After joining in the burning ceremony last night at nine, we took what was supposed to be a short katnap.
Fireworks woke us up sometime later as the clock was striking the midnight hour.
Someone here is still not feeling tip top…it looks like chicken soup will be on the menu again today.
For now, back to joining MPM under the quilt.

Let me tell you why I need cheering up. You know the snow storm that was predicted for here. There is only 1/2 inch on the ground. There are some local weathermen that should walk the plank.

Mom rode Annie the last day of 2014, and the first day of 2015. She says that signifies something. We don’t know what. She really had to bundle up, because it is once again cold and windy. If only she had our fur.
Our tree and decorations are still up, but Mom collected up washable holiday items, such as towels and table runner. On the way, the Iditarod quilt came out!!! Woo Hoo!!!! By the way, is AJ entering any other races this year! We know Phillip is in the Copper Basin 300.

Rio, has your friend ever used lime juice to counteract some of the spice? This is something mom started trying in SoCal years ago. Sometimes it works, don’t know why. The POP love things spicy, the hotter, the better. Then they like to kiss people’s lips and pass along the heat. They are a barrel of laughs.

The New Years Day dinner was delish, according to the ‘rents. We wouldn’t know. The black-eyed peas had a yummy Thai garlic pepper sauce that gave it just the right kick. The pork and sauerkraut was heaven.
Now everyone is settled in by the fireplace, watching HGTV as usual. The Dream House of the year comes on at 9:00.

Last night at 2 am while I was tucked in bed sleeping, the motion light in the hallway came on. I could see Sadie standing there wagging her tail furiously–so hopefully not a burgler. Hmmm….then a little kitten appeared, then another one, then more. They had staged a coordindated prison break from the downstairs. This would have involved them all slipping their little paws under the french double doors and pulling inward to release the door latch. Time for them to find their forever home. First I gave them the small bedroom, then the large family room. Now they want the whole house.
Scared mama upstairs was out in the living room briefly today. Baby steps.

Our youngest cats (now just over a year) have learned to open mom’s closet door. Mom actually saw one of the do it the other morning. They now do it on a regular basis which aggravates mom to no end. Her closet is huge and all the cats are having a huge time playing and exploring…..and making a mess!

And finally–Happy New Year to all. I went up Mt. Hollywood as usual this year, but later in the day as it was unseasonably cold. this meant everyone and his/her siblings/dogs and horses was on the trail. I was duly impressed with the many tiny dogs making their way up some fairly steep inclines (over about a mile and a half, I’d judge), including a couple of slim and athletic looking pugs. I only saw one dog being carried by its two-legged Mom in a baby-sling frontpack.
On the whole, the dogs were cooler than the humans, but I think we knew that already.If I may be permitted a comment, green chili, like chocolate, baba ganoush, and beer (and red chili, for that matter) has the wonderful property of improving almost anything with which it is combined. I look forward to your chili recipe.
