Happy Halloween to Pearl and Audrey!

A Mets win last night thanks to the help of a former Yankee, Granderson, and David Wright. (Whispering) Maybe Billy Joel should sing the National Anthem for the rest of the series…he seems to have brought the Mets good luck.

Movie day for me and Grizz.

Create a good day, and Happy Halloween!

That movie preview was too funny! Seriously tho, they should do away with daylight saving time. They say people react like they are jet lagged, and it takes several days to adjust. Just leave it the same year round, right?

The little trick or treaters start at 3:00. Love it, 5 hours of non stop barking. Gah!

    Morning everyone.
Our plans for the day include making the house lightproof so no wayward tricky-treaters come banging on the door.
There is a big parade and festival in town where all the kids go. Then at 8:30 to 9:30, neighborhoods are assaulted by teenagers, sans costumes come with pillowcases and demand chocolate.
Nope – Mama don’t play that. 90% of the neighborhood will be dark. Kind of a shame that Halloween has gotten so out of hand here.

I’m laughing at the videos. (Watched both “Spring Forward” and “Fall Back.”) I hate daylight saving time.

T & G, not my favorite holiday either, but I suck it up and buy candy. I have at least 150 t/ts each year. Josh and Jess come over and park here to go thru the neighborhood. I hope they leave the puppy at home. He is out of hand and also he peed on my carpet last time here. Don’t want to watch him and answer the door 100 times. Think I will call and give them that message.

    Barb – gah……puppies!!!!

We used to enjoy Halloween. We dressed up, and decorated the house and had sound effects, etc.
But with the parade now, parents don’t let their little ones go door to door. It is only the wild big kids that show up.

Happy Halloween, all! Audry and Pearl look very festive. I like their costumes. Mom NEVER tries to dress me up. Sometimes she has a brain cell that works.

Mom and Dad quit handing out candy years ago. She ended up with the teenagers coming without costumes and with pillowcases. Nope, not here. So then mom had to quit buying the candy so she wouldn’t eat it. She seriously has no control around candy at all. Around here, the neighborhoods do hayrides for the kids and stop where it is evident that the homeowner is participating. We live at the end of a street in the back of our acreage neighborhood and just found out that the hayride is starting at the end of our street. Great-not! Bunch of kids will be milling around in front for who knows how long! Mom is hoping to be gone at the time but hate to leave the house empty.

We LOVE daylight savings time! Just leave it that way all year long!

Here we have scheduled hours 4:00 to 7:00 for the trick or treating. I have the girls shut into the bedroom and I am ready for the little darlings. The rain is still coming down, but it should end in the next hour. I am not going to eat any candy, no I am not!

Halloween is Mom’s most favorite day of the year. There were even people dressed up funny and scary on the bike trail. Heh!
Also, we all LOVE Daylight Savings Time. What we hate is this Fall Back crap when they take dst away and make it get dark before the ‘rents even get home from work. Bah!

  26. Barb, Maggie and Lucy

BML: We apologize for ringing the bell. It was an accident caused by a wardrobe malfunction. Everything was going according to plan. Pancho looked great in his evil pug costume, and Lefty looked great as as Pancho. And, then it happened. Pancho’s tail popped loose of its curly tail confines and accidentally rang the bell.

Scout: Don’t mind if we do. We will make the rounds. Happy howl-o-yeep!

It sure does make sense to have certain hours for the halloweeners. If we had that, we would be prepared for the “little darlings” too.

We don’t have it as bad as the college town next door. Unfortunately, tomorrow’s newspaper will be full of stories of the damages to peoples’ properties in that town. It gets ugly.

Maybe Pancho and Lefty could show up there and grab a few pant legs.

We here hate the change of time as well. Mother Nature takes care of night and day naturally, without us having to set clocks back and forward.

In all the time we have lived in our development, we have not had any brats, er, kids come to our door.

Masquers, I love your Halloween Kat photo.

Grizz and I both liked “The Martian” a lot. Matt Damon is terrific in the film. IMAX 3D is definitely the way to see it. It has a great soundtrack which is a running thread in the film. Now I am curious to read the book.

I am going out on a limb here with my predictions for Best Actor Oscar nominees…Paul Dano for “Love and Mercy”, John Cusack for “Love and Mercy”, (although he may get the Best Supporting Actor nod), Matt Damon for “The Martian”, and Tom Hanks for “Bridge of Spies.”

Nekkid! We were changing into different costume for Scout’s house, but had a bit a trouble with the costume. Everyone Pancho tried to put his Beau, the Holy Pug costume one lightening would strike! In the interest of time, we change plans right o the spot and decided to go to Scout’s house disguised as one another in all our nekkid glory. We arrived just as God made us—we think Beau would approve—and made sure not to ring any door bells.

We haven’t had any “kids” come knocking for treats for a few years and with 3 inches of new snow on the ground overnight there will be an extra incentive to go to the public and private parties instead of individual houses. I bought 5 Twix bars, just in case.

BooBear, Yes I do know that SAS stands for San Antonio Shews. I love those shews. I told my husband I wanted to buy stock in that company but he researched them and found out they are privately held.

Probably they don’t want someone telling them they have to make the shews cheaper and in China. I agree! They are really good shews.

    The Martian was excellent!

I don’t mind falling back and gaining an hour but I hate the spring forward when I lose an hour. So I vote for NO CHANGE AT ALL!

Rio and Beau and friend, I hope your move goes well. I am so glad that I no longer have to move back and forth to my parents house. And that is only one van full of stuff. A whole house boggles my mind!

Rose, Mr.Staff read up on The Martian after we saw it. He said the word is that everything in the book is technically correct and possible. He did say however, that on Mars there are no terrible storms, just dusty breezes. But those dusty breezes can last a month because the wind is so light that it doesn’t blow the dust away.
