Hank has landed in a happy place. Although not too sure he will use that dog house very much. Just for show we think.

Hope Zeus is having a great day in his new home.

Barb is getting ready for her work day, so will catch y’all later.

If you don’t ever hear from Mama again, it is because she slugged some idiot, got arrested, and is being fitted for an orange jumpsuit.

We here need a pink bulldozer!

Hello All–I don’t know how I missed the eggs yesterday–I esopecially like the blue and white one wedgewoody one.
Also missed the picture of Zeus–a really handsome guy.
and the end post from Zoe was an extended blessing.

It’s Tuesday, which means free cookies at Subway (around here, anyway) and Taco Tuesday if you care for that sort of thing. Whatever awaits you this day, I hope you find it wonderful.

Blessed are dose who mourn, for dey will be comforted.
Blessed are da meek, for dey will inherit da earth.
Blessed are dose who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for dey will be filled.

Blessed are da pure in heart, for dey will see God.
Blessed are da peacemakers, for dey will be called children of God.

Hope all the sore knees feel better.

Snowfall warning tonight!? They better be wrong! It is currently warm and partly sunny. The bulbs are sticking their heads up and it looks as if some of the lavender made it through the winter. Oh boy!

I have to work a couple hours today because I took off yesterday to attend the Senior’s movie. What a waste. I do not recommend Noah. It was so bad that I left in the middle.

Not to worry, the humans can smooth out the rough edges of what mom calls the stubborn male Siberian syndrome, but they can’t really change us.

Siber-H: In what way is a Siber the opposite of a Border Collie?

  37. Siber-H
    7:06 pm on April 22nd, 2014

A Border Collie is so very trainable. Their focus is on their human. No other breed of dog can focus like as Border Collie Someone once said to own a Border Collie is to gain a shadow. Mom taught her Border Collie all kinds of tricks like finding a hidden toy or balancing a biscuit on his nose. They come when called. They don’t try to escape and can be let off leash.
This all sounds very good and it is, but a Border Collie is a very difficult dog to turn into a family member. The dog needs to be entertained and exercised a lot…both mentally and physically. Mom jokes that she was her Border Collie’s entertainment committee of one.

You know about us Sibers from reading the blog. We were not put on this earth to please humans. I, gag, hate to say this but we have been described as the most kat like of all breeds. You will never see a Siber being a police dog or a guide dog for the blind. We do pull sleds because that is FUN.
Mom thinks Sibers are easier than Border Collies but Sibers are sure not for everyone. We are not a traditional dog.

  38. Barb & Maggie
    7:07 pm on April 22nd, 2014

We could probably answer Bee’s question, but will wait for Siber to do so.

Glad to hear that Gramps got properly set up in rehab. How long is he expected to be there?

    Well there ya go!

  40. Barb & Maggie
    7:16 pm on April 22nd, 2014

English Shepherds have been described as Border Collies on downers, also as English Shadows. We are much more like B.C.s than Sibes, but much easier to have around. We aim to please, but are not so obsessive about it. Barb says she probably could not handle a B.C. (and not so sure about Sibes either!) Just kidding, guys!

  41. Herd of Hounds

Our mom has had 3 siber mixes and 2 newfs. All the rest of us are (as she puts it) rescues. We rescued her from something. Mom says she just loves members of the nation within, better than 2 leggers, sometimes. It sounds like Zeus is working really hard to find his niche in the pack,

    Happy Earth Day to youuuuuuu.

Mom has been out “taking care of business” in the mornings, which leaves us to entertain ourselves. Belle is just not very good at it. She thinks someone should be playing with her all the time. Then she mopes. Hey, we all miss him, but the sun is shining, the squirrels are squirrelling…

The Others are coming to spend the night. That means I have to give up my kennel and sleep on the bed. Sacrifice is my life.

  44. O'Howlers
    7:38 pm on April 22nd, 2014

Siber, you explained us very well. Mom loves our independence and ability to entertain ourselves. Zeus has ideas for how he would like to entertain himself. Mom says Fat Chance.

  45. Callie
    7:41 pm on April 22nd, 2014

Siber and Zeus – we must be cousins. When I came to live with Gramp, he took me to obedience school. HA! The trainer there told him in no uncertain terms that Pyrs do NOT make good obedience dogs. She said we are smart, (well, we KNEW that) but are bred to be independent thinkers. So I just want to be the best Pyr that I can be.

I may never sit on command, but I protected Gramp from a bear in the backyard, so they tell me that is all that matters.

I will be going to the rehab place to see Gramp soon. He didn’t get moved over there until this evening, and h’s pretty tired right now. We hope he will only be there for a week or two, but he has got to get strong enough to go on one of our long, but not brutal hikes.

Mama says she had a long, hard day. But that the doctors and insurance people had it far worse than she did. Wonder what she means by that?

  46. B. Stover
    7:55 pm on April 22nd, 2014

    Thank you Siber-H.

  47. Siber-H
    8:11 pm on April 22nd, 2014

    Stover, You are welcome.

Callie, I didn’t know Pyrs didn’t make good obedience dogs. It makes sense. You guys would need to be independent thinkers to protect sheep. You look after gramps and that is the most important job.

Mom did take the Border Collie to obedience school…not because he needed it but because that was just one more activity she could think up for him to do.

Mom never thought about taking me to obedience school. She doesn’t embarrass easily, but this would have been too much for her.

Siber, our mom took her very first Sibe to obedience training. They went to two classes before becoming training school dropouts.
The best part of that class was when the arrogant, snotty trainer told Mom to give him Boris so he could show her how it is done. Heh heh! Mom always laughs when she tells that part of the story. It was that guy who was embarrassed. Extremely embarrassed!
