10:43 am on November 28th, 2013
On this, my First Thanksgiving, I am very glad I am a member of a family who chose to let me live in the house when I became unable to walk. I could have been meat!
10:47 am on November 28th, 2013
Happy Thanksgivukkah! Thanks Giving and Hanukkah are both about spending time with family and friends, so how can you go wrong? According to what we read the two celebrations will not converge again for 79,043 years, so this is special.
Knowing what a gourmet cook Debbie LM is, she will probably be making pumpkin laktes with spiced cranberry sour cream.
We hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with lots of laughter and good food.
10:50 am on November 28th, 2013
Rose: Hope I won’t be too heavy after Thanksgiving din-din to blurr. Belle Starr would you care to join me? I know you have a standing invitation and your own key.
A turkey has been brining overnight, not for today, but later.
Good Turkey Day everyone!

“In the country of her grandmothers, before the whites came, the cycle of each year was the same. It turned with the seasons, with the fish-runs and the mating of the deer, with the seeding and harvesting of corn, with the rituals of thanksgiving. What was expected of a person was known to all: to honor the ancestors, to bring new life into the world, to share the gifts of the Mother, to walk in balance between earth and sky.
We have much to be Thankful for this year.

Have a wonderful day of family, friends, food and thanks for all the glorious blessings each one of us has in our life, each and every day.
We are thankful for all the fun and comfort and love we receive from everyone of our Plundering friends (and bashful Lurkers).
We are thankful for Corgis and Wrotten Kats and Gramp and Callie. We are thankful for the safe travels of our extended family.
And we are thankful for hot and sour soup, and Chinese restaurants that deliver.
Have a great day, everyone!

Macy, Thanks for the cute card.

We here are thankful for each of you and for the man and his talent that brought us together. Words fail us to express our gratitude for your support and friendship. We are blessed to have you in our lives.
Nana: We are thankful you are with us. When you placed a foot across the Bridge, BSD and many others pushed from their end while we pulled you by the scruff back to us.
11:54 am on November 28th, 2013
Fern, How are you doing this morning?
gah I can’t believe I’m talking to a chicken.
Wose, Did you get SNOW?

12:30 pm on November 28th, 2013
I am thankful for everything and everyone.
So…does Bernie cook much or at least enough to be considered a cook? He and Chet seem to eat out a lot. What do you think would they be doing for Thanksgiving?
12:41 pm on November 28th, 2013
Okay, the words and pictures are great.
But, let us get serious. This day is about FOOD.
For brunch this group had crepes and caviar. Did we get any? NO.
I mean look below. Is that not excellent begging technique?
I’ve got a plan. They were saying that caviar was fish eggs. So next spring, the Pack and I are going to catch fish and squeeze em. That should work!

12:43 pm on November 28th, 2013
Yeah Frank, that should work.
12:43 pm on November 28th, 2013
Eating out.
12:51 pm on November 28th, 2013
AWWWWW, Franlklin!
Siber-H, Alas, we did not get any snow. Geographically, we are in an area that is in between rain and snow lines. Not that high to the north or west.
Sigh. I think snow will be a long wait.
12:58 pm on November 28th, 2013
Macy – it’s about dam time!
Heh heh heh!
12:58 pm on November 28th, 2013
Shhh (whispering) Darah here. Love the foto of Frank, he is so talented and handsome. I tried that technique the other day and all mom said was, “No nose, Nanette!” Guess she didn’t like it.
1:01 pm on November 28th, 2013
I am thankful for, Grizz who has loved and cared for me even through the tough times, when another may of run away.
I am very thankful that Nana is back with us. It just wasn’t her time.
I am also very thankful to all of youse on this blog, even those who choose to lurk. Youse all have a special place in my heart.
I am grateful to my mama Luna, who took me in as one of her own, and to my VBFF this sparkly Belle Starr.
I am thankful that I was able to take part in the Iditarod 2013. Grizz and I will never, ever forget that experience.
I am thankful for Chet and Bernie.
I am thankful for Spence, who gives us a great new Chet and Bernie book every year.
I am thankful to be here.
1:11 pm on November 28th, 2013
Oley’s that video was amazing. The way that man had total control over his pack, even moving them to one side of the trail with just a point of his stick. What lucky dogs? What country were they from?
We like to think the Chet and Bernie are spending the day with Suzie in D.C. and she and Bernie are preparing a turkey. Chet is supervising. We know Bee disagrees, but we love Suzie.
There is a new breed in the dog show today. He is in the hound class and from Portugal. A rabbit and rat dog that looks like a scruffy little terrier mix.
1:23 pm on November 28th, 2013
The Working Group is up right now – 29 breeds, one of which is the Newfie. The Sibe just came in 3rd. Standard Schnauzer was first.
Barb is thankful so many things. Her health, our new home closer to family, our wonderful friends here on the blog, Spence and Admin for providing this wonderful forum for us, living in this wonderful country of ours, our military men and women who help keep us safe. And last, but certainly not least, her wonderful devoted companion, me, me, me.

Dammit – where is that packing tape?
1:36 pm on November 28th, 2013
Franklin: Yes, Pal, you’ve got it right…it’s Food Day…nice Technique by the way. Hang in there. Those at the table will give in soon enough and you’ll get Your Share.
O’Howlers: Went to play the video and the neighbor dawgs went bonkers. Later.
1:38 pm on November 28th, 2013
I think I need a new bed. If you agree, let my stingy mom know!

1:44 pm on November 28th, 2013
The Peke just won best in Toy class, the Affenpincher 2nd and the Yorkie 3rd.
The Affenpincher, Ben, is the son of Banana Joe who won best in class or best in show last year. Interesting – they just said that in China anyone who tried to smuggle a Peke out of the country was put to death! At least until Queen Victoria had one given to her. Also the Yorkie was taken into the mines with the Yorkshire miners to protect their lunch pails from vermin.
And now Barb is off for the afternoon. Happy Thanks Giving everyone!
1:53 pm on November 28th, 2013
I saw Loulou watching the Maltese do the blurry-legged running in the dog show ring. She’d better not gave any plans.

Why have I never thought of this before. There has always been a battle for oven space. Made the dressing early this a.m. and it has been in the slow cooker ever since. Worst case, I can throw the crock in the oven before we eat. I happen to know that it already tastes pretty good, and since there is no egg in it we can eat whatever comes out of the crock. Toss on some turkey, gravy, it all just gets to be a big pile.
2:16 pm on November 28th, 2013
Oh, my holy dog. Rick just asked if I planned to plug the crock pot in. *smashing head into door*.
2:19 pm on November 28th, 2013
Darah, be patient little pup, Santa Paws is coming.
I take back everything I said about the dressing. It will never get warm, it will just be a pile of cornbread, bread and veggies, gah.
2:20 pm on November 28th, 2013
Who let the sheep in?
2:29 pm on November 28th, 2013
There has to be a way to save the dressing.
Where are our cooks when we need them?
2:34 pm on November 28th, 2013
We think Chet and Bernie celebrate Thanksgiving similar to the Giant and our Lady a few years ago. Each Thanksgiving it was just the two of them and they didn’t have an oven so dinner consisted of Hungry Man Turkey TV dinners. Since meeting Mick and Jodi, the people not the pups, they’ve eaten Thanksgiving dinner at their house. Delish!
2:43 pm on November 28th, 2013
Macy – put the stuffing in a big pan on top of the stove and start warming it up, stirring often. MEanwhile have the crockpot turned on to High, and covered so it is warming up. When the dressing is pretty warm, put it in the crockl, cover and let it go for an hour or two. Should be ok.
2:59 pm on November 28th, 2013
Macy: What I’d do with the dressing is wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the oven. Periodically spoon a bit of juice from the turkey pan onto the dressing. (I’ve done this with extra dressing in the past because it’s what my mother did.)
3:06 pm on November 28th, 2013
We had been barking for awhile! Zoë finally got that the turkey in the oven. Just a tad late. Like over an hour.
Luckily there are snacks. Lots of snacks.
Mattie almost made it into the West Wing to grab a bag of chips. These two legged visitors are faster than our two leggeds.
Hmmm. Mac? Go sit in front of the gate and roll over when one of them come thru the gate. Mattie? Dash in and grab what you can. Look innocent.
3:08 pm on November 28th, 2013
How come Macy gets to eat a croc? I want to eat a croc.
3:12 pm on November 28th, 2013
Maggie, We think those dogs were in Norway or one of those other Scandana isn coutries. Mom wants to se d us there.

HOH: when will the Newfie pup stop growing? How many bed will it take?
Waiting for link to auction when it starts…
Doing furniture moving and working up an appetite for later today
3:23 pm on November 28th, 2013
Darah, you need a big bed like ours.
Those dogs that look like lambs? People in Asia were getting sold lambs and were told they were dogs. Sometimes two leggeds are so confused. Could those things bark? Did they drool? Didn’t they notice IT WAS EATING GRASS?
3:24 pm on November 28th, 2013

The 2013 Turkey Trot was a big success. Lots of neighbors and friends turning out for this fun annual event. Nana walked a block just so she could say she did. All funds go to the Ballard Food Bank.

O’Howlers: Come on over!

4:20 pm on November 28th, 2013
Ok – hopefully Rio will either have a mouth full of turkey so he can’t yell at us. Or maybe he has a belly full of turkey so that he will be feeling benevolent. At any rate, we admit that the last week has been just a tad insane for us, and if we read about when the auction starts, we have completely lost track of the information. Could someone remind us please?
4:24 pm on November 28th, 2013

Anyhow, they have two cranberry relishes. One from a can they just plopped down. And one homemade one the Alpha made.

Bigs hugs to you!
6:05 pm on November 28th, 2013
RIO! How was your turkey?
6:12 pm on November 28th, 2013
Rio: Auction Central is ready to go. Just don’t lean against the walls of the lean-to. The Thieves were able to procure another vat for your beer drinking and beer diving needs. The other container did not survive the explosion of the Bid-O-Matic 3000. The new machine, which the Thieves have dubbed Ralph should be good to go, just ignore the rust. It adds character. The hot wings should be delivered soon. Snort!
Oh, before I forget, the gavel didn’t survive the explosion either so I snagged AJ’s trail ax for short-term use.
6:20 pm on November 28th, 2013
Yeeep!…I’m all set to go, I think…sniff!…Until the first piece of machinery falls off, then what?…gasp!…I hope lil’ Teddy Ruff Rider is learning how to be Mechanically inclined…heh!heh!

Mom and Pop are home!!!! And they did not even bring leftovers. BSD, we are taking you up on your offer. We will be there just as soon as we are allowed out of the doghouse we got ourselves into shortly after they got home. Well of course, Dima was not in the doghouse, perfect as he is. Only The Reds were in trouble.
Franklin, Everybody here prefers the cranberries fresh out of the can. Go figure. Your table looks great.
We were having trouble finding something to be grateful for, after all of our troubles this year. But then we remembered that we very nearly did not have our Dima. And we do. That there is ENOUGH.
6:31 pm on November 28th, 2013
Pancho & Lefty: We trust you have your Time Coordinations correct!
6:33 pm on November 28th, 2013

Thieves!….So where’s my beer and hot-wings?…sniff!sniff!…Actually, burp! if you deliver them tomorrow I will be ready for them. Tonight I am full!full!full!…wheeze!…The turkey was Delish! Someone here says she is always going to brine her turkeys from now on….Wooooo!….Her and her mother followed Alton Browns instructions and put the turkey in with no liquid in the pan and the oven set to 500 degreez…wheeze!…They left him in that hot heat for 30 minutes and then turned it down and covered the turkey with tinfoil and let it cook without any basting or oven opening the whole morning – this part just about killed her mother as she is a notorious oven opener, baster….chorkle!…That bird came out perfectly browned all around. It was beautiful! And it tasted WONDERFUL!…wooooo!…Kamera could not be found or I would post a photo of it right now…heh!
6:41 pm on November 28th, 2013

And I bet I know who has already placed a bid.

Strange Turkey Day but pleasant. Mom and the Daddy Dawg went with his friends to a buffet restaurant. Traditional Fare but also ham, roast beef, mac ‘n cheese, salads, pumpkin cake with cream cheese sauce, lemon meringue pie. The didn’t have plates, it looked more like little platters. They wouldn’t want to do it again, but it was pleasant. Since the peeps are away, we didn’t get turkey but the grilled burgers were delish!
9:36 pm on November 28th, 2013
Buffet!….Beau and I were at a buffet today too…snort!…We were patrolling the floor under the table and in the kitchen vacuuming up any little scrap we could find…heh!burp!
9:51 pm on November 28th, 2013
Charlie!…We are watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving show…heh!heh!….We love this show…wheeze!…Everyone is extremely tired tonight. My friend was up very early and on her feet all day long. The guests came early and threw-off the whole schedule …grump!….It all turned out okay, but who shows up at 10:20am for a meal that is set for Noon?…wheeze!…And who plops themselves in the dining room and does not budge the whole ding-dong day? Their oldest guest, that’s who…grump!…So everyone else had to sit in the dining room to talk to the old bird who was enjoying all the chaos she was causing…grumble!….I over-heard my friend say, “Never Again…never ever again.”…grunt!

I can not believe I am still awake. I must be a grown up.
The dishwasher has gone three times. The hand washing is done. E earthing was delicious.
The Pack is getting treats for breakfast.
I am exhausted. The younger crowd? Watching a movie.
I knew that the item I really wanted would go out of my range, but I didn’t think it would be this fast.
Bid! Bid! Bid!

Auction!…Central will resume updating any bids received now and throughout the night and even the early East-Coast morning bids right after I go to my warm soft bed, sleep all night and then get up at some point, have my cawfee and get into the Auction Central office – at some point…grunt!

I finally got to the auction at 10:30. It looks like a slow start or else everyone else is still eating Turkey somewhere away from home. I put in bids on two items. We shall see how high they go.
Now for bed. It was a long satisfying day although I was soundly beaten at cards TWICE! sniff

My Two-leggeds just returned home from Mick and Jodi’s house and they even brought leftovers. Yum!
I would like to bid on things in the auction, but my Two-legged says no. Grump!
CHH: My Lady said today she is grateful that a certain Hobbit knows how to Plunder on even without ID and a cell phone.
Yawn…we are going to bed with full bellies tonight.
