MP/LLMom, We are here, just finished reading the article. Interesting but not surprising. Chet always evaluates people quickly and observes their facial expressions. It was surprising that they decided a person was unreliable as quickly as they did in the test.

Good Morning! It never ceases to amaze me what some silly human will pay another silly human for some mindless study, when hopefully, all dogs’ human companions already know the results. Of course we know if a human is untrustworthy, and it does not take us the time spent in that so-called study. We can tell as soon as we get a whiff, and we immediately move to get between the baddie and our mom. Every single time. And she never, ever doubts our judgement.

Heh! That article didn’t say anything we already know. The Beach Boys song “Good Vibrations” was written because Brian Wilson’s mom told him that dogs could sense good vibes in people.

Bluecat, that is such a lovely picture of you!

RIO! I will still read that KJF book eventually. The reason for all those lightning bolts, summer camp, and sleep away camp was to try and get me and my dark thoughts out of the cave I reside in.

    Good day to all!

We have decided to find some patently obvious observation and write a big article about how it is a new idea. We will get rich! Rich enough to invest in tin futures.

BlueKat – Basil and Sage are swooning over your lovely photo. You are their new pin- up Kitty

Meashka – when your Kat came to visit here, she spent quite a bit of time leaning on my knees. Of course that might have been due to the ear rubs she was getting. But do you think she found us trustworthy?

We here have started the tax stuff too.

Question for Staff or Mr Staff. Barb does taxes for daughter, Shannon. They are simple and easy to do. However, this year she had a distribution from her HSA and got a 1099SA. The distribution was for medical bills. Does she just include the 1099SA with her 1040, or does she fill out a form 8889 as well?

In midst of what may be the worst snow of the year in the DC area, and one that was really not forecasted at all. It was supposed to start much more moderately at noon, which meant that most people would try to get things done (or go for puppy hikes) before then. Instead it started about 9:30 and fairly intense fairly quick, which means gazillions of folks on the road not expecting to be bad and no pre-treatment whatsoever. We have two happy puppies in the car right but three less than totally happy adults. Roads are horrible. What a mess. But at least Prince Teddy and Princess Zeta had a great romp in the snow. Some photos and videos to follow later today.

Tupper’s Maw: Kat came home from the mountains of western Massachusetts with pawsitively glowing comments about the inhabitanta, both 2-legged and 4-legged. She even liked the big black bears who she met there.

We are now getting that snow too, W&T’s Paw. We had a ton of chores to do first: plowing our long lane and our long walkway open after all of yesterday’s drifting, unloading 20 bags of pellets, throwing hay bales down and stacking them in the feed room, cleaning stalls and coops that were badly neglected in the frigid temps, refilling chicken feeder, and water, and refilling all bird feeders. Pop got up nice and early so he could plow. As he wasdreasing, his pager went off, and he has been working on his stupid day job ever since. Somehow, the pellets got unloaded, hay got thrown down and stacked, stalls and coops were cleaned, and all birds fed and watered. Now Pop is plowing. Taking care of this here farm in this weather requires retiring from day jobs. HRMPH

I think the wolves will test differently than dogs. Dogs live with us and benefit from being able to understand us. Wolves don’t need to be in tune with us…just with each other.
I have always trusted the judgment of all my dogs when it comes to a another person’s character.

Bluecat, That is a good way to appreciate the snow.

Dawson, I love to paint trim. Are you doing it in a white semigloss? This house has oak trim, and I like it but I don’t love it. At lease it is Colonial trim. If it were ranch moldings, I would have had to rip it out and replace it. My last homes have been old and have had the wide fancy woodwork.

Barb, Maggie & Lucy: The trim is being painted baby-poop brown. Heh! I am happy to say that is has been so long since I’ve actually seen baby-poop that I’m not sure what color it is. Anyways, all the paint for the walls was purchased as mis-tints at the local hardware store for bargain prices. The walls are cigarette smoke beige. I don’t have any decorating ability like you do and am quite likely color blind.

Bee – we loved Pie in the Sky. And there were actually recipes that we wish we could have gotten from some episodes. Hope you enjoy the series.

HOH – worrit about you in Tennessee. The news reports make it sound like the storms have knocked you all off back into the Stone Age…or should we say the Ice Age?

Speaking of Stone Age, we were watching a documentary today about a tribe of African people who were purported to be totally away from so-called civilization. They lived a nomadic life in the bush, hunting with handmade bows/arrows and gathering native berries and plants for all their food. The narrator called them the closest thing to Stone Age living today. They reside in an area that is “a 3 day walk from the nearest paved roads”. And yet when the film crew arrived, they were greeted with standard handshakes, and most of the children were wearing t-shirts. hmmmmm.

T&G, worry not. We dodged the weather bullet. Yep. the Chattanooga split worked again. We got about an inch of snow on Friday and that brings things here to a halt. The driveway here is very steep but faces south so if there is sun, it de-ices quickly. No sun today so we had to wait for the rain to melt the ice. Central and western TN got really pounded.

You don’t have to send the form 1099SA with the return. You do have to include Form 8889. Part I to document you were eligible to have a HSA and not too much was contributed. If it’s funded by the employer usually line 13 will be zero because line 2 is zero.
Part II to document that the distribution was for medical expenses. Make sure lines 14a and 15 are completed. Usually the same number -the amount from form 1099SA.
