Hockey?

“You don’t know anything about hockey,” Spence says.

“I think the term is derived from the Dutch for hook,” says Admin.

“I’m talking about the game,” Spence says. “Of which you know nothing, and yet you’ve bet a bottle of Highland Park on the Bruins.”

“Right.”

“With your brother Anthony, who lives in Vancouver and knows hockey backwards.”

“Correct.”

Knowing things backwards – that comes up from time to time with humans, may even be in The Dog Who Knew Too Much. As for hockey, I once got hold of a puck. That turned out to be a bit of a challenge. And was I at a game once? Is that in Thereby Hangs A Tail? So much happens in life! Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Welcome Memorial Day Dude, Violet from Ohio, Jasmine Marie Humphries.

And to Buddy-Boy’s human associate – please email spence.quinn@gmail.com with a mailing address for your Friend of the Month prize.

Hockey…another thing to keep the boys occupied. Sounds like Admin is as bad as Bernie. We have a city called Highland Park. What is it bottled?

    Good morning Chet and all.

B.Stover, at least Admin only bets a bottle of beer. The checkbook did not come out.

    See you BSD!

Today is errand day. Our Subaru now has a clutch in it, so we’re returning the rental, picking up the Subaru and then Zoë and I separate to do different errands. I just wish the town wasn’t called Pittsfield!

ME cousin came and fixed the dog platform so it is now sturdier. He also got very cold even in his wet suit, seeing the day never got out of the 50’s. Burr.

    So see you guys later!

Hey! Is that the brother that swam the English Bay last year? I was wondering if he was going to do that again this year. Oh… you can kiss that bottle of Highland Park good-bye.

Good morning all. Buddy (the cat) is still looking rather smug.

What on earth is Highland Park?

Who swam the English Channel? Why is everyone confusing us so early in the a.m. ?

B.Stover: Naked hockey! Those Greeks must’ve been really fierce.

OleyHowlers: Last year there was a post in which Spence stated his brother swam the English Bay…not the English Channel. The English Bay is between Vancouver Island and Mainland Canada. Somewhere like that. I believe there is an event every year where this happens. I was wondering if he was going to do it again.
I know there is a city near Chicago called Highland Park. I don’t know what a bottle of Highland Park is (beer or wine?), but Admin bet it against Vancouver and he will lose it.

Highland Park is a northern Chicago suburb, but I don’t think they make a beer. I think it is a beer and not wine. Beer goes better with hockey.

What in the word is a ME cousin? My ____ cousin?

    “maaaaa”. Very cute.

No more plants have disappeared since all the plastic went up.

I know Rio does not like any of the CSIs or Bones, but we really like Bones. Did anyone catch the season finale with the bowling alley scenes? Ending was a shocker!

    Good morning everyone.
We are checking in for a quick morning. Mama has another show tomorrow – right in the center of Boston. Its gonna be a tough show to set up – they have to unload the car, then one person stays and guards the stuff while the other has to drive the car MILES away to the parking garage and then take the subway back to the show. At the end of the day, one has to pack everything up while the other goes to get the car, cuz they only have 5 minutes to load, and get out of the loading zone once the car gets there. Sheesh – hope it’s a good show, for all the hassle.
Speaking of hockey – Mama says the Greek Naked Hockey is the only way SHE would ever sit thru a game. Dad didn’t seem to see the fascination with that…
Can’t wait for Melanie to come back with explanation for ME cousin – we know who came to work on the pool, and he isn’t from Maine, and he is a nephew. hmmm.
    It is a puzzlement.
(and a shout out to Buddy-Boy – looks like a Great Pyrenees, like our best friend Callie)

I don’t know anything about hockey, but how difficult can it be to figure out. With the hockey stick they hit the hockey puck into the goal, and they hit each other. I would like the low temperature they have to keep the ice hockey arena.
    I’m still cheering for Canada.

Best of luck this weekend, T&G’s mom. That is going to be a lot of work, but I know you will do well at the art show.

So many of us have been reporting on strange weather events. Our atmosphere is much improved this morning. There is only a smokey haze between here and the mountains. They are now telling us that the smoke on the ground and in our houses last night was from a forest fire in eastern Arizona. The paper said that 911 recived a lot of call last night and the fire department was driven crazy driving around looking for fires. Once mom figured out what it was, she put a blanket over her head and went to sleep. I would not let her put a blanket over my head.

Oh, probably too late to say good luck with the show.

Also, the story line on Bones has something to do with Emily Danchenels’s real life situation, if you get my drift. Don’t have a clue what they are going to do with the story line, but you are right, it will have to change.

Hi All! Wish I could have a donut! B.Stover is right! ME is the mechanical engineer. He received his diploma after he got a job. Pretty cool. He’s also way into bikes, kayaking, running and designing things for his Grandmother’s Pool!

Yes, Emily D. is pregnant and that last episode was a teaser. They couldn’t decide if they were going to continue the program next year because of her pregnancy, so I guess the decision has been made.

I would not pay that much for whiskey. Especially since I can’t drink it.

Wondering here too what ME means. Guess we’ll all have to wait until Melanie and Zoe return from their errands.
That east coast weather is extreme! Crazy heat, then chilly. Finally some sunny warm days here – too bad it’s a week late though – Memorial Day was dreary.
Barb&Maggie: Happy to hear Sandy is a good mom. After what you said about that other mom rejecting her baby (Stormy’s mom?) we were concerned.
T&G’s Mum: We know your show will be fabulous, but what a lot of work!

Bear, Actually, Stormy is Sandy’s mother. When she had Sandy and her twin 2 years ago, she accepted the first born and flat out refused Sandy, who was tiny. She would have nothing to do with her. Kim tried to put her to nurse and Stormy turned around and flung her across the pasture, so she ended up bottle feeding her. This time she has been great with both of her babies. This was Sandy’s first experience, and she is extremely good with them, thank Dog.

  44. OleyHowlers
    2:41 pm on June 3rd, 2011

B&M: Its amazing that Sandy is such a good mom, when she did not learn that from experience. Our mare’s mom was also rejected by her mother, and had to be bottle-fed and raised by humans. Her constant companion was a pygmy goat who lived in her stall with her. But when she had Annie, she was a good mom to her. Altho not at all protective, as she was so used to human contact herself. So Annie (our mare) got used to humans and didn’t follow her mom around like most foals do.

Barb&Maggie: Thanks, now I remember you saying that Stormy had rejected Sandy as a kid, but now is friends with her. You must be very relieved the waiting is over. Great job assisting her in the birth.

Mom started it last Sunday and read, read, read!!! This week has been work, work, work for her. Long hours going full tilt all day long. That’s why she hasn’t check the blog for a couple of days.

A Doctorate student sounds like it could be your answer. One would think serious, more mature than an under classman, finances in order. Also, sounds like just a single person, no destructive kiddies. Could work. And one year might improve the housing market.
