High School, Bernie, Bark To The Future

I wasn’t going to do this yet – although Bark To The Future, the next Chet and Bernie book is available for pre-order we don’t have the cover art yet – but here’s a very brief snippet that perhaps hints at how the reader-suggested title fits (in that off-center way I often find appealing):

Bernie opened the envelope, took out some papers, leafed through.

“What’s that?” Weatherly said.

“Evidence.”

“Of what?”

Bernie looked up. “Of me going through high school in a state of oblivion.”

Wose! Thank you for posting Rio’s friend’s crocheted dogs. They really are cute.

Mliauppa! (I swear I spell your name differently everytime). I went to my husband’s 10 year reunion. He was 1 year ahead of me in school. I had such a horrible time, I never went to any of mine. My 50th was last year and I thought about it but didn’t because of Covid. Haven’t missed them at all.

BooBear’s Mom: I forgot to tell you…Grizz looked at Big Tiny’s picture on the calendar, and we both agreed that Big Tiny looks like a cat not to be messed with! :^)

Rio — tell your friend how terrific her crocheted dogs look — they are really adorable. She really is very skillful in her artistry.

Mliauppa –Interestingly, I went to my tenth, twentieth and fiftieth high school reunions (and accompanied my wife to her tenth), but have missed most of my college reunions (which generally happen every five years). While I have a small cadre of college friends that I have remained very close to and see regularly, seeing college classmates is generally less attractive than for high school. While the “dynamics” at earlier unions can be a bit more dicey, by the time you have reached your fiftieth, you are who you are and the same is true for everyone else — no pretense, just reality. I actually found that quite refreshing and would urge you to overcome your hesitancy and go. I don’t think you will have any regrets. The fact that I live 2000 miles aways from where I went to high school may be a contributing factor to the attraction, but I still think you should consider it.

My college didn’t have any reunions I know of. We just weren’t that close. It was part of a very large university and many of us were on different tracts and schedules and there just wasn’t the closeness.

I did two musicals and was in some of the choral groups so I got to know those people. Several have shown up every year so we catch up and they pass on what they know of others they keep in touch with. I imagine we will all be retired at this one so no work to talk about. I suppose anticipating a new Covid variant may have been the reason for the outdoor patio/bar thing but I am still not pleased. I have not sent in my money, just rsvp’d. So I still have time to decide.

Maury!…My friend took the little teal colored dawg out to Colorado to give to her brother when she last saw him…sniffle!…When she first gave it to him he just looked surprised that she would give him a stuffed animal…snort!…Then she told him she had made it and it took on a whole other quality to him…snorkel!

We wonder if bible study has reunions.
