Groundhog Day
Bernie switches on the TV. “Let’s watch Punxsutawney Phil,” he says.
Fine with me, although it’s not like Bernie to watch TV in the mornings. As for this Punk Phil or whatever the name is, that’s a new one on me, the only Phil I know being Fingers Phil Ferguson, a money-launderer – don’t get me started on that – and also a pretty sharp dresser, although he’s now sporting an orange jump suit.
“There he is now,” Bernie says. “They’re holding him up and it looks like he can’t see his shadow, meaning – “
Whatever it meant, or whatever Bernie was talking about in general is missed by me, on account of this Punk Phil appearing to be … is it possible? A groundhog? Just a common groundhog, of the type I’ve chased back down into their holes by the zillion? We’re turning on the TV in the morning and changing our whole routine just to watch a groundhog?
“Chet! Chet! Whoa! You’re going to knock over the whole – “

Great news from Phil. The groundhog did not see his shadow; that’s supposed to mean we’ll have an early spring. It can’t be too early.
LizF:
Thanks for the link to the Google Art Project; it’s a great one.

Good morning, everyone. I hope that everyone has electricity today, that the storm passes soon, and that you are all safe.
9:22 am on February 2nd, 2011
Nice and balmy here. I’m walking to work. All you in the storm stay home.
9:39 am on February 2nd, 2011
Dawson..define balmy..or barmy, heh
Goood morning everybody! Checking in with your Super Bowl area weather report. 12 degrees, WC -1…rolling power outages…ice covered streets…just another morning in paradise..Dad gets to stay home until 10 am..he should be happy I would think, but he is not..something about “what can I do there that I can’t do here”. whatever..he still has not gotten our pack up. I myself, do not sleep in a kennel, so I do as I please, and I am not in any hurry to get outside, yet. There will NOT be any pictures of me hovering today.
9:40 am on February 2nd, 2011
Macy, your new avatar is so beautiful!
9:44 am on February 2nd, 2011
Good morning. We made it through the night without losing power. About 180,000 in the Chicago metro area lost power, not sure how many more out here. We have not seen one car or truck go by yet, not even a plow truck. We had howling winds last night, and huge drifts. Snow blew under the garage door and is about 8 feet into the garage. Wind is still blowing, so we won’t get plowed out till later. We were on the outer edge, so didn’t get hit as badly as Barb’s kids. They have close to 2 feet, with 5-6′ drifts. Barb’s son does snow plowing and all of his trucks (about 4 or 5) are stuck in different locations. We are staying home!
9:53 am on February 2nd, 2011
Oh Oh…Chet is attacking the tv.
It’s still snowing here but it’s coming straight down rather than sideways. It’s beautiful! The wind chill is 10.
Good morning all.
9:58 am on February 2nd, 2011
Chet! The Pack understands your feelings about groundhogs! Also, they would have taken the TV out too.
One of our neighbors had a very fat groundhog eating their garden. One time, she saw the groundhog on it’s back holding on to a long stemmed flower and lowering it as it took another bite. Snicker. Reminded me of the last days of Rome.
The storm is still happening here, but it is not as bad as anyone forecasted. (Is it ever?)
We are having snow and ice right now. Should end by noon and then start up again.
We are going to have a cherry pie to keep in a good mood!
10:10 am on February 2nd, 2011
Yes, please, cherry pie for breakfast. Fruit is good for you, and pastry is like toast, right?
We have never met a ground hog. Are they cousins to the beavers? We do not take the word of some (sorry) Yankee ground hog for our weather forecasts.
Do you know what the traditional food for ground hog day is? Sausage

Mr. Service Dog thought he had the day off, but just when he got comfy, she decided to go to the store. Hopefully she did not drive.
10:19 am on February 2nd, 2011
Yum, cherry pie !!!
10:24 am on February 2nd, 2011
Once again the snow missed us. We got 2 inches of sleet and snow here in ski country bringing our total this year to 180 inches.
10:28 am on February 2nd, 2011
Oh, poor MollyPop, only 180 inches . . .
That’s 15 feet!
10:39 am on February 2nd, 2011
thanks sammie
11:02 am on February 2nd, 2011
No wonder that silly groundhog couldn’t see his shadow….heck, we can’t even see across the street! brrrrrr…staying in the house today. Corgis do NOT like getting wet!
Melanie – save a piece for us???
11:06 am on February 2nd, 2011
Melanie – Snow packs down and also evaporates so the ski report says the base on the trails is 24 – 54 inches. That includes all the snow they’ve made all winter too. Just think what we could have done with all the snow Barb’s daughter got.
11:10 am on February 2nd, 2011
Spring!… Both Phil and Chuck say spring will come early but not early enough for me and my friend…grunt!…She had to go out in the cold this morning and drive to the not-busy-at-all place…grump!
11:16 am on February 2nd, 2011
Here’s the average snowfall map for New York State. I’m in the red area south of Buffalo and the map shows an average of 150 inches. Conveniently that’s where ski country is located. The biggest snow is at the end of Lake Ontario which is around where Kirby used to live.
11:17 am on February 2nd, 2011
Rio – I thought your friend was working from home today.
11:22 am on February 2nd, 2011
The local weatherman this morning called the groundhog a stupid rodent. We don’t have groundhogs here.
Woooeee…zero degress here with several inches of snow on the ground. Mom even likes it but only because it is a novelty. She went to the drugstore this morning and was the only customer in it. New Mexicans are rather spoiled when it comes to the weather.
Glad Barb and Maggie are still with us.
I think I need to send mom to the store. Macy mentioned sausage.
11:26 am on February 2nd, 2011
Molly!… I think you missed a day. She got to work from here yesterday, ….gruffle!… We had a good time …heh!
11:28 am on February 2nd, 2011
I forgot the you had the storm first.
11:51 am on February 2nd, 2011
Cold!… It’s -8 degrees outside….brrrr!… Most of the schools are still closed today. I don’t know why my friend is forced to go to that not-busy-at-all place on days like today….grump!…It puts her in a really bad mood and I have to stay home all alone…sniff! ….Uh-oh, she forgot to take her book with her this morning. Now she will be in an even worse mood..grunt!
11:57 am on February 2nd, 2011
We were quite lucky in Chevy Chase here — just rain and the temperature is suppposed to get up to fifty degree today; maybe it will melt some of the remaining snow (or should I say ice) that is keeping grandpa from being able to go outside. As for me, snow or ice is no deterrent.
Mom and I didn’t watch Punxutawney Phil on the television (but glad to hear that spring is on the way), but we did watch one of our favorite movies, Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray. Just hilarious but thought provoking in an interesting sort of way too. My favorite scene is the “don’t drive mad” scene and I assure you, that I never drive mad. Wookie
11:59 am on February 2nd, 2011
Sorry –that should be “don’t drive angry” scene. Wookie
12:09 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Good to know that you are not mad Wookie.
Wookie..the last time mom was able to go out in the yard (was that only 2 days ago?) she made a new friend that reminded her of you. His name is Beauregaurde and he is a powerful sniffer. Mom says she is sufficiently sniffed for some time to come.
Sausage is ready. Anyone?
Rio..good dog.
12:23 pm on February 2nd, 2011
MinPIn!…Don’t good-dog me ….snort!…Makes me think you are up to something…grump!
12:33 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Wookie, The movie Groundhog Day was filmed mostly in Woodstock, IL. That is where Barb’s son and family live. Town square is beautiful and quaint. That is the area to which Barb wants to move back when our house finally sells. When they were filming, it was really a big deal, and one of Barbs’ co workers had a bit part in it. He was a policeman, but don’t think he had a speaking part. The B & B was a regular home near the square, and the Tip Top restaurant was a real restaurant on the square, just had a different name. It was fun for all the locals.
12:39 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Macy. Thanks. Beauregaurde sounds like a good guy. Power sniffing is definitely a key attribute of golden retrievers. Wookie
12:42 pm on February 2nd, 2011
MollyPop: where did you get your chart? I’d love to see if they have one for MA.
Been working on side effects of Dan’s meds. I think we’ve figured out the problem. He sees the doc on Wednesday and we are going to make sure that what ever he is taking is for his good, not for confusion.
12:53 pm on February 2nd, 2011
There is a four-foot snow drift in my garden. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to “see” snow evaporate?
Melanie: I hope Dan’s meds get sorted out. I’ve had to take Tylenol with codeine and though it doesn’t lead to confusion, it certainly causes dopey-ness.
1:30 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Stover. Here in Chevy Chase, particularly when it is overcast but warmer, you can definitely see snow evaporate as fog. Wookie
1:47 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Melanie – My chart came from noaa. Here’s a search that you can dig into: http://search.usa.gov/search?sc=0&query=average+snowfall+massachusetts&locale=en&m=&affiliate=nws.noaa.gov&commit=Search
1:52 pm on February 2nd, 2011
B.Stover: I couldn’t do the Tylenol with codeine. Made me sick.
When we lived on the coast in MA, the harbor, in minus degrees, would have a fog over parts of it. The old’ns called it an ice fog, but supposedly that takes place even more north. Maybe it was an ice mist. Very pretty.
Wöökie! Love that movie!
1:58 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Thanks MollyPop, found the current snow depth. We have 2 feet of snow on the ground. Of course, I could have told them that by looking outside.
Later I will look for total amount of snow fall so far this season.
2:51 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Melanie – Here’s a favorite site, Wunderground (not WonderFluff). http://www.wunderground.com/US/NY/Buffalo.html
2:54 pm on February 2nd, 2011
And this also for ytd precip: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=ICAO:KBUF&almanac=1
3:24 pm on February 2nd, 2011
I know we’ve had “freezing fog” according to the weather channel. That was a new one on me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen foggy conditions due to snow evaporation. Could it be too cold here for that to happen? Even when the snow starts melting I can’t remember fog.
3:41 pm on February 2nd, 2011
B. – The ski hills get foggy when the temp warms up. Mom has skied in it but she says it’s dangerous, just like driving in the fog.
4:17 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Spring!….So what’s the logic behind the whole groundhog not seeing his shadow and Spring supposedly coming early? I just don’t get it….grunt!
4:30 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio: I never understood it either.
Mollypop: Skiing in fog would not be good.
4:44 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Good morning everyone. That sounds like an incredible snowstorm but glad that Melanie says it wasn’t as bad as they thought. Still it sounds like massive amounts of snow (we never get snow).
Good news, early spring, and today is Chinese New Year. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
4:50 pm on February 2nd, 2011
We sometimes have fog in the morning after it snows and the storm moves out. Not that this happens very often where I live. It will be interesting to see if we have fog in the morning because it is suppose to be something like minus 7 tonight.
Me too, I wondered the same thing today about the groundhog and Spring. I was and still am too lazy to search the answer on the internet, but someday…
4:52 pm on February 2nd, 2011
So, we should be having both sausage and Chinese food today. I’m up for that.
4:52 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Liz, are you saying “Hey Fat Boy” to Rio! He is sentive you know.
4:55 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Driveway is plowed, and they are delivering my dog food in a few minutes. Just in the nick of time. Bee, where did that saying start?
5:08 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hey fat boy = your words, NOT mine, i have witnesses!!
5:08 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Grump!
5:21 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio isn’t a fat boy. He’s a kind-hearted fierce pug with beautiful eyes and a wonderful tail.
5:25 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Especially wonderful tail since you gave him that pink ribbon B. Stover!
5:28 pm on February 2nd, 2011
B&M: Here’s a link about the expression nick of time.

5:29 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Pink ribbon?? I didn’t do it Rio.
5:35 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hey Melanie- the pink ribbon was OUR idea…let’s give credit where its due. Geez..we Kats don’t get any respect!
5:35 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Here is a link about groundhog day.
http://pittsburgh.about.com/cs/punxsutawney/a/groundhog_day.htm
5:40 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Thank you Stover…I’ll read both of them.
5:45 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Chet,
A groundhog tried to get out of his hole here in Oley. We chased him right back in. Whats that tell ya about Spring? We say it means we can’t wait for Spring to get that groundhog. And whats all the fuss about that one particular groundhog? If they are worried about him up in Punxa-whatsitsname….let us huskies have a go at him
5:52 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Ha ha Oley. You have the right idea. Such a fuss, although this year I liked the outcome. Can that dumb groundhog make some warm weather for me?
5:56 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Stover!…She is my only friend. The rest up you pee-puddlers can lick the sidewalks….grump!
6:04 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio – I’m very hurt by that remark.
6:46 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Chet, this has been a LOT Of winter in this part of the world. It’s OK with us. We love snow, but the humans are getting cranky.
What we really wanted to say is we just read your first book. I mean, we didn’t know anything about you until this past Saturday. Now we are loyal fans, and you can’t get much more loyal than dogs. You write brilliantly. I know you’ve got to have some Border Collie in you. They are such intellectuals! Anyway, we’re getting the next book next weekend and we can hardly wait.
6:47 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Riö, oh Riö,
your feelings are so hurt.
Is it that your heart is not so harden
as you assert?
6:48 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Another Franklin!!
Hi Lola and Franklin . . .
And OleyHowlers, I have some beavers here if you want some action right now.
6:51 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hey Lola and Franklin are cute. They’re Shar Peis!
6:52 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Lola and Franklin – Welcome. We just went to your website and saw your pictures. You’re kinda wrinkly. (My Mom is too.)
6:55 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Me too Rio and after I good dogged you.
6:59 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hi, newbies. Welcome!
Rio, why is Bee your only friend?
7:03 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Welcome Lola and Franklin, and OleyHowlers welcome back.
I’m having an espresso with foamy richness.
7:04 pm on February 2nd, 2011
OleyHowlers, Get that Groundhog!!
Melanie, I wish there were a way us huskies could help you out with the beavers. With us, there would be no touchy-feely, cute little beaver nonsense. We’d give the tails to Dawson.
Rio, you have hurt the feelings of some of us who are totally innocent.
Welcome, Lola and Franklin
7:13 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio: Oh…nice.
7:15 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Thanks for the research B. Stover. Very interesting. Though Zoë and I think that back in the 1800’s perhaps the people who named the groundhog had had a few drinks.
7:30 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Every so often I refer to my comic hero, Pogo Possum. Miz Groundchuck was a character in the comic strip. A woodchuck and a groundhog are the same thing. So funny!
7:31 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Yeah, Rio, all i did was wish everyone happy new year!
7:34 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Macy MinPin: Balmy this morning was 10 degrees Fahrenheit, no wind and no new snow.
Welcome: Lola and Franklin. That sausage on your blog looks delicious. Congratulations on your brand new 2 legged sister.
Kung Hei Fat Choy = Happy Chinese New Year.
Rio: Has your friend fed you your supper yet? Maybe you’re cranky because you haven’t eaten. Or because she had to go to work even though the place is not even busy, driving on icy roads, risking her life. Not our fault.
8:00 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Greetings, o wise Dawson.
Mr Service Dog in fluffy slippers wins Cute Pic of the Day.
8:09 pm on February 2nd, 2011
LizF: I still need to look at that fascinating sounding link you put up yesterday. Perhaps I will have time tomorrow.
8:11 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Grump!… I was referring to the individuals involved in the “Fat Boy” conversation and after thinking about it also the ones involved in the Pink Ribbon conversation, and of course everyone involved with the Wonderfluff conversation… snort!… That pretty much covers everyone except maybe my Special Agents Wookie, SiberH, Molly and Lil Lexi (who is not present) I did not keep a list so I know this is not a complete list …grunt!….Any other innocents know their own name….grumble!
Un-Well!… My friend is not doing her best tonight, she’s been struggling with painful knees forever and believe it or not she has made a doctor’s appointment for this Friday morning….grunt!… Unheard of! So I know she must be in some discomfort to do that. She couldn’t make it for tomorrow because of some dratted training session that will last 5 freakin’ hours tomorrow. All afternoon in fact and she says sitting makes her knees hurt even worse…grumble! ….She is in a seriously bad mood tonight and I am staying close to comfort and possibly help her snort out her bad mood….snort!
8:12 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Greetings Lola and Franklin! welcome to our little gsng. We all think Chet is marvelous too, but we think you are a little mistaken about the Border Collie connection. They may be smart, but intellectuals??? Please!
Now Corgis….we are a very thoughtful and philisophical group. This is most likely why we have been chosen as the official Royal dogs.
8:12 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Welcome Lola and Franklin. I have a couple of good friends that are shar peis.
Rio: I hope you weren’t serious when you said Stover is your only friend. I think we all
love you in spite of your gruff facade. At heart you’re really kind and caring.
8:17 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Haha HaHa, giggle, chorltle giggle….DAWGS??? INTELLECTUALS???
In the Same sentance??? Oh help, laughing so hard, our sides hurt…oh stop…haha haha hahaha
8:19 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Tupper and Gilly,
I have to come to the defense of the border collies. They are absolutely BRILLIANT.
On three occasions 123 breeds of dog were tested for intelligence and the border collie came out first on each occasion. The Standard Poodle, like Mollypops came in second each time. My dad had a border collie for several years. He says Blou had actually learned to talk, but he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut when there were people around. Actually he could be sent to get ony one of probably 25 or 30 toys that he knew by name.
8:19 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Riö: please tell your friend that I completely understand about knees hurting. I never knew how much I used my knee until I couldn’t anymore. Bummer, bum knee.
I know when my primary care doc was first looking at the problem of my knee, she was thinking of a shot. Then when the x-rays came back, well, that changed everything.
Is the joints or the muscles? I have found that Arnica cream is helping with the swelling and hurting muscles, but didn’t do a thing for those weird pearl things that were in there.
8:23 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Oh, no, the intelligence thing again.
8:24 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio – It’s a good thing your friend finally decided to see a doctor. If knees are hurting, then there’s a reason. The sooner it can be fixed, the better.
Look how Melanie has suffered with her knee and now she’s on the way to recovery.
8:35 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Melanie!… I don’t know what it is about her knees. She refuses to talk about it. So time will tell. …grunt!… I have put Mr. Tibbs on my list of friends….snort!
8:36 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hi Tyb – we do agree that BC’s are very very smart. But have you ever tried to have a conversation with one of them. All they can talk about is which toy is which, and how they make the sheep do what they want.
You can’t exactly discuss the finer points of poetic pentameter or comparative literature.
You and Wolfie and MollyPop seem much more intellectual to us.
8:40 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Check out the 100 smartest dog breeds on answers.com. Border Collies are #1, Siberian Huskies are #20, and Alaskan Huskies are #21. hahahahahahaha My tribe beat the Alaskan Huskies.
This 100 smartest dog breeds is probably mostly BS. How can they in all honesty figure this out, except for the Border Collie being number 1.
Corgis are further down the list.
They don’t make lists for kats.
8:41 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Hey PugFace – We love you. How could we not when you sent such a wonderful prayer for Zoe, and any of the other plunderers when they are in need. We just have to tease – we ARE Kats after all. We have our reputations to hold up.
8:41 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Lola and Franklin, welcome! We just
wastedspent an hour reading your blog and sorting out the moms and all. We have not yet found when Brooklyn started being Franklin, however. We are going bag to your blog now though since someone here seems to have a stick up his keester.8:42 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Siber – thats cuz we are too smart to take their silly tests!
8:46 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Macy – wait!! We have to talk – what are you wearing to the Supper Bowl Party. You have such a wonderful fashion sense. We are packing for the trip, and just can’t decide between the rhinestone collars, or the royal blue with silver stars, or maybe go casual with the bandana look? Help!
8:48 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio, I am really glad your friend is going to the doctor, Knee problems can be fixed and as Mollypop said, the sooner the better.
8:48 pm on February 2nd, 2011
The Pack has decided that they are all wearing formal black.
8:53 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Tyb, we agree with you on the Border Collie. Mom had one for his entire life span. He was smarter than mom.
I’m not an intellectual…I am a dog of action and adventure.
8:56 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio that’s good that your friend is going to the doctor about the knees, they’re too important (as we all know through Melanie’s experience).
9:02 pm on February 2nd, 2011
We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
TTFN
9:06 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Tupper!…Oh! you guys are making me laugh about the brainiac(made up word) Border Collies, and I never laugh…snort! …Kats tease me and I tease Kats, that’s how the world works…heh!….MinPin, you are hilarious tonight for some reason – thanks for saving everyone else the time to rummage through that other blog, which is apparently a waste of good Pug time…heh!
Fashion!… I myself will be sporting my one and only (thank goodness!) Black Tie to watch the Supper Bowl!…gruff! woooo!
9:08 pm on February 2nd, 2011
I’m going to wear my Colorado Rockies cap.
9:10 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Cassie!…She was part Border Collie and she was way smarter than me…heh!…The things that girl could get away with all the while looking innocent and perfect….chorkel!
9:12 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Melanie!… I too need a photo of me with my Rockies cap on and my black Bow Tie!…help!…snort!
9:15 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Prospero…The Tempest.
I’ve always wondered what “comparative literature” is.
9:16 pm on February 2nd, 2011
I think I’ll bring both bow ties and decide when I get there. And I’ll definitely bring my martini shaker as well. It’s always good to be prepared. Wookie.
9:21 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Thank you for the nice welcomes! We didn’t mean to start a controversy about the intelligence thing. We are pretty much in awe of the Border Collies that we know, but our own breed tests rather low on the intelligence scale and we’re not buying that. We’ve both been in shelters and wound up doing pretty well for ourselves in terms of lifestyle. We maintain that that’s evidence enough that we know what we’re doing.
9:25 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Back atcha, Tupper and Gilly,
I never met Blou, so I can’t say whether he could discuss poetic pentameter or comparative literature, but I have seen a book around here that’s called “Living the
Good Life” that has Blou listed as the author.
9:27 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Lola and Franklin, I don’t buy the bred intelligence thing either except for the top two…border collies and standard poodles. Still, I am happy that my tribe is one ahead of the Alaskan Husky.
9:31 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Rio,
Thanks for getting be back on your list of friends.
As for intelligence: I’m not so sure that it make a bit of difference in the scheme of things. It’s not how intelligent we are that makes our lives good, it’s how much we are loved, and I think that we can all consider ourselves “Lucky Dogs” as far as that goes.
9:32 pm on February 2nd, 2011
Greetings, everyone, especially the new folks! Depending on what part of the world you are in, Happy New Year or NYs Eve!
Welcome, Bunny Year. May you be as fluffy as we hope you’ll be!
I think we should meet in Dallas on Saturday. I will personally Blurrrrrr in anyone who needs a ride. Just say the word. I’m looking forward to meeting the newcomers and the British folks.
It seems we have a problem……we have committed ourselves to wonder fluffing a Plunderer during the halftime show. On national television, no less, but a certain someone has decided to stay home. So……..any who, Siberia-H, old buddy, old pal, can we count you in?

Smarts!… I think I am still number 56 or some ridiculously high number….grunt!… I don’t buy in to all that rating stuff either…sniff!
Hey!…Wookie was number 1 – double – 00 tonight!…yeeep!…Has that ever happened before? I don’t think so! …har!…This means the Packers will definitely win the Supper Bowl this year!…yes!

TYB, As you well know from past ramblings, I am an English Shepherd and not a BC, thoug we are closely related. Barb says I am just as smart as a BC, maybe smarter, and also I have an off switch, which BCs do not. In those tests they only rate AKC breeds, and I happen to be UKC registered, so it isn’t totally accurate. Barb is sure I would be # 1 or 2 and she is not biased.

Wolfie – so glad to hear from you. We have an idea…do you suppose people would pay money to see Mike Baker get wonderfluffed?
9:42 pm on February 2nd, 2011
hmm I was just thinking the same thing. Leave us guys out of this.

My vote goes for skipping the whole wonderfluff nonsense and just enjoying our party. Anyone who wants to come in Saturday is welcome at our house, but may get vacuumed. Saturday is supposed to be our first day above freezing since Monday.
We are not used to this weather, and SOME of us have no fancy fur coats built in. I found out this morning just how cold one’s tootsies can get. Mom, for some unknown reason, thought it would be a good idea to take me out front on my *gag+choke* leash. The hard surfaces are just ice, and the grass is not that much better. Well, long story even longer, I slipped out of my collar and took my ownself for any unauthorized solo stroll. I forgot to mention that when we went out the door Biddy, who never bolts, bolted and took herself for a completely unauthorized walkabout. So mom is going crazy and yelling at us to come back (like we would not anyway) and we are heading up the street to see what there is to see.
Mom slid down the neighbor’s driveway and narrowly missed busting her underbits. Then Biddy decided to gallop home, while I continued up the street. Mom really wanted to get Biddy in the house while she could, but was frantic about leaving me out there on my own. Luckily, a weenie dog and his person were walking by and “kept an eye on me” while Mom slid home to let Biddy in the house. By the time she got back out, I had had all of the street action I needed and had headed home. I probably won’t be getting anymore walkies until the icies go away.

Sam is wonder fluffed on a regular basis, so it wouldn’t be that much of a thrill.
I mean we are talking about the Supper Bowl here, so we have to make a splash.
Wookie?

SiberH!…It is a very unflattering photo of AbbitTheKat squatting. Staff took it and then regretted posting it because Dawson called it Kitty Porn…heh!…(it’s not really, but it is unflattering)….snorkel!…I can’t believe you don’t remember it. Oh, yes, I guess I can believe it…heh!

Macy, great idea about the party. It will be a grand party!

AbbieTheSquattingKat!….I would post it again, but I think I would be on someone’s SOL list for a lifetime if I did…grunt!… It is a good thing you do not remember it SiberH!…heh!…Memory is over-rated at times….snuffle!…There are lots of things one wants to forget and yet can’t. Lots of regrettable stuff usually. Memory is a curse sometimes….snuff!
Goodnight All!…Sleep warm. Another cold below Zero morning in store for my disgruntled friend I fear…snuffle! …Then that damned training..(“we will feed you” they say – probably something very unhealthy and cheap)…..grunt!…She is not happy. I have tried to be comforting tonight, but I am not working…snivel!
