I Vant To Sock Your Blahd
Count Dracula appeared right in our house! Walking down the hall with his arms raised up high! He was way taller than I’d imagined. Of course I attacked him right away – homeland security is my job. But it was only Bernie – I found out just a bit too late – trying on his Halloween costume. No one told me Halloween was coming. I like all the holidays – Thanksgiving especially – but not Halloween. What gets into people on Halloween? You tell me.

LOL! Oh Chet! I hope Bernie is okay. I couldn't begin to tell you what gets into people on Halloween.
4:14 am on October 29th, 2010
Chet: Good job on the homeland security! snicker
So Dracula was a lot taller than you thought. You must watch the Dracula films on the TV set. He is much smaller on that.
How is Bernie, by the way?
Morning B.Stover: the wiz of Giantry!
4:25 am on October 29th, 2010
Good morning Melanie. The Giants went!
Chet: I think the best Dracula movie is the one with Gary Oldman, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. (I gave a paper at a conference once on Dracula movies with a friend. She looked at two early movies and I looked at two contemporary versions. Fun.)
Wolfie: What as it like on Venus?
4:35 am on October 29th, 2010
B.Stover: Good job on asking about Venus. I meant to ask . .
We try to watch as many OLD horror movies during the month of October. Zoë said there was one when she was growing up that petrified her. It had wolf-man and I think the mummy in it.
My scary movie has always been The Birds Yikes. I never fail to say, "Don't open that door, don't open that door." But Tippi Hedren ALWAYS opens the door.
Of course, her role, "Melanie" snicker, reminds me of another Melanie who always has to push the buttons with no lables and open the doors.
Jeez.
4:40 am on October 29th, 2010
Chet, did you grab a pant leg? Hope Bernie has only minor injuries.
Melanie, we were just talking about The Birds the other day. Barb said any time she sees a bunch of birds lined up on a power line, it reminds her of that movie.
Barb has to work at the real estate office for the mean lady today. She is leaving me home cause I would want to show that lady my teeth, for sure. She is turning off the computer, but she says she will post from the office when she has time. BBL

It looks like we slept through some very boring – yawn – baseball. Does everyone just sit there and watch someone throw a ball? Could dogs maybe chase the ball to liven it up a bit?
5:09 am on October 29th, 2010
I just want you guys to know that I now have a flat lip.
I dreamed that I found Patsy crying over Ros who was having trouble breathing. I yelled for Zoë and started working on Ros. I then woke myself up.
Not a good way to wake up.
But later this morning, I went to Ros and told her that I wouldn't let that happen to her, she was so happy, she jerked her head up and smashed my lip against my teeth.
Jeez.

B. – Mom got the Bookworm game over 7 million!
5:14 am on October 29th, 2010
Queen Bee: Mistress of Giant Wizardness…..
Venus was amazing!! Now, mind you, I was blurring at warp speed (faster than the speed of light, for sure) so everything appeared to be a little, well, blurry. But I remember that it was either really, really cold or really, really hot. There were no trees to mark, so I couldn't stay too long because I had to go really, really, bad. It was a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. But oh, the earth looked so pretty from afar.
5:17 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollypop: Wow!! Bookworm Queen!
The Birds is one of my favorite movies.
5:18 am on October 29th, 2010
Melanie, I'm sorry you had a bad dream. I don't like dreams like that. My favorite dreams are when I go running really fast and Mom says that my legs are running in real life. She says it always makes me laugh.
Yes, yesterday's game was a little one sided, but don't blame Bee. She is a rookie and doesn't know her own power yet. Saturday's game will be much better because she will be busy practicing. Just wait and see.
5:20 am on October 29th, 2010
Well, it makes her laugh, lol.
5:20 am on October 29th, 2010
Wolfie: Planet Earth is beautiful. Warp speed is faster than the speed of light, right? Where is Mr. Spock when you need him?
Melanie: I hope your lip is okay.
5:22 am on October 29th, 2010
I would love to see a photo of Bernie in his Halloween costume with a few bites taken out of it. Good job, Chet! One can never be too careful.
Chet, are you dressing up for Halloween?
5:24 am on October 29th, 2010
Mr Spock, indeed! I asked for some assistance but the Enterprise was fighting a battle in a distant galaxy far, far away.
5:35 am on October 29th, 2010
Has B been in secret traing with the Jedi or with Yoda? I think the Force is with her.
5:39 am on October 29th, 2010
Barb here. I would bet Chet is NOT dressing up for Halloween! Too silly for him. Leave the dressing up to the humans.
Last time my granddaughters were out, Baye threw a ball to Maggie. I said "She doesn't chase balls, Baye". She said "Oh, that's cause it's not a real job". Maggie probably wouldn't dress up either.
5:49 am on October 29th, 2010
Halloween!…We don’t do halloween at our house….snort!….No kids allowed either. No free kandy to anyone dammit!… grump! ….Last year her best friend from the farm, the one who Pepper lives with, she brought us this HUGE pumkin…snort!… It was amazing!! Someone stole it!…. growl! ….We hate Halloween…snarl!
5:52 am on October 29th, 2010
Riö! I see that you are your cheerful morning self!
Barb and MagPie: I'm glad that you have started the young'uns right!
5:54 am on October 29th, 2010
Sam: I don't think B.Stover could stand to be around Yoda with his grammatical structure.
Wölfie! Blur your way over here and I'll give you one of the Packs's pumpkins!

Here's an article from The Guardian. It's about Dracula and about one quarter of the way down starts on Bram Stoker's novel. It's a very good novel if anyone hasn't read it yet.

Rio, If you did dress up, you would be a cute Yoda!
6:11 am on October 29th, 2010
Who was 100 yesterday..Mollypop? or should I mention it..
6:11 am on October 29th, 2010
MagPie!…You know me well enough by now to know that I dress not up! Yes, hmmm.
6:12 am on October 29th, 2010
Rio does remind me a little bit of Yoda. Yoda is wise you know.
6:14 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollie ABP – I couldn't have been 100 (oh please). We went to bed early, like most always.
6:15 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollie!…Someone number 100 besides siberh, there was, sniff! hmm?
6:16 am on October 29th, 2010
I wanted to stay up later last night, just to taunt Macy, but Mom dragged me off to bed.
I can still taunt her later.
6:29 am on October 29th, 2010
Heh!… Posting in Yoda-speak I like. Yes, hmmm.
6:30 am on October 29th, 2010
I was number 100 last night. Thanks for the picture Rio.
6:32 am on October 29th, 2010
Our favorite Dracula movie is Horror of Dracula with Christopher Lee. One of our all time favorite horror movies "Curse of the Demon" is on one of the movie channels this evening. We are going to try to watch it.
Stover, mom has read Dracula about 4 times in her lifetime, starting when she was very young. A sequel to it came out this past year that was written by one of Brahm Stoker's decendants. It wasn't very good.
Myself, I'm into werewolves.
6:33 am on October 29th, 2010
Wise, you know, Yoda was.
Riö: The whole day, you should this way write, I think.
6:33 am on October 29th, 2010
It was the Battle of the Alamo all over again last night, wasn't it?
6:37 am on October 29th, 2010
A Halloween picture I am trying to come up with.
Several years ago this one was.

6:38 am on October 29th, 2010
100th!… Only apply to the day it happens, the 100 rule should….snort!… Excused from a good long slobbering, Stover you are. Yes, hmmm.
6:42 am on October 29th, 2010
Object Subject Verb word order is making me seasick.
6:45 am on October 29th, 2010
Keep talking that way Rio, I can hear Yoda's voice in my mind when you do…
6:46 am on October 29th, 2010
Rio, keep making Stover seasick until the World Series is over with.
6:49 am on October 29th, 2010
I shall attack you with lightsabers. The force is with me.
6:54 am on October 29th, 2010
When the moom is full, I turn into a wolf, but, alas, I am a friendly wolf.
6:56 am on October 29th, 2010
Ghosts!…. Who wants to read a poem called Ghosts written by Fannie Stearns Davis? …snort!
6:58 am on October 29th, 2010
SH: Just like Lupin in Harry Potter except when he's a werewolf he isn't friendly.
6:59 am on October 29th, 2010
A newf-wolf in Melanie's graveyard picture.
I think we're proving Chet's point today.
7:04 am on October 29th, 2010
B.Stover. I think you're right.
7:40 am on October 29th, 2010
No one?…. Therefore, continue to speak in Yoda-speak, will I….hmmm.
7:42 am on October 29th, 2010
Oh, Chet. Candy gets into people on Halloween. One for the kids in the funny costumes and one for me. One for me. One for me.
We love Yoda: DO OR NOT DO. THERE IS NO TRY.
Just like Chet just gets things done.
Have a good weekend, Everybody.

I guess I did it right, picture came up. This costume will not stay on me long.
7:49 am on October 29th, 2010
If you can't guess, I'm a pumpkin.
7:50 am on October 29th, 2010
Melanie, Like you Newfie graveyard photo, do I. Not sure if that was Yoda speak or not.
7:52 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollie!…. A black and orange poodle….snort!… For a giants fan very fitting… Yeesssssss.
7:56 am on October 29th, 2010
Put up the poem Rio.
8:01 am on October 29th, 2010
Stover!…No!
8:05 am on October 29th, 2010
That is very cute, Mollie. I think you could win one of those doggy costume contests with that orange costume and your black hair.
We are getting some nice Halloween photos on the blog today. We like Melanie's Newf photo. Halloween photos with dogs in them are the best kind!
8:06 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollie ABP, you look edible! I'll make sure the Newfs don't mistake you for a walking pumpkin!
8:07 am on October 29th, 2010
aww, come on, Rio, put up the poem. We are getting into the spirit of this holiday.
8:13 am on October 29th, 2010
Sniff!… This is a holiday not! Post a gross children's rhyme instead I will. Hmmmmmm.
Don't you ever laugh as the hearse goes by,
For you may be the next to die.
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet.
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks.
All goes well for about a week,
Then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it on a slice of bread,
And that's what you eat when you are dead.
8:28 am on October 29th, 2010
Heh!…No one wanted the poem. So gross rhyme instead, you got. Yes, hmmm.
8:32 am on October 29th, 2010
I think I'll skip lunch today.
8:35 am on October 29th, 2010
Zoë taught me this song when I was little.
I thought it was great then!
Still do!
Though unlike Siber-H, I've already had lunch.
8:44 am on October 29th, 2010
The only part I remember is the worms crawl in worms crawl out bit. I already had lunch also.

************ Possible Spoiler for Reality Check ************
************************************************************
Book!…We haven’t been able to read much this week…snort!… We are at the point where Cody is in the bar being served by Len. Len is trying to get him drunk….grunt!… For some reason I think that cop Orton is involved somehow with her missing. We think he may have even shot the horse. If that is actually what happened, I can’t put my paw on why yet…grunt!
9:20 am on October 29th, 2010
Rio: What chapter are you in? (It's on my Kindle.)
9:23 am on October 29th, 2010
*************** Another Possible Spoiler for Reality Check ******************
********************************************************************
Ike!….Actually, I think I started thinking differently about that cop Orton after Cody had his run in with Ike!…snort!… Ike tends to blurt out the obvious in an unusual way. He doesn’t like Orton at all….sniff!
9:25 am on October 29th, 2010
Stover!… We are on chapter 22 – Cody is trying to turn down a shot of bourbon from Len …snort!
9:59 am on October 29th, 2010
Rio, LOVED the poem! We're not big horror fans but Mom remembers seeing an old black and white Joan Crawford movie called "Straightjacket". Was absolutely the scariest movie she had ever seen. Has anyone else seen it?
10:05 am on October 29th, 2010
Stover!… Am I totally off base on the story?…grunt!
Puss N’ Boots!….Joan Crawford alone is enough to scare anyone out of their fur!…yeep!
10:26 am on October 29th, 2010
Yeep!…Joan Crawford is on the left!….gasp!

10:50 am on October 29th, 2010
Well, my post of 12:45 did not have the picture work, but the link does.
Think "It was a dark and stormy night" when you look at it.
11:13 am on October 29th, 2010
Rio: You are not totally off base.
11:16 am on October 29th, 2010
Melanie: The photo is "awful," meaning it fills one with awe.
11:21 am on October 29th, 2010
Mollie, you make a very cute pumpkin!
All you Ranger fans had better be nice to Bee. The Force is with her and I would hate to see repeat of yesterday happen tomorrow.
For some reason, Mom thought that the invisable man was the scariest movie ever. And The Birds, too, but that goes without saying. Ohhhh, makes me quiver just to think of those filthy feathered foes.
11:26 am on October 29th, 2010
Stover!… When I first read your post I thought you said I was Totally Off Base and I wimpered al little….heh!… Then I re-read every word. I’m gonna figure this one out maybe…snort!….I’m almost positive gambling is involved…sneeze!
11:40 am on October 29th, 2010
Haha! Hope Bernie is feeling alright. I'm going as a bumblebee I think. Megan's going as Michael Jackson. I wish you all a good, happy Halloween!! Muahahahaha!!!!
11:42 am on October 29th, 2010
Melanie, I might stop by tomorrow! Just thinking about that Venus trip has plumb tuckered me out. That was a long, long, trip.
11:44 am on October 29th, 2010
Lexi? Lexi? Is that you?
Yay, Lexi is back!!! Wolfie is blurring with joy!!! I have missed you so much!! whoo hoo!!!!!!!
11:45 am on October 29th, 2010
Oh and Rio, the poem was GOOD!!! Love it!

Book!… I’m pretty sure we will be finishing up Reality Check this weekend….snort!…We may take a break from the Charming Mr. Abrahams books and start on one of our No# Ladies Detective Agency….heh!…It’s been a long time since we read any of those….woof!
12:32 pm on October 29th, 2010
Lil' Lexi – Where have you been? We've all been so worried.
1:58 pm on October 29th, 2010
Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi, Lexi!!!!!!!!!!
That was from all the Pack!
Welcome back.
2:13 pm on October 29th, 2010
Wow! Lil Lexi is back! We were worried you got caught be one of those pit bulls!
2:26 pm on October 29th, 2010
Good Eeeeeevening! (think Hitchcock)
Molly, you are just being a brat now. We have nothing to be ashamed of. The Rangers entire season's efforts were just to make sure that the Yankers did not go to the series. Mission Accomplished.
2:32 pm on October 29th, 2010
We just got back from Arlington, where Mom took pictures of the Ballpark with the big World Series banners at all the entrances. There was a couple there with a professional photographer making their engagement pictures. True fans.
There are barriers all around the park to thwart terrorists I guess. I was just so excited to be the "go dog" today. Belle went too. First we had to go to the Big Orange Box so mom could get her flu shot. Then off to Arlington. Usually when we have an outing it ends with me getting my nails did. Luckily today was perfect, nails went undid.
2:38 pm on October 29th, 2010
I am really tired of political
cartoonsads. We just turn off the sound now and try not to pay attention, but this last one????No noise, and there was a doberman snarling on TV. Lots of written words, that didn't make any sense, and there was a puppy. A nice sweet puppy playing in a field.
I don't know WHO or WHAT party this was for . . . But to use harmless dogs???
I have had it!!
2:53 pm on October 29th, 2010
We have had it to, Melanie. I can't believe that the politicans think those robo-phone calls help their campaign. We never answer the phone calls, but they are still extremely annoying. It will all be over with soon.
One of the women running for governor in this state has a Husky in one of her tv ads. The poor dog is obese. What kind of governor would she make if she can't take good care of her dog.
2:54 pm on October 29th, 2010
Welcome back Lexi!!! We have missed you!
3:04 pm on October 29th, 2010
Hmmm!…No ball game tonight!….snort!… I am wondering what to do….sniff!…She has turned On Demand to Cap-frack-rica so maybe I will beg to get on the couch and snuffle around there…snuff! … ….the worms crawl in – the worms crawl out….. Sort of reminds me of all the politician’s nasty adds this year…Filthy flesh eating worms…gag! …Not getting my vote, and I am over 18….snort!
3:21 pm on October 29th, 2010
Riö: Not sure what Political Party you would belong to.
Umm. . .
Pugnacious Pugs?
Curmudgeon Canines?
Not sure. But I bet the slogan would be . .
"A chicken in my pot and Slim Jims for me!"
3:45 pm on October 29th, 2010
Adds!… No one has yet to come up with a campaign add which has caught my attention or reflected my ideals…snort!… Absolutely no candidate has once said, “Pug food bowls full all year long.”, “Baseball played all year long.”, “Yankees barred from game all year long.”, “ Breaking Bad on all year long.”, “Spencer to write four books this year alone.”…sniff!…There is no one worthy to vote for!…grunt!
3:59 pm on October 29th, 2010
I am so used to watching baseball games, I can't decide what to do. Games will continue tomorrow though I think.
4:05 pm on October 29th, 2010
The World Series will continue tomorrow at 4:30 my time. After the series is over with, I think we will have a nasty period of adjustment to go through.
4:06 pm on October 29th, 2010
Had to say Good Night before 100!
Good Night!
4:08 pm on October 29th, 2010
Mollie!…Why don’t you go A’ Trick Or Treatin’ in your pumpkin costume?….snort!… Maybe score some chew strips and slim jims, or even some milk bones…heh! …Whatever will we do all winter long when there is No More Baseball?…sob!sob!sob!
4:09 pm on October 29th, 2010
C-R-A-P!…snort!
4:10 pm on October 29th, 2010
Rio: I think you're number 100.
4:14 pm on October 29th, 2010
I hope tomorrow night will be a real comeuppance for all you Yankee-dissers out there. My poufy (fierce) tail wil be wagging all night long. Suffer Rangers (Rockies) lovers.
4:16 pm on October 29th, 2010
I'm sobbing along with Rio..sob, sob, sob no more baseball
4:26 pm on October 29th, 2010
We are like Grampy. We too have had it up to here with all the political ads. In Illinois, we have some especially nasty one this year.
Was Rio #100? What does that mean?
4:39 pm on October 29th, 2010
Buck-Up!… Good baseball fans. We still have 5 games ahead of us possibly, if we are really lucky!…snort!… We cannot lament the loss of baseball till the WS Fat Lady Sings….sniffle!…There will still be lots of fun before that happens…gruff!
4:40 pm on October 29th, 2010
It means that Rio gives a big sloppy, slurpy, slobery, pug kiss to the #100 post. I don't know how he will handle this one. I guess I could give him a non-slobbery Husky kiss.
4:41 pm on October 29th, 2010
You are right, Rio…I will Cowboy Up about the baseball.
4:47 pm on October 29th, 2010
Suffer?… Not I either way it goes….snort!… I’ve endured heart-break when the Rockies didn’t make the play-offs….grunt!…This is purely for the love of baseball watching the World Series… sniff! …I’ve picked a team and I will stick by them till the end…gruff!….My suggestion to you miss Molly is don’t be so spiteful about the World Series being somewhere besides NY this year…heh!… Fierce or Vengeful? I prefer Fierce!… snort!
5:01 pm on October 29th, 2010
MagPie!… What do you think it means??? I’m not going to slog myself! …grunt!… It means no one deserving of a pug-kiss stepped into number 100 tonight. Simple as that!… snort!
SiberH!…Don't even think about it…snarl!
5:02 pm on October 29th, 2010
Well, I just don't know how it can be a World Series without the Yankees.
5:07 pm on October 29th, 2010
Just lucky I guess
5:09 pm on October 29th, 2010
I decided to read the latest Shirley Rousseau Murphy book called "Cat Coming Home" Very cute cover on it. Sounds like it will be good.
5:10 pm on October 29th, 2010
Heh!…And there folks in one sentence personifies the reason I hate the freakin' Yankees…snorkel!
5:23 pm on October 29th, 2010
Mom says I should perk up and roll with the punches. She's right. I really like Lincecum. Does anyone know when he will be pitching again?
5:23 pm on October 29th, 2010
I see that we are talking baseball even when there is no baseball!
Rio, keep us posted on Reality Check this weekend. We read it too, several months ago.
We need to go nite-nite. Love you guys, and sweet dreams to all.

G’Night!…MagPie and Barb!…snuffle!…Don’t let the bedbugs bite cha in the butt!…heh!

Rangers can look to '96 Yanks for inspiration
The 1996 Yankees are the last of 11 teams to come back from a 2-0 deficit to win the World Series. And that 2-0 hole is precisely where the Rangers find themselves against the Giants with Game 3 slated for Rangers Ballpark on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CT.

We read Reality Check and loved it.

Okay, I am up for 7 games. I would like to see them both pitch again. I think they might both pitch again if we go to 7 games. The managers would have almost no choice but to put them both in again. Gee, the two guys would have all winter to rest. I want Cliff Lee to go on being a Texas ranger.

Yep, I will just hang my head out the window, and with my superb sense of hearing, it will be just like being there, only without the traffic. There was a bit of traffic this afternoon with all the folks like us taking a look at the old ballpark, that is not old.
