Heart of Barkness Tour: The Granite State!

Tonight at 6PM we’re at https://www.gibsonsbookstore.com in Concord NH. A dog friendly event where the relationship between Heart of Barkness (the new Chet and Bernie) and Russian formalism will be on the agenda! Doesn’t get any more exciting than that!

And here’s the king of Russian formalism, Viktor Shklovsky!

Here is a quotation from Shklovsky: “Art is the sum of literary and artistic devices that the artist manipulates to craft his work.” Literature, in other words, is not based on culture, society or history; rather, “poetic language” is autonomous.

    Good morning all.

By the way, I don’t agree with Russian Formalism. It seems to me only logical that literature is based on all of those things: culture, society, history. However, the final literary product is controlled by the author.
