Good 2016 morning, everyone! Welcome Blake, you are quite a looker. Mom climbed into the bed when the neighborhood fireworks started, we held her down.
Have a friendly, frisky Friday friends and family.

    Greetings!

Happy New Year! I actually stayed up to watch the ball drop and ring in the New Year with Grizz! (I think it was the non-strengthening cocktail that did it). :^)

The GOOGLE doodle of yesterday is now animated.

Congratulations to the new Friend of the Month, Blake!

Wishing all of you a New Year filled with happiness, health, friendship, hope, new beginnings, and most of all love.

Thank you to my blog family for your continued support, kindness, and generosity!

Happy New Year, friends! Mom has been enjoying her week off so has been catching up on the blog in spurts. Glad the Pixie is doing better. Mom hopes she is going to be able to walk okay when she heads north to Alaska. It is sounding like they are not having a good snow year again. Hopefully, the next two months brings lots of snow to the trail.

HOH’s, you answered a question we were about to ask. What is the likelihood of seeing the northern lights in person? Sounds like not very good from your report.
    Maybe this year?

Mom aspent New Years Eve with friends at their house. A group of about 7 just visiting, eating and playing card/dice games. No cocktails for her since she was driving home (even the short 10 minute drive.). 2016 came in cold and blustery here and Mom is relaxing and watching TV instead of undecorating. She still has the weekend for that.

Wishing all our friends on the blog a wonderful new year of peace and happiness.

Happy New Year for reals y’all!
Mom got up and went to the resale shop to work and now she is back here to spend the day with us, us, us. She forgot to get her blackeyed peas while she was out. Oh, well.

    Happy 2016 to everyone!

I love that picture of handsome Blake and the locale is stunning as well. Congrats!

Staff: Thanks for the video of the Northern lights. I was up most of the night scouring the skies with no luck at all.

Kat: Thanks for posting that horse video even if it made my eyes leak. I shared it with my horsey daughter in law. I remember when Staff was horse crazy. Glad she didn’t trade me in back then – I know she wanted to at times.

I had signed up for the fitness class at noon but he called me up at almost 9 (I was barely up) wondering if I could come at 10 instead since all the other noon people cancelled. So I did.

After that I was really hungry and had the black-eyed peas with some leeks, spinach, fenugreek seasoning and Mennonite pork sausage with jalapenos and cheddar. Oh my dog, it was sooo good.
I will have to make the cornbread later.

Thanks for the calendar page, Mr Tyb and the prayers, Storyteller.

I wish you all a year of peace, joy and unconditional Chet-the-dog love.

Wishing each of you health, peace and joy this coming year.

    From Louise Penny’s January newsletter:

“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart…I’ll always be with you.” ~~ A.A. Milne ~~

Wookie and Teddy RR’s Dad – the bayberry candle thing is actually Swedish but has translated to being a New England thing. Traditionally, you are supposed to light the taper candle and let it burn until it is gone. Most people that follow the tradition burn the candle in a sink since it takes many hours for the candle to be gone.
The famous Yankee Candle company started making New Year’s bayberry tapers a few years ago that were smaller and thinner so they would burn faster.

(Thanks for the nose slurps Edgar and Miss Pretty)

I always thought black eyed peas were a southern tradition. Never knew they were part of the Jewish New Year as well. Seems it might be world wide.

Rio, we make it as part of the tradition, but let’s face it. Ham, beans and cornbread are just plain delicious!
