Good morning all, and Happy Thanks Giving Day!

Melanie, Hope Dan has a good day. Crabcakes are one of our favorite foods in the whole world. Enjoy!

Oley, thanks for the Facebookie thing about Chicago. Barb got a chuckle out of that!

Barb is heading out in a little bit. Will be back on the blog tomorrow. I will be home, dreaming of turkey leftovers.

Siber, Thanks for the review on 11-22-63. Barb usually doesn’t read King, but this one looks very appealing. As far as his research, we read that it was done extremely well. He had a researcher that traveled with him to Dallas, and he is the one that collected much of the background data, such as what things cost at that time, etc.

One more bit of Jackie trivia this morning – She thought she was considered a liability to the POTUS. This was due to the fact that she was highbrow, spoke French, and was not overly interested in politics. She was very pleased that he was proud of her efforts for redoing the White House.

Happy Thanksgiving, Chet and all the Plunderers!

The husky video from last night was great. He was saying “will somebody please shut this kid up” !

Tyb, we will definitely be trying a turkey breast in a crock pot one of these days. Thanks for that tip.

B&M, loving all of the Jackie stories. Nowadays she would definitely be considered a liability since the TBers have made education and intelligence synonymous with elitism.

Siber, we defintely plan to read 11-22-63 … that sounds like a fantastic book. Thanks for letting us know.

Riö: You looked very smart with your Gram.

Zoe is 80% done with 11-22-63 and is enjoying in immensely.

I have thought long and hard about what I’m thankful for on this day.

I am thankful for my past.
My memories of all my family, near and far and those of blood and not are a part of what makes me, me. My past, both the good and the bad, have made me what I am today and even if I say so myself, I am is a pretty cool person.

I am thankful for my future.
I have always enjoyed “The Possibility”. (I love hardware stores because of all the things that I could play with and make into things.) I know the future will bring some heartache and tears, but it will also bring joy and tears. I am excited by what I might or YSAS or OTAS and F might and will achieve.

I am thankful for my now. This is the hardest one for me. To live somewhat like our Nation Within Companions. The Now is what there actually is. (Masquers should enjoy the zen of that) I am thankful that Dan, Zoe and Patsy are with me. I am thankful for my guys coming to see us. I am thankful for the quilt of our friendship.

    So . . . That’s what I’m thankful for guys!

Happy Thanksgiving Plunderers and Chet. Mom put the bird in the oven, she’s doing a bit of cleaning and waiting for her mom and dad, her son and fiance and her sister to arrive. She’s trying a new recipe of mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar and pecans. I hope she breaks her stupid rule of “no people food” and let me at least have one lick. Other than my kibble and bones, I only get to sample the crumbs she drops when she cooks. Snif, snif. Oh yeah, and I’m thankful that mom found me in that shelter place and took me to my forever home. Mom says don’t forget for me to tell you that she is so thankful for the friends she has made here on Chet the Dog and she will never forget your encouragement and support and help to get her a job. Thanks youse guise.

Happy Thanskgiving to Chet, and all the Plunderers!

I am thankful for my wonderful husband, the Prof.
I am thankful for my new job.
I am very thankful for my recovery.

I am thankful for all the Plunderers and their friendship!

Rio: I liked the picture of you and your grandma from last night’s blog. BTW: I received the gift cards, and they are gorgeous. Too gorgeous to give away. Every year the Prof and I buy a new ornament for our tree. This year, the new ornament(s)
    will be your friend’s cards.

May everyone enjoy a safe, fun, and yummy Thanksgiving!

Oley: Thanks for the reminder to vote!
B.Stover: They are yummy. With gingersnap dough you can’t go wrong. I could use the pieces in a parfait too and on the internet I saw a recipe for gingersnap gravy! A recipe for another day, perhaps. We may also make ice cream sandwiches or some kind of bar with the dough as a base and a ginger buttercream or some as yet unknown topper. Possibilities…
I have to check out last night’s posts…

Hmmm. I didn’t hit submit because I was spell checking (OleyHowlers, it thinks your name is wrong, even after I say it’s correct) when the page refreshed by itself. Let me try again.

Dawson, your mistakes sound better than most people’s recipes.

OleyHowlers, Love that you are Thankful for things that are not getting blamed for (snicker).

TYB: Your Remoulade Sauce was pronounced excellent by the tasters! Thanks!

Ditto to all the lovely sentiments above.

I am thankful that mom! (I know, I didn’t believe it either) was cooking this morning. She is pretty messy, but more pieces of some green stringy thing landed on the floor than turkey, but there has been cornbread, bacon, and tiny, unreasonably tiny, pieces of turkey.

Mom and dad are thankful that they paid the house off THE DAY BEFORE the big goodbye. So long as they can scrape together taxes and insurance we will not be living in a refrigerator box. (I have done it before, and trust me, this place is much better)

They are thankful that the huge gathering was last year and this year will be much more mellow. Mom is absolutely NOt going to let anyone get on her very last nerve today, although if she hears one more BLACK FRIDAY commercial she may toss the TV.

She will be very thankful if she remembers where she put the tablecloth before lunch time. (I know, but she is not paying attention to me)

She is very thankful that she has come to a place where she is OK with everything not being scrubed to death. If the place is not to someone’s liking, they can grab a rag. (no one really cares but mom)

And, last for now she is thankful that dad is mopping the kitchen while mom hangs out on the interwebs.

Love to all, no matter how many legs.

We are watching the National Dog Show, but Mom & Pop will be leaving for Thanksgiving dinner soon and will probably turn it off before they go.

About those gift cards: Mom was hoping to use them on gifts for all her SILs, because they will love them. But now that she sees how beautiful they look, she is afraid that she will lack the willpower to part with them. Rio, tell your friend that she really is an artist.

She never really looked at the Newf. Grumbling . . .
The Bernese was beautiful. I also really liked the Leomister. Or how ever you spell that dog.

Macy: Congrats on the house and not living in a refrigerator box. My guys loved boxes for forts. On the other paw, they were 7 and 2 at the time.

Zoë said I couldn’t bring home anymore dogs. I told her that was okay I was going to start breeding Kats. Luckily, I ducked in time.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Plunderers!

Melanie: Thank you for sharing your gratitude.

I am thankful for my husband, his strength, and his character.
I am thankful for the day the Howard found me and that he is now at peace.
I am thankful for all the four-leggeds in our family.
I am thankful I was able to travel south this summer and spend time with my parents and my brother.
I am thankful I was able to see the team cross under the burled arch.
I am thankful for a job that in addition to being a great gig with great people, allows me to buy dog food.
I am thankful for the support given to the Kennel.
I am thankful for the first email I received from an Evil Pug that encouraged me to visit the Plunderers.
I am thankful that when I arrived, the quilt was wrapped around my shoulders and I was welcomed as a Plunderer.

Everyone has said it so nicely already, so it’s hard to know what to say. I am most thankful that I found my forever home 9 and 1/2 years ago and that I have a two-legged family that loves me and takes such good care of me, in sickness and in health. I am also thankful for the best extended family that any four-legged could ever have with the Plunderers here at Chet’s blog, who make me laugh and smile every single day, and have instilled a spirit of caring and joy, even in difficult times. Lastly, I am ver thankful for the yummy Thanksgiving dinner we will later today, as mom has outdone herself again:
    Turkey, stuffing and gravy
    Savory bread pudding with mushrooms
    Twice based potatoes
    Home made coleslaw
    Maple glazed carrots and turnips
Southern spinach (with Vermont cheddar and chili flakes)
    Homemade cranberry raspberry jelly
And, for dessert, pecan pile anf pumpkin flan
Your pal Wookie (and a Happy Thanksgiving to one and all)

We are thankful for the gifts of modern times that give us cures for diseases that used to kill, ways to communicate with friends from all over the world and microchips that help keep 4 leggeds safe if they wander from home
We are thankful for the enormous wealth that we have in this country- the wealth of home, heat, food and way more toys than we would ever need
Most of all, we are thankful for the gift of hope
We hope there will be an end to all wars forever and ever
We hope the Earth will forgive our sins and will respond to the care we now are starting to give
We hope medical breakthroughs will soon cure cancer, AIDS, ALS,Parkinsons and all other devastating diseases

Oh Wolfie. What a bad day for Thanksgiving. Both Mom and Dawson were sick last week but they got better just in time. (I am thankful for that). I am Thankful for the family and the nice day and the wonderful food and that nothing burned and my computer is working fine.

I am thankful that Dawson made some toffee with white chocolate instead of chocolate chocolate and it is very nice. I am thankful she made it and I am also thankful that I didn’t eat it all at once and there is lots left for me to scarf up later.

I am thankful that my brother, the Turtleman, brought a funny little toy cockroach and let it go in the kitchen and it went under the stove and no one saw it at all and he had to scramble around on the floor with a flashlight to find it. And then I am thankful that he showed it to Mom and dropped it in her hand and it wiggled around and she threw it in the trash and it was SOOOOO funny.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! It’s been a very full day. Our huge meal was early today so the guys could watch football and drink beer all day! It was very good, but Mom still sets the table in the traditional sense (in memory of her Mom who was always very proper) and that means lots and lots of dishes to wash. Family is here and staying until Sunday morning so it will be a very full few days. We’re very thankful for the large loving family of nieces and nephews who make our holidays alot of fun.

Barb and Maggie, you mentioned the other day how we felt about the finals of DWTS. We were pleased with the results, but felt that any one of the 3 that made the finals would have been a fitting winner. This was the 1st season (we watch it faithfully) that Mom didn’t have a favorite at the beginning of the season. And the 3 that made it to the finals deserved it. JR was great, and Rob showed such improvement. Ricki was good from the beginning but she just kept getting better. Our problem is we like Derek so well as a dancer and choreagrapher, that we always want his partner to win.

Anyway, thank all of you for sharing your lives with us through this blog. We love this special family of friends.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you, Chet!!
