BLACKOUT! On the 42nd anniversary of the blackout in NYC, the west side of midtown Manhattan is in the dark due to a transformer fire.

RIO! Yes, we here are okay. The area affected is in midtown Manhattan, on the West Side, from the 40s to the 60s, between 5th Avenue and the Hudson River. There are a few subway lines that are not running. There are some people stuck in elevators in buildings. Times Square is mostly dark. On a positive note, at least this did not happen during a work week day.

Masquers: Yes, very interesting indeed. I remember it quite well. It was extremely hot then too. There was quite a bit of looting, fires, and property damage throughout the five boroughs during the ’77 blackout.

And nine months after the blackout for some reason the birth rate spiked.

W’s & T’s Paw: Heh. Heh. As the blackout of 1965. Grizz’s brother is a ’65 blackout baby.

W&Ts Paw: Do you think we need an alibi for the blackout in question?

If anyone asks, we were quietly looking at photos with Friend from our trip to Chicago last year. She can vouch for our whereabouts.
