March 13th, 2013
OHs: The Prof basically told me the same thing. No summer vacation if I want to go back to Alaska.
1:46 pm on March 13th, 2013
Gracias, C Hobbit!
1:46 pm on March 13th, 2013
CHobbit!…You better plan on buying a great big house!…snort!snort!
1:50 pm on March 13th, 2013
Cabin!…I have my very own Little Cabin In The Woods to stay in if I decide to go up North to Alaska…heh!heh!
1:50 pm on March 13th, 2013
Rebecca and I are having the best time. I love Nome! Thinking of you. Will post more later. Slow connection.
More than two Plunderers at the starting line? What could be better, you tell me. Remember that if I am living in Anchorage next year, “mi casa es su casa”
1:52 pm on March 13th, 2013
White smoke…..
1:52 pm on March 13th, 2013
You guys are cracking me up.
I just made brownies.
1:54 pm on March 13th, 2013
Ha ha double Dawson. I kept losing my AT&T connection on my iPaw so I switched to GCI on my iPhone and posted the same message
1:58 pm on March 13th, 2013
They reported on the race on the Chicago noon news, but they mispronounced Iditarod! Gah!
That is a mighty nice offer C.Hobbit. Makes the trip more affordable, too.
1:59 pm on March 13th, 2013
C Hobbit. Most double Dawson’s are sequential, while yours was bifurcated. That’s even higher on the degree of difficulty scale.
2:02 pm on March 13th, 2013
CHobbit!…What are you guys doing right now?…snort!…Besides techno magic…sniff!
2:12 pm on March 13th, 2013
SiberH!…This is for you from CHobbit…snort!…I was supposed to give it to you this morning and I forgot, somehow….burp!
2:45 pm on March 13th, 2013
C Hobbit, how cold is it in Nome?
2:51 pm on March 13th, 2013
Thank you C.Harris and Rio! Those stuffed puppies are so cute in the sled. They would be up on a top shelf if they were in this house…sigh
2:53 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wose, According to the GPS Tracker, it is 13 degrees in Nome. That isn’t cold.
2:57 pm on March 13th, 2013
It is colder than I expected on the coast (re discussion on humidity) so. I have bought warmer clothes. I am all puffy now. A case of bottled water that is 8.95 in North Pole is 24.95 in Nome
2:58 pm on March 13th, 2013
Thank you, Siber-H.
I wish you could have those stuffed puppies and the sled.
3:10 pm on March 13th, 2013
Puppies are cute. In a sled? Priceless . . snicker
How on earth do you pronounce Iditarod wrong?
Our vet and husband, office manager and tech, came over today to bring back our Subaru. They had both of their cars fail on one day. So we offered them the one we weren’t using. They have decided that heated seats will be on their next car.
Have I told you guys that GLAD is being represented by a gallery? Awesome.
We have had a good day. Just a few tears. That is how it should be. . The Raven was (and is) a cool dude.
3:11 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oh, and Mac is handsome. Not beautiful. No bows, no glitter, no paw nail polish, just a masculine bandana.
3:18 pm on March 13th, 2013
Hooray! Safe in Elim with Wookie.
CHobbit: Wow! That’s a steep price for water.
I’ve been getting my taxes done, part one (sigh)
3:22 pm on March 13th, 2013
RIO! With your own little cabin in the woods, there is no reason for you not to go to Alaska, and meet your boy in person.
3:25 pm on March 13th, 2013
Melanie, I-dite-a-rod. Long i on the dite.
Those puppies are sooo cute. Are you sure they aren’t real? Snicker
3:29 pm on March 13th, 2013
Maggie, banging head on the desk. I remember the Chicago accent. I used to have it. Long “I”. Whap. Ow, that hurt.
3:40 pm on March 13th, 2013
Hmmm…pondering what a flight to either Anchorage or Nome would be for Mama. We just might be able to scratch together enough pennies out of our treat budget. Of course, we could do a lot better if she would crawl out of her shell and get her web site going…..
just sayin’
Melanie – Gramp came back from his walk with Callie and said that there was a big Raven in the back yard. We figured it was a crow since Callie has it in her genes to dislike Ravens, and she wasn’t barking at it. But we went outside, and sure enough, it was indeed a Raven. Sitting on the top of the tool shed. And Callie saw him and didn’t say a word. She must have known that he was a good, story telling Raven.
3:44 pm on March 13th, 2013
Congratulations to GLAD!
3:55 pm on March 13th, 2013
Gallery!….Whooo Hoooo!…This means really big bucks, right?…snort!
4:02 pm on March 13th, 2013
It means that she gets known and then maybe some nit so big bucks.
4:05 pm on March 13th, 2013
T&G: Get the web site going.
4:23 pm on March 13th, 2013
Certain Corgis may be submitted to Dogs Gone Bad site. Only part of the mess from the shredded woobie remains, while they are passed out from their exertions.
sigh

4:26 pm on March 13th, 2013
Golinka!…heh!snort!heh!…Now that’s funny.
4:39 pm on March 13th, 2013
T&G! Good job! Rest up, now.
Yesterday, we all had to stay in while the rents were at work. When Mom got home, every single waste can was emptied, except the kitchen because it is a bin that we can’t open. There were tissues chewed and shredded in every room. Mom laughed.
Good for GLAD! We’d better commission some portraits before she is too famous for us little guys. And we still want that painting of the halter on the stall door.
Hobbit!!! What are you and Bella doing that is so much fun? We here are so jealous. We want to have fun in Nome too!
So is our next Plunderer mission a trip to Alaska? It is starting to sound like it!!!
4:43 pm on March 13th, 2013
Woobie!…What’s a woobie?…grunt!
4:49 pm on March 13th, 2013
What is a woobie?
5:03 pm on March 13th, 2013
Corgis, Mommy thinks you are so cute and adorable. If I did that, I’d be in big trouble!
5:05 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oleys – I bet a lot of that mess was made by my Dear Niece Kat. She’s very good at that, you know.
5:15 pm on March 13th, 2013
I don’t know what a woobie is either.
5:30 pm on March 13th, 2013
They changed the camera position at the finish in Nome and it eliminates any view of the musher and the dogs.
5:31 pm on March 13th, 2013
I don’t either
5:39 pm on March 13th, 2013
Well guys, when Kelly’s and Jessica’s kids were little and they were nursing, they all called it Woobie. As in “Do you want some Woobie, or the baby wants woobie”. Somehow, don’t think that is what T & G mean by that term!
5:41 pm on March 13th, 2013
Woobies are fun toys, that you can swing around in the air, and play tug of war with, and there are streamer-like pieces that you can use to hurt your eyes. heh heh…we here know all about woobies. Say, we have not seen ours in quite awhile. Bet the fox grabbed it. He loves our toys.
MPM, Kat was the sole trash can moocher. You can bet your bottom dollar on that. Mom says if chewing tissues from the trash is the worst thing a puppy ever did, she’ll take it.
5:42 pm on March 13th, 2013
AJ still has not left Elim. Phillip said that he and the dogs were really tired when they got there. We are worried that they may be sick.
5:44 pm on March 13th, 2013
Checked out!
5:45 pm on March 13th, 2013
AJ checked out of Elim at 14:40.
5:54 pm on March 13th, 2013
Geez guys – Mama has to embarrass us by telling you about our “woobies”. They are just stuffed toys. Only if you say “go get your woobie” to Gilly, she runs like crazy to the basket where all the toys are kept, and gets the one she wants to play with.
Personally, I am far too dignified. I prefer to chew on a bone. But when Gilly decides she has had enough of a toy, she shreds it, and boy is it fun to get in on that action! Some woobies last for months and months, and then one day – whammo – its indoor blizzard time with woobie stuffing EVERYWHERE.
5:54 pm on March 13th, 2013
and they do mean EVERYWHERE.

sigh.
6:00 pm on March 13th, 2013
And he’s off!
6:01 pm on March 13th, 2013
My email from Iditarod is slow. Sigh
6:01 pm on March 13th, 2013
T&G: That picture of youse is so very cute!
Melanie: Good on GLAD!
Oh, Sammie, I could never be mad at you!
6:03 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oh dear, Poor Basil.
I had the live finish up on my computer and suddenly I was hearing talk so I went to see if someone was coming in. No one was. What had happened was that someone’s mike was live and we could hear all the insider guys talking about who got laid and drunk and assorted other things that would not normally go out over the air. Some of the people on the chat knew the voices and could tell who was talking. Then a phone rang and they were told they had a live mike. Drat. It took them a while to find it though. They didn’t believe the caller. snicker.
6:04 pm on March 13th, 2013
What are C Hobbit and Rebecca up to right now, I wonder….
6:07 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oh, Basil….the humiliation!
Staff, that is a funny story!
6:10 pm on March 13th, 2013
Staff, wasn’t that hilarious?! They kept insisting that there was no open mic, then, Oh here it is. *silence* Busted up the fun everyone was having eavesdropping!
6:13 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oh Staff, why oh why didn’t we have that on! We have not watched any of the live finishes yet. We’ll put it on now though.
Good thing you didn’t hear C.Hobbit and Bella chiming in! 🙂
6:26 pm on March 13th, 2013
Oh, Basil. LOL! Sorry….
6:32 pm on March 13th, 2013
6:48 pm on March 13th, 2013
My mama sent a text to Philip asking how the dogs are doing. He said the dogs look good. He said Quig is a bit sore, but everyone else is doing awesome. The musher is not doing so awesome. Philip used words like beat up, sick, and tired.
My mama says if you ever want to feel like a super-sized human, just hang out with Wose or CHH, both of which are mini-mc-skinnies. They went to the store so CHH could get some warmer clothes and she fits into a child sized bibs. But, I sure look up to my mama—I have no other choice, what with her being a giant compared to the Plunderers.
6:49 pm on March 13th, 2013
OMG, Staff, how embarassing for those guys. There could be difficulties if info was broadcasted that shouldn’t have been. However, serves them right!
7:02 pm on March 13th, 2013
Good thing that wasn’t broadcasted over the major three networks. Fines galore.
7:07 pm on March 13th, 2013
What is wrong with AJ?
7:08 pm on March 13th, 2013
Did the broadcasters mention any women’s names? That way the lawsuits could be getting started.
7:10 pm on March 13th, 2013
I’m taking lots of photos but the internet connections are so slow. I’ve tried emailing some photos to Rio; we’ll see if they turn up. If they do, I’ll send more. Rebecca heading to race headquarters to hang out and hear the stories, I’m going to walk around and explore. Daylight until 9 pm or so.
7:21 pm on March 13th, 2013
Wish we had been listening to the broadcast too. tee hee.
We were looking up information on the next checkpoint, and found some interesting things about this mostly Native village
One of the first things we should tell you is that there is also an Apache reservation and area that is called White Mountain.
And that Apaches and Alaskan Natives are both from the same Athabaskan roots, with similar language, customs and beliefs.
And that the Natives of the Alaska White Mountain community hunt for caribou and fish for salmon
And that the Natives of the Apache White Mountain hunt for elk and fish for Apache Trout
And that both are at the foot of a sacred mountain.
We don’t know the medicine songs of the Alaskan Native people, but our languages are versions of each other, with dialectical and idiomatic changes, and we have heard people say that with time, we can understand each other.
So – we wanted to do a medicine song for AJ and the puppies. We think that with all the commonality we have with the Alaskan people, it would be alright with them if we do a song from the White Mountain Apaches.
This will be our prayer tonight – if you can, please face the west as you read it.
7:36 pm on March 13th, 2013
Poor AJ. Only 30-some miles to go.
And also poor Quig.
7:40 pm on March 13th, 2013
Dad and Mom were just talking about next year. They can’t do the whole race like OH’s rents are wanting to do. So they are going to try to do the pre race activities and then the two starts. Mom usually can’t take off the beginning of the month but she may have to ask for an exception next year! How fun if several of us can go.
Congrats to GLAD! Mom is on her email list and had seen that posted. She is very talented.
T&G, we will be facing west.
7:44 pm on March 13th, 2013
OH’s, is that 30 miles to Nome? We know AJ would have to be really sick to drop out now. He should be on proud of the dogs! They have been real troopers, well, maybe not Jem, but we love him anyway!
7:44 pm on March 13th, 2013
We will face west and sing the song.
7:46 pm on March 13th, 2013
CHobbit!…I’m on it!…wheeze!…I’ve been drug all over this neighborhood for hours and hours, but now I am home…sneeze!
7:50 pm on March 13th, 2013
No, G&BB. We meant 30-some to White Mountain. He gets a mandatory 8 hours rest there.

Giant!…I’m so sad to hear that our Giant is not doing so well…sniffle!…I hope he can make it those last long miles…wheeze!….The A-Team will take care of him and get him to Nome safely!….Geeee!Hawwww!
7:58 pm on March 13th, 2013
So AJ will not finish tonight for sure?
7:58 pm on March 13th, 2013
The pictures are fantastic (other than having to lean sideways). Love the sign with all of our names. Thank you, C.Hobbit.
8:00 pm on March 13th, 2013
Creator – we thank you for the continuing strength that you give to AJ and the team. We thank you for guiding them gently over the frozen sea, and giving them restorative rest. As they start the last stretch of their journey, when legs are tired, when lungs are weary, when sleep has been chased away, we ask you to hear the songs of the People, and bring their healing to AJ and the dogs.
The Sun is setting in the west
The Sun is setting in the west
The Sun will rest before the day
The Sun will rest before the day
I am small and weak in the dark night
And come to you with my prayer
I am lonely and quiet in the dark night
And come to you with my prayer
When morning comes, and the Sun is born
Let my feet be as new as the Sun
Let my heart be as new as the Sun
Let my hands be as new as the Sun
Let my eyes be as new as the Sun
Let my breath be as new as the Sun
Then Sun and I will travel west
We will share our stories and the road will be short
I will thank the Sun that lights the road
Until the time when the Sun will rest
Until the time when the Sun will rest.
Creator – we thank you for the continuing strength that you give to AJ and the team. We thank you for hearing our prayers and guiding them gently over the frozen sea. We thank you for hearing our prayers and giving them restorative rest. Soon they will start the last of their journey. Their legs are tired, their lungs are weary, and sleep has been chased away. We ask you to hear our prayer, sent in the songs of the People. Let our prayer bring healing to AJ and the dogs.

Amen.
8:04 pm on March 13th, 2013

Amen. That was lovely.
8:06 pm on March 13th, 2013
Straight!…I straightened all the photos before posting them…grunt!…I have no idea why the Howlers are seeing them sideways…sniff!
8:07 pm on March 13th, 2013

The rents are heading off to their big bed. That means it is time for us to go to the Bed Ball. Good night. Sweet dreams of White Mountain.
We will keep praying for The Giant.

CHobbit & Rio:Great pictures!
If AJ’s time to White Mountain is similar to others’, he should arrive there 11pm EDT (7AK???). With an 8 hour layover, he should go out after 7am EDT. Does this make sense?
8:15 pm on March 13th, 2013
Thank you and amen.
Thank you for the pictures. They were right side up here.
8:18 pm on March 13th, 2013

Great pictures. Thanks CHobbit and Rio.
And the pictures were right side up for us.
Amalia and Leonard, Thank you for letting us help in the prayer. I sort of chanted. I think my singing would not help.
I hope AJ knows that his health is the most important thing for us. Well, aside from the rest of the teams health.
8:26 pm on March 13th, 2013
Amen. It is always good to make a joyful noise. (I was going to say song, but between Rio and the Herbs joining in, my ears hurt.
Great pictures. I think Rio might have been doing an upside down back scratch and roll when he posted.
I will be checking in much later. Patsy and I are tired tonight.

We don’t know what time AJ will arrive in Nome, but I am giving up the dog park in the morning so we will be sure to be at the computer to see him and the team cross the finish line.
We will turn on the computer as soon as we wake up.
9:32 pm on March 13th, 2013
SiberH!…What’s yer best guess as to the time our team will be in Nome? Our time that is…sniff!….And they should all be honored that you will be giving up time at the park to watch them finish the race…heh!
9:33 pm on March 13th, 2013

Rio, The really bad news is that I have no idea when AJ and the team will arrive in Nome. I have never been any good at figuring out how long it takes anybody to get anywhere in the Iditarod. I just watch their little green flags move across Alaska.
10:01 pm on March 13th, 2013
SiberH!…That really is bad news…grunt!…I guess we will have to just play it by ear tomorrow…sniff!
Icicles!…Our team is out on the ice right now…wheeze!

Checkpoint Golovin! (or close to it)
Spencer Quinn and Admin sponsored this checkpoint for our Snowhook team. Thanks OFA!
And later, while most of us sleep, is White Mountain checkpoint sponsored by Gus&BooBear in honor of their Dad kicking cancer to the curb!
The 8 hour mandatory stop will be taken here. Hooray, Snowhook dogs and musher will get some rest.
10:22 pm on March 13th, 2013
Golovin!…Looks like the team is in Golovin!….WoooooHooooo for Spence and Admin’s checkpoint!….snort!
e
Trail!…It also looks like AJ is veering off the trail onto a sidestreet in Golovin….sniff!….I wonder if they are going to take a rest before heading out to White Mountain…wheeze!…If AJ is not feeling tip-top, I think they should stop and rest….wuffle!
10:31 pm on March 13th, 2013
Team!….Well they blew through Golovin…snort!….Out on the Ice again…wheeze!…I’m told I have to go up to my warm soft bed right now, but I will be thinking of our team every time I open my eyes tonight…wuffle!…Please be safe Team Snowhook!…snort!

Thanks for helping us out, Whitey-Lance, about the time of AJ’s arrival in Nome. I’m still not going to the dog park in the morning just in case AJ and the team need some strong cheering from NM.
Night all

It looks like AJ is on the ice to me. However this is a ‘lagoon.’ It has land on many sides so I hope the ice doesn’t get moved around as much as open sea ice does. We can probably tell by how fast he is going. It looks like he has to cross about 8 miles. If he can go about 6 mph then that should be about an hour. 6×8=48 Give or take a mile or two.
Does that work for you Mr.Husky? All that figuring out of yardage for quilts does come in handy.
10:54 pm on March 13th, 2013
Looks like he’s got 13 more miles, and then he can feed the pups, bed them down and maybe get some rest himself.
11:31 pm on March 13th, 2013
Well I have to get some rest myself. Nighty noodle everyone. And Liz too. G’day Liz.
1:02 am on March 14th, 2013
The team is in for an 8 hour snooze, so we will do the same.
Nightly noodles.

Coach W-L, our weather too has kicked up. After 50 degrees and sun yesterday, woke up to snow showers and wind that won’t quit.
The Pack is enjoying it mightily.
They are willing to get bleached, pretend to be polar bears and help get OFT to Nome. Just give the word. They also said something about blurring back before the arch just incase some people don’t like Polar Bears.
8:47 am on March 14th, 2013
Just saw they are on their way. Hmm, I saw it from Snowhook’s FaceBookie. It still hasn’t updated on my computer. sigh.
