Goood morning, everyone! Will miss Barb and Maggie for the next few days. Safe trip to Barb. Not real sure about Rio’s plan with shackles, straightjackets, cholorform and ..what else? Hey, weren’t those dogs lots better looking than the hockey players? We think so!

O’cast and yucky here, was thinking about an early nap…before beginning to winterize gas log, fireplace, heater, hummer feeders…YAWN! Mom made herself tired just making the list (and it doesn’t include the mundane, regular chores she looooves sooo much!).

Good Morning All. Not sure how I ended up sleeping, but I did. Cool.
Supposed to rain here to HOH. Right now the sun is shinning. The Pack had a good time on their walk. They swam in the river and found windfall apples. They chowed down.
I am in a weird space. I leave here about 12:30 to do errands, get to Golinka’s at 2:15, and the scan is scheduled for 3:30. It takes 2 hours because I have to be made to glow.
Might check in later. I know you guys have my back AND all those who are having troubles? I have yours.

Rio asked about “delegation” last night. It’s a noun. “Delegate” is another very interesting word. It’s both noun and verb. When it’s pronounced with a short “a,” it’s a noun (referring to a representative). When it’s pronounced with a long “a,” it’s a verb (give others tasks to perform). It’s derived from Latin “de” and “legare”–to send. (I’m so glad that I didn’t have to learn English as a second language.)

Nana’s son just put this up under her Facebook page.
“This is Barbara’s son Scott. She is in critical care at Skagit Valley hospital and has been there since Sunday. I found her in critical condition at home a day after she was at our house. Please pray for her.”
I know Masquers and BearSpiritDog are with her. I am praying.

Siber H: The problem is that there is soooo much privacy the hospital will not give the average joe the time of day about someone ( unless they can lie their donkey off). Again if mom gets electronic info, she is willing to try OR contact Nana’s son OR go Seattle and contact Nana’s son. Let’s hope we hear something pawsitive soon!

To All–
I just got off the phone with Skagit Valley Hospital. I spoke with a very nice nurse named Maryann. Since she is not Nana’s nurse, she could only tell me that Nana is in the Critical Care Unit, Room 2013. I am going to try back later to see if I can speak directly to Nana’s nurse. No flowers, but balloons are acceptable.

Ok, we have taken the bull by the horns – I know, BIG surprise.
I called the hospital and got ahold of the Barb’s nurse in critical care. I explained that I knew she could not give me any information, but I have left a message for her family to please get in touch with me asap.
I also sent an email to Barb’s business address, hoping that someone is checking those emails.
And to back it up – I also sent an email to the hospital with the same request to pass it along to Barb’s family.
Now, we just have to sit and wait. Have I mentioned that I HATE waiting?

Scott just called me. Nana is still on life support, but improving.
They still do not know what happened, but they think it had to do with her diabetes meds, and her possibly not eating for one or two days. I told him we are all praying, and planning a group prayer tonight. He is appreciative.

I just got off the phone with a very nice florist located 4 miles from the hospital. She is putting a nice mylar balloon arrangement together and will deliver it today. I put that it was from “her friends at Chet the Dog.” That seemed weird enough…I was afraid I would never get her to understand “Plunderers.” I wish I was as good with words as Amalia or Rebecca so that the card could have been super special, but this will have to do. I’m sure she can receive individual get well cards as well. The hospital website has the address posted.

I just called the hospital again. The woman Maryann is very nice. Nana’s nurse is in with Nana right now. I left my cell phone number with her, so if I hear anything further, I will post on the blog ASAP.
I was wondering if it might be a good idea to make sure the emergency list is updated, and everyone knows who there emergency person is. I know I don’t remember mine.

I don’t have one either, OH’s Mom! We can be each others emergency contacts!
The florist called me back. She was going to verify that the hospital would accept a large balloon arrangement (I ordered 10 balloons) and they said no. 3 at the most. So she is putting three balloons with a silk arrangement (this is hard for me since I am not a big fan of silk flowers.) However, she assured me that it is a high end quality of silk flowers and that the arrangement is very nice. Still will be delivered today

HOH – Melanie is back home.
We have a proposal for all of you. We did set up an emergentree quite a while ago. However, some of our members have changed since then – Kirby and MollieABP and Jasper for example.
How about if each one of us sends an email from your own email account to our joint dishlickers account. In that email simply list your name, your phone number and, most importantly, an emergency contact person from your own world and their phone number.
This way, should someone fall off the grid, we don’t have to scramble to find out who their Chet contact person is, and is with the case of Nana, if something should happen to one of us, we would know who would be in that person’s circle of knowledge.
If you all think this is a good idea, I would suggest that you title the email you send to dishlickers as “Emergency Contact for ****”. In a few days, someone can go into dishlickers and group all those emails into a folder titled “Emergency Contacts”.
This was a very scary day, and thanks to Facebook, and a lot of poking and prying, we were able to find out about our Nana, but personally, I could do without having another frightening episode like this.
Remember – we first came up with the emergentree idea after that terrible time Siber’s Mom fell ill, and we couldn’t find her. We realized that many of us could just disappear without a trace. We think it’s time to update our strategy. You are all too dear to us to lose contact.

we will be posting a prayer in just a minute, but we want to tell you that it comes from a beautiful moment we had years ago when my mother was very ill. We had asked people from around the country to join in prayer for her, and when she awoke from her coma, she told us that she had dreamed of being held aloft by many, many caring hands. They kept her safe, and guided her back to us. When it came time to write this prayer, that was the image that kept coming back to us.

Oh boy, Oh boy, Oh boy! You’ll all never ever guess what I did today. I met some Icelandic ponies on Mt Tom. We had already walked a llong way so I was a little tired and maybe I was resting just a little bit. When suddenly there were 3 ginormous, huge, very,very, very large animals right in front of me. Was I scared? Not at all. The nice ladies on top of the animals said to Mommy that I could meet the ponies and I DID!!! They had really soft noses and they weren’t scared of me at all on account of I sat first like Mommy told me. And they could be my friends. But they didn’t want to jump and play but they were still real nice. We walked more than5 miles up to th very top of the mountain daddy says these arn’t real mountains like in his home state but Mommy says they are and I always believe Mommy. Yawn.
