Gronk and Job
“I know injuries are part of the game,” Admin says, “but what Gronk is going through seems unfair.”
“Agreed,” says Spence. “Get well soon, Gronk. The game will miss you.”
Welcome new friends Charlie, two real buddies, Hilton, and the very fierce Dinger.

Who is Gronk?
Good morning all.
9:53 am on December 9th, 2013
Good morning, everyone! So good to hear that Golinka and the Storyteller got home ahead of the storm. Rest those who aren’t tip top and get that way soon.
Ye dogs, Monday again. Hang on, here we go.
9:57 am on December 9th, 2013
We are having a very sloppy day here.
Bee, We have no idea who Gronk is.
9:58 am on December 9th, 2013
Good Icy Morning,
Gronk is Rob Gronkowski who plays for the Patriots. It appears he has a torn ACL.
Ouch.
10:03 am on December 9th, 2013
We missed the major part of the storm. Just a bit of snow. We are now having ice pellets.
I have sanded the major pathways of the Stockade. Started both cars. Zoƫ has been up forever. She has done all the dog laundry, her laundry, fed the Pack and is now doing Poop Patrol.
I can not keep up with her!
We will be getting warmer and then another storm comes through . . maybe . . they think.
10:04 am on December 9th, 2013
Thanks Melanie. We didn’t know either but figured it was a sports person of some type.
10:17 am on December 9th, 2013
Sports schmortz
Feeling grumpy today as we are completely iced in and unable to do any of the myriad errands that must be accomplished in the few days at home.
Oh well. At least we ARE safe at home. Looks like a day to decorate the tree.
10:40 am on December 9th, 2013
Perhaps your Royals’ Mum needs a break from her lead foot?
snicker.
There is a Google today. It is Grace Hooper’s 107th birthday. What a woman!
I guess I better turn off the cars. . .
10:47 am on December 9th, 2013
Thanks Melanie.
Tupper’s Mom is making me laugh.
Wow, the birds love oatmeal raisin cookies.
11:13 am on December 9th, 2013
Good Morning!
We here knew who Gronk was only because of today’s “tag”.
Royal Mum & Dad: Relieved to hear you made it home ahead of the Storm. Your Mama’s “lead foot” saved the day.
C.Hobbit: Finding things after you move is a Challenge for sure. Don’t despair…you will run across them eventually…a few years down the line.
Melanie: I Love Oatmeal Cookies too!
11:15 am on December 9th, 2013
B: I see that was You feeding the birds the cookies this morning. Heh. I am so accustomed to going to the River Bear’s for snacks.
11:51 am on December 9th, 2013
Bear: I fed the birds sunflower seeds also.
11:52 am on December 9th, 2013
We haven’t heard from Siber-H for several days.
11:55 am on December 9th, 2013
The Patriots are doing so well this season. They will miss Gronk, but he will be back next season. I hate to see any injuries like this in sports, but this is Spence’s team so we know he feels bad about it.
Good Morning All
11:56 am on December 9th, 2013
Hi Stover, It wasn’t really as long as several days, but thanks for missing me.
12:01 pm on December 9th, 2013
Melanie, our mom was thrilled by the Google Doodle today. She was reminded of actually getting to meet grace hopper and hearing her speak. The people at her workplace have a Diversity board that they used one month to show case women in i/T. Would you believe grace Hopper was NOT on it, and instead they had the likes of Meg Whitman !!!!!!
Kids today. Phffft
12:02 pm on December 9th, 2013
Does anyone else have a problem not getting the shift for upper case to work properly on their iPaw? Grrrr
12:06 pm on December 9th, 2013
OH: not usually a problem here. Errors from here are TIOTK (the idiot at the keyboard).
12:17 pm on December 9th, 2013
HOH: Ummm. Shouldn’t that be TIATK?
12:23 pm on December 9th, 2013
HOH and Dawson crack us up! Heh!
We finally had a chance to catch up on last night’s blog. We gotta tell youse, we here hate to shop and we never have good ideas for gifts, and we think way too much emphasis is put on presents.
Every year we feel compelled to buy for all the grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The list grows exponentially, and no kid has any idea what they get from whom, and we think they all get way too much. So this year, we are talking the ‘rents out of giving any of those presents. They are so afraid they will feel embarrassed and awkward on Christmas Eve.
12:40 pm on December 9th, 2013
Hi Siber-H.
12:42 pm on December 9th, 2013
Dawson and OH: We rest our case š
12:42 pm on December 9th, 2013
Barb buys gifts, but not as many as she used to. Her Grands get way too many things, IMO. Barb buys a lot of books for gifts. The 3 oldest Grands like to read, which we encourage, as it will give them a lifetime of pleasure.
12:43 pm on December 9th, 2013
Howlers: We here have memories of kids (not our little angels :)) opening presents in a frenzy…going from one to the other with no appreciation for any of it…Grump.
Siber: Snow update…on the ground no…but those may be snow clouds up above.
12:45 pm on December 9th, 2013
OH: Mom’s philosophy is: Your friends you choose, your family you explain š
Works for us.
12:48 pm on December 9th, 2013
It is hard to find presents for those you don’t know well. But kids are easy. They like anything. Well almost. May we suggest for a family with littles – make an “activity box”. Go to an inexpensive place like a dollar store. Get boxes of crayons, puzzle books, play doh, little toys, bags of balloons etc. guaranteed that littles will get bored during Christmas vacation, and parents will appreciate a box of “busy” stuff even more than the kids.
12:49 pm on December 9th, 2013
Roy Halladay announced his retirement. Sniff. With apologies to bee.
12:51 pm on December 9th, 2013
Tupper’s Ma,
You must know much younger, or less spoiled children. Children in this family would just toss that box on top of their piles of electronics and Barbie stuff and drums and and and …..
12:55 pm on December 9th, 2013
Roy Halladay, sniff, sniff, I like the guy.
1:09 pm on December 9th, 2013
Masquers, I love that picture of you in the snow. Maybe you will get some soon. It is just cold here which is better than warm.
1:28 pm on December 9th, 2013
O’Howlers – did you reboot the iPaw?
CHobbit – I’m missing things since I moved too. I have the remote to my DVD player but not the player. Also, I have only the top to my food processor. I think there’s a box of stuff in Sammie’s basement that hasn’t been found yet. Or maybe this is like the Socks in the Dryer conundrum.
1:29 pm on December 9th, 2013
Mom and Dad quit giving gifts to brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews a couple of years ago. They have no little ones in their area that come for the Christmas festivities. For those that come, we have switched to a “white elephant” gift giving with a dollar limit (which Mom can’t stick to) that is a lot of fun.
Up until that time, they would send money to the nieces and nephews that live out of town. It just got too expensive and wasn’t reciprocated (although we are sure it was appreciated.)
When Mom was growing up, the family always opened gifts one at a time and everyone got to appreciate what each person got and gave. They took turns and it was a big deal for all of them. Of course, they didn’t receive the number of gifts kids seem to get now. The first time Mom joined Dad’s family at Christmas and his nieces and nephews just dove in and started ripping open presents, she went into shock! She didn’t know where to look or what was happening. She did not like that at all. It was all over in about 5 minutes and the kids didn’t know who gave them what.

Tyb is bashful about his good works but I don’t consider that bragging at all. This year he is on the cover of the Pet Emergency Fund pamphlet.
1:46 pm on December 9th, 2013
Tyb is always good looking. MPM: thanks for cover canine foto.
2:01 pm on December 9th, 2013
Congrats TYB! We are proud of you.
Buddy and Leno I have a question for you please.
My Dad is legally blind and although he has always been active on his computer he now can not see well enough to use it.
He feels useless.
He has a program called Zoom Text that does not work for him. He has heard about some other program that will help him use a computer. It is supposed to take his spoken word and make a document that he can print out. I wonder if you could email me with suggestions about computer programs that we could consider for him?
My email is ‘n’ ‘c’ ‘d’ ‘r’ ‘e’ ‘w’ at gee male dot com.

I go for the unusual for the one young friend of the family.
Last year was an aquarium with two jellyfish in it. They were not alive but because of a small current and soap (I think) in the water they moved like they were.
This year is a compass. I just have to find a book for eleven year olds on how to use it. At his age I loved my compass.
First Christmas decoration is up. Zoƫ brought it out. She said she remembered being high as a kite and people started walking in with this tree and plant after plant. There was also a Newf! She says thank you again and thank you for the wonderful memory during a hard time.
2:40 pm on December 9th, 2013
Hey! Zoe’s tree! It is beautiful!
3:07 pm on December 9th, 2013
Love seeing the photo of Zoe’s tree!
And the one of Tyb, who always takes a good picture (not that he takes it…but, you know what I mean)
MPM: I’ll trade you…we have the player…but not the remote.
3:10 pm on December 9th, 2013
We found at a garage sale during the summer a bunch of inexpensive activity toys, like badmitton, nerf footballs, ball toss games, etc for Christmas at Dad’s family. Total cost for 9 kids less than $10. They can play together that night and they always seem to enjoy the things they can do together. (the little ones are all boys) If they never touch them again, no biggie, at least they are occupied for the evening.
Dad is home AGAIN today. Did he retire again?
MPM how is our little LouLou?

3:26 pm on December 9th, 2013
At last the ice here is melted. But we are supposed to get more ice in about an hour. Sheesh.
Have we ever mentioned that this particular desert girl HATES winter? Probably not, as we are never, ever known to complain.
HA!
Ok – last two cents worth as far as gifts. Back when we were in college and broke, we had younger cousins, and no money for gifts. They got certificates that entitled them to a day with Big Cousin, doing something fun, like go to the park or a movie sans parental units. Lunch was included at a fast food restaurant of choice. The younger cousins loved it. They used them kind of as a “get out of jail free” card. Would the great nieces/nephews appreciate a trail ride or a computer lesson or any other day out with Auntie and/or Uncle?
3:28 pm on December 9th, 2013
Macy – LOL
3:55 pm on December 9th, 2013
Macy, That is too funny.
We think T & G’s coupon idea is a good one. You could make a paper Christmas tree from construction paper, then put little round ornaments on the tree. Each one would have a coupon on it, or under it with a special treat listed on it. For instance: Good for one dish of ice cream at…. Or good for one Sat. night movie video with popcorn….Could be a lot of fun.
4:13 pm on December 9th, 2013
Greetings!
Love Zoe’s tree!
Tyb: Good work! We are so proud of you!
Thanks, MPM for making us aware of TYB’s fine work.
4:15 pm on December 9th, 2013
Okay, I have to admit to a small Pity Me Party. The doc called. Have to meet with the people doing the thing on Dec. 19th. If I pass the blood tests I will have the shunt test on Dec. 30th. If THAT works out the real deal will be around January 6th.
So the Pity Party is over.

Sneeze!…I know who dat Job is…snuffle!…Comparing Gronk to Job is not a very fair comparison….cough!…Job had it way worse….sneeze!
5:04 pm on December 9th, 2013
Re gifts for children: once they are past the pre-school age may I suggest two things to give each year: a tool for a future toolbox and a special Christmas ornament or lights so that when the time comes that s/he is on their own, s/he will be equipped to fix things and to decorate a tree with memories. Once s/he is on their own, set them up with a one-time Kiva account or have them pick from a charity catalog a gift to help someone. It would also work if you town has “angel” trees. After that, hopefully they will continue the gift of giving on their own.
For years on their birthdays I have given nieces/nephews and grand nieces/ nephews dollar bills equal to their age. They know to expect it and have no problem spending it.
5:21 pm on December 9th, 2013
Gronkowski is a Buffalo boy. Just like Patrick Kane, we grow ‘me and then somebody else takes them. Both have nice local families.
5:24 pm on December 9th, 2013
Melanie: We are behind you all the way as you kick that cancer to the curb.
6:16 pm on December 9th, 2013
Restless!…My friend sent me a text on my little Go Phone…sniff!…Seems she is sitting all alone at the not very busy-place waiting to clock-out and come home…snort!…Thing is coming home is not something she looks forward to except to see me and maybe Beau…sniff!….I think she is still mad at you-know-who. Or maybe she’s not mad, but just doesn’t really care anymore. Maybe not caring is worse….wuffle!….I think she’s got a bad case of the “Bah-Humbugs” this year….grunt!
6:23 pm on December 9th, 2013
Rio: I feel very bad for Your Friend.
6:33 pm on December 9th, 2013
We second that Bear, we wish there was something we could do to help Rio’s friend.
Melanie, we are all behind you 100%. Will be glad when you can get started with the treatment.
6:42 pm on December 9th, 2013
O.K. We will try the Dollar Store Activity Box for some of the kids. If they aren’t interested, well, we won’t even know.
We still have 1 pre-teen and 1 teen neices who we have no ideas for.
6:43 pm on December 9th, 2013
Oh! We just remembered: the pre-teen makes things out of duct tape!
6:58 pm on December 9th, 2013
We think BooBear came from the same family as Mom, and that she married into Pop’s family too! Twins!!!!
7:09 pm on December 9th, 2013
Home!…My friend is home!…snort!…She found a package addressed to her had actually arrived safely in the mail, so that cheered her up…chuffle!…Do not worry about my friend. Her mother does this kind of crap every Christmas just to purposely make someone miserable…grunt!…I was sworn to secrecy about what that old lady did last year right before Christmas. It was all my friend could do to get through the holidaze…sniffle!…This too shall pass.
7:33 pm on December 9th, 2013
Rio, your friend has stayed with her mother. The rest of the family should be thankful, but it doesn’t look like it. So ignore them. They’re actually a bunch of bullies.
7:35 pm on December 9th, 2013
Ginger bread house.
Melanie you are frustrated but at least you have a timeline.
Masquers, nice art work.
7:35 pm on December 9th, 2013
RIO! We here at this blog love your friend!
7:38 pm on December 9th, 2013
RIO! Sammie is right. Although it is hard, I had to write off some of my family because of sticking their opinions were they don’t belong, and for being an extremely selfish, opportunistic person.
7:41 pm on December 9th, 2013
RIO! Someone once told Grizz that you will never see a miserable person associating with another miserable person. They only prey on happy people in an attempt to make happy people miserable.
7:41 pm on December 9th, 2013
Rio, also, my Mommy would take that Christmas list, say nothing, and make sure whatever she got was not on the list.
7:45 pm on December 9th, 2013
RIO! Did that package have any TMG teeth marks or stank on it?
7:51 pm on December 9th, 2013
Sammie!…I’m pretty sure she is not going to give anyone anything they want this year…hehheh!…My friend can be very devious when she puts her mind to it…sniff!
Rose!…As far as I could tell, there were only a couple of goatie nibble marks on the corners…grunt!…No real harm was inflicted….snort!
7:53 pm on December 9th, 2013
RIO! Good. Those dirty rotten TMGs. I’m not afraid of them.

Royals: Your Tree is Beautiful!
Instead of the usual fake tree we were thinking of a little live one with sparkling lights. Time to get those cards mailed too!
Rio: We would Love to see a photo of your tree.
The Roku is acting up. Hmm…we should probably check the batteries…trying to watch something is an exercise in frustration.
Is anyone else feeling like Time is out of wack? Night is falling earlier and earlier. It is difficult to adjust bedtime schedules around here.

9:58 pm on December 9th, 2013
Still here, and Rio, we get an error message any time we try to upload a photo. We can email them, so we have been sending to Melanie and she graciously has put them on for us.
Now again, good night.

Macy, finally a gingerbread house I can make!
That Corgi is a cutie and it looks like a pear and grape tree. YuM.
Melanie we are glad you have a timeline and hope your blood work goes well. You can have another pity party at the blood work. When I went in for the transplant they took SIXTEEN vials of blood. The tech. told me I had plenty more but I was doubtful. See if you can beat that! Heh Maybe you already have…hmmmmm

Missed telling Buddy and Leno that they are wonderful!
Macy, Zoƫ and I laughed when we saw the ginger bread house. Then we thought, wait, that is just our speed.
Loved all the pictures.
I just saw on Facebook that they found the first statue of an angel in one of the catacombs. It did not have wings. That did not surprise me. There are a bunch of four legged furry and two legged angels on this here Blog!
I thank Spencer for letting us play and become a community. And I thank you for all the support.

We took everything off and have no name, no nuttin’ on our photos and still can’t upload. Have no idea what we can do differently.
10:29 pm on December 9th, 2013
Well I figure if Rio’s friend can’t do it there must be some sort of glitch.
Nighty night y’all. Bed is calling.

Thought Mom was asleep butdarling Darah decided to honk. No sleeping through that. We agree all y’all, Buddy and his friend Leno are unbelieveable. Chutzpah to the Nth degree.
Macy’s Mom:TY for the gingerbread house “recipe” Might even try it.
Been a busy day so no fotos to try. Will attempt it tomorrow for Darah’s 11 month B-day.
All quite on the doggie front, will retry the sleep thing. Nighty night.
10:48 pm on December 9th, 2013
Nitey-nite. Maybe M. Baker will bring his tools during the night and work on the upload problem. We can only hope.
11:12 pm on December 9th, 2013
Here we thought it was just our problem since we got the new computer in October. Maybe not. Would be wonderful if we could put photos on again. Now, good night for the last time tonight.
