Happy Labor Day
Bernie says it’s Labor Day and we’re kicking back. Some of the guys from Metro PD are coming over. A keg of beer just got delivered. The driver turned out to be Canadian. “Hey,” Bernie said to him, “did you know Labor Day started in Canada?”
“Eh?” said the Canadian guy.
Bernie laughed and laughed. If something was funny I didn’t get it. Was it possible Bernie had downed a quick one already?
“And no wearing white after today,” Bernie said after the beer track drove away. Was he saying that to me? I never wear white. I have two collars, the brown leather one for everyday, the black leather one for dress-up. Bernie was starting to worry me. I went over and sat on his feet. He laughed again and said, “Good boy.”

Yes, happy Labor Day. I didn't know it started in Canada. I remember the "no white after Labor Day" though. However, "they" now have a thing called winter-white. Just a silly fashion thing, Chet. You don't need to bother.

I thought "no white after Labor Day" referred to footwear.
By the end of summer my white Keds are a light grey-taupe – so it's all good.
As for those Canadians, they walk among us, almost undetected. Then they speak.
Eh?

Happy Labor Day back to all of you. Enjoy.
Hey, Chet. High paw! Hope Bernie enjoyed the beer. Canada produces some great brews.

I typed "fashion rules wearing white" on Google search and there are 909,000 results. It may have started with footwear, but I remember the "rule" against wearing white pants, jackets, belts, dresses after Labor Day. In fact, I still hesitate to do so. Aren't we silly Chet. How is the beer fest?
