Happy Patriots’ Day!

To the rest of the country – from one of the places that celebrates it (the 2 being Mass. and Maine). Bad weather, so the Red Sox traditional 11 AM game is canceled, but the Marathon is on. As for what it’s about: the battle of Lexington green and the Old North Bridge in Concord. And freedom!

One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country-folk to be up and to arm.

“By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.”

(First stanza of “Concord Hymn” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.)

    Good morning all.

B, Thanks for more of the Concord Hymn. We have always Loved that Poem.

The Observation of this day in D.C. also gives us a small reprieve from the Tax Deadline.

    Good Morning Everyone.

Good morning B, BSD and everyone. We put our flag out to recognize the day.
Today is 40* colder than yesterday. We have even had snow flurries twice today.
Glad all the bird feeders are well stocked. Hummers are enjoying their feeder.
It may not be a marvelous Monday, but it is a marathon Monday thanks to OFA and the FourHawks.

    Greetings!

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere…

We had to memorize this poem in grammar school.

Good luck to all the Boston Marathon runners!

    Lots of rain here today.

    Good day to all!

Good afternoon, guys! Who decided that the work week should be 5 days and the weekend on 2? Was he on drugs or what??

I had to look up Longfellow’s “Paul Revere’s Ride” since it’s been a long time since I read it. I think it was first published in 1861. Emerson’s “Concord Hymn” was written, I think, in 1837, for the dedication of a monument commemorating the Battle of Concord.

    BooBear is making me laugh.

Bread!….My friend did not bake bread today as she burnt up the pizza pan she used yesterday…grunt!…So tomorrow after the library shift she is going in search of a heavy duty pan to bake her high-temp crusty goodness on…wiffle!sneeze!…The dough is smelling very delish and will keep in the fridge for up to 14 days. There is no way that dough will last that long as it will be baked up into crusty fluffy goodness very soon…slurp! …Maskers bring that big ole bottle of kangaroo wine over here tomorrow and let us par-take…snort!

Just read where a woman won the Boston marathon and the second place was another woman. Reminiscent of some ‘80’s Iditarods 😊.

We just saw a video of a mama gorilla kissing a new born gorilla. We were trying to get Our Lady to post the link on this here blog, but for some reason she can’t copy the link.

Belle Starr is beside herself and demanding not only a baby gorilla, but a gorilla mama. We think the mama reminds her of Luna. In our opinion, the mama reminds us of Beau.

Hobbitz: I must have them. Thank you! Out of curiosity, if that Damn Pixie finds out I have a baby gorilla and the mama of said baby gorilla, can I keep them at your place?
