Good morning, Wolfie and everyone! Wolfie, hope your early morning was productive. We slept in a bit but have now had our breakfast. Maybe if we act hungry, we’ll get a second one. Good smells in the kitchen today.
Happy turkey. We are thankfuil for our blog family šŸ™‚

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Thank you Spence for keeping the blog going for our Chet and Bernie family.

Have the Brussels sprout dish ready. Doing roasted sprouts with bacon, shallots and garlic. Also taking a salad and a cream cheese appy. That is all I have to do, so getting off pretty easy. Josh and Jess will be picking me up at noon.

Staff, I was impressed with your mom’s spice cabinets. She had some things in there that I have never tried, like arrowroot and something that started with an F and ended with greek. She also had them in alphabetical order, which was a pleasant sight for my Virgo sense of order.

So, who is cooking dinner and who is not?

B&M&L, good morning. Fenugreek. Kind of an anisey/licoricey taste. Mom only knows because a friend once managed a Swiss Colony shop and when spices would go out of date, she’d bring them home and we’d experiment.
We have dinner at the adopted son’s today. They have the turkey and sweet potatoes and everyone has been assigned things. Mom’s stuffung got assembled last night, she’ll put the relish tray later on.

Happy Thanksgiving,Spence, Admin, Chet, and Plunderers. We will be home all alone, while the ‘rents go to a niece’s home. They are only taking a birthday present, and perhaps a bottle of wine. Of course, they are likely going to miss it altogether, because Pop is on call, and working as we type.
We here are thankful for the measly snow that fell yesterday, and we are looking forward to real winter, when we hope to see more. BB, we think your early winter temps are a bit extreme though.

OH: We are having January in November. Cold temps and then blizzard like snow. Many car accidents, some fatalities. More snow tonight. Sigh. Two years ago on Thanksgiving the temperature was 62 degrees! Huh???

We are going to younger son’s home for our turkey and trimmings today. Older son and his family will bring desserts, and we two buddies will bring other side dishes.

For all that is ours, let us give thanks. (My mantra.)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in my blog family. We have some very good friends up from Florida (Carol and Alex) who, in addition to Carol being my mom’s bestest friend, both happen to be terrific tummiers too. Our turkeyfest is still a few hours off (others are arriving at 6:00 pm) and I am guarding the turkey to make sure no marauding goats put in an appearance.

We are also mourning the passing of P.D. James. Her departure will leave a big void in the world of mystery writers. Definitely one of my mom’s and dad’s all time favorites. She is up there with Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers as on of the true royalty of the profession.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of youse!

Anyone else set off the smoke alarm while cooking today? It has been 15 minutes and the doors and windows are open and the fan going. Stove is off. A neighbor even came and checked on me. Carpola. I know I am not that bad of cook. This is why people disable their smoke alarms. Some of the system is wired and some not. Flipping circuit breakers don’t help.

Hobbit! You are an excellent cook. Mom still talks about all of the great meals you made for her and Pop when they were Way Up North. It is thosestupid hard-wired smoke detectors that are the problem.
