Hank Meets the Brew Crew

A nice story from spring training. Baseball’s in the air, at least in AZ.

Good morning, everyone! Handsome new friends. Glad pup was smart enough to find a home. (And not embarrass a nation -a la Putin). Hope Dawson is safe and a great aunt soon. Hope the tail(bone) finger, Truman, Snowbella and Melanie are doing better. ML, your Alaska fotos are fabulous and it appears you are having a great time what with snow, 4-wheeling, Oklahoma!
One and all, have a scrumptious Saturday.

Finally, a story with a happy ending. Hank has a good future. You’re right, HOH, it’s a good thing he wasn’t in Russia!

We are going to have a scrumptious Saturday by going to Fresh Market and getting some crab cakes and perhaps even a lobster tail. They are on special today. What is the best way to cook them? I bet T & G know. It is not something we usually have and the outside grill is not an option.

Thanks for a happy ending, Chet & Admin.

ML – thanks for the pictures and log of your adventures. Yay. Next weekend Plunderers will be there with you and the rest of us will be waiting for more pictures and more log entries. Hint. Hint.

Wishing everyone under the quilt better days. Bella – keep calm and don’t carry on!

Barb & Maggie – I forgot we read Sycamore Row. We did enjoy it.
So many books. So little time.

    Enjoy your weekend, Everybody.

We are certain Hank thinks so with his Happy New Life.
    Yay Milwaukee Brewers!

Hounds: Barb&Magpie will have a Scrumptious Saturday for sure! Sounds Delish.

No baby yet. Looks like I will have to wait until my return to welcome the boy.
Rio: Great job on the Iditarod map.
I taught the Northern relatives how to play ” Seven’s” last night. Heh,heh. That and the results of the hockey game yesterday made for an excellent start of a Great Adventure.

Questions for youse who are flight savvy: can the ‘rents pack regular size bottles of shampoo, etc. in their suitcases, or must they still be the small trial sizes? Also, are they allowed to take snacks with them for the long trip, or must all food be purchased after going thru security?

Pre-packaged snacks are o.k. (unless you get a real idiot TSA officer) With the Daddy Dawg being diabetic, I pack dried fruit, cheese or p-nut butter crackers, fig newtons and chips (got most of the food groups covered). Not sure about poo and rinse in suitcase.

OH – your ‘rents may pack regular size bottles in suitcases. Put them in zipper plastic bags (as my ‘rents have had bottles leak at altitude). Snacks are allowed through security, as long as they’re not liquid.

    Safe journey.

    Thank you HOH and BC.
It is packing day today, right after they get all of the feed stocked up from our local feed store.
Tomorrow is “get stalls clean” day, knowing they will be a mess until they finally get back home. And get hay stacked as high as can be in the feed room. And go over everything with our farm/horse/chickie sitter. And dog playmate. (We don’t need no stinkin’ sitter. Mom is so worried about how much she must remember to ‘splain, because winter is very hard. There are so many more things to do in the cold and snow on this here farm.

Greetings from Chaos Central where we are now putting things back together after the big paint job. The Storyteller, who was an electrician in a former life, has decided that all switches and outlets must be replaced, so there is no power on in the kitchen and dining areas while he does those.
Gramp is polishing the oak floor, on hands and knees with rags and wood polish.
Mama is trying to look busy without putting in a whole lot of effort. She’s cagey, that one.
But tonight – she will cook a REAL dinner on her new stove. Woo hoo for some things, huh?

Same as y’all…we wish we were going too.

T & G, Since you are the expert lobster chef, how do your recommend fixing them inside? Is boiling OK? We have done them on the outside grill but can’t do that in this weather.

I do love Teemu Selannie but I do not like the score of this hockey game.

O’Howlers and other expected visitors: Every bathroom in the house is outfitted with full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner plus I have baskets of hotel soaps, shampoos and conditioners. So unless you are addicted to a particular brand, you don’t have to pack that stuff.

I’ve carried baggies of cut up veggies and snacks through TSA. I let them know in advance. If I have meat that needs to stay cool in my insulated lunch box, I use frozen ice packs (if they are gel or become liquid, they will be confiscated). If you have anything liquid such as a protein drink, it also has to be frozen at your initial check-in or it will be confiscated. It then defrosts during flight and by the time I need it, it is drinkable.

O’Howlers: I will get you directions today or definitely tomorrow. I have the basic route but want to drive it and add some landmarks so you don’t feel lost on the way.

Dawson and Staff: how much luggage will you have? I am thinking of borrowing my sister’s Subaru Outback to pick you up. I drive a Toyota Prius. Three full-size suitcases should fit fine in the rear but carry-ons might have to be with you in the seats.

Hobbit, thanks for letting us know about shampoo and soaps. We have crossed those off our lists. Mom is planning to bring a blowdryer unless there any extra of those available?
Don’t worry about a vehicle to pick up Staff and Mr. Staff and Dawson. We can do that in the midsize SUV we are renting. It can seat 4 comfortably, but 5 not as comfortably.

Snort – we’ve been on this rodeo before, and we’ve learned some difficult lessons. Cody has what he wants, which is freedom. Friends are moving in (apparently) and Chad is moving in, so let the party begin. For now, he is being reasonable. It won’t last, of course. Breena knows that we are done if she goes back. Here is what they told me: When you get your computer up and running at home, it will start automatically downloading all the updates for Windows 8. Then you will have to take steps to download Windows 8.1 They told me it wasn’t easy and not to do it. They knew I was computer stupid because I told them ahead of time. If you end up with a screen that you can’t close out with Windows 8, I do know how to solve that problem. Let me now if that happens to you.

SiberH!…I have a feeling it will “click” one day and I will figure out what the hell the design is….sniff!…But I am way too focused on just being able to get to this Blog, get to my SDD’s and get to the Iditarod GPS tracking to care about the subtle in-your-face bull-shit…grump!…I’m still bitter and pissed off that my friend has lost two freakin’ years worth of project photos and Auction files and dawg knows what else because of the hard-drive crash…growl!grump! and spit!

I have been keeping an eye on my Lady all day. We had a rough start when I thought the bunch of bananas were to share for everyone and I tried to take them to my dog pillow. We got things sorted out in the end. In case you don’t know, the bananas are for my Lady and no one else.

The Giant has been very good to that Damn-Pixie-who-stole-my-sparkles-but-I’m-not-supposed-to-call-her-damn-because-she-is-sick. This is no surprise. Like the rest of us, he doesn’t like to leave her side. To combat her boredom, he’s let her play with his hair. First, she put six buns in his hair and then braided it in a crown around his head. He put his paw down at letting her to take photos.

Rio, I don’t know if this will help, but I had them set up my computer where all I have to do is turn it on, click on the IE icon, and my home page comes right up. From there, I am home free and can get to my email and the internet.

Are you going to have them try to retrieve the data from the crashed hard drive? I hope all that stuff is not lost. That is heartbreaking.

Chad was doing well in Oregon, and came home for the summer. On Labor Day weekend he overdosed, and we sent him back to Oregon. He worked for a few months, quit his job, and is supposedly moving in with Cody and the jerk who gave Chad the drugs that almost did him in. This person was living with Jace and Breena and Cody. I am so glad to get Jace and Breena out of that mess.

    – It looks like two PUGS fighting under a blanket.

Oh what a long disappointing day. I am sorry not to have been on much lately but I have been trying to overcome my stomach problems. I am having no success. I tried to go out to buy snacks for the trip and had to go home after a terrible ‘accident’ jeez louise how disgusting.

So right now I am at the point that unless some wonderful miracle occurs I do not think I can make the trip to AK. I have not made the formal decision yet as I am so disappointed but…
I know that I really have to take care of my transplanted kidney and it is impossible keeping up with the water intake I am supposed to have daily. Grump and double grump.

Mr.Staff is letting me make my own decision on this but I know he thinks I will be miserable if I go. He reminds me of my trip to Hawaii where I spent the whole week except the last day in bed. True. And Florida where we were to go to Disney world and I spent the whole week with a terrible cold and saw nothing. grump and triple grump.

I want to make sure I am OK to visit Massachusetts so I will just pray for things to get better over the next week. GAH.

Anyway that is where I am so far. Any miracles welcome.

Rio. I am starting to really like my touch screen. Right click is touch and hold till you get the menu you remember. Off is open the charms bar on the right side, choose settings from the bottom and then hit the power button on the bottom. To close a link swipe all the way down to the bottom from the top of the screen.
search is at top of the charms bar and just start typing.

    Good luck.

    Gah. I finally went out to dinner. It seems like I am the only one taking the New Year’s directive to “get fluffy” seriously. Anyway I am sitting near someone evidently on a date. She has the most obnoxious laugh and has to laugh t everything said. Every few seconds. I can’t move to another table or I would. Can’t wait to leave. I feel like I am wasting my money as I can’t enjoy it. I kind of feel sorry for her –but me more. {{{sigh}}}
