Happy National Dog Day!

“Huh?” Admin says. “Never heard of it.”

“Me neither,” says Spence. “Although I believe we’ve posted about it before. So there’s a seeming contradiction. ‘I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself.'”

“We contain multitudes, all of a sudden?”

“Here’s the link.”

    Good morning all.
We are celebrating National Dog Day by being dog- tired.
And by hugging the stuffings out of two Corgis whom we have missed so much.

Happy Dog Day! Yippee!!! We have met quite a few Royals down here in N.C. Always think of our buddies Tupper and Gilly.

We just went out for one of our romps about Barkwells. Anyone who is up always rushes to their porch railings to watch us run full out. And watch our poor ‘rents try to keep up and then try to find us. So this morning, we found our Lab friend must have moved out because a little doggie was barking from inside her house. The gate was open so we investigated their porch until Mom called us out of there. One problem: only Kat and I returned. Meashka had gone on in their dog door and was investigating who knows what in their house!!!!! Oh my. Now Mom says we huskies have to hide out the rest of the week!
    Yeah, right. That’s gonna happen.

Thanks, B.Stover. I don’t have time to read it all again right now. I’m going to have to dig up my copy and peruse.

But this part reminds me of my Patsy . .

“Loafe with me on the grass, loose the stop from your throat,
Not words, not music or rhyme I want, not custom or lecture,
    not even the best,
Only the lull I like, the hum of your valved voice.”

Dawson, Check your SDD again. I found more food.

Rio, yes I would love to see what your friend does on her way to a completed picture. I looked at what you put up last night and I have decided the color looks just like a loofa sponge. Are you doing a loofa plant?

Melanie your Aurora picture is marvelous. I hope we will get to see some in February. I have played your music link three times today already.

Meashka is just a friendly pooch. She wanted to welcome the new tenants. Would she be as friendly if someone came in her door though?

Welcome home to Amalia and Leonard. Mr.Staff got home from his happy bluegrass concert last night too. He says he met a quilter who has made over 80 quilts at breakfast on Saturday. The quilter is a guy!

Macy, flashlights seem to be a guy thing. I like one or two around but the ones I like are the big heavy ones with the battery that weighs a ton. The last on of those we had Mr.Staff melted on his Popeil Rotisserie.

    10:39 am on August 26th, 2013

Ah, staff dang it, I was all set to question the 80 quilts at breakfast thing.

Dawson, do you collect stamps or just postmarks. I have acquired some of both which I have no use for, but was waiting to find the parameters of your collection.

Mom will NOT be going to “sit outside for awhile, and just smile”. She would be well done in no time. August took a vaca, but it is back in full force now.

Now that dad is a “retailer” he can buy from wholesalers, so if there is a particular knife or light you desire, he can try to get a deal on it for you. Just use my e-mail and I will give you his.

I am following in the footsteps of Staff and OH’s mom. There is no one here but me and the herd, so I shall get dressed when I am good and ready. So there!

Barb doesn’t stop at Taco Bell very often, but she does like their Nachos BelleGrande.

Up to page 74 and nothing about T.B. mentioned yet in Unleashed.

This is the first week of school and the b.s. is already starting. Barb said she would take Jack two afternoons per week, so last night DIL said “Oh can you pick up Lyla from school tomorrow”. Barb said till when. She said about 6:30 (btw give her dinner too). Then Barb said well you already have me booked for Wed. and Fri and that makes 3 days, I said I would do 2. So then she said she would make other arrangements for Wed. Evidently if you don’t set your foot down you get roped in. She said her sister is “more than happy to have the kids”. Surprise, the sister told Barb she feels used too, but if she says no she gets attitude.

Barb, My Mom told us that she would not be the kind of Mother who wanted to have the grandkids around all the time. She made us believe it too. She never ever whined about not having grandkids. She only got 3 from 6 children….

And she never did babysit much. I remember she went out to Montana once to stay with Christy, Scout’s owner, for a week or two. I can’t remember why she had to go, but I remember that the little girl was lovely and didn’t cry until her Mom (the Catty Librarian) came home. When she saw her Mother she ran to her and grabbed her and cried. At least I remember Mom telling me that.

Mama is finally home from the Really Long Shew. Here’s what she had to tell us about her adventures:

The Things I Learned While At the Fair
No female under the age of 12 or over the age of 24 should wear clothing designed for a 16 year old girl.

Camouflage pants that are fluorescent pink, or have glittery rhinestones on the back pockets are oxymoronic. And they’re stupid too.

Women who wear high heels to a fairground deserve to have sore feet.

Children who will not eat broccoli on their dinner plate will eat tempura fried broccoli from a paper tray.

Likewise, children who will not eat food that touches on their plate will happily consume any and all food-like substances that are piled into a paper tray, as long as you put ketchup or cheese sauce on it.

Cotton candy, plus drool from a toddler will create the perfect indelible pink ink on any fabric

Men with very large pot bellies need to be more aware of the message or graphic on their t-shirt. The sight of wolf eyes and nose, straining over a gigantic stomach can put you off your feed for quite some time. If the gentleman in question sneezes, you may actually need professional therapy.

A lovely tattoo of a hummingbird on a morning glory blossom will look like a buzzard barfing up blue goop when seen on the personal body parts of an un-ironed elder

Even spandex has a breaking point

Older women who dress in inappropriately revealing clothing, such as hot pants and lace boustierres with waaaaayyyyy too much makeup, bleached hair and long, red talon fingernails are called “cougars”. This is unfair to those magnificent, sleek, sinuous felines. These women should be called rhinos.

Every third person who meets the Storyteller has a Cherokee princess for a grandmother. We have decided that there was either a plethora of Cherokee chieftains four generations ago, with each having many daughters, or….there was one or two bad little Cherokee girls who really got around.

And so, we are now home. Weary and wealthier (by a little) and a little wiser too.
