Happy Thanksgiving!
Rick Torres crouched under a strip of tape, came toward us, shook hands with Bernie. “Hey, Chet,” he said, and gave me a pat. “Lookin’ good. Is he still growing, Bernie?”
“Hardly seems possible,” Bernie said. “This is my son Charlie. Shake hands with Sergeant Torres, Charlie.”
Rick held out his hand. Charlie gazed down at the ground.
“I won’t bite,” Rick said. Of course he wouldn’t! Hardly any humans did, their little teeth not being much of a weapon. I did remember a perp named Clancy Green chomping on some other perp’s arm, but that was on a Halloween night, the only holiday I don’t like – Halloween brings out the worst in people, Bernie says. Thanksgiving is my favorite, except for that one time with the drumstick incident, maybe a story for another day.

Wow. First again. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving everyone. A relative moved her dinner up to noon so that I could attend before I have to leave to drive to Nashville. So I do get to celebrate with family.
Home at midnight Friday….

Happy Thanksgiving, C Hobbit, Chet, Bernie, Spence, Admin, and all of our Plundering friends! Enjoy the day and eat like there’s no tomorrow!
Hobbit, have a safe journey…that is a long one.
9:22 am on November 22nd, 2012
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Safe travels C Hobbit.
We are thankful for many things today, including all our special friends on Chet’s blog. Thanks Spence for all you do for us.

Wonder if we’ll ever know what happened during the drumstick incident.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
For Dan . .
Thanksgiving 2012
Today
I breathe out
Letting
my body relax
Giving up
my so-called control
of my life
Remembering
my father
He loved Thanksgiving
Last year
he wrote a beautiful
prayer and read it to us
We were all seated at the table
all his children, many grandchildren
We toasted him
Today
I breathe in
Remembrance
Love

Beautiful, Melanie!
9:50 am on November 22nd, 2012
Melanie,
Thank you for the memory of your father. I had a little melt down yesterday while cooking. I suddenly realized that this was Maggie’s last Thanksgiving. Mr. Staff and the Turtleman gave me hugs. It helped. The holidays seem harder than just regular days don’t they?
9:57 am on November 22nd, 2012
Melanie – tears here.
Staff – thinking of you. She already lives in your heart.
XOXOXO to all the Plunderers and PSQA who makes it all possible.
See you tomorrow when the store opens 🙂

Staff!…Yes.
10:20 am on November 22nd, 2012
Amongst all the sad times and hard times there is still much to be thankful for. My life is so much richer knowing all of youse on the blog. And, of course, I am thankful for Chet who started it all; for Rio who made us a community; for Siber-H who introduced the Plunderers to the Iditarod and gave us a cause to support; for Snowhook who has given us a grand adventure and whose kindness & integrity makes us proud to be sponsors.
10:23 am on November 22nd, 2012
I wonder what Chet did to cause a “drumstick incident.”
Good morning all and Happy Thanksgiving.
10:34 am on November 22nd, 2012
Bee, I have a feeling that the “drumstick incident” involved canine teeth, and jumping and maybe a little more. What the heck, Chet deserved a little turkey, didn’t he?
10:44 am on November 22nd, 2012
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
That would be Turkey Day to all us dogs and kats.
Safe travels C.Harris. That is a long journey. I wonder what the weather will be like when you get home.
Melanie, That is a beautiful rememberance of Raven.
10:48 am on November 22nd, 2012
I think Chet tried to gulp a chicken leg and it got caught sideways in his throat.
Oh Dog,
Melanie and Staff opened the floodgates.
Ditto what C.HobbitHarris said.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
10:57 am on November 22nd, 2012
We are grateful for many things. Just now, we are grateful for the beautiful Thanksgiving morning walk we just took. There were cows and pigs and other doggies. Fun.
Mom, who has a better rememory than us, is thankful to all of our friends on this here blog, and in our life here in Berks County. She is also grateful for the opportunity to live on our beautiful farm, at least until the bank comes and takes it all away. 🙂
11:03 am on November 22nd, 2012
Happy Thanksgiving, friends.
Melanie, beautiful poem. On the first Holiday after my mother passed, my sister read aloud to us some of her memoirs that she had written for an adult writing course. It meant alot to all of us, espicially my Dad.
Today I am thankful that God has granted our prayers and given my husband back to me,family and friends. Although the war isn’t over, each battle has been won. With continued prayers and support from all my family and friends, how can we lose?
C.Hobbit, my feelings exactly. 2012 has been a tough year for many of us but we all plunder on.
Thank you, SQ, for this blog. What a circle of friends it has created.

I will be thanking in a little while. Very busy! Silver is out and needs to be washed. The gravy boat had cobwebs on it. snicker
Had to wash the tablecloths. And fix the bird feeder. OTAS got some great shots of the birds.
ALSO GLAD is having a Black Friday (through Sat) sale on black and white commission work. It’s at her Fan page and her regular Facebook page and her blog.
Cool . .
11:12 am on November 22nd, 2012
re: drumstick incident… I think Chet saw the turkey on the kitchen counter awaiting carving. He aimed to just grab the drumstick and go and ended up dragging the whole turkey off the platter. I bet a certain ex-wife was furious.
I am packed and have a whole hour to hang out. Usually I am rushing around like a crazy person and can’t fit even a sheet of paper more in my suitcase. Something feels amiss.
11:19 am on November 22nd, 2012
Happy End of Harvest Day to all of you.
Melanie – sniff….He would be so pleased…
Staff – we know. Hugs
We have left a little gift for all of you at the dishlickers site. We wanted to give you all something that we knew:
a) no one would be allergic to
b) would not bother anyone’s diet
c) is certainly “one size fits all”
d) probably won’t have to be repackaged and regifted
Hope you enjoy it, and the company, and the day.
Blessings to all – Amalia, and the whole gang here

Wookie: your dinner sounds fabulous! Best to you and your family.
12:02 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Happy Thanksgiving to each of you! I have much to be grateful for this year, and at the top of the list are the Plunderers—what a wonderful family.
Melanie: What a wonderful poem. I saw a lone raven in the parking lot yesterday, and without thinking, said, “Hey, Dan.” I wish for calming and comfort for each of the Plunderers in the way he or she needs.
CHH: Safe travels. I hope your eyes are doing better.
12:16 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Wookie!…Your gourmet Turkey Dinner sounds amazing…snort!…My friend pretty much leaves most of the cooking to her mother or else the fighting starts. She decided there will be none of that this year and her mother can control the food…grunt!…This is why she bought all that wine and beer and brandy….heh!heh!…I did see her whip up some cottage and green though.
12:20 pm on November 22nd, 2012
My thoughts to everyone who is missing some one this day.
Bella, the ravens had been around all morning. I’m been saying, “Hi, Dan”.
Rob is making the pumpkin soup. Smells excellent.
Zoe just got back from the walk/run. Dogs are happy. They got to go swimming.
Everyone’s dinner sounds TERRIFIC.
I believe it was BlueKat but might have been a different Kat . . That none of these calories count.
That’s my feeling too. And I’m sticking with that.
T&G, very funny story!
12:21 pm on November 22nd, 2012

Food!…Seems like we have the exact same thing every Thanksgiving – her mother does not like trying new things…sniff!…There is Roast Turkey! Mashed Tators and gravy! Stuffing! Broccoli with excellant cheese sauce(my friend makes this)! Yams – gah!, cottage and green! Hot rolls and a Relish dish…sniff!sniff!…Its beginning to smell alot like Thanksgiving around here…wooooo!…Oh and a chocoloate cream pie for dessert…yeeep!
12:28 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Wookie, That menu is a work of art. Even Martha S. couldn’t do it any better.
12:37 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Love Wookie’s dishes. Is there turkey as well?
Great story, Amalia. Thanks.
Melanie, already commented on FB, but will repeat: Thanks for sharing the wonder of The Raven with us.
12:37 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Rio – sorry about that. There seemed to be a prblem for some. The printed out version of our little gift is now on dishlickers, all written out in full.
Give it a try.

Mom is feeling a little sad, also.
But guess what? My boy Cody is going to be a daddy.
We here have mixed feelings about this. Mostly regarding their finances. Mom does not see how Breena can support a family of three on a part time job, since Cody is currently unemployed.
Something tells us that we may end up with sme new roomies, although dad may put his foot down.
There is something comforting about knowing that life goes on.
1:14 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Amalia: Are you going to a restaurant today? (LOL!)
1:23 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Rio – we have a little leftover ( only partially chewed) mousie that you can nibble on to stave off the hunger pangs.
Bee – snicker.
1:28 pm on November 22nd, 2012
We gotta tell you – every word of Mama’s story is true. Really and truly.
You think we’re kidding? Just ask Bella what our Gramp was doing when she first arrived and Mama had a luncheon planned….
1:39 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Hey Bella – the winning Tibetan Spaniel in the National Dog Show is named Tenzing!
1:40 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Amalia, We went to Dishlickers and could not find your story. Please give us more info. It was not in new emails and we couldn’t find it listed down the left side. sob
May have to catch up later as Barb is leaving shortly.
Is anyone watching the dog show? It is on again tomorrow night.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
1:41 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Tenzing just won the non-sporting group! Woo hoo
1:41 pm on November 22nd, 2012
T&G: Great story! (I was wondering if it was true.)
Bella: What was Gramps doing when you arrived for the luncheon?
1:47 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Barb – we just checked. The email is there in Dishlickers. It is now titled “print out of attachment”. Please let us know if you still can’t find it.
Hmmm
2:08 pm on November 22nd, 2012
T & G, saw “print out” but didn’t realize that it was listed that way. Thanks.
Love the Purina commercials during the dog show. What a great place to work. Although we were wondering if they use dogs to experiment with their food formulas.
Barb is outa here. BBML
2:21 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Barb tried one last time to find it. Still couldn’t. Very frustrating to say the least. Last thing was The Bridge from Sept. Could you give me a step by step and I will look again this evening.

T&G Loved the story!

I am thankful for my sister who is having the family Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday so I can have time with my children today.
I am thankful for the plenty which will grace our table today.
I am thankful for the woman down the road who sold us some beer even though it’s not legal to do so on Thanksgiving so OTAS and GLAD will have beer to watch the Patriots play today.
I am thankful for Spencer Peter Quinn Abrahams for writing every story he has ever written and for the one he is writing today.
I am thankful for the Plunderers who give me support, love and grumpiness every single day.

Time to relax and watch some T.V. Pop has to get up super early tomorrow again, to wee wee or something. Anyhow, we will probably cash in early as well.
Hey! Nobody said anything about Fall/Thanksgiving picture of Rio and Beau that we snuck in and took and posted earlier!!!
6:44 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Just finished cleaning up. Dishwasher on the last go around. Everything was tip-top.
Skyped again with YSAS, SO and they also had “Travis, the half zombie” with them.
He looks different without the zombie makeup.
Riö and Beau, glad you are full of burps. Glad I”m not sleeping at your house.
The Pack was very good. Patsy got to have her pills in mashed potatoes.
OlelyHowlers, umm your Pop has to WHAT? That is a great picture of Beau and Riö. I wonder if Beau is surprised by something. His ears are standing straight up.
6:44 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Here I am – sheared like a sheep. I don’t like the camera, even an iPhone, so all my pictures show me with my ears back.

6:45 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Howlers!….Wheeze!…We just got back from a really long Thanksgiving Day walk…cough!sneeze!…I thought the photo was of some friends of yours…snort!…Beau’s ears definitely do not stand up like that and we do NOT wear scarves…sniff!…Even on Eating Holidays..grunt!…Thanks for thinking of us though!…heh!

8:06 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Riö, Zoe and I enjoyed that movie. Wöökie is correct.
Sammy, don’t listen to a certain pug. You look divine.
Having a small slice of cherry and pumpkin pie. Might have another slice of that pumpkin pie!
8:10 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Ahem…I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner (burp). The paint is drying and the window displays are almost just right for tomorrow’s opening of the Musher’s Mercantile Holiday Boutique at 8am (AK time).
8:33 pm on November 22nd, 2012
We are very thankful for restaurants that serve prime rib with the bone in. We are very thankful that they had a very nice waitress who went out to the kitchen and found two more bones for Mama to bring home so that we can each have our own. We are thankful that Mama hid the boxes and packing tape before they left, so those Wrotten Kats couldn’t harrass us while they were out. We are thankful for retirees condos in FLORIDA where Aunt #1 now lives with Ichabod Crane. We are thankful we get to sleep in our own cuddly beds, with no overfilled Pugs to add “atmosphere” to the room.
And we are thankful the great friends e have made on this here blog.
8:38 pm on November 22nd, 2012

9:04 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Wookie, Gingersnap crust for the pie. I am stealing that idea.
Heh, OHowlers, It is an amazing photo. ‘Rio’ looks funny!
Amalia. Loved the story. I would not invite that family back. Snicker. Thank dog our family has none of those. We are very lucky.
9:05 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Oh yeah, Sammy you look great. More hair than I though from your earlier descriptions.
9:08 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Hi Liz! We miss you!
9:09 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Staff!…It was the homemade pumkin icecream that got all four of me and Beau’s bugged out eyes…heh!heh!…One has to wonder how that would taste. …yum!
9:11 pm on November 22nd, 2012
I miss you guys too! and hope everything’s been okay lately – some of you have had a tough year and my thoughts are with you.
9:15 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Ya, we will eat anything!
Hi LizF!
Do Aussie’s have a Thanksgiving Day?
Love all the pictures today. That look on YSAS’s face!
PrincessSam: What happened!? That is a great haircut!
I had a Reuban sandwich for brunch and pan-fried prawns in garlic and black bean sauce (& veggies) from the local Chinese restaurant for supper. Delish
9:17 pm on November 22nd, 2012
LIZ!!!! HI HI HI HI HI!!!
Good to hear from you. We were just thinking about you today, and wondering how you and the lovely Miss Cricket are doing. So glad you stopped by for a visit.
9:22 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Barb is back from her dinner across town. Nice day, good food.
Liz, what a nice surprise to hear from you. We have missed you.
9:40 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Hi hi! D, we don’t have a TG day, though dad and I usually do it for family tradition, but he has been really unwell so this year we’ve had to let it slide. Still, there’s no reason not to whip up a pumpkin pie in a spare moment and I must do that soon.
WHat’s in a Reuben sandwich?
9:46 pm on November 22nd, 2012
T&G, Cricket says hi and she’s still doing okay on very rickety legs but barking up a storm and eating very enthusiastically, i bet she’s wishing we’d done a turkey today!! How are all of youse?
9:51 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Liz!…heh!snort!heh!….I’m fine Liz. How is your gallery coming these days? Any new shows happening. I hope so!!…snort!
9:52 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Goo’day Liz! How wonderful it is to hear your accent again. I always read your comments with an Australian accent.
It is time for me to go to bed. Patsy is tapping her toe and glancing at the clock.
The Patriots are
smashing or pummelingwinning against their opponents.Zoë said, “This day was more than I could have asked for. I thought it was going to be terrible, but I had a good time.”
TTFN
10:06 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Liz – did you know that this was OUR day? Everyone keeps saying it is T G Day – that’s US!
Anyway, a Rueben is corned beef, sliced thin and piled high, topped with sauerkraut, thousand island or russian dressing and swiss cheese, all on rye or pumpernickle bread. Ooo – they are soooooo good.
Melanie – we are so glad that Zoe was able to enjoy her day.
10:06 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Rio I think of you every day because of my neighbour’s pug Claude, who is very cute, and we see him often. Cricket adores him. Just finishing a show this week and there are some new works on the website, thank you for asking!
Gday Melanie!! I’m glad Zoe had a good time, it must have been hard leading up to it. How’s YSAS’s Aussie accent? I always loved his rendition of ‘b*stard’.
10:08 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Oh – we forgot to say that the best Ruebens are served with the insides nice and warm, and the outside on grilled bread. yumm
10:11 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Clod!…snort!…Some poor pug is named Clod?…grunt!…Although, and you’ve never met Beau, that would be a good and fitting name for him at times…heh!…Clod.
10:15 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Where is Redbone? We need to hear about a southern Thanksgiving.
Natasha, are you on a mission? Haven’t heard from you in a while.
10:21 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Poor Beau! I’m sure he’s not a Clod!!
American recipes are cool, there’s always another level of obscurity for me – what’s Russian dressing? 🙂
10:21 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Reubens are one of our favorites! They can also be done with turkey, but corned beef is the best. Gotta be grilled too.
Rio, Claude is not the same as clod, even tho pronounced very similarily.
10:47 pm on November 22nd, 2012
You pronounce Claude differently from us. We draw it out, claaaaaaaawwwwed, not shortened. When I see him i say it Cload, like the french!
11:04 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Cload!…heh!…When we address Beau, its just plain Clod rhyming with Sod…grunt!heh!
Marigold!..((((sigh)))) we are still trying to get through this movie. Not one we understand or enjoy very much…grunt!…Not Wookie’s fault by all means. I just don’t see the appeal – Judy Dench is very annoying and we here love Judy Dench. Although, she plays the most likable character of the bunch…wheeze!
11:11 pm on November 22nd, 2012
My brother-in-law is a Claude (Cload). He is not a clod.
Russian Dressing is mayonnaise mixed with a little catsup and horseradish also minced onion and perhaps some chopped pickles.
11:15 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Name!…Some of us live with Clods and some of us live with Cloads…sniff!…I always wondered what Russian Dressing was…gah!…Dawson would know, she loves that Horsie Radish…heh!
11:15 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Wow! I need to take a food tour over there. ‘Nighty-noodle everyone.
11:24 pm on November 22nd, 2012
You don’t have to add the horseradish.
11:25 pm on November 22nd, 2012
Nighty-noodle!…snort!…Thats a new word combination for me…heh!heh!…I will definitely have to incorporate that into my daily speak…grunt!…Night Liz! OR have a good day! Take care and check in again when you can!…chuffle!
11:50 pm on November 22nd, 2012
