Happy Presidents Day!
“Washington and Lincoln,” Admin says. “Aren’t we due for someone of that caliber?”
Welcome Dolly.

Good morning, everyone! Understand “President’s Day honors all prez but mom told us that before our time folks got both Washington and Lincoln’s b-days off. Wow, more days off in a short month 🙂 Hope all got to see what they wanted on the Olympic coverage.
Melanie, take care of the McRib. Truman and BooBear and mom, healing thoughts. Wose, just because you’re sepcial.
Have a majestic Monday.

Macy got all poodled up when she read that she was going. She does not have any booties and was concerned about the snow. heh
My brain must be totally on dog right now. The following headline was read earlier.
Fog Forces Delays in Sochi, Latest Weather Problem to Dog Games
I read the entire article trying to figure out where there were dog games.
Everyone keep fingers, paws, eyes and everything else crossed for me. I have a small patch of hives on my leg. I WILL NOT have that nonsense take over my body again. Especially not NOW.

Happy Belated Birthday to Rose!
Hi Sidekick! Glad you’ve come aboard.
Now time for a nap.

Macy’s Mom, our mom always says'”Relax. Breathe in and out. Think calming thoughts and say “Goose feathers” 3 times”. Can’t hurt 🙂

Greetings!
Thanks youse guys for the birthday wishes! Where is Rio? I did not receive a sloppy pug kiss from him. : (
Macy:Wow, tomorrow is the big day!!! Wishing you safe travels, no pat-downs, and lots of fun in Alaska.
I am so excited for youse who are going to Alaska! Take lots, and lots of pictures! Give lots of tummies , especially to my mama Luna, and my VBBF, Belle Starr.
Tummies to Junior, Tenzing , Annabellle (I shared her couch with her), Bonnie, Pancho and Lefty (heh, I left with my gloves), and the Detectives, (Grizz and I held them as puppies), and any new pups at Snowhook! Bigs hugs to Hobbit, AJ, and the Pixie. And if you meet Mick and Jodi (people or dogs) big hugs to them too!
I am so excited for youse, I may splort!

The painters are here! And right now they are saying very naughty words about the four layers of wallpaper that need to come off.
oops.

10:24 am on February 17th, 2014
Upset words, we can’t help but love them.
Our Lady is heading to the village where she ate that imfamous stew. She probably won’t have internet access for the next couple of days, but she’ll be thinking of all youse especially Melanie. And that poor priest…

T&G’s Mama: Please say the knotty pine paneling is staying. It is beautiful.
11:40 am on February 17th, 2014
We can dream, can’t we, about having a president of the caliber of Washington and Lincoln. I’m afraid it is a pipe dream.
Macy’s Mom, We have everything crossed for you for takeoff tomorrow. We are cheering for you!! Woo Woo
All of you that are taking Airborn before your flight to Alaska. Remember to do the same thing on your return trip.
If we do not hear from Rio today, I am going to get hysterical.
11:40 am on February 17th, 2014
Royals: Gasp! We agree with Sharon & the Herd of Hounds about the Beautiful Knotty Pine. As for that complaining painter…doesn’t he know that’s why you hired him?
Macy’s Mom: goose feathers, Goose feathers, Goose Feathers!
and on that note…Safe Trip to you and your mom and Mountains of Fun in Alaska!!
Hounds: Nana remember that too…a holiday for Lincoln’s B-Day and another one for Washington…it was much More Fun in those bygone days.
Good Morning All. Hope youse are all on a Holiday.
11:41 am on February 17th, 2014
Admin: Yes.
New FOC: Dolly, Caesar and Farrah. Three beautiful dogs.
Macy’s Mom: Count down to take off. See you in Alaska!
A pox on those hives! Wait! Maybe not.
Wose: I will give hugs to everyone for you!
I am now officially worrit about the evil pug. I know he decorated your cake but he must be seriously tied up not to give you a sloppy pug kiss!
T&G: Ugh! 4 layers of wallpaper. I can understand the lurid language. The wood is beautiful!
SnowhookBella: Travel safe and beware the Moose-head Stew.
Melanie: The Iditarod…brought to you by the color purple! Here’s hoping your day is peaceful.
DianeC: Yes, I didn’t take the Great Depression into account. That would put a big damper on Flapper frolics.
Busy day for me…

Anyone who loves the %}€!%~ knotty pine can come get it. The entire house is done in it and it is old, dark and boring.
Our living room that looks out on our lovely wooded back yard is floor to ceiling knotty pine – that us staying because it makes the room feel cozy and natural. But knotty pine in a teeny dark bathroom? Methinks not.
We think you will like the finished product. The painter thought the colors were lovely.
And just for a chuckle:

12:44 pm on February 17th, 2014
Wow, we had an adventure when mom went out to run errands. The big gate (who knew it could open?) did just that, it opened all by itself. So Darah and I did a walkabout. Lazy ol’ Pookey stayed in the house. When mom came home, Well let’s just say she said a few words that would make a sailor blush. She opened the car doors, we jumped in, she tied the gate with a rope and took us, us, us for a ride 🙂

OH, and look whose foto showed up here!
12:51 pm on February 17th, 2014
Oops, they didn’t show up HERE…as Chet’s friends foto section. Hope we hear from them soon 🙁
12:59 pm on February 17th, 2014
T & G, Have you thought about painting the knotty pine in a nice soft semi gloss or low luster paint? It would be much less work than removing it and repairing the drywall or plaster behind it. Plus it is a very nice look.
1:01 pm on February 17th, 2014
We are preparing to put our missing pugs’ photo on cases of beer.
1:07 pm on February 17th, 2014
Barb – we are painting the wood. We have NO idea what is under that wood. Don’t really want to find out.
1:37 pm on February 17th, 2014
T & G, Great minds think alike! Can’t wait to see the finished project.
We did manage to get up to WI. to pick up a new chair for our living room, and make it back before weather got really bad. It snowed for a bit then stopped. We made a mad dash up there and now the snow is starting up again and is supposed to be heavy-4″ to 8″ by evening.
Finished The Longest Ride yesterday. It was pretty good if you like Nicholas Sparks. Now starting Sycamore Row. and I think it is going to be excellent.
1:42 pm on February 17th, 2014
Although the knotty pine is lovely it is dark. As I get older I appreciate light more and more. It would have to go for me also. I mean get painted not get torn out.
It is very strange that Rio and Beau have not been on lately. I am feeling a little better after my stomach flu and think we have to mount an expedition to check them out. I wonder if Teddy RR is old enough to drive yet. I wonder if the Wookiemobile has had an oil change lately? If we must I can get Alice with the Lear Jet but maybe someone can do some selected blurring. (Alice and Rio, you know, are sometimes sniffy with each other.
I think we need an intervention.
1:43 pm on February 17th, 2014
T and G, I am with you on not wanting to know what is behind something. I tried to put a little new grout in the shower and discovered there was no wall behind the tile. Several hundred $$$ later, the grout was repaired, along with a lot of new wall. gah.
The living room is almost finished, just leaving the kitchen. I have just enough of my mom in me that I have to clean before I leave, but certainly not to her level. She cleaned her oven last week. Mine was done at Thanksgiving and that will have to do.
1:45 pm on February 17th, 2014
Oh dear, oh dear – the painters have stripped the wallpaper and treated the woodwork to prep for painting, but they had to leave it to dry til tomorrow. So poor Mama can’t use her kitchen tonight and probably not tomorrow night either.
Awwwwww.
She is SO disappointed.

T&G’s Mama, so sorry you can’t use the kitchen (not).
Macy’s mom, tell people if they wish to do a white glove inspection, join the military. Your house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy 🙂
B&M, enjoy the new chair. The Sochi (or is that Suchi?) temps sound the same as here in TN.
Mom is harvesting dog hair, rearranging dust and mopping wet Newf prints today. Tomorrow, near 60+ , she will trim dormant plants before they wake up.
2:27 pm on February 17th, 2014
Macy’sMom: I took pictures of the state of the house last time I returned. I’m to look at them prior to cleaning before I leave. There will be no cleaning while I am gone + construction ongoing. Also, it only takes one day for the house to be filled with cat hair. I will clean when I get home if the house is still standing.

Update on the pug!
Siber & I just blurred in from the Rockies and we are happy to report that, other than his usual grumpiness, all is well. He is taking a much needed breather, but assures everyone he will be back soon.
Apparently, between supervising his friend’s cake decoration yesterday and the visit to the priest, it was all too much for him.
(whispering) it may have been too much for the priest too. heh, heh.
2:32 pm on February 17th, 2014
Correction…I blurred…Siber drove the Porsche.

Rio’s Friend here. Just want to let you know that my computer is in really bad shape. It keeps trying to repair itself so I fear the worst. Seems one or both of the boyz sat on the key board or spilt a bowl of beer on it. Everyone is stressing out because the Iditarod is fast approaching and we do not have any way to watch it. Also, if you know of any part-time jobs for Pugs that would be very helpful right now.
3:30 pm on February 17th, 2014
Oh, oh…Someones are in Big Trouble.
3:37 pm on February 17th, 2014
Hmm…this explains the visit to the priest yesterday.
I, for one, wouldn’t want to be in Riö & Beau’s paws right now.
Yeep!
3:44 pm on February 17th, 2014
Very glad to know that Rio and Beau are ok – at least until their Friend gets her hands on them…
3:46 pm on February 17th, 2014
I suppose I could give Rio and Beau a part-time job with my construction company. They could learn the finer points of digging.
3:52 pm on February 17th, 2014
SiberH, outside breaking rocks in the hot sun is just the ticket. I will send them over as soon as I find their little shovels.

gulp I don’t have any orange jump suits.
4:12 pm on February 17th, 2014
Even if their curly pug tails are in trouble, it’s good to know they are (almost) safe.
4:14 pm on February 17th, 2014
I have alerted the stay-at-home spouse that dog hair does not magically clean itself. I don’t care if it piles up to the window ledges while I am gone, but I expect it to be somewhat the way I left it when I get back. We will see. I did not dust, that would just be masochistic. Just waiting for daughter to arrive with the space bags she promised. She brought them last night, but they were about half again larger than the suitcase, so she will try again today.
Dawson…you have a cat?
4:28 pm on February 17th, 2014
Bulletin! I just received a garbled message on my
little kat GoPhone. It sounded like Riö, but the only words I could make out were, “please send help” & something about a chain gang. Yeep!

Macy, This may be Dawson’s cat:

Barb&Magpie: This FOC looks similar to the one from the Westminster Kennel Club dog show that we were trying to Describe…except that the Show Dog had Pug-like fur, but the same color as in the photo. Does this ring a bell with you?

Nana wishes she had paid more attention at the time. Googling the show only lists the top 4 in each category…eg: Terriers, etc.

It Must be Time to Eat.
5:46 pm on February 17th, 2014
I saw the Giant today and can report that he is as hale and handsome as ever– and that he is looking forward to meeting the Plunderers who are traveling so far to visit. He is super excited about how the Bernie & Chet litter is doing [“they love to run and eat which is what makes a winning team”] and thinks that the newest litter might show the same promise. The B&C litter are still too young for the Iditarod but the future looks great.
I hope the Feed the Giant food bags are full because he is already so lean that he can’t afford to lose his usual race weight loss (IMO).
It has been a tough training year with the crazy weather. Eleven days to the start! Whooo Hooo! GO SNOWHOOK

BSD, I believe that is a Belgian Tervuren. No wonder you like him, the Tervurens are closely related to the Malanois, I believe.
6:05 pm on February 17th, 2014
Masquers, it is one of the Belgians.
6:28 pm on February 17th, 2014
BSD, That is a beautiful dog. Such expression in the eyes.
T & G, How did the day go? Most of the really messy part is behind you. Removing wallpaper creates a huge mess. Oh, and so sorry to hear you couldn’t cook tonight. Sob.
6:34 pm on February 17th, 2014
The Tervurens are part of the Herding Group.
Josh just came over and shoveled the driveway. Still snowing, but most of it has passed.
Tonight for dinner, Shrimp Scampi, organic spaghetti and Brussels sprouts. The Scampi is by SeaPak, not home made, but it is delicious.

Hello all,
In case you haven’t heard iditarod is not going to Fairbanks this year and will remain in Willow. Good and bad news in that front. More to come on trail conditions as I learn more.
On another front I would like a circular patch for my coat specific to the plunderers. Sort of a logo for you all. Any ideas on what you’d like your logo to look like? Or would you rather not have something like that?
Thanks for your help.
Aj

Barb&Magpie and Hounds: Thanks! Our Belgian Family is quite handsome…if I do say so myself.
C.Hobbit: One thing we Cannot have is a Hungry Giant. That’s like dealing with a Hungry Bear!
AJ: Does it Have to be circular? Can you use the Plunderer Iditarod Forever Patches from last year?
8:13 pm on February 17th, 2014
I do not have a cat – but the man who lives in this house has three – and they own me.
Willow Re-start! Hooray!
AJ: Thanks for the news. Regarding the patch: How about one with Chet and WhiteyLance’s outlines (ala the Snowhook logo) showing Chet with ears that don’t match and Whitey with red and white jacket (like on the furever patch) with everything else black and white.
8:15 pm on February 17th, 2014
AJ suggested a patch that would be our logo. Great idea! A logo is different from our patches – our logo wouldn’t change from year to year.
8:19 pm on February 17th, 2014
Barb – yes, the really messy part is done. Tomorrow is the basr coat and maybe the beginning of the paint – depends on how everything dries. And when the new snowstorm is going to hit. We already have a good frozen pizza in the freezer – just throw it in the oven, paper plates and done.
AJ -we would happily pose for a portrait that can become the official logo for you.

Staff: restart in Willow… good for us, nasty piece of trail from Rainy Pass through the Farewell Burn and more.
Will the logo have purple?
Macy’s Mom, safe trip. Will you have internet in AK?
So many questions, so little time.
9:04 pm on February 17th, 2014
Oh yeh.
The Farewell Burn. AJ broke a sled on that piece of trail one year.
The two black cats that live in this house are scared of their own shadows and the Mama Cat is so evil she would make the pug look like a pussy cat.

About the patch. I think it should be simple. I like the idea of a circle with PLUNDER curved around the top half. ON in the middle. And on the bottom curve chetthedog.com
Maybe a sled and dogs could separate the two.
Simple black and white.

Plunderer logo (perhaps more suitable for a rectangle rather than a circle):
A Newf holding part of a banner in his mouth which says Plunderer on…
A row of dogs of different breeds underneath the banner. A cat at the end playing with the tail of the banner. The dogs could all be represented as cartoon figures rather than actual embroidered breeds.
If it is a circle patch, PLUNDER ON all around the perimeter of the circle. Inside could be “Dogs rule, Cats drool” or something like that. Something funny that represents us as a group.
P.S. no offense with the cat quote, it is an actual quote. Perhaps Basil & Sage can come up with a better one
